Sharing an iMovie with another Mac user

I am a new Mac user.
I am taping my nephew's football games for his coach. I imported the video into iMovie and created the project. Now, I am struggling to figure out the best way to share the project with the coach. I had anticipated putting in onto a flash drive, but I keep getting a message saying that the 5.65 GB movie is "too large for ovum's format." I am trying to use an 8GB flash drive. Help!!

Where is he viewing the contents of the Dropbox? If it's online then all he'll see are the contents of the domain package. If you use the deskltop Dropbox application on each machine to synce the domain file this is what you'll see in the local Dropbox folder:
Don't try to access the domina file online, just in the local Dropbox shared folder.
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home()/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Old Toad, I read your previous instructions from a couple of years ago about sharing the Domain folder with another user. I found the Domain file, and uploaded it to DropBox and shared it with the domain owner. He sees it in his dropbox but as separate files in the folder. How do I instruct him now? I can't even find the Library/Applications Support/iWeb file from where I got the domain file. It doesn't turn up in FInder so how can I tell him where to go? Any help gretefully appreciated.

Can't audio chat with another Mac user who is using AIM but I can when they are using iChat. Is there a way that I can fix this problem.

The Mac OS X version of AIM is not capable of audio or video chats. There is no way around this.

Sharing an i book created in iphoto with another .mac user

I need to have another .mac user look at an i book that I have created in i photo. Does this person have to have a .mac website for this to work? If not, how would he view this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you want your
friend to be able to work with the book in iPhoto or
just look at it?
If it's just look at it then do a Print to PDF and
send them the pdf file. If it's too large to email
then you an post it to your Public folder on your
iDisk for them to download.
If you want them to work on it in iPhoto then there's
no easy way to accomplish that. One method would be
the following:
1 - duplicate you iPhoto Library folder and name it
Book Library.
2 - open the Book library (launch iPhoto with the
Option key depressed and, when asked, opt to locate
the Book library and open it.
3 - delete all of the photos except those in the
book, all albums, slideshows and any non book items.
4 - now you can either burn the Book library folder
to a CD and get it to your friend or make an archive
of it (Control-click on the Book library folder and
select Create archive in the contextual menu) and
upload that to your iDisk Public folder where your
friend can download it.
You friend can then unzip the library folder and open
it as noted above.

TIP:
For insurance against the
iPhoto database corruption that many users have
experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the
Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If
problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any
photos or thinks there are no photos in the library,
replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the
backup will often get the library back. By keeping
it current I mean backup after each import and/or any
serious editing or work on books, slideshows,
calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem
pops up and you do need to replace the database file,
you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long
to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application
(requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that
will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your
iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder,
replacing any previous version of it. You can

How do I stop an automatic 'sharing' of my files with another Mac user in my address book?

I have just installed Lion and it has started to 'share' access to other mac users files - all of which come from my address book. How do I stop this and delate the links that have been created ? Very embarrassing right now - some of these people are my clients!

Sharing ITunes/IPhoto with another MAC?

Have a Mac Pro on Snow Leopard and Mac Mini on Tiger. Also have a wireless Airport Extreme.
Am I able to have one ITunes/IPhoto library and share with the other Mac without using a Network Media Center? Thinking about the Iomega Home Media Network Drive. If able, assume would be best to put everything on the Mac Pro since I have so much space than the Mac Mini.

I believe that the sharing declaration is done entirely in iTunes and iPhoto. It's easy to try. My goal is to be able to sync my wife's and my iphone to the same itunes library/playlists, since we share that music. What I dont understand is haw to sync my playlists to the second accounts user's iphone? When I connect and pull up itunes, and select to sync specific playlists, it only gives me the option to select new playlists created on her accounts, not the ones I am sharing with the second account? Is this how it should work...in other words, it I add a new song to my library, it will also show up in the second accounts library, along with the one that is visible as my shared library. Does the second account just need to make their own playlists, vs being able to select specific ones on my account to sync?

My husband I both have iphone 3g's and separate .mac accounts, but we would like to be able to sync our calendars...is this possible? If so how do we set it up?

Starting chat with another .mac user

Set up IChat with my sister in India. We both have .mac accounts - when I try to start a chat with her, it brings up a box with a service drop down menu. It only offers AIM, not .mac. Am I doing something wrong?

The screen name you get when signing up for a .Mac account uses the AIM service for text, audio, and video chats.

Sharing internet connection with another mac

I have a 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac with 2 GB memory running Leopard 10.5.1 and connect to the internet through a cable modem into my ethernet port. I have internet sharing and Airport on. My daughter has an iMac G4 running 10.3.9 and gets her internet connection through my computer through an Airport connection. This was working well until I upgraded to Leopard and now she is unable to connect. Either my computer does not show up on her list of available networks or it will show up only briefly. When it does show and she tries to connect, she gets an error message stating there is a problem connecting. Never happened before he Leopard upgrade. Any ideas?

I think I have done exactly as you suggest. The USB modem is in the MBA USB port and connects to the mobile signal giving a good, fast connection - allowing my MBA to use safari and mail very well and with good download speeds. I go in to system preferences, internet and network, sharing and internet sharing in the "share connection from" I choose ZTEUSBModem. In the "to computers using" I tick Airport. In airport options I've tried 40 and 128 bit WEP. The ipad sees a wireless network and connects using the password I set in the internet sharing, airport options section. However, if you try to look at a web page, it just sits there for a bit but doesn't work. I tried my Iphone 4 last night and got the same result. Both work fine with my usual home wifi network, just can't get them to play nice with this USB mobile broadband modem....

I have a friend that has a an apple powerbook, and on Ichat it says that I can audio chat with him, but any time I or he try to connect and do that, it says that one or the other of us didn't respond. So, how can we fix this problem? Its driving both of us crazy.

The operating system may be the same but the Numbers applications are likely different. You need to get the apps in sync. Unfortunately, the Numbers (and Pages as well) saga is pretty confusing (and frustrating). Here's some info from the iWork resident version expert (PeterBreis0807):
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs.

One of the most secure way to share files over the internet is to use an sftp server.
Goto your system preferences-->sharing-->turn on remote login.
Then on your router's or firewalls port forward tcp port 22 to your mac. Then you can log into each others mac using an SFTP client such as transmit or cyberduck.
