Sharing and reviewing pdfs

Hi, I am looking to find out if there is a way that when I "share" a pdf for review through acrobat.com. is it possible to see when someone has published their comments without needing to either open the file, tracker panel in acrobat or visit acrobat.com? I.e is there a growl type function that can highlight comments have been made on a particular review so that you know to go and revisit the file?
Often the file can get posted for review and forgotten about with other jobs getting in the way, so a simple reminder like this would prompt us to go and make alts.

Not sure if this is of any help but the Tracker does display the file name in bold when new comments have been added that you've not yet looked at, that might be a workable workaround for now? E.g. it could be a trigger for you to download new comments added? You'd still need to remember to check the Tracker once in a while though ;-)
If you were working with a shared server/directory instead, you could probably install a script in the directory that monitors the modification date on the comment .xml files? and then sends you an email if a new file appears (new reviewer) or existing file (current reviewer) is modified? Not sure how you could do that when using Acrobat.com . You might want to post that query on the AcrobatDotCom forum. http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobatdotcom/

Repair broken link between shared review pdf and server?

Two weeks ago my coworker renamed the folder on our server in which our shared review pdfs are stored, not realizing she would break the link between all the shared review pdfs and the server. I've been trying to find a fix to restore that link, but I can't seem to find a way to do it? Is there a way? I have about 20 pdfs that I now cannot see the comments that were published prior to the break in the link.

You renamed the hashed folder name on the server?!! Unless you can remember that exact hashed folder name then you won't be able to recover the comments the normal way. You can scan through the XML file and find them and then re-apply them with the text contained in the file, but that's about it.

How can I get Tracker to find a shared review PDF initiated in another domain?

I initiated a shared review for a PDF and stored it on a network server in domain X. Subseqauently, the server was moved into a different domain, call it Y.
Now, Acrobat Tracker can't find the PDF ... and reviewers can no longer access the PDF.
How can I get Tracker to find the PDF in the new domain Y?

No, this is not possible. You need to initiate the review again. This is because the review server information is embedded inside the PDF and when you change the review server, the JavaScript embedded in PDF still refers to the old server. So Tracker is unable to locate the review PDF.
If the old review has comments by other reviewers, you can save it as an archive and initiate review on new server on this new PDF. This way all the review comments can be retained in the PDF but they will be published "on behalf of" the initiator now.

Shared review PDFs - email invitation

We switched from Lotus Notes to Outlook a few months ago. Now when I create a shared review PDF, it asks me where to send the invitation to. I type in my Outlook e-mail address, but it then asks me to log in to Lotus Notes. I enter my Lotus Notes e-mail address. It goes. Then I receive the invitation in my Outlook. Where is the setup in Acrobat so I can get rid the Lotus Notes step?

As an update, I have now also tried using Acrobat Pro XI (on both a Mac and a PC), and also installed an Outlook update, and it is still giving the same 'Could not send email invitation error'.
I urgently need to send these files out today (now 24 hrs over deadline), but I have run out of ideas of things to try.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem would be appreciated.

Initiating Shared or Online PDF Review & Commenting from ES

Does anyone know if it is possible to initiate a Shared or Online Review / Commenting process from LiveCycle ES ?
I have a process where at a mid point the 'doucment' (e.g. a form) needs to be sent to 10-20 different people to get their input before the process is finalised.
I know how to convert the form to a Flat PDF and ARE it with Commenting Enabled and eMail it etc - but not how to initiate a Shared / Online review.
It's easy to do from Acrobat 8 manually but I can't see any 'Review/Comment' type facility in ES.

I have the same problem on my iPhone4. It is obviously a bug in the software. Once it pops out I am locked out of my phone. I can't even begin to describe the frustration this causes. All that stuff about holding down the buttons is useless. the phone won't even shut off. I can take a screen shot like that or go to voice control. Even when I got to a wifi connection, I can't get on. This app blocks everything else. This is a serious bug and can have serious consequences. The only thing my phone would do is go to voice control and let me play iTunes or phone people. Some smart phone hey?

Impossible to review pdf with Adobe Reader 9.0

Hello,
I'm trying to use the option in Acrobat sending pdf to review by users working with Adobe Reader but it
doesn't work as described in the help.
I'm sending the review with Acrobat Professional version 7.0 and the receiver with Adobe Reader 9.0.
Normally it should work as it is indicated Adobe Reader 7.0 or higher, but the receiver is not able to add comments and the toolset which should be provide according to the Acrobat review wizard doesn't open.
Who can help?

With Acrobat 7 you can only send out Browser Based Review, (which is replaced by shared reviews in version 9).
The reviewers will need to open the PDF inside a browser, and have access to the location of the PDF to be reviewed.

Depending on when you created your iCloud account, your iCloud email addresses and aliases may end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com domains. Learn how these email addresses are granted.
Review these scenarios to see which one applies to you:
If you created an iCloud account on or after September 19, 2012, your email address ends with @icloud.com. Learn more about @icloud.com mail addresses.
If you created an iCloud account before September 19, 2012, or moved to iCloud with an active MobileMe account before August 1, 2012, you have both @me.com and @icloud.com email addresses.

Can I copy a sticky note from a review PDF to a non-review PDF? If the answer is yes, please tell me how to do it.

Try saving the review file as an archived copy (File > Save as Archive Copy) and copying from the copy.

Saving a review PDF

Hi all,
I'm just getting into Extendscript for FM 12 so bear with me.
I have found the FM_Outputs_CondText file which does everything I need it to do except for I want the file to be saved as a review PDF. I've found the FCodes.KBD_SAVEASPDFREVIEW command and can get it to open the saveas dialog. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to interact with this. Any thoughts on how I can achieve the following process:
1: Apply conditional text show/hide (included in FM_Outputs_CondText)
2: Change output file name (depends on how I achieve step 3)
3: Save as review pdf
4: Move to next conditional text show/hide (included in FM_Outputs_CondText)
Any suggestions of what to do or where to look would be amazing.
(any FM scripter/user groups in Portland, OR?)

ZMM2.70 w/2.71app-File Sharing download but PDF won't open

File Sharing PDF's worked flawlessly until we upgraded to v2.70 on back end... then the iOS devices recieved the 2.71 app update.
Select a PDF from the File Share and it will download (or request overwrite).
Once the download or overwrite is completed the ZENworks app closes and the PDF doesn't open in Adobe Reader.
Try again and it must be located somewhere on the device because it asks about an overwrite... but same results.
Have a few PDF readers on the device and would normally ask which reader to open the PDF with.
Doesn't present anything to the user.
Almost like the command to open a reader is broken...but not sure.
I can download the .3gp video and it will download and play like it always has.
Checked backend server for a v2.71 update but no updates available.
Any ideas?

Is there an app that allows you to download and read pdf file on your ipod touch (5G)?

There are many apps that allow reading PDFs. GoodReader allows downloading some items. It all depends upon how the site handles the download. It also uses file sharing in iTunes.
iBooks also reads and had file sharing.

How can I make background images (in p classes) appear in Review PDF?

Storing and reading PDF's

i am trying to figure out a way to store and read pdf's (and possibly other) documents on my iphone. i would like to store them on the iphone instead of on dropbox or iCloud.
right now i have a suggestion to use iBooks which seems to require me to email the document to myself and then to download it and a suggestion to use Adobe Reader for the iphone which does not get very good reviews.
does anyone have a good way to get pdf (and possibly other) docs to my phone so i can read them? i'd prefer not to use the pages/numbers/whatever iCloud storage as this requires individual uploads, i am not sure i can upload pdfs and also i would /much/ rather just have a disk on my desktop on my HARD DRIVE that automatically synced to my iphone every time i connected the iphone to the laptop or desktop...
