Sharing collections in 'Bridge'

I have read through the thread regarding utilizing 'Bridge' to organize images. I recently attended a CS5 Roadshow where the speaker utilized a collection to manage a set of images from various server locations.
What I am trying to do is utlize a master image library, and then only link the images we need for a project to a collection that the rest of the design team can utilize without copying these images to the job folder for the project, therefore duplicating the images.
My Question? Is it possible to export or share a 'Bridge' collection  with other designers in the studio without shifting the images into a  single folder?

At first glance the answer would be "that is what the purpose of networks are--to share data".  But you might have to check the help files on Bridge to see how it reacts over the network, whether two people can access the same file at the same time, especially with video, and what would happen if one of those people updated the file--what would become of the file that the second person is using--would it automatically update?  In the event they were using Linked Images such as in Illustrator I guess that would work pretty well but the communication needs to be open between the file users to see who will update what.  I do not know if Bridge has a legend or key that displays when a file has been changed by one person on the network.  There are other Adobe network-shared programs that do have this feature although the name of the product escapes me--it's one of their document products.

  • Sharing collections in Bridge CS5?

Does anybody know if I can share a collection w/ someone else if we are on the same server of images, using Bridge CS5? It would seem to be a no-brainer, right?
    Thanks, y'all...

  • How To import collections from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC

How To import collection from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC??
    thx

How To import collection from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC??
A collection is a bunch of aliases to the original files in their original place. If you have upgraded to CC on the same machine you can use the same collection, on a different machine it will possible not find the correct location again.
On a Mac the path for the saved collections is : User / library/ application Support / Adobe/ BridgeCS6 / collections. Inhere are the saved collections showing the names you gave them. You can copy these collection files to the same location in Bridge CC.
If you have a different machine you best first choose the collection and add a keyword with the name of the collection to all the files in this particular collection so you can use the find command to easily recreate the collection on your new machine.
Maybe someone with more knowledge of Windows can show you the correct path but it should be something similar as on a Mac.

  • Sub-collection in Bridge CS5

Is there anyway to create a sub-collection in Bridge?  After searching it appears that you can do it in Lightroom, but I need Bridge
    thanks

Have never done a collection, much less a collection of a collection.  So when you try it in Bridge what happens?

  • Nested Collections In Bridge?

Is it possible to create nested collections in Bridge? I've looked in the help file, but can't find any mention. Don't know if I'm missing it or it just can't be done.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Collection is not folder it is just the file that is created in the bridge preferences to ease out the navigation for the user.
    Go to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS5\Collections
you will find the filelist files ther with the name of your collection, if you open those file in the wordpard you will see the path of the files included in the collection.
hence I dont think the nested collection could be created becuase we cannot refer the filelist file in another filelist file.

  • Contents of collection in Bridge CS 5.5 missing

Hello, i create a collection in Bridge (35 pictures) and after disconnected Bridge, when i go back to the collection, all the pictures are gone ! I can't see none of them. Is there a function record the collection before disconnection ?

You must have done a screen shot of the thumbnail as the enlarged version is same size.  But can still see difference.
I would revisit your thumbnail setting and make sure it is HQ Iif you want to see edits in thumbs, and  check the default ACR setting.  Don't assume they are the same as computer can do unexpected things.
Read the link I gave in post #1 as see if you have all the correct options selected.
When you click on thumb does the preveiw panel show the same dull image or a correct one?
It is possible the update fouled everything up, but seems like there would be more complaints.  I am still on ACR 6.4 however.  Am a slow adopter.

  • After reinstalling Photoshop PS6 I cannot any longer save smart collections in Bridge

Hi, after reinstalling Photoshop PS6 I cannot any longer save smart collections in Bridge. I create a smart collection by entering criteria, but when I click on SAVE, it is not saved. In my old installation (before I had to install a new hard disk), that never was a problem.
I am using Windows 7. Before, I used a hrad disk for the system, now I have a SSD, plus seveal hard disks for data storage.
Can anybody help me with advice what the problem is?
    That whould be great. Thanx,

  • LR Mobile shared collection questions

I know you can view shared collections in the mobile app and a web site,  but can you view the collection on a 2nd desktop running Lightroom also?
Can 2 desktops each have their own unique shared collections that all other devices can see?
    thanks

    Good morning Guido,
Well, I may have messed things up, or I may have stumbled across the source of my original issues of "0 Photos" and heavy pauses opening mobile collections.
I un-synced every collection in LrD. But Adobe online (lightroom.adobe.com) still shows all of the collections. I deleted LrM on my iPad and it's still syncing all the original collections.
How do I do a complete reset of LrM and all synced collections? I want to start from scratch - nothing sync'd, no collection on Adobe online. I'll remove LrM and start on the iPad from scratch. But only when Adobe online shows what I have flagged for sync in LrD. Then I'll start with a few small collections and see if the original problems persist.
I'm hesitant to delete the collections on the Adobe site but it seems that that might be the way to go.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Have a great day,
    Michael

  • Smart Collections in Bridge does not do

    Hello,
Photoshop CS6 products Windows 8.1 operating system I am using on my laptop. Questions about the methods I've found on the internet I decided to ask you thinking what I did.
In Bridge, you can create a collection but I could not create smart collections. When I click on the icon opens the window with several variations, but when you click on the save button does not do any thing. I'm asking for your help on the issue.

    John,
We did not see any validation errors when we deployed, so I'm assuming these values were passed correctly through EPMA.
Please let me know if I can check in any other way.
About the evaluation order, I do not see that in the Planning, or System properties of the Smart list or the Dimension members in the shared library.
Can you tell me where I can find this property?
Sorry this is my first time with EPMA and Planning :)
    Thanks for replying!

  • Accessing "Collections" in Bridge CS6

The latest version of Bridge in CS5 shows my collections with no problem. However with Bridge in CS6 collections cannot be accessed. Do I really have to set these up all over again?  Alan

  • Unable to Create Smart Collection in Bridge CC

I've recently ungraded to Bridge CC, and one of the first things I wanted to get set up again are my smart collections. When I click the "new smart collection" icon the dialog box appears, I specify the type of folder I want to create (exactly how I have done hundreds of times before in CS6) and then I hit "Save" and nothing happens? It shows an active blue "save" button, but when I hit save nothing happens? Anyone else experience anything like this?

I just found an article to which you had replied Jim.
Your comment leads me to believe that my assumption was correct ... if the NAS is connected (original images) then the histogram in the Develop Module should show "Original+Smart Previews".

  • Lost My Collections in Bridge

I recently installed Lightroom 3 and moved all my photos to an external hard drive.  Now Bridge shows my photos, but all the collections and keywords I assigned in Bridge have disappeared.  I want to refer to those collections and keywords to help set up Lightroom.   How can I recover them?   Thanks in advance for any help given!

Update -- I think I found what I did wrong.  Can I blame Lightroom "overload" for my lapse of memory?  Been working on it all day today.

  • Sharing Keywords in Bridge

My husband and I have macs,
and we both are using the Bridge 5.0
we share a photo drive over our wireless router network
I was wondering how the keywords that he assigned to the photos on our newtork can be view on my end .  When I do a keyword search none of the items come up
    helP!

Bridge is not designed for use over a network, there are many threads about network usage in this forum, try also a search for 'The digital Archivist'. It seems sometimes seems possible but needs a lot of discipline.
In basic when you add a keyword to a file it saves in the XMP data in the file itself. Bridge has its own cache file in the user library and also in this user library there is a folder called 'application support' containing user specific settings like the keyword list that you have used on your Mac. When your husband adds a keyword to the list it is not automatically appearing in your list. If a file contains a keyword that is in the file but not in your list it appears as 'italic', with right click mouse menu on this word you can choose to make it persistent and then it is in your list and looks normal.
Although I have no experience with network shared disks I think it might be possible for you to find the keywords but as said not sure. You need to index the disk first for each Mac. This mostly is done automatically but it can be activated also with the Find command (Edit Find or cmd+F) Inhere choose source (your network disk) criteria Keyword: contains / -the text you want to find-. Be sure to have both checkmarks for subfolders and non indexed files activated and do a search. This might take a while.
If one of you has added a lot of new keywords to the list it might also be wise to use the export key word list function (keyword tab menu top right in the panel). The other one should use the import function for that new list and you both end up with the same list.
As said, it needs discipline because Bridge is original meant for stand alone usage.
Another option is to use a dedicated DAM (Digital Asset Management) application but also not sure about network usage for the common apps. You might find more info at the site of Peter Krogh:
