Sharing 3G between long distances

Hi! I wonder if it works to share my 3G with someone who is 500km's away? I looked it up on the internet but I can't fint anything about this. Can anyone help me?
Both devices are iphone 5.

I'm sorry, but that cannot be done. You can tether to other devices near you, either connected via the USB cable or wifi, but you cannot share your 3G internet connection to someone that is 500km away.

  • Cannot get screen sharing to work long distance...

I set up an AIM account for my mother-in-law so that I could remote screen-share her MacBook and help her with learning how to use it and trouble shoot it (it's a Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook hand-me-down from my wife).
I've set up the account, but cannot get remote screen sharing working. Screen sharing works fine over bonjour, but no go over the internet using AIM. I can control my wife's MBA from my iMac and vice-versa, but neither of us can control her MacBook. When we choose "Ask to share users screen...", we get the pop up window stating "Waiting for response from user", along with the spinning gear icon. If she chooses "Share my screen with...", the pop up window appears on our Macs and we're able to choose accept. But then the pop up window switches to "User would like you to share his or her screen" and just sits there. Nothing happens. On her screen, she gets the message "waiting for response from user" and nothing else happens.
After a long wait, my screen will say, "There was a communication error during your chat. Messages didn't receive a response from..." and gives me the option to report the details to Apple.
    What am I doing wrong?
Her MacBook is running Mavericks, as are our machines.

    Hi,
@mac.com and @me.com ID works as AIM Screen Names  (you add them like they are and existing name) but only if you are using Messages 7 or 8 plus later versions of iChat 6 in Lion.
You should be able to use the Apple Issued IDs in Mavericks.
If you using an AIM Registered name try using it without the @AIM.com or @AOL.com suffix (User Name only)
As AIM can "read" the Apple Database it will think the Apple IDs exist already but may not tell you that is the reason you can't re-register them.
Can you post the info being sent to Apple here ?
However stop the log after about 10 lines of the Binary Images (I will not need it all).

  • Shared variable no longer updates

    All,
I have an RT Systems 2011 and have been using shared variables between the RT and Host. Working for months. Then I renamed a shared variable and it no longer updates. When I try to look at the variable in the NI Distributed System Manager, it reports that it does not exist.
I changed the name back to what it was, it is seen by the System Manager but the current value is not displayed.
I did a remote debug into the RT code and the variable is being updated.
    Any ideas\comments\etc would be appreciated?
    Thanks

What hardware are you using as your real-time target? When you mentioned that you are using "RT Systems 2011", are you using LabVIEW 2011 and the Real-Time Module?
After you updated the shared variable, did you re-deploy it? I highly recommend reading through the “Deployment and Hosting” section of the DeveloperZone Tutorial linked below:

  • Sharing SharedObjects between multiple .swfs

Relatively simple problem; I have a project that I think may be more manageable if I break it up into multiple small .swf files rather than having a gargantuan mega .swf.
Now, I know that I could use a root .swf and load data from the others, but I think that it'll be a lot easier to debug and update if I'm using separate self-contained .swfs, so this is the direction I'm currently investigating.
However, the .swfs won't really work unless I can have user-data persist between them, so I'm wondering if I can load a SharedObject saved by another .swf file? Are there any important caveats that I need to be aware of?
In particular, can anyone give me sample code that would allow me to do this with both an online and offline copy of the files; i.e - if I run the same set of .swfs from haravikk.com, and locally, I want them to still be able to share data with one-another. In this case though I won't need to worry about sharing data between a local copy and haravikk.com, just so long as the files themselves can pass data within whatever domain they're loaded it should be fine.

To do this I still need to make sure that all .swfs are retrieving/flushing their SharedObjects to the same domain though, right?
I'm curious, is there a good way to work out what the right domain is dynamically?
For example; say I have "Menu.swf", and "About.swf", both store in the same folder "MySite", so the files are located at "MySite/Menu.swf" and "MySite/About.swf" respectively. To avoid tying the files to a particular domain-name (so it can still work offline) I'd like to grab the current location of the .swf, and remove the file-name so that I have a domain containing just the enclosing folder.
Is there a best way to do this? Basically so I can have my .swf files using a consistent domain for storing/saving, while still supporting relocating the files, so they will work offline if I copy them to my local machine for example.

  • Monitor vibration over long distance ( 300m)

    Hi everyone,
Currently, I have a project to monitor vibration (16 IEPE channels) from a station that is more than 300m away from monitoring station. Looking at NI's products, I have a few options:
    1. Using ENET-9234:
    - Only 4 channel/module. I need to use 4 modules in total, and need to connect to a router.
    - Ethernet distance is limited at 100m. To reach 300m, I need to use at least 2 repeaters, which are not suitable for my project (off-shore environment)
    2. Using MXI-4 with Fiber Optic: PXI-8336
    - Maximum allowed distance is 200m.NI recommend to add another segment (i.e. add another PXI chassis in between) to extend range to 400m. Or use optical converter to convert between multi-mode fiber to single-mode fiber to extend range
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C86BF63CC73C6721862575F2005A246D
These recommendations are not suitable either due to harsh contion in the sea and difficult maintenance.
    3. Last option is acquire and process data at the site. Then transfer only processed data back to monitoring station over GPIB or RS-485.
I would like to seek your advices on these options. Is there any way to avoid the repeaters in between?
If you have any other ideas, please kindly let me know.
    Thank you very much!
    Have a great week ahead!

  • Color correction in very long distance zoom-in

    Hi,
I made a shot with the Canon XF305 that's basically a  long distance zoom-in from one village to an other (around 1km distance clips-duration=1 minute).
The problem that occurs (because it was taken in the hills with a cloudy sky), that some parts where sunny and other parts with cloud shadow showing color errors.
I made a manual white balance (in the camera before) and the blacks and whites are ok, but I have some problems with mid-red and mid-blue is some parts of the zoom.
What is the best way to color correct something like this. I was thinking about using the scissors tool and separating some part of the clip and then making
some kind of transition between the parts of the clip.
So pro's how is this normally done?!
    Thanks! David

    Hi David,
That sounds like a good strategy and it is what I would do.  It's often easier to correct each section, then use cross dissolves or opacity keyframes to blend sections together rather than keframing the color/brightness.   This technique works really well with camera pans as well.  Good luck!
    Cheers,

  • How to create shared folder between mac and windows

how to create shared folder between mac and windows

Us ean external drive formatted FAT32 or ExFat. Both OSx and Windows can read/write to the drive and both can use the same data files as long as you have a program that can open and save these files. For example, Word running both on OSx and on Windows will be able to work with the same document on the external drive.

  • VoIP CallManager 4.1, Run report on someone's long distance

I need to run a report on an extension (ie x6108) to see all the long distance calls that they have made. (Second to this would be local calls.) I am also using a Unity server 4.0 Build 4.0(5). Thanks for your help.

    Hardware:
    1. You may have it already, if not need to have a router at remote office to establish IP connectivity (site-site VPN).
    2. Need Layer2 PoE switch to power up the phones and provide connectivity to the network.
Select the Switch model best suitable to you depending upon the number of users (or IP Phones at remote office).
    Configuration:
    1. Configure DHCP service on local router at remote office. Phones will get IP-address as well as CallManager address as option 150 ip parameter from DHCP configured on the router and get registered with CallManager located at HQ office.
    2. Configure new device pool and other parameters on the CallManage for remote office.Choose right codecs and pay special attention to bandwidth requirements depending upon the number of expected simultaneous calls between the offices.
    3. Trivial things like assigning extension numbers and related settings.
    4. Implement and configure QoS on the remote office if you are planning to run data as well.
    Optional:
    1. For redundancy, during WAN network outage. Configure SRST on local route on remote office to continue support basic telephony during WAN outage.
    2. May need Voice modules on the router, if you are planning to provide local pstn connectivity at remote office. You'll need to configure and implement dial-plan carefully on the CallManager.

  • Measuring temperature with RTDs over a long distance

I have created an application using the FP-RTD-122 to take RTD mearurements from multiple locations in a plant. The measurments are correct when the RTD leads are connected directly to the module (about 6ft). However when we wire the RTDs in the plant to the module, the measuremtns are incorrect. For instance the temerature is 79C at one location, but shows as between -193C and 19C in Measurment and Automation Explorer. The distance is about 150 ft. I have found a reference in the internet that suggests using a temperature transmitter that converts the RTD signal to a 4 to 20 mA signal. Does anyone have any experience with measuring RTD over long distances? Do I really need a temperature transitter? If so, do I need to use the FP-AI-111 module instead?

    Nate,
RTDs allow temperature measurement by reading the resistance of a sensor. This is normally done by exciting the sensor with a known current and measuring the resulting voltage. There are three general types of RTDs; two-wire, three-wire, and four-wire. Two wire RTDs are less accurate because the wire resistance is indistinguishable from the sensor resistance. Three wire RTDs use two wires on one leg (one to carry the known current and one to measure the voltage) allowing one portion of the wire resistance to be nullified. 4 Wire RTDs use two wires on each leg (one for the excitation current) to nullify the wire resistance. As a result, 4 Wire RTDs are the best ones to use for high precision or long distance measurements. To measure 4 Wire RTDs with FieldPoint, you will need to use the [c]FP-RTD-124 module instead of the [c]FP-RTD-122. With that said, I do not know how well 4 wire RTDs will do at 150 feet. 4-20 mA transmitters will easily handle 150 feet so they will probably be your best option. To measure the 4-20 mA signal, you can use the [c]FP-AI-100, [c]FP-AI-110, [c]FP-AI-111, [c]FP-AIO-600, or [c]FP-AIO-610 modules.

  • Unlimited calls in Mexico, includes long distance ...

    Hello,
I'm wondering if the Unlimited calls plan to Mexico include calls to long distance cell phones (045).
    http://skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/subscriptions/new-unlimited-plans-mexico-russia-brazil?intcmp=ch1...
That would be amazing and would sign up immediatly for years to come.

    Thank you for your reply.
I forgot to ask on my first post if the Unlimited calls plan includes all cities in Mexico, or is the plan limited to certain cities (Mexico, Monterrey, etc)?
    Thanks again.
There are 4 different "unlimited" subscriptions for Mexico, so you would want to be careful in purchasing the right one...
    1. The "Unlimited Mexico Cities" subscription at US$ 6.99/month only covers calls to landline phones in the 3 largest Mexican cities: Mexico City (+52 55), Guadalajara (+52 33), and Monterrey (+52 81). Calls to landline phones outside these 3 area codes, along with calls to any Mexican mobile phone, would have to be paid for with Skype Credit.
    2. The "Unlimited North America" subscription at US$ 7.99/month covers calls to landline phones in the 3 largest Mexican cities listed above, along with all landline and mobile phones in the USA and Canada.  Calls to landline phones in other parts of Mexico, along with any Mexican mobile phone, would have to be paid for Skype Credit.
    3. The "Unlimited Mexico" subscription for landline phones at US$ 19.99/month covers calling to all landline phones in Mexico, not just those in the 3 big cities.  You would still need Skype Credit to cover calls to Mexican mobile phones with this subscription.
    4. The "Unlimited Mexico" subscription for landline and mobile phones at US$ 59.99/month covers calls to all landline and mobile phones throughout Mexico.
Note that calls to Mexican toll-free numbers (those advertised as 01-800 numbers in Mexico) are not possible with Skype.  For these numbers, most operators of Mexican toll-free numbers will offer a non-free number as an alternative - usually for those in and around Mexico City at a local Mexico City landline number (+52 55).  All subscriptions have a fair-use policy.  You can click on "Subscriptions" at the bottom of this page and enter Mexico as the desired country, then you can switch between landline-only subscriptions and those for both landlines and mobiles.  You can also change the currency, if you want to see prices other than US dollars as I've listed them or in euros (the default currency used on that page).
    Hope that helps!

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!

  • Sharing files between users and macs

My husband and I share an iMac. I have a MBA for traveling and my husband a PC laptop (though he rarely uses for private stuff). We both have iPhones.
We are looking for a way to:
    - Share our photos (we don't use iPhoto) and some files. We would like to have this in one shared folder, that we can access from both accounts in the iMac, the MBA and ideally (though not a must) the PC and iPhones. We would both need to have admin rights to edit documents, etc.
    - Have access to all the information in my account on the iMac from the MBA. Ideally, same thing for his and the PC.
    - Have access to all the data remotely when traveling.
    - Have all the data backed up locally (we already have a cloud backup, but we'd like to have a local backup too as it's easier and quicker to access)
We have read a lot about configuration, NAS, time capsule... but we get more and more confused, as we are obviously no tech experts.
Dropbox is not our preferred choice. We already have a cloud backup system. We'd rather have the files stored and accessed locally for everyday use.
Using a NAS to store shared folders and backup the rest sounds good, but they either seem very complicated to set up, or they have mixed reviews in terms of stability, especially to access files remotely.
Timecapsule seems easier and more straightforward, but I'm not sure it would solve the "sharing files between users and macs with admin rights"? It seems to be more focused on backing up the main drive and then providing access to the backed up files. (Though I might be completely mistaken!)
We just can't manage to have one shared folder between both accounts in the iMac. We need to grant admin rights document by document. We don't manage to make it work automatically so we both have one folder to access with full rights for all the contents inside it. And this seems to me like something that should easily be done...?
Any help, advice, proposals... would be greatly appreciated!!!

Move any file you want to the other user to access to the Shared Folder. Anything you put in that folder is available to all users.
    The shared folder is here:

  • Sharing information between tiled view and view bean

I have come across one more problem. I have a search result
page. This search result page has a static text field and a repeated group
(I simplified the page description, for explanation purpose). In the NetD
implementation they are maintaining a page level attribute (say boolean
haveSenisitiveCustomers) and setting this attribute in the
afterDataObjectExecute event. (This data object is associated with the
repeated). In end display event of static text field, they are displaying
message say " due to Registration type, not all customers meeting the
criteria are listed") if the haveSensitiveCustomers flag is set.
After Migration, the boolean flag and static Text Field movedto
SearchResultViewBean and afterDataObjectExecuteEvent has moved to
TiledViewBean. Actual processing done is more complicated than this
explanation. However, it boils down to sharing information between
tiledViewBean and its parent bean. How do we achieve this in the Migrated
    Application?
One way is to add getter methods in the child tiled view bean( to
access in parent view bean, call getRepeated1 and cast to the actual type
and invoke the get methods)Probably the typical solution (I say typical because I don't yet know) will
be to do what you suggest: provide methods between views that can be used to
determine the state needed for processing like this.
However, let me alert you to something that's different than ND, and which
may cause you some trouble. In ND, all retrieving DataObjects associated
with a page executed at one time, and the afterDataObjectExcecuteEvent fired
before any display processing began. However, in JATO, tiled views are
independent objects, and any models associated with them only execute when
the tiled view is first displayed.
Therefore, if the static test field you refer to appears in the page before
the tiled view, then the tiled view will not have executed its associated
model before the static text field is rendered. You will never see the
static text field display the text you want because you won't have the
information at display time. (If the text field appears after the repeated,
then it's not problem, as the display of the tiled view will have executed
the associate model before the field displays.)
The solution is to manually reference the tiled view and its associate model
before they would normally execute. You would execute the model and set the
tiled view's setAutoRetrieveEnabled() to false to prevent it from executing
the model a second time. Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be this:
    beforeStaticTextDisplay(...)
// Force the tiled view to execute the associated model
    Repeated1TiledView tiledView=
    (Repeated1TiledView)getChild("Repeated1");
    tiledView.beginDisplay();
    tiledView.setAutoRetrieveEnabled(false);
Although the beginDisplay() method will be executed twice in this case (once
deliberately, above, and later during actual display), there should be no
overhead. The beginDisplay() method doesn't do anything anyway except
execute associated auto-retrieving models and fire the
    afterAllModelsExecute() event.

  • Sharing photos between multiple users on one Mac

I'm trying to figure out how to easily share photos imported in by one user to other users in my family on my mac. I'm assuming we don't have to import them multiple times. It seems cumbersome to this new mac user to share them. I find the issue with iTunes. Any help?

-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.
