SharePoint Site Libraries
I was in Site Settings, creating and testing some Web Part pages I created. As I was creating pages, I was also deleted these test pages so as not to over populate the number of pages, etc...while doing this I deleted what I refer to as the home page for
my portal. (default.aspx) At least I thought I had deleted the site.
However, when I went to the parent site, opened the View Site Content settings, I scrolled down to the Sites and Workplaces section. My site was there, and when I clicked on the link, my portal displayed. All my Lists, Libraries, etc...were still there.
But the when I went to the Menu => Site Content naviagtional bar, and clicked on my portal link, I receive an "Webpage cannot be found. " So I'm thinking that the Navigation link for my portal is broke, which is a Site link. However, I do not
have admin rights to edit the link. When I addressed the problem to one of the SharePoint Site Collection Adminstrators, I was told, "the SharePoint navigation is non-functional because I deleted the SitePages library."
Since all my Lists, Libraries, etc...are still in the Site Content, what are the Site Pages library that affect the naviagtional settings?? This person also said that even his SA's cannot edit the Site link/ Can someone advise??
Thank You,
John M Payne
Actually, I stumbled onto the fix this morning. Under Site Settings, there is a link, New Page. I clicked on that and it told me that I had to create a Site Page library and something else. I named the new page the same as the original portal. Once the process
completed, I had a new, empty portal page. I looked under the View All
Site Content and all my Lists, Libraries, Discussion Boards, etc...we're still there. I went to the Site Navigation menu, clicked on my old portal name and it took me straight to my new empty page. By the end of the day, I had re-populated all my original links
and content...feel pretty good!!

Error when moving files between Sharepoint sites using 'content and structure' feature
Hi,
I am using Sharepoint Online 2013 on a mac computer.
I am trying to move files between sharepoint sites/libraries but because the "open with explorer" link does not work on mac computers, I need to do so using the 'content and structure' feature.
When I select a file to move and then select the destination site/doc library, i get the following error:
An error was encountered performing this operation.
Operation to Move '120207_Australia Post_Invoice.pdf' to '/Ops/internal/admin/General Admin' failed
No items were moved. Please remove 120207_Australia Post_Invoice.pdf from the selection and retry operation
Please help!
Thanks,
KateHi Kate,
If you mean only one file "120207_Australia Post_Invoice.pdf" could not be moved, please compare this file to the other files moved successfully, check if there are some differences, like the content types, fields.
Also compare the source library and destination library, make sure they have the the same type of fields.
And you could have a try of moving this single file separately see if it could help, or as a workaround to download this file from source and upload to the destination library.
Since it is related to SharePoint Online 2013, we cannot see the ULS log for more information, I would suggest you post this issue in Office365 SharePoint online dedicated forum via the following link for a better assistance.

Hi,
I'm pretty new to Sharepoint and wanted to ask a question to see if it can actually do what we need it to do.
We would have a top Site within a collection and under this we would have 400 sites for different sections of the business (External) Lots of teams create documents for all these sites and use the Code of the site in each document so we know what business
site its going to. For example 67890_BusinessReportMay.docx We know this document should be heading to site 67890
We have lots of services sending data to these 400 business sites. If we were to do them manually it would take most of our time to go to each site and upload the documents, even if we could do all the sites documents in 1 multiple upload. We still have
to go to each site to do it
Is there an easy answer to this? At present I have folders to match each of the 400 Sharepoint Sites and I use an Integration Services package to move all the documents into these 400 Matching folders. I do this using the Code at the start of each file name.
If it doesn't have a code its put into an error folder and reported back on.
Then I want something to automatically go through each of these folders and load them into the Sharepoint Sites document libraries.
OR
Say you have 600 files all going to the 500 sites on Sharepoint in one folder. The File contains meta data regarding the Sites Code. Using this you can split the files and automatically pull them across to the Sharepoint Sites without having to go
into each Sharepoint Site?
I'm thinking that you cant do this and I'm hoping I'm wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
DebbieHi Debbie,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to move the documents to different sites based on the code in the name of the files.
I recommend to create workflow and set the workflow to start when an item is created to achieve this goal.
As there is no built-in action which can move the documents cross site, we need to use the custom activity 'Copy List Item Extended' which need to be downloaded from
http://spdactivities.codeplex.com/.
Please per the steps in the link below to deploy the custom activity to SharePoint:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/82609160-152f-461a-9a19-0e996f5a309b/sharepoint-2010-archiving-the-files-from-one-document-library-to-another-document-library-in
After that, we can create a workflow to meet the need.
Here is the detailed steps to create the workflow:
Create a column in single line of text type(called NO for example) in the library where the documents are uploaded, and input value manually in the column to store the code when uploading the documents. (We can also use workflow to extract the code from
the name of the documents if the codes are always 5 numbers.)
Create a workflow associated with the library and set the workflow to start when an item is created.
Select If current item field equals value, change the settings to be If Current Item: NO equals 67890.
Select Copy List Item Extended, change the settings to be Copy item in Current Item to list at site 67890 URL.
Select Delete Item, change the settings to be Delete Item in Current Item.
Create other conditions from step 3 to step 5 to copy the documents to different sites and delete current documents.
Best regards.
Thanks

Hello
We have SharePoint 2013 SP1 and CU Sept. 2014.
Problem:
When a User tries to sync with a sharepoint subsite, he gets the message above in the title until we give him at the minimum "read" permissions on the top level site collection.
https://sitecollection/subsite <-- sync not working until read on sitecollection
The subsite has its own permissions, it doesnt inherit anything.
I tried to recreate this issue in our lab. What i got was this:
http://sitecollection/subsite <-- sync doesnt work without read permission on sitecollection
http://sitecollection/sitecollection/subsite <-- sync
works fine even without read permission on any sitecollection (just edit on subsite)
The question is:
Why does it behave like this?
I dont want to give everyone "read" permission on the root site collection. It must be an other way to sync on subsites!
Thanks for any response! Any help appreciated!
Regards
SharePoint_DudeHi,
I tested the same scenario per your post in my environment, however the libraries in subsites can be synced with OneDrive for Business.
I recommend to check the permission of the user in the subsite to see if the user has
Use Remote Interfaces permission.
If not, please select this and then check the results.

Sharepoint Sites link not creating in Hybrid Office installation on TS
Hi all,
Run into an issue where the 'Sharepoint Sites' link won't create in the user profile \ favourites when using the Connect to Office function from Libraries.
This is an on premise Sharepoint 2013 installation. Users connect to different Terminal Servers to access Office 2010 applications.
Issue only affects new users.
What I've found is if the new user is logged into a Terminal Server that has any Office 2013 applications installed on it. (In this case Sharepoint Designer 2013 or Project 2013)
The user regkey HKCU\Software\AppDataLow\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Portal gets created. Subsequently clicking Connect to Office seems to fail. I suspect this is because it knows the Office installation is only 2010 & tries to create the Publishing
time stamp key in HKCU\Software\AppDataLow\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Portal but this path does not exist.
Logging the user into a Terminal Server that only has Office 2010 installed generates the correct Regkeys & the Sharepoint Sites link creates successfully in the user profile.
Has anyone else seen this or know of a fix to get around the Office2013 being used as the default regkey path?

How to archive SharePoint 2013 libraries
Hello, so we have a site that has quite a bit libraries. Each library is a particular project. They would like to archive the ones that are completed and by archive they want it out of the current site and into an archive site.
Is there a way to programmatically do this? Has anyone does anything like this?Hi Zgembo,
Maybe you can use Record Center Template
The Records Center is intended to serve as a central repository in which an organization can store and manage all of its records such as legal. important or financial documents. The Records Center supports the entire records management process,
from records collection through records management to records disposition. Typically, a Records Center site is designed and configured by an organization's records management professionals and information technology (IT) staff to support an organization's
file plan.
Note SharePoint provides the ability to manage records “in place.” With in-place records management, you can use any feature available in the Records Center, such as information management policy enforcement, routing, and hold,
to manage records on any site.
The Records Center site template is similar to other SharePoint sites in that it serves as a general repository for documents and enables collaboration among site users. The Records Center site template, however, is a pre-configured site designed specifically
to help organizations implement their records management and retention programs. Versioning, auditing, metadata management, eDiscovery, and customizable record routing are built-in features that can help you manage records more effectively.

Cannot create dataset from claims based authentication sharepoint site in report builder 3.0
I have a sharepoint site, which is configured as claims based authentication (ref:
http://ashrafhossain.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/how-to-configure-claim-based-authentication-for-sharepoint-project-server-2010/) . both AD and asp.net members can log in to the site successfully. My user need to use the report build to create report

connect to the report server. I use asp.net member to login and it can let me to create a data source which connect to a the list of the sharepoint site with credential option "Use current Windows user. Kerberos delegation might be required". However, when

524a2f96-f5ff-4c96-80d1-f08d3c7ef14fHi Foxvito,
Claims authentication types supported by SharePoint 2010 are Windows Claims, forms-based authentication Claims, and SAML Claims. In SAML-Claims mode, SharePoint Server accepts SAML tokens from a trusted external Security Token Provider (TST). From the
blog you referenced, it seems to use the SAML Claims authentication.
However, the Reporting Services client applications: Report Builder, the Report Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio, and Management Studio do not support connecting and authenticating with LiveID or SAML Claims based SharePoint Web applications.
That's because the SAML Claims don't use the Reporting Services authentication endpoint. So, you have to change the Claims authentication type to use Report Builder on the SharePoint site.

Can't open sharepoint site with sharepoint designer 2010
Hi there,
We've installed SP Foundation + SP Server 2010 and set up some sites.
when we tried to open it with SP Designer 2010, it fails and gave us some errors.
opening SPD through site actions :
unable to open website. possible causes:
1. the web server may not have sharepoint server installed
2. the web server may be temporarily out of service
3. if you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be incorrect
4. an error may have occured in the web server
opening sharepoint site through SPD:
the folder 'http://mysp.domain.com/site/default.aspx' isn't accessible. the folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains a / or \.
the thing is ... we have no problem with sharepoint designer 2007.
any idea?Hi p.andrew,
If you want to open the site use SPD, you should enable the Client Integration for the web application at first.
Here are the steps:
1.
Go to this location : “Central administration” > “Security” > “Specify authentication provider”;
2.
Select the Web Application which you want to edit use SPD (SharePoint Designer 2010), and click the “Default” below the ‘Zone’;
3.
Select the “Yes” radio button
in the Client Integration section, and click the ‘Save’ Button;
4.
Close and re-Open the IE;
5.
Try to Open the site using SPD.

Unable to Publish Access database to SharePoint site in 2013
I have a user requesting to publish access (2007/2010) web database into SharePoint 2013. I am able to publish this database on all sites under one site collection (test) but fails on the other site (different site collection). I have compared site collection
and site features and both site collection (working and non-working one) has SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features enabled. Is there any other features that should be turned on?

According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you published Access database to SharePoint 2013.
Please deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features at site collection level and deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features at site level, then activate them again, compare the result.
Per the error message, please type a value in the ‘Name’ filed, then publish the table, compare the result.

According to your post, my understanding is that you had Errors TF30162 and TF250025 when creating a New Team Project in TFS2012 with Sharepoint Site on Visual Studio.
The Errors TF30162 seemed that the reports for TFS could not be uploaded due a permission problem. The fix was really easy.
Go to your team foundation server
Open the administration console.
Click on Reporting
Click on Edit
Click on Reports Tab
Enter the credential for the Reports
Save
Click on Start Jobs
In addtion, the problem may be due to the caching done by Team Explorer in Visual Studio. Exiting the copy of VS on the client and reloading it will fix the problem as the updated team process settings will cached locally.
To resolve the Errors TF250025, you will need to register a new internal URL for the SharePoint site using Alternate Access Mappings.
Here are two great blogs for you to take a look at:
http://blogbaris.blogspot.in/2012_08_01_archive.html
http://petersullivan.com.au/2009/11/23/tf250025-and-tf262600-errors-on-team-foundation-server-tfs-2010-project-portal-dashboard/
If still no help, for quick and accurate answers to your questions, it is recommended that you initial a new thread in Visual Studio Team Foundation Server forums.
Team Foundation Server – General:

Thank you for your understanding.

Cannot open document from SharePoint site
Hi All,
Randomly, I got this error when I trying to open a document from SharePoint sites like 'https://sharepoint.partners.extranet.***.com/'. When issue happend, all document cannot be opened from this
site. Here is the Error message snapshot:
'sorry, we cannot open 'https://..... ' because the server isn't responding'
Notes:
1) The issue only happend to this site and it's children sites.
2) If you click the button 'Try Again', the issue will be fixed, but later (several hours/days), the same issue happend again.
3) When issue happenend, other accounts can still open the files. The same account can open docs as well from other machines. But the issue is not related to this account and this machine because I can repro the issue from other machines.
The issue happend more than 1 year, if you can share something insight that will very helpful. Thank you!Hi,
Please add the URL of the SharePoint site to the list of trusted sites in your browser and check if that helps.
Cheers,
Daniel

Issue while accessing the SharePoint site - SharePoint 2010 - after Password update
SharePoint site is working until we update the password(as it is expiring, we have created a new password) .
We have updated the password in central admin.
After password update, getting the below
error.

We have gone through different articles and did below steps but there is no resolution for us
1) Verified all the SharePoint services in central admin and configured the updated service account to all the services.
2) Removed the SharePoint content DB and attached it again.
Could you please provide any pointers?
Marulasiddappa SB (Swamy)Hi,
Please refer to Justin’s blog and see if it helps:

As suggested by Alex, please provide more information about your process of changing password.
Here is an article for updating passwords on SharePoint 2010:
