Sharing clip markers across projects

I'm using FCE4. I have a .mov file from an HD camera. What I want to do is go through the long clip and add a bunch of extended markers to make it easier to find key footage later on. This part I know how to do. Here's the problem. Let's say I add this clip to project A and project B. At the time I add the clip to each project the clip contains all the markers already in place. Now let's say while working on project A I add two more markers to the clip. If I then go to project B the two new markers do not exist in the clip.
So my question is how do I share a clip and its markers across multiple projects such that if I add a new marker to the clip in a project the new marker also shows up automatically for the clip in the other projects too?
Here's what I tried so far (and it didn't work). Create project A. Add the clip. Add a bunch of markers. Right-click on the clip and select Copy. Create project B. Paste the clip into project B. Add new marker to clip in project B. New marker not in clip in project A.
Thanks.

Bummer. I was afraid of that. Thanks.
P.S. I just spent the last week making great use of your book. Well done.

  • Sharing of Tests across Projects

Is it possible to share Tests across Projects:
    e.g.
    Say I create a Project say v1.0, with requirements R1.1, R1.2 and R1.3 and create Tests named T1, T2, T3.
Subsequently, when I create Project v2.0, is it possible to search and map T1, T2 to R2.1, 2.2 for the purpose of regression test coverage tracking.
    Thanks.

    Hi
You can clone projects, but I don't think is possible to map requirements of tests from one project to another.

  • Sharing Site.Master Across Projects

I'm trying to figure out the best way in an ASP.net application to share my site.master file across multiple projects in the same solution.
Currently I have one project called Common which has the actual site.master. Then in my other projects I have added the site.master as a link. The problem is, it isn't recognized by any pages I create using the linked file. It shows up when I create a new
page and can be selected, but when the page is generated, the MasterPageFile="" is blank even though I selected it on the page creation menu. If I type it in manually it just gets a red squiggly.
If read, https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa992039(VS.80).aspx and am not really sure how or which of these would apply or be easiest to implement and maintain. The simple solutions seems to defeat the purpose of what I'm trying to do which
is eliminate the code in each of the projects and just have it exist in a single common project.
While building the master page also seems like a good solution there are issues with needing to make changes to the web.config between test and productions that need to be addressed and this solutions seems to make that somewhat difficult if not impossible.
I would really appreciate any feed back that you might have.
If this is the incorrect forum please let me know and I can relocate.

  • Sharing business components across projects

i have created a project in jdeveloper that contains all my required entity and view objects. this project has been placed on a central machine. during the development phase, all the team members need to use the same project and make changes to the entity/ view objects. but the changes made by one are overwritten when the same project is saved by the other member. is there any way to get around this problem.
also, i created an entity and view object on one machine and copied the xml and java files to another machine. here i tried to include them in a new project but got errors and was unable to do so. what are the steps to be followed to include existing entity/view objects in a new project.

  • Moving Markers from Project to Clips in Event

    I have a student who put 100+ markers on a clip in a Project/Timeline.
Is there a way to link up or move the clip (with the markers) back into the event so the markers appear?

    Can you explain this better......
"Select and copy the clip in the Project."
    Done.
"Right-click in the browser and choose New Compound Clip."
Browser?    Do you mean Project or Event Library? (I assume Library if you used 7).
If I have an event selected & go make new compound clip it puts it in the event.
If I have the project selected, it changes the original clip into a compound clip.
"Paste the Project clip into the Compound."
    Huh?  See above.

  • Copy clip markers to new project?

I have a project file that was used by the director to make descriptive markers on clips. it references identical media and it was just a basic project file dupe for the director to use. i'd like to copy the markers in his project and add those to my markers on the clips in my master project. copy/paste just makes a subclip icon in my browser and defeats the purpose of it being a marker. is there an effective way to do this?
    thanks,
    ryan

Not that I know of Ryan, but could you simply copy his clips to your project file?

  • Sharing User Defined Variables across projects

    Hi,
I'm wondering if it's possible to share User Defined Variables across projects. What I have in mind is that I would like to have my User Defined Variables configured in a central location and then insert them into my projects as linked variables so that they update automatically when I change their values. For example, I define a variable named Product_Version that has its value set to 9. Then I insert this variable into all my projects as a linked variable. After 2 months the product version changes to 10, so I change the value of the variable to 10 in the location where it is stored and it is automatically updated in all the projects. Can this be done somehow? I'm new to RoboHelp and I can't find any answer. I've been searching for the solution for some time in the product help, on the Internet to no avail. I even contacted Adobe Support and they redirected me to this forum I used Help and Manual before and their way of dealing with user variables was pretty simple.

    Hi there
Unfortunately RoboHelp doesn't offer up a way to allow this, At least, not directly.
However, I do believe I found a way to make it happen, The variables are stored in a file named rhvariable.apj. So what you could do is to add this file as a Baggage File to each of your projects that will share the variables.
Now you would create a Shared Location as well as a new Category in your Resource Manager. This will create a common location to store the apj file.
Add the Baggage File to the location. Repeat the process for all projects that are sharing the variables.
Now, when the variable gets changed in any of the participating projects, the shared location should be updated and you can accomplish the goal.
However, note that even though you will have what you are wanting, it will still require opening each of the participating projects, synchronizing the APJ file and generating the output in order to update it all. No way I'm aware of to escape that.
    Cheers,,, Rick

  • Is there a way to place markers in a multicam clip, and then have those same markers carry over when you select part of the clip for a project (or various projects)?

Is there a way to place markers in a multicam clip, and then have those same markers carry over when you select part of the clip for a project (or various projects)?

Thanks. Beforehand, I was double clicking on the multicam clip and forced to make a marker on either the Cam A or B. I realize now that I can do it in the Event Browser. THANK YOU.
Considering I may create >20 markers per clips for around 10 different interviews, I wish there was a way to bring the Event Brower to the bottom half of the FCPX windows, to resemble the screen orientation when I'm working in an actual project (one could do this in iMovie), and this way the markers could be listed to the left without having all the other event clips around it. Is that clear? Is that possible?

  • Sharing resource across projects in OSB11g

    Hi,
We have some common resources like Service Account, Proxy Server, JNDI Provider, Custom Resources etc in our projects that should be shared across different projects. Among these resources like proxy server can be created only in Configuration projects and resources like service account can be created only in osb project.
I found that files created in configuration project can be used across the projects. Is there any way to share the resource across the configuration projects? i.e accesing Service account residing in confuguration project from another configuration project.
I tried with project references but did not get success. And i tried to do standards java mechanism creating jar of configuration project and adding this jar to another projects, seems to be this is not possible.
Please let me know the best way doing this? Is there anyway to share wsdls and xsds too?
    Thanks
    Siva

    Hi Manoj,
Yes, i am referring to configuration project of OEPE. I am creating all resources in OEPE and the deploying the same to OSB. I have created different configuration projects for different systems we have, that will have all related projects. Because of this the need has come for sharing the resources across configuration projects in OEPE itself. I am able to reuse the resources across the projects within single configuration project.
When i deployed i am seeing only the projects in OSB, so able to share the same in sbconsole.
What's the general practice while using OEPE? single configuration projectfor all the projects in them?
    Thanks
    Siva

  • Clip markers lost when using "Replace Footage"

I'm running into a problem with clip markers. I've got clips in my project that have been heavily marked. We need to transcode these clips to a better format because they are bogging down my edit. I've transcoded them to ProRes. When I try to replace the originals with the new prores versions I lose all of my clip markers.
Same problem if I take the media offline and then link it to the ProRes versions. Clip names and timecode have not changed, just the compression.
Is there any way to keep my markers and other metadata when I link to the new media?!

As great as that would be, this is not native camera media, it's heavily compressed h.264. We are on a relatively beefy mac pro, but still having issues.

  • Why are my clip markers not saved?

I'm using PE 9.  My clip markers are not getting saved.
    1)  Open a blank test project.
    2)  Select Organize \ Media.
    3)  Double-click one of the clips, and the preview window opens with the clip.
    4)  I move the Current-time Indicator to the point I want a clip marker.
    5)  Click (menu) Clip \ Set Clip Marker \ Next Available Numbered.
    6)  When I move the Current-time Indicator away from that location I can see the marker is visibly there.
    7)  I also set In and Out markers.
My understand (from what little documentation exists) is that that is enough to persist clip markers on that clip, for all future projects that include that clip.  However, as soon as I close that clip, all markers are lost forever.  I can reopen it (from organize \ media) and see no markers.  I can also add it to a timeline, and still there are no markers.  The only way I can get markers to save is to add the clip to a timeline, place markers in the timeline, and save the project.  This is not supposed to be necessary according to the docs.
As far as I can tell there is no "save" action needed to persist markers, and saving the project seems inappropriate, but I save it anyway out of desperate frustration.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Neale, thank you again.
Here's one of many references that distinguishes between source clip-marks and instance clip-marks specifically for PE9 (also referenced in many other versions of PE): http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremiereElements/9.0/Using/WSC22A9AEC-AB3F-4fbc-9F00-F0CBFC211 4CF.html
The image below is of my entire desktop with some scribble added.  You can see 3 source clip marks on the preview window (NOT the project timelene which has many more).  No matter what I do, those 3 clipmarks will be lost the moment I close the preview window.

  • Link Media loses clip markers CC (2014)?

Not sure if latest update has anything to do with this, but when I re-imported a clip to my Premiere CC (2014) project, I lost my clip markers.  (I had to move the media to a new drive.)  Link Media re-imports the clips just fine, but all the markers are gone.  This happens whether I link to the missing media at the startup screen, or whether I do it clip by clip, or whether I use Replace Footage.
I'm on a Mac (as you can see).  Anyone have any thoughts?

I am having the same problem; both Premiere and Audition are CC 2014 versions. The clip is output as a.wav file to an Adobe Audition Interchange folder, but isn't opening Audition. Doing it outside the dynamic link all works of course but not as it did with CS6. I am calling the video clips from an external drive; I am wondering if I need to have all the working files within the same folder on the same drive? I shouldn't have to, of course, but maybe this is a bug that has crept into this version.

  • Clip markers

if i add a marker to a clip (after selecting open in timeline) the marker doesn't appear in the browser item... why would this be?
    thx

I opened a clip in the timeline, set a marker, and it stuck.
Dragging that same clip into a project, the marker was there too.
Then I noticed I was actually setting markers in the *video* portion of the clip, not the clip itself.
It made me realize that in a way even a "normal" clip is a compound clip of sorts, in that it has video and audio in it.
So you can set a marker in the video "subclip", in the audio "subclip" or in the clip itself - but this last one can only be done, afaict, directly in the event browser (skim it and hit 'M'). Markers set "in the clip" do show up in the event browser, the others don't (and, come to think of it, it makes sense); but they do stick to where you put them, all the same.

  • Applying clip markers in CS6 stops playback

Pressing the 'M' key marks the timeline okay, but how do you mark individual clips on the fly?  In timeline, it does not mark clips at all. If I bring the clip into the source view, I can mark with the M key, but it stops playback. It also marks every instance of the clip in the same timeline.

Ok - I see how to add the Clip Marker functionality back.
Now is there any way to see those markers in After Effects CS6 via Dynamic LInk?
I do my audio in Premiere - and it would make things much faster if I could place markers in Premiere that I could then use in After Effects to decide where to trigger varied effects or place other media.
    Thanks
    Hi reindeer4,
Yes, clip markers are intact with Dynamic Link. Sequence markers are not supported, however. You must import a Premiere Pro project to After Effects for those.
    Thanks,

  • See the logged content for clip markers at sequence level?

I'm working on my first long form documentary, and I'm using a work flow a colleague recommended – although he typically works with Avid and an older version of Final Cut Pro, so there may be some areas where this work flow is broken.
I've vascialleted a bit, as I've recently began to use Prelude to do the logging instead of Premiere Pro. Obviously logging in PL is quite a bit easier as it's set up with some handy keyboard shortcuts for doing so. Basically I'm adding clip markers to interview stringouts that contain transcriptions of what the person is saying at that point of the interview.  Now that Premiere Pro CC allows me to navigate to the clip makers the same way I could navigate to the sequence markers (Command-Shift-M for previous and Shift-M for next), it's pretty handy and it makes sense to use clip markers since they'll always be there no matter what sequence you put the source footage into.
So, great. All makes sense right? Well...turns out I've run into a bit of a problem.
There is the handy Markers pallete (windows>Markers) which highlights the text I captured for a specific marker, making it easy to navigate or search for a certain question or answer in a given interview. Trouble is, that only shows content at the sequence marker level. While I can navigate to a clip maker within a timeline, the Markers pallette stays blank for that clip marker. Which, is kind of a show stopper in terms of navigating the logged clip once it's in a sequence or stringout. I can still see what's in that clip marker if I hover the mouse over it and wait for a tool tip to show up, but that's not exactly optimal.
I'm thinking about going back to logging in Premiere just to keep the sequence level markers easily searchable at the stringout level. Any feedback? I'd certainly prefer to do the logging in PL, but I'm dealing with a lot of footage here, and I need at least the stringouts to be easily searchable.
Mind you, my colleague isn't a Premiere Pro power user, so he may have recommended a workflow that isn't exactly optimal for the tool. Any insight would be welcomed, but if there were some way for the Markers pallete to show the content of the clip marker, I'd be off and running.

Well, I figure if I can get to both the sequence markers and clip markers with command shift M and the like, I may as well be able to see the content for said marker if content exists. My work flow here is probably a bit of an anomoly – but this is my first long form project, and it being a documentary, you can imagine that there are a lot of assets and stringouts to keep track of. Any shortcuts to getting to the logged content is a huge help throughout the entire process.
