Sharing: Any way to "bypass" the max number of simultaneous connections of

I want to share one computer at the beginning of a course with 22 (young) users.
Only ten can connect to it simultaneously.
Is there a way to do it - without installing a "server" $$$ ??
Clients are 10.4.11 and shared computer is an runs Leopard.
Thanks.

On one machine? Legally? no. That's the limit of the license you agreed to, and is why Server exists.
I'm not even sure it can be done illegally, and even if it could be done, no one here is going to be stupid enough to say
If you have multiple machines, you might be able to get there via resharing - have one machine mount the sharepoint from the first machine and reshare it to another 10 clients - but you'd need three machines to cover your 22 users, performance would suffer and there may be access control issues if multiple users are trying to use the same files at once. Not to mention that three systems costs more than a single copy of Mac OS X Server...

  • Max number of simultaneous connections?

    Hi everyone!
how is possible to determine in advance the max number of simultaneous connection for my FMS?
    thanks!

    Hi,
Like Jay had mentioned the limitation on the number of connection to server depends on the capability of your server.
You can get the maximum number of connections made to the server, number of active clients... etc details through Administration APIs.
'getServerStats' gives you the "total_connects", which is the maximum number of connections made to the server. "connected" property will return the number of active clients to your server at one point. It also has many more statistics for your reference. This api returns the overall information of the server. If you want to get the details for specific vhost, you can use getVHostStats or getActiveVHostStats. To get more details on Administration API, refer your pdf documentation on "Administration API", that gets installed in your system under "$Root\Flash Media Server\documentation\flashmediaserver_3.5_administrationAPI.pdf".

Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

    Hello Irene,
you should have a look at Adobe's database, to see what's stored/saved about your accounts. Here you will find general infos about your Adobe Account

I am trying to switch laptops with my mom, and successfully wiped mine and restored it, but now the password that she used on her computer isn't working on this computer. If Disk Warrior does not work you can try the following steps (but they may not work if the disk has a hardware error).
Get the disk (DVD or CD) that came with the system (since you have it listed as 10.6.8).  If it is 10.7 or 10.8 use the Recovery partition to boot from or the USB installer if you have that option.
Insert the disk then power down
HOLDING the C key, power up to boot from the disc.
    Get to Disk Utility
If Disk Utility will now show your hard drive, use DU to REPAIR the disk.
When it completes the Repair process successfully as indicated in DU, do a shut down.  If Repair is not successful then an different course of action is indicated below.
Then HOLDING THE APPLE (or Command key depending on your keyboard) KEY AND THE OPTION KEY AND THE LETTER P AND R KEYS, continue hiolding them until you hear the chime tone for the THIRD time then release all four keys.
If REPAIR is not successful, use the Install disc as a boot and REINSTALL THE OS X OPERATING SYSTEM  DO NOT ERASE THE DISK OR VOLUME FIRST.  REPEAT DO NOT erase the disk or volume before trying to reinstall the OS X operating system.  After re-installing the OS do a software update.  Note that ERASING the disk is NOT required to do an OS re-install.  This allows your existing data and application files to remain.
If that fails then you are down to the "bitter end" of erasing the volume and reinstalling the OS and then all the other software.
If erasing the Volume fails then your last hope is to completely erase the entire hard drive, repartion the disk  and try a re-install.
If that fasils then you may have a defective hard disk.

  • Stolen iPod - Is there any way to flag the serial number with Apple Service

My iPod Product (red) that I received for Christmas was recently stolen out of my car. I've done the police report and all that, but was wondering if there was any way to flag my serial number so that if someone were to try & register it or get service that it would be blocked? Yes, I'll replace it ASAP, but my kids bought it for me with their own money and it just really makes me sick that it was stolen and I'll probably never see it again.

Apple have no procedure to track, trace or block your iPod from use. You've done as much as you can by informing your local police.

If you eject the SIM card tray the serial number is also there.  It's tiny, but there.
When my iPhone won't turn on I first charge it with a known good cable for a few hours.  If nothing after that I begin a warranty lookup for repair.

  • Any way to bypass the router?

Hi, I'm wondering if there's a way for me to run my internet connection through my router yet bypass it entirely at the same time. I've got the WRT54GS and my brother needs the wireless connection for his laptop, but I'm wired into it through the LAN port and am having problems with various programs and web-based apps. Obviously we're sharing the one internet connection, but I simply want to bypass the router settings so I don't have to deal with the firewall and ports and everything else.
Sorry if this has been asked a million times before -- I've honestly searched for an answer and haven't found it.

Yeah, it's just that I've spent way too much time already trying to figure out all the settings and stuff; I'm not that computer savvy and I just don't have the patience or free time to do this anymore. Of course I can appreciate what a router is capable of doing in the hands of someone with a great deal more knowledge of them than I, but honestly I was completely happy with the way things were a few weeks ago when I didn't have the thing and I'd be entirely satisfied with this switch setup you mentioned. Unfortunately I don't know what a switch is.
Any insight into what I should be looking at purchasing would be more than helpful.
Also, from your suggestion, I'm also assuming there's no way of simply turning off all the router settings and stuff for the router's LAN port or whatever?
    Thanks again.

  • We had our MAC book Pro stolen and we registered it with Apple. Is there any way to recover the serial number for police reports if the receipt does not have the serial number on it? Thx

We had our Mac Book Pro stolen and have not been able to recover the serial number from our Best Buy receipt. We did register it with Apple during the set-up and downloaded music on it thru ITunes.  Any chance we can recover the serial number from somewhere?  Any details would be helpful.  Thank you!

You can try going here, using the same AppleID you used on the machine:
    https://supportprofile.apple.com/
You should see a list of all the devices registered to you

  • The max number of simultaneous active connections

Hi. We have a 4x NT server running Weblogic 4.5.1 with the performance pack
enabled. We can only get about 7 or 8 active simultaneous connections in our
tests (using LoadRunner with 50 users). The app server log, on startup,
records that 8 native threads are assigned to the server. We are wondering
if there is a relationship here.
We have bumped up the "executeThreadCount" value from the default of 15 and
    have not seen any change.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rob.
We are running on a 100Mbps network. It is alot of data though.
The servlet is to just drive our the backend components so we can have some
idea of their performance without the rest of the system there. We are still
seeing the same behavior with it. We are switching to a scenario with more
of our midtier components in place. This setup uses a JSP page that drives
an EJB that is the interface to the system.
There is still a possibility though that a servlet may come into play in
    some scenarios.

    Hi again Rob.
It appears that its something to do with the servlet that we wrote to
    drive
the backend for the tests. I've enclosed a test servlet that is similar,
except it doesn't do anything except send back about 35K of data. Itshows
the same behavior as the one that actually drives our stuff (that isabout
    35 TPS).
35K is a relatively large servlet response. Is this typical for your
application? Also, if I understand correctly, you are sending 35K / tx ** 35
trans / s which is ~ 1MB / s. What sort of network connection is thisover?
    >
Let me know if you are still having problems.
    -- Rob
The round trip (a transaction) is from load runner to the servlet (via a
POST) and the response from the POST.
Thanks for your help so far.

    Hi Rob.
Yes its a 4 CPU NT server.
The connections are not refused. They all get accepted, but only 7-8
    are
actively being serviced, while the others wait. Can you provide some more detail about your architecture? Forinstance,
what is Load Runner measuring (ie what does a round-trip entail, what
    is a
    transaction?)
    -- Rob
The CPUs are not busy. I
believe the max CPU utilization that has been recorded is around
    60%,
    but
its often lower (performance recoding is done using PerfMon). Our
    main
concern is that we cannot max out the CPUs, so something isthrottling
    things.
In the tests we can get about 30-34 transactions per second (tps)with a
transaction being a round trip recorded by Load Runner. The 30 tpsvalue
    is
pretty consistent. If we crank up the number of users (say to 150)
    we
    still
get 30 tps, but the time for a transaction increases rather
    dramatically
    (to
over 10 seconds). The CPU utilization never really changes. The 30
    tps
    value
is also very consistent over time. We've run some 10 hour tests.
I was wrong on the "executeThreadCount" not making a difference. I
    found
    out
that increasing it to 50 from the default of 15 bumped up thetransaction
rate initially but only by a couple of percent. The rate fell afterawhile
back down to the magic 30 tps range. The fellow running the test
    tried
    an
executeThreadCount value of 300 once and saw no real affect.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Is there any way of changing the iphone number

Hey, when i bourght my iphone, i entered in a number, which i now want to change to a replace with a different number. Can i do this, and how??
The number i entered was registered to a sim card on O2 UK, and once i entered it and continued my sim card deactivated itself and has been ever since. Can i change this and, and enter a different number for the phone to work on.

    Majsampath wrote:
Yes. Yesterday I changed the number on my iPhone. You have to visit the AT&T store and get a new SIM card. They give it free of cost. Then you have to insernt it in the iphone. That is fairly simple. Once that is done you can go through iTunes and activiate your iPhone again. It took just a few minutes to activate and my iPhone has a new number!
Did this reset any of your settings or contacts etc?

  • Is there any way to bypass the

wheels in the calendar and just enter date and time from the keyboard?  I find getting the wheels to stop accurately to be nearly impossible, rendering the calendar a major annoyance.

    Afraid not.
Now if you have access to another calendar, for example, if you have outlook on your computer, you can make the appointment there then e-mail it to yourself and import it into the calendar app and the app will display your appointment.
Is it faster than the date wheels? Dunno. just another way to do it.
Another way would be to look for another app.

  • Any way to bypass iPhone backup so I can upgrade to 2.1?

I'm really looking forward to upgrading my iPhone to 2.1, but in order to upgrade it has to backup the iPhone first. It's been running for an hour now and the progress bar has barely moved! At this pace it'll take at least 10 hours to backup! And if I receive a phone call, I'm screwed. Since this is my business phone, chances are really high that I'm going to get a call in the next several hours.
So is there any way to bypass the backup so I can install 2.1?

You're suggestion works if you don't mind rebuilding everything afterwards. I was able to restore to 2.1 in a few minutes, but the iPhone wouldn't pull in stuff from my last backup. Something about it being incompatible.
So now I'm in the process of rebuilding/updating everything. Luckily most of my stuff can quickly be added back like contacts, music, etc. All my email accounts are IMAP, so no big deal there either. And now since 3rd party apps update a LOT quicker, that part won't be so painful.
