Sharing apps between itunes accounts

My husband  & I have 2 separate itunes accounts. We got our son an ipod & we each want to 'give' him some of our apps and songs, etc.
How can we both do this in sharing? Sharing sounds like it is one 'HOME' account.

Apps cannot be shared using different AppleID. Use your Apple ID to sync.

Can you create a shared playlist between 2 iTunes accounts? It would be easier if I could copy songs from one account to the other. However, when I am on the MBP and open the shared account on the iMac, I can see and play the iMac music from the MBP, but I can't seem to be able to transfer songs.

  • Sharing iPhone apps between two accounts on a single mac.

Firstly, apologies if this topic has been covered many times before, I've tried to look, but can't find the exact answer I need.
I have recently purchased two iphones and want to use them on seperate apple ID's - I want different iCloud storage for each phone.
I have a macbook which has two accounts (one for me and one for my wife).  When I login to my account I have access to my itunes account and when my wife logins into her account she has access to her itunes account.
I have followed the instructions for sharing musics between two users on the same mac - by moving the itunes media folder to the shared folder on my mac.  I have copied everything in that folder (music, movies, apps etc).  I have also set up home sharing as I believe that you can share apps between itunes accounts using it.  Everything seems to have worked ok in terms of her itunes being able to access the music, movies etc, but the apps don't seem to work properly.  I went through the subfolders of the itunes media folder and changed the folder permissions to read and write for everybody (because I was getting a permissions error) and she now has access to the apps that are there (on my itunes account), but the apps that she has downloaded on her phone are not being transferred to the macbook.  I've tried the reset warnings suggestion and that hasn't solved the issue.
Am I doing something wrong?  Should the apps folder within the itunes media folder not be moved with the music when transferring to the shared folder?  Any ideas why music and movies sharing is working ok, but not apps?
    Thanks in advance!

Note that when it says "publicly accessible location", it needs to be a place where everyone has read and write access. The most common such place is the Shared folder in the Users folder.

  • Is there a way to stop sharing apps between my iphone and my daughters ipad. We share the same email and itunes account.

is there a way to stop sharing apps between my iphone and my daughters ipad...we share the same email and itunes account.

You can keep the same Apple ID for purchases, but set up her own iCloud account for email and syncing.
You can easily and effectively use the same ID for purchases.
What you do is use the apple ID you have been using for app/book/movie/music purchases. In Settings > Store, make sure you are using your usual apple ID.
Then, set up an icloud (@me.com) account for you on your phone, and one for your daughter on her phone. In Settings > iCloud, make sure each of you are using your new iCloud accounts, and not your Apple ID.
Also, in Settings > Messages > Receive At, make sure you are using your iCloud accounts
This way, all of your purchases are using one account, and you can effectively use iCloud.

  • I have an apple developer account to make a new app, but I need to give access to the designer without sharing my payment info or allowing him to have access to my icloud, apps or itunes account. There is some way to have another password?

I have an apple developer account to make a new app, but I need to give access to the designer without sharing my payment info or allowing him to have access to my icloud, apps or itunes account. There is some way to have another password?

The designer is usually someone who just handles the user interface portion of the code. The developer would handle core functionality. I assumed you were the developer and the designer was the designer. You are the client and your "designer" is the developer.
Ideally, you should create a business account so that you can add someone to your team. That is the way it is supposed to work. Otherwise, you will have to ask for the final source code so that you can build and submit the app yourself. You should always have the source code regardless. You should always perform the submission under your own account too. Otherwise, it is the developer's app, not yours.
Sharing accounts is against the Apple Developer agreement anyway. The App Store Gold Rush is over. Now it is mostly zombie apps and competing fraudsters. You don't want to give someone access to your iTunes account. You really don't want to give someone access to your bank account either.
The best solution would be to convert your account to a business account. You may be able to have the developer submit the app and then transfer it to you.

  • Can you share music between iTunes accounts on the same computer

Can you share music between iTunes accounts on the same computer? My kids iPods are under my account now with all of our shared music but they want their own iTunes accounts. I would like to transfer the music and apps that they purchased under my account to their new accounts... Is this posible?

Did you enable the display of system files and hidden files and folders?
by the way, how can i stop this from happening another time.
    Make a backup!
i had music there for over 6 years.
Well you must have updated iTunes once or twice in that time. Do you have some sort of "tidying" app that is supposed to clean "unnecessary" files. If so perhaps it is too aggressive.

i just upgraded my itunes account tonight.  i have a question: is the switching between itunes accounts legal?  How do they know you are not getting a friends account info and watching their movies?  Does anyone know the answer to how this works and if it is legal?

The potential to associate a computer to an account for 90 days has been possible for a number of years like it has been on iOS devices, and can happen if you use iTunes Match, automatic downloads or redownload past purchases (though, based on some posts I've seen, it doesn't always seem to happen) - I believe it's an attempt to try and stop people logging into their account on other people's computers or devices and redownloading/sharing their content, not to stop people having multiple accounts.
It shouldn't stop you buying new content on the account, just doing any of the above three things. If you want to do one of them on your other account then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will remove the current association, but if you then do one of them on the other account then you are likely to start a 90 association to that account instead : Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support.

how can I transfer purchased apps from itunes account to old iphone?

You can sync them under apps on iTunes if they are in your iTunes library.
you can go into the App store on the device, tap on "updates" and then "purchases" download the apps you want.

  • Hi. My husband and I have always shared the same iTunes account.  Since installing iCloud, all our contacts and calenders have merged on our iPhone 4, which we do not want.  How do I rectify this? Does my husband need to set up his own apple ID?

Hi. My husband and I have always shared the same iTunes account.  Since installing iCloud, all our contacts and calenders have merged on our iPhone 4, which we do not want.  How do I rectify this? Does my husband need to set up his own apple ID?  If so, where do I need to change his email address info, so that his calender and contacts remain his?  Thank you

You can continue to use the current AppleID for iTunes, but your husband can create a new AppleID to use to create a new iCloud account that will be his own and not overlap with yours.  If you do not have another email address to use for an AppleID, just get a free Gmail account and use that.
You can have as many AppleIDs as you want (or at least, as many as you have email addresses for).  You can use a separate AppleID for the store, another for iCloud, and even another for iMessage if you wish.
You will want to keep the current one as the shared one for the store as all your previous purchases are permanently tied to it, and thus you need that AppleID to update or redownload your current purchased content.

    Not necessarily...
You would need to check the Terms and Conditions for the Mac App Store and possibly iTunes for clarity on that assumption...

  • HT1539 Transferring digital copies between iTunes accounts

    Hi
I have recently set up my own iTunes account, but digital copies of films I have got in the past are on my old account & the redeeming codes won't let me download them again. Does anyone know if its possible to transfer digital copies between iTunes accounts?
If not, is there any way I can get these films on my iPad that's linked to my new account?
Any advice anyone can give me will be helpful. Cheers.

It's not possible to transfer 'normal' iTunes purchases between accounts, and I assume that the same thing applies to digital copies. You should be able to copy them onto the computer that you sync the iPad from, authorise that account on it (via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option in iTunes), add them to its iTunes (File > Add To Library), and then sync them to your iPad

  • Sharing apps between two iTunes accounts

    Aloha all,
My wife and I have two iMacs, two iPhones and two ipads. We have purchased music and apps on separate iTunes accounts. She has purchased an iPad app that I'd like to put on my iPad. Can it be shared or do I have to buy it too?
    Thanks!

  • Can you transfer between itunes accounts using home sharing

I am wanting buy an Ipad 2 as a present and pre load some apps for them on it. Ill have to sync it to my itunes account to do this. so how do i go about ensuring what i have downlaoded doesnt get lose when they then use their itunes account? Would having to 2 accounts on one computer help?

Apps are locked to the iTunes Store account under which they were purchased and cannot be transferred to another account. Unless the recipient of this gift will be living with you or is someone who you would trust with your iTunes Store account ID and password, preloading the iPad won't be practical since, without your iTunes Store account information, anything you load on the iPad will be erased when the recipient syncs it to their computer. You can gift the apps, if you wish, which would allow the recipient to download the apps through his or her own iTunes Store account. Or you can give an iTunes card along with the iPad and let the person choose their own apps.
    Regards.

  • Sharing between itunes accounts and computer/iphone

My husband and I each have our own itunes accounts. I want to put some of his music (from his itunes library on the computer) into my iphone music library. We can't figure it out. Homesharing doesn't appear to be working and drag/drop doesn't work either.
We both have the latest version of the software installed on our respective devices (iphone 4s has 5.1 and computer has 10.6.1.7)

    Many thanks.
We will need to get his music into your iTunes in order to sync it to the phone. Your jump drive technique is a good way of doing it, but home sharing is also an option (assuming both computers are on the same wireless network).
If some of the music you want to shift from him was bought from the iTunes Store, I'd set up the Home Share using the Apple ID that the music was bought with.
See the following document for instructions on how to turn on Home Sharing on both computers:
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
Have iTunes open on both computers. On your computer, select his library in the iTunes source pane as per the following screenshot:
You can pick and choose which items you want to copy across. (Select the items and then click Import down in the bottom right hand corner.) If you import a lot, the transfer is going to take a while.
If you do things in several batches over an extended period of time, it might be easiest for you to have "Items not in my library" displaying in the Show menu rather than "All items". (That will cut down on the possibility of accidentally importing duplicates.)
Once you've got the items in your library, you'll be able to sync them to your phone.

  • Sharing apps between 2 user accounts

I have set up my iMac with 2 user accounts (one for me as the administrator and one for my wife). We have downloaded a check book program called Moneydance. I want my wife to be able to access it from her account even though I installed it on my account. I asked the guy at the Apple store and he told me to put it in the "Public" folder. I did that and it didn't work. I even tried it with a simple word document. No luck. Any ideas?

Technically, you don't install applications "on" an account. You install them into a folder or other file system location & the access controls for that location determine who can use it. In the default configuration, everybody has access to the root level Applications folder, so this is where you normally install apps that all accounts can use.
Since by default most of the locations in your account's home folder are not accessible to other accounts, any apps installed into any of those locations would normally be accessible only to to your account. You can grant other accounts access to items in locations in your home folder, but you must remember that unless they have at least read access to all the folders that enclose the items, they can't see them to access them.
Because this can get complicated, unless you have some reason to allow application access only to certain other accounts, just installing the app in question to the root Applications folder is the simplest solution.
