Sharing default develop settings in LR2

I have set up a bunch of default develop settings per camera model and ISO on my laptop. I would like to share these settings with my desktop. Where do I find the settings files?
Thanks
Nick

If Auto Sync is enabled and more than one image selected, any editing done to one of the photos will be done simultaneously to all the selected photos. If only a single photo is selected, it will be the only one affected. Thus, moving to a new photo that was not selected together with the previous one it will open with the default settings. Auto Sync can be enabled when multiple photos are selected either from the Settings menu or by raising the toggle switch on the Sync button at the bottom of the right-side Develop panel.
"Recently, LR sometimes opens with the settings I used in the last session, even though I have closed LR in the interim."
This is as it should be. LR should always return to the editing done in an earlier session because every edit is immediately recorded and saved in the catalog database and the old edits are reapplied to the image preview every time it is opened

  • How do I control the default Develop settings in LR5?

    I've used LR for many years but have never figured out the following:  When I work on a batch of photos in Develop, most of the time the Develop settings are on their normal defaults (e.g., 0 for most sliders; blank for lens, etc.)  As I process each photo and move to the next, the settings jump back to default.  Sometimes, however, this second step doesn't occur; when I open the second photo the Develop settings remain where I left them in processing the first photo.  Recently, LR sometimes opens with the settings I used in the last session, even though I have closed LR in the interim.
    I know how to use Copy and Paste but they don't seem to be involved.  I don't know how to use Sync; I've watched a couple of tutorials but they assume a knowledge of Sync which I don't have.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Default Develop Settings

    I have none ticked in Lightroom.
    But when images come in, I have 50+ on the brightness.
    Why, is this?

    You can set the defaults to whatever you want - all zeros even (but it'll look pretty bad).
    Just set the values to whatever, then Alt-click the Reset button in Develop Mode (it'll change to 'Set Default' when you hold down the Alt key). I guess Option key if Mac.
    I had 'em all zero for a while so I could see things in what I thought was the most unadulterated form - but the novelty quickly wore off...
    Note: There is no such thing as "No Profile", but you might try Camera Neutral if you are really trying to get the most "base" settings by default.
    PS - I dont think of the non-zero defaults as "changes". - I think you may be after some kind of "exactly what the camera sees" settings but its a thinking error: the camera records a bunch of funny numbers based on its little grid of sensors - its the software's job to translate that into a fair amount of r, g, and b at each pixel for human consumption, and the non-zero defaults are a part of that... I think Adobe may have done newcomers to Lr a service by presenting them as zero in the UI, so people dont fret, but I've made my peace with it...

  • Unable to set default develop setting to specific camera

    Hi Guys,
    I like to change the default develop settings for my camera. It's done in the Develop module in Camera Calibation. While holding the Option key the tight button changes to Set Default...
    After pressing the button nothing happens on one of my Mac's on the other it does work. Both settings in the Preference menu called "Make default specific to camera serial number" is cheked on both machines.
    Any idea why it is not working on one machine?
    Both are OSX 10.9 and Lightroom 5.4
    Thanks!

    Thanks guys for showing interest in helping.
    As you guys can see, there's no adobe reader when u expand. Also, I already browsed the reader just in case too. Thus expanding doesnt help. =(
    Also, I cant seem to find the "file type" tab in folder options

  • Copy lightroom 4.4 "default camera settings" from one computer to another?

    Is it possible to copy my lightroom 4.4 "default camera settings" from one computer to another?

    Quote "Are you saying that the settings are stored in the catalog."
    I believe it is stored in the Preferences file. You can use presets to do the same thing as adjusting the "default develop settings", they are applied differently.
    One is set in the Lightroom "Preferences" and one is applied by selecting a particular preset at import. I have not tried but since you can delete the preference file and Lightroom will rebuild one I am pretty sure you should be able to copy one from one computer to another.
    Also you need to be aware that Lightroom applies noise reduction by default to your specific camera model and to the ISO setting. It does not display the actual settings.

  • What are default watermark settings (font etc) from LR2?

    Would anybody know the default settings (font etc) that were used in LR2 for the copyright watermark?  I recently upgraded from LR2.4 to LR3.3 and can't settle on an attractive copyright watermark at the moment.  I was quite happy with the 'old' default watermark settings and would like to use it again in LR3...
    Thanks in advance.

    Slaps Head!!
    I thought the simple watermark just printed Copyright 2011 but I thought I'd double-check before answering your reply.  And it turned out I had set up my copyright info incorrectly on my import options.
    So all I have to do is change my import options and I get what I want with the simple copyright watermark.
    Thanks for setting me straight!

    Note: I use Rob Cole's 'Collection Preseter'  and a load of smart collections to apply these settings...  I have a  load more dev presets, including adjustments for extra sharpening when  certain focal lengths or apertures are used, etc.

  • LR2 - Auto Import develop settings won't stick.

    As the subject says, in LR2 changes made to the develop settings preference in the auto import settings dialogue do not stick. I can select a different develop preset, but after closing the settings dialogue, new images import with the original preset. If I open the settings window again, the develop settings preference has been reset to their original state.
    I've tried two computers and have the same result on both. Trashing prefs does nothing, but creating a new catalog seems to reset the auto import prefs dialogue, but whatever develop settings I select becomes fixed and unchangeable.
    I use LR's auto import feature to work tethered with my MF digital setup on every project - it is crucial to my current workflow. This bug is small, but significant and will probably have me going back to V1 until I can find a fix so any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    (oh yeah, both systems are intel macs -- an iMac and a macbook pro -- and are up to date running osX 10.5.4)

    Yes, I get the same thing with the sliders being greyed out. Funny thing is that the sliders *are* set exactly as in my preset and when I click 'yes update' to 2010 standards, the settings don't change but only the sliders become accessible. The thing is that I really don't want to be doing that with every import, even if you can do the whole batch at once. What I don't understand is that when I import with the preset turned off and apply it in Lightroom's Develop Module, it accepts it without a problem but that when I use the same preset on import, it won't work properly.
    Now what the poster in the other thread said was:
    "When I saved a new preset and selected to also save the process version,  a line in the preset was created:  ProcessVersion = "5.7".  When I cut  and paste that into all my other presets then the sliders were all  active when I used them."
    I have no idea what he is talking about or how one would do that. When I create a preset I simply click the + sign and in the pop up window select what I want, give it a name and that's it.
    Edit: Sorry, I apparently overlooked the Process Version box in the preset panel! Must have been a case of not seeing the forest for the trees. Problem solved. Thanks.

  • Import development settings from another computer

    Hey,
    At home I still have the trial version (I wait for 4.2 to see if it will be much faster before buying it) and today I do some photo development at work (we also have 4.1 version).
    What I'd like to know is it it's possible to import the processings settings of each photos to my own catalog ????
    Here is how I did my work:
    At home my raws are on an external USB drive and I import my pictures from this disk: path is I:\Mes photos\<subject + date of the photoshoot>
    My Lightroom catalog is in it's default path (user profile, my pictures).
    At work, I put my photos on a temp director c:\MyRawPictures and import them into lightroom.
    Now how can I export the development settings from the lightroom at work and import them in my home setup ?
    I saw a menu "import from another catalog". can I use this one ? If yes, do I need to copy the "Lightroom catalog" folder ?
    Thanks.

    From the computer which has the images developed you invoke the command "export as catalog". You can optionally include both the previews and the images themselves ( called 'negatves'). Write this to a destination from where the other receiving comp can get it, e.g. a portable external drive or shared network.
    From the receiving comp you invoke "import from another catalog" and you choose this exported folder.
    You can limit this to small parts of your catalog, so no need to export and import a total catalog.

  • Cannot copy or clear develop settings in Adobe Bridge

    okay, here's my problem. all of the sudden i am no longer able to clear or copy develop settings when i right click on raw files in adobe bridge. the problem seemingly began out of nowhere. when i attempt to use these functions i get the following error message: "Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." i have googled this to no end and it seems there is no solution that actually works. just to be clear, all of the results for this search ive found seem to be users getting the same error message and the inability to OPEN raw files from bridge; this is NOT my issue. i can still open raw files from bridge with no problems whatsoever but i just cant clear my develop settings. ive googled "cannot clear develop settings" and have found nothing specific to my situation. ive tried resetting bridge and camera raw to their default settings and that hasnt worked. ive moved my cache to a different drive and that hasnt worked. i opened bridge from photoshop and that also hasnt worked. id like to think there is a solution that doesnt require me to uninstall and re-install the entire application. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    any help would be greatly appreciated.
    For that more info is needed like system, specs, versions etc. Check this for a start:

  • How to configure default parental settings for all users (10.7)?

    Hello,
    I've made a silent installation of iTunes using MSI files and it works well.
    I need to enable parental controls and configure it. Users must be preventing of changing these settings.
    At the end of the iTunes installation I automatically created registry keys :
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes\Parental Controls]
    "AdminFlags"=dword:001b7ac5
    "AdminMoviesLimit"=dword:000000c8
    "AdminTVShowsLimit"=dword:000001f4
    "AdminRatingSystemID"=dword:0000000b
    "AdminGamesLimit"=dword:0000012c
    According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2102 it is the procedure to set default parental settings for all users and to lock these settings.
    When iTunes is first launched, parental settings are not set nor locked.
    I use iTunes 64 bits on Windows 7 64 bits.
    Where is the mistake?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Refresh List of Presets in Develop Settings?

    Is it possible to force a refresh of list of the presets in the develop settings menu?  I want to get around this issue:
    1)  Right click an image and select develop settings - a list of the presets in the CameraRaw/Settings folder is shown in the submenu.
    2)  With bidge remaining in the foreground open, change the contents of the presets in the CameraRaw/Settings folder (I'm doing this with a jsx script in my case).
    3)  Right click an image and go to develop settings again - the list shown is the same as the list in step 1.
    4)  Give any other application focus and then come straight back into bridge.
    5)  Right click an image, select develop settings again - this time the preset list reflects what's in the CameraRaw/Settings folder.
    So is it possible to force bridge to refresh that list somehow within my jsx script?

    Sorry no you can't alter a menu once it's been created.
    You can access any of the items in the develop settings with...
    //Develop Settings > Camera Raw Defaults
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRDefault");
    //Develop Settings > Previous Conversion
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRPrevious");
    //Develop Settings > Copy Settings
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRCopy");
    //Develop Settings > Paste Settings
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRPaste");
    //Develop Settings > Clear Settings
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("CRClear");
    You can't give focus to another application but you can send commands to another Adobe suite application using BridgeTalk
    You can de-select all thumnails and select the ones you want to work on, a few commands below might be of use....
    //change Bridge to folder
    app.document.thumbnail = Folder(Folder.desktop + "/myfolder");
    //de-select all thumbnails
    app.document.deselectAll();
    //select thumbnail
    var thumb = new Thumbnail(thumb);
    app.document.select(thumb);

  • LR4 and develop settings in DNG files

    I spent a day developing a set of DNG images in LR4 and then used Bridge to rename all the files. When I sync'ed the folder in LR the develop settings in the DNG files were not there, all zero'ed out. I thought the develop settings were stored inside a DNG file by default? Do I need to tell LR to do that? I don't see where that setting might be.

    In Lr, I think the default is to store develop settings in catalog only.
    To store in DNG files, hit Ctrl/Cmd-S, or enable auto-save xmp in prefs.
    Edit Menu -> Preferences -> General Tab -> Catalog Settings -> 'Automatically write changes into XMP'.
    I prefer the manual method for a variety of reasons, but others prefer the automatic method (mostly so they don't forget I guess).
    Cheers,

  • Develop settings problem

    After I imported a photo on lightroom I go in develop and the problem is that i see the settings are NOT the same as shot in raw. Indeed the contrast the brightness and also the temperature and the color's tone are always the same. Also if i choose the develop settings on NONE. Now, does anybody knows how i can have the original settings as I shot, on the images that I'm going to work with?
    Ludovico Perfetto.

    You would have to choose "zeroed" which is at or near the bottom of the preset list.
    Personally I have developed my own import preset as the raw files are pretty bland an lifeless as they are just data from the sensors. They are not like the jpeg image on a camera LCD at all.
    None is not a zero setting but Adobes default setting which you can see in the develop module settings that are present after import.
    Hope that assists.
    Enjoy LR!!

  • Matching Lightroom Develop Settings to In-Camera Picture Styles

    For certain shoots it would suit me to have my pictures import and look like the embedded jpegs which are created using Canon's standard picture styes. Is there an easy way to create LR develop settings to match the popular Canon styles such as Standard, Portrait and Landscape so that I get approx the same amount of sharpness, contrast, colour balance. Perhaps someone has already done that and they've shared the Lightroom Presets.

    Rob Cole wrote:
    Are you 100% sure the luminance noise reduction algorithm is tailored to each specific camera model, in Lightroom (and ACR)  I mean?
    What I stated  is based on "visual" observations of raw files from three different Canon DSLR cameras inside LR and DPP. I am sure it varies from camera manufacturer and even camera model, with some models applying NR during demosaicing and others not. The Fuji X-Tran is a good example where Adobe initially had issues with the demosacing process, which affected image sharpness and noise levels. My guess is that this is done in two-steps:
    1) Initial demosaicing on Import into the Develop module where the 4-pixel cell  RG1BG2 raw data is converted into a "uniform" single pixel bit map with RGB values. This is the best possible place to analyze the image data for Color NR and demosaic interpolation to maximize sharpness and minimize "aliasing." How "well" this is done has a huge impact on the overall sharpness of the image. Hot pixel removal is done during demosaic processing for all camera models. Hot pixels can't be removed from JPEG and sRAW image files since they are already demosaic'd.
    2) Additional Color and Luminance NR and Capture Sharpening is performed inside the Develop module using the camera raw cache data. The Luminance NR "tailoring" I refer to is probably based on "reverse engineering" of the manufacturer's raw converter algorithms. The higher the ISO the larger the NR amount applied at any given setting. In order to provide somewhat "uniform" values it would have to be based on the ISO versus Noise performance of the specific camera model.  For example a 12Mp 1.6 crop sensor camera is not going to perform near as well as a 12 Mp full-frame camera of the same generation.
    Attached below is my best effort in LR and DPP using a Canon 5D MKII 21Mp raw image shot with a 24mm TS-E II lens–The sharpest lens I've ever owned. It's pretty clear (pun) DPP pulls out more detail, but falls down in the tonal definition (i.e. shadow detail). The only thing this can be due to are differences in Canon's DPP demosaicing and LRs.
