  • SharePoint 2013 workflow to SharePoint Workflow

    All,
I currently have created a two stage approval process in SharePoint online . But my client wants it in 2010, i am really struggling in converting the workflow to 2010 as some of the actions are nothing like in the 2013.
Please see below my 2013 workflow.
I am kinda lost after the setting the variable to the list.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you mean that whether it will work in SP2013 then the answer is yes. SP2013 contains old SP2010 workflow platform and the new SP2013 one (which is based on Workflow Manager 1.0). However, code-based workflows are deprecated in SP2013, so it is impossible
to create code-based workflows for 2013 workflow platform. I mean it is possible to use old approach (only with SP2010 workflow platform, which is part of SP2013 and it should work well in SP2013), but it is recommended to use new 2013 workflows. So you can't
import 2010 VS WF to the project with 2013 WF as they have different approaches (in 2013 all WFs are declarative, even VS ones).
    Have I answered you question?

  • How can we change value of a field in the Repeating Table using SharePoint Workflow 2013.

    Hi
I have an InfoPath form published on a SharePoint Library. The form contains a Repeating table and after submit a workflow runs. In this workflow I want to change some values of the fields within Repeating table.
    How can I do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I found a similar thread posted by you here:

This only occurs on the workflows that have been designer in SharePoint Designer 2013, when the using the template ones (for example the three-state) they run fine. Have searched the internet to no avail on the error but believe it is something to do with
the server settings and permissions. Thanks in advance

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that Sharepoint Workflow get the Access Token Error.
I reoconmend that you can properly configure the HTTPS endpoint and then re-register the workflow farm with SharePoint.
The snippet below assumes that you have exported the SSL certificate from the workflow manager IIS web site to c:\wfm.cer.
    $cert = Get-PfxCertificate "c:\wfm.cer"
New-SPTrustedRootAuthority -Name "Workflow Manager Farm" -Certificate $cert
    Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite "http://dev.sharepoint.com" -WorkflowHostUri "https://devmachine
In addition, it may caused by
a mismatch between SharePoint and Workflows. You can install a new version workflow manger and sharepoint designer to check whether it works.

  • Don't Know How to Activate or Find Approval Workflow Template

    Hi
I'm using Sharepoint 2013. I want to add an approval workflow but I don't know how, and actually I don't know if it is already installed or I have to install the Approval Workflow template separately?!
Can anyone tell me how can I overcome this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to find Approval Workflow Template.
To activate the Workflow feature, you need to click Site Setting -> under Site Collection Administration, click “Site collection features",  and then activate the "Workflow" feature.
Then the Approval Workflow Template will be appeared.

  • Is there a SP2013 Approval Workflow template?

I've researched the web and it appears there is no SP2013 Approval Workflow template. The only out-of-the-box approval workflow template for SP2013 is the SP2010 Approval Workflow template? Is this correct? I would to have this confirmed by an MS
    tech.

    Hi,
In SharePoint 2013, there is no OTB workflows, But still SP 2010 OTB workflows can be created on the SP 2013 site and part of the default SharePoint installation.
Still its runs on backward compatibility in SP 2013.
SP 2013 workflows are scoped broaden in terms of functionality and usage, scale able ,robust  and runs out side of the SharePoint server.
For these reasons,SP 2013 does not have OTB workflows.

  • "There are no workflows templates available" error but actually workflow exist

I am using SharePoint 2013 on-premise farm. The workflow manager 1.0 is installed although we do not build any workflow on that.
On a site collection, when user try to create a workflow on "Pages" library, the error "There are no workflows templates available" occur. Checking ULS log there is nothing useful
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: There are no workflows templates  available. Please contact helpdesk     at  Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowServices.ApplicationPages.AddWrkflPage.OnLoad(EventArgs  e)
at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive()      at  System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean  includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)
By using SharePoint Designer 2013 we can see the workflows "Publishing approval" exist. I clicked on "Publish" button on SharePoint Designer, the problem is fixed. User can see the workflow "Publishing approval" when he try
to create a workflow on "Pages" library.
However, some hours later user call and said the problem recoccur. I checked with Designer the workflow still exist and no change for "Last modified time". If I clicked on "Publish" again it will fix again.
    My question is,
How can we check whether a workflow have been published? Any parameter?
How can we "unpublish" a workflow?
Any event could "unpublish" of a workflow?
Many thanks. Any input is welcome.

    Hi,
According to your description, you are unable to get the workflows "Publishing approval" template in SharePoint UI.
Make sure you have activate the Publishing Approval Workflow feature. If you have activate the Publishing Approval Workflow feature, deactivate it and active it again.
Site Settings -> Site Collection Administration ->Site collection features ->activate Publishing Approval Workflow feature.
1.How can we check whether a workflow have been published? Any parameter?
We can check whether the workflow is existing in the SharePoint UI.
2.How can we "unpublish" a workflow?
Under normal circumstances, we aren’t "unpublish" a workflow.
3.Any event could "unpublish" of a workflow?
Deactivate the feature which is related to the workflow.

  • SharePoint: Workflows - Emailing hyperlink of list item.

I have a custom SharePoint (2013) list to manage tasks assigned to personnel and keep track of their statuses. I've created a workflow using SP Designer to send out an email to whom the task is assigned on the date for which it's due.
The workflow is working properly and email alerts are being sent, except for one thing. Inside the email body is a hyperlink to the associated record which the recipient clicks on to view (only view, not edit) the task details.
I got the record's hyperlink by accessing it's display form and copying the URL from the browser, pasting it into the email body. The URL's format looks something like this:
    http://zeroshiki/sites/SP2010-Main-Site/Lists/Announcements/DispForm.aspx?ID=2&ContentTypeId=0x0104000933421F36DFF740B428FEC15871B493
Then I modified the URL by formulating a lookup to include the ID of the Current Item. In other words, the ID specified in the URL isn't fixed; it's based on the associated list item.
I've confirmed that when the recipient recieves an email, the ID in the URL matches the record's ID on the site. However, when they click on the link and are redirected to the record's display page, there's no data displayed. The fields are visible but the
values are not. Then I noticed that the URL in the browser does not match the one in the email; it's missing an ID value.
So when the URL in the email is ...DispForm.aspx?ID=2&ContentTypeId... it changes to ...DispForm.aspx?ID=&ContentTypeID...
Why does this happen? This method may seem strange to use, but I've tried looking up the "Encoded Absolute URL" and I get an error stating that the return type of the lookup is invalid. That's why I manually copied the URL format and formulated
    the record ID.
Am I doing something wrong here? Is there a more straight-forward approach to retrieving the record's URL?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to send email with hyperlink.
In order to solve the problem more efficiently I need to clarify some information.
Did the hyperlink is the current item URL?
How did you set the hyperlink?
Per my knowledge, the "Encoded Absolute URL" result is https://sitename/Lists/listname/Id_.000
To get the current item URL, I recommend to we can use [%Workflow Context:Current Item URL%] with SharePoint Workflow 2010 platform,

  • Sharepoint Workflow to change another item in the same library

Is it possible to change another item in the current library using a sharepoint workflow
I currently has a customised approval workflow that approves procedures. I would like this workflow to set the status of the previous version to archive when the current procedure is approved.
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
If the documents in your library are all word files and the names of the documents are named as"A001_Rev_+number", you take follow the steps below to update the status column.
Create a 2013 workflow associated with the library, and start the workflow when an item is created.
    Select Start a task process.
Select If any value equals value and set it to be: If Variable: Outcome equals Approved.
Select Extract Substring of String from Index with Length, and set it to be:Copy from Current Item:Name, starting at 0 for 9 characters(Output to Variable: substring).
Select Set Workflow Variable and set it to be:Set Variable: string to Current Item:Name.
Select Replace Substring in String and set it to be:Replace Variable: substring with (space) in Variable: string(Output to Variable: output).
Select Do Calculation and set it to be:Calculate Variable: output to minus 1(Output to Variable: calc).
Select Update List Item to update the status column(refer to the picture below).
Select Go to a stage and set it to be:Go to End of Workflow.
    Best regards.

  • Create Workflow template using WebPartPagesWebService

    Hello,
I'm using SharePoint web service "WebPartPagesWebService", I used the method ValidateWorkflowMarkupAndCreateSupportObjects() to create a workflow template.
    below is my method:
    string DefinitionFile = @"C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\WorkflowFolder\testwf.xoml";
    string RulesFile = string.Empty;// @"C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\WorkflowFolder\Workflow.xoml.rules";
    string ConfigFile = @"C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\WorkflowFolder\testwf.xoml.wfconfig.xml";
    string flag = "2";
    WebPartPagesWebServiceSoapClient client = new WebPartPagesWebServiceSoapClient();
    client.ClientCredentials.Windows.AllowedImpersonationLevel = System.Security.Principal.TokenImpersonationLevel.Impersonation;
    client.ClientCredentials.Windows.AllowNtlm = true;
    string str = client.ValidateWorkflowMarkupAndCreateSupportObjects(DefinitionFile, RulesFile, ConfigFile, flag);
I get a error in the result: "Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1."
Is there any idea how ca i fix it?
    Many thanks

    Hi Jinming ,
If you are creating a template to allocate overhead cost to the final product , you have to use either enviornment 009 ( Process Orders ) and enviornment 0012 ( Production Orders ).
    For planning , use enviornment 001 ( Cost Estimate/production Orders ).
I dont think enviornment 104 is correct . I dont see the enviornment in my list ECC 5.0
Enviorment 009 and 012 are tried and tested . Use them as per your requirement .
Please revert back for any further clarifications .

  • Dyanmics CRM integrated with sharepoint 2010 foundation - new created account folder can not trigger sharepoint workflow.

I integrated MS CRM 2013 with SharePoint foundation 2010 for document management. integration works.
Now I need to create several subfolders and set proper permission on each folder. So, I created a workflow to do it automatically. It works when I manually create a new folder under SharePoint account, or I manually run it for an account folder. Thus, sharepoint
    workflow works as I expected.
However, when I access Account's document from CRM (first time), sharepoint would create an folder for this account. In this case, the workflow doesn't work. and it show error: "Failed on Start(retrying)".
Anyone has experience on similar issues or have clue how to trace this error?

    Hi Justin,
From your description, the issue might be related to the workflow created by visual studio.
Could you please try to locate error message in workflow report or ULS log:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/cc298927%28v=office.14%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    also debug the workflow per:

  • Migration of 2010 workflow to 2013

if we use leading 3rd party tool Quest for migration then how to migrate sequential workflows from 2010 to 2013? will all sequential workflows automatically migrate to 2013 with quest tool or we need to do any further steps? It will be helpful if you say
    about steps here.
Do quest tools supports automatic migration of sequntial workflows to 2013 . I think it will run as 2010 workflow only. 2013 introduced stages, do we have to crate those stages?

2010 workflows will still run the same way they did in 2013.  The 2010 workflow mode is backwards compatible.  If you want the workflows to run in the newer 2013 engine then you'll need to re-write the workflows.  There are actions that are
available in 2010 that aren't available in the 2013 mode and vice versa so there is no automated conversion available.
But the Quest migration tool should migrate the workflows with the rest of the site when you migrate it.  In general they continue to work, but I do recommend testing since I've seen a few workflows that had problems after upgrade.  But the migrated
workflows will run as 2010 workflows in 2013.

  • Sharepoint workflow add calendar appointment to outlook of creator

    Hi,
I'm working on a workflow to handle vacation requests. The basic requirements are:
    1. Task is assigned to creators manager who approves/denies the request.
    2. After approved an event is created in a calendar list.
To solve this I have created two lists: A Time Off Requests list where I want users to fill in their data. And a calendar list which holds all approved requests.
I've gotten this to work with Sharepoint Designer 2013 creating a list workflow. The next thing I would love to do is to add the entry to the requestors' outlook calendar aswell. Any suggestions?
I guess the easy solution is to create a link en the "Send Email" action pointing to the event ID in the calendar list and then ask the user to click on that link? Any of you tried this in Sharepoint 2013 using the
http://sharepoint/sites/yoursite/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll ? or should it be done another way now?
    Thanks

To follow up on the "create link" solution I've tried to follow this one for SP2010:
    http://ameyakawale.wordpress.com/2010/05/18/email-a-calendarappointment-link-using-sharepoint-workflow/
Basicly my link would end up being:
    http://servername/Time%20Off/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=109&Cmd=Display&List={8ACF06D0-2629-46D3-AC88-CB17FC58DF62}&CacheControl=1&ID=[%Time
    Off Calendar:Request ID%]&Using=event.ics
After my request has been approved I receive this email where I should be able to add the appointment to my outlook calendar. However the "Calendar:Request ID" is not being converted to a number as you can see below. This Column is one I've created
in the Time Off Calendar which holds the value from the Time Off Request list so I can map the two together
I've also tried to create a Variable with the value of the Request ID as an integer and insert that into the URL by using the String Builder. I receive this error which might be the root cause:
So to "solve" this I would need something else than the GUID for my list? Anyone knows how to get the list ID with a lookup?
    Thanks again
