Sharing del.icio.us tags

I am sure everyone know about http://del.icio.us - the site that started the "social bookmarking" concept. I had registered for it a long time back but didnt really start to use it. The concept was great but the website was light on features and browser integration.
I visited it recently and it is much better, they have RSS feeds, browser buttons, Firefox extensions, the whole works.
What does everyone think about sharing their usernames on this forum and any interesting tags they assign to items? This way, we can all share our travels through the Internet and maybe even subscribe to each others' RSS feeds.
Who knows, with the proper care and feeding, this can even grow into the FAQ/wiki thing that we were talking about on that other thread.
Just assign tags in abundance, put in some notes when you post to delicious, maybe even add some tinypic.com screenshots and voila! - a community-maintained dynamic resource to search for HTML DB questions complete with forum links and examples.

IOS 8: del.icio.us service in the Action Extensions pane?

I am an old time user of the del.icio.us online bookmark service (remember them!) and have been starved of it's services since switching to Safari. There are offerings but on iOS not so.
Only just recently did it dawn on me that one could be made compatible with Safari now iOS 8 allows for extensions in the "Action Extension" menu and was wondering (not being a developer myself) if del.icio.us could be made to work here?
The thing is all of the existing options appear to be a single click affair, while adding a webpage to the del.icio.us service requires input in the way of Tags from the user (either written or selected) and am unsure if it could be possible?

Can't login to del.icio.us with new Tiger installation

Apologies if this isn't the right forum -- please point me in the appropriate direction.
I recently finally installed Tiger (I think it's 4.11--it's the most recent version that will run on my single-brain iMac)-- and now I can't access my del.icio.us account via any of my browsers (Firefox, Safari, IE 5.1 or Netscape). The site apparently doesn't recognize my user ID and password. I changed no browser settings. I can access the site and account fine with IE on my PC so the account is there. The Yahoo/del.icio.us customer service folks suggested making sure cookies were acceptable (the default with firefox, no problems I can see) and that I might have a login script security setting that needed to be changed. Since it's inaccessible via all browsers, I assume this means something at the OS X level but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
Have others experienced this? Suggestions are appreciated.

Have you repaired Permission & rebooted since the update?
If many are Repaired, you may need to reapply the update.

Del.icio.us Contextual Menu for Safari

I am new to Apple and don't know anything about AppleScripts and stuff like that.
What I want to do is be able to view an RSS feed, right click on the hyperlink to a particular item in the feed and select "Add to Del.icio.us" which would then open the "your bookmarks" page in Del.icio.us where I can then add the item to My Del.icio.us. The goal here is to save me the trouble of opening posts when I can already tell from the headline/abstract in my RSS feed that I want to save the item to Del.icio.us.
I also don't want to jump through hoops to do this because I am not saavy about these things.
Any ideas?

Unable to access del.icio.us

As of this morning, I am unable to get the del.icio.us pages to load. The only suspicion I have is that I cleared the Java caches (and Safari history, cache & icons - to try to speed things up a bit) earlier.
When I try to access the del.icio.us site I get the following message, which means nothing to me:

No problem accessing that site here with Firefox or IE 11.
You might try getting a different WAN IP address for your router, just in case sateliteguys is blocking your specific IP.
You can drill through router settings to release the WAN IP and hope it will get a next one in a few minutes, but the surest way is to power down the router overnight and the power it back up in the morning.
I suggest you try that and see if it fixes the problem.

Check out their site for a FAQ on how to embed this service
into your
own site. Technically it's just a linked image, you just have
to find
out what you have to put into the link.

For me it's not. I don't use them, none of them. While the
idea is not
that bad in general (but not that convincing either), IMHO
it's really
stupid to have two dozen of these services. Do you really
want to have
that many little ugly icons on your pages? I clearly don't.
People who use these services could also add bookmarklets to
their
browser or even use a browser like Flock for example, which
has built-in
support for such "social services". This would allow them to
bookmark
_any_ site and not only these with two dozen little ugly
items on them.

Safari can't open del.icio.us, for some reason. Help!

This is probably something quite obvious, but I'm all out of ideas, so hopefully you can help! I also hope it hasn't been asked before, though I've searched previous topics...
For some reason, Safari displays the 'Failed to open' page whenever I visit http://del.icio.us. "The server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy," it says. "You might be able to open the page later."
I've tried later, I've cleared my cache, I've tried it on another browser and even on a Windows machine. Might there be something with my network, perhaps my IP address or - and I'm getting into areas I don't know much about - something about my DNS settings that are preventing me from seeing this particularly website?
I really hope someone can help - all my bookmarks are stored at del.icio.us!

Hello my friend!!!
Well i don't know yet. I read in some other posts that safari has problems in some specific web links. Till now safari is running tranquil and "cozy" i can say but let's hope that it was a myspace problem, cause i own a music booking agency company and the internet is my most important tool for my work and promotion.
If the safari is making that problems then i suggest to Apple that they should try the application's reliability first before giving them for public usage.
Hope that the updates in the future will fix some "small" problems of the OS X Snow Leopard.

Shared libraries and Private tags

My son and I share the same iTunes library on an external drive. Each of us has his own library (.itl) and xml files located in our home folder/music/itunes pointing to the external drive for the physical files.
Most of our tags are common (artist name, song name...) but some others ned to remain "private" like the genre tag. If he tags a song "Rock", I may tag it "Alternative" for ex. The problem is that every time that any of us changes the genre tag, it's reflected in the other library as well.
I'm afraid this is the case because of ID3 tags. Is there a way to keep the tags "private"?

No, but you can make a second copy of the song file, and have each library only see its own.

Like someone else, I keep getting a pop-up message that says "api.del.icio.us:443 USPS uses an invalid security certificate"; However the pop up is so persistent I cannot use Firefox at all, I am posting this from Safari.

I have tried clicking on "cancel" or "details" and nothing will dismiss the message.

The message goes on to say the certificate expired on 5/22/11 at 3:11 pm Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate.
I get this pop-up message about every 5 minutes.

Del.icio.us playtagger keeps disappearing

Hello!
The forum was very helpful when I asked how to add a "play" button to my webpages so that mp3 files would play right on the page. It worked for a while, but I've noticed (while uploading revised pages) that the script has disappeared from all my html files. I had used Text Wrangler to add the script. I used it again to put the script back in, but it's still not working. If I click on the mp3 it will play, but will open a separate page first. That's rather clunky when the little blue arrow was so nice. Any suggestions?

You are correct. After you update your pages, iWeb will overwrite the playtagger code and you will have to reenter it into your pages.
A lot of time after you make updates, the changes may not appear in your browser because of caching issues. Try emptying your browser cache. With Safari, if you look under the Safari menu, select "Empty cache..." Then reload your page and see if you see the playtagger stuff reappear.
Otherwise, you can check your html files manually and make sure that your program is making the correct additions.

Request for feature - tagging favorite threads

Some threads provide incredibly valuable information.
RFF: It would be loverly to tag these threads on a personal 'favourites' list. Preferably with a private 40-80 varchar note.
I use several browsers on several different machines in a typical week, so including them in the browser favourites is not a viable option for me. I've been attempting to use the thread watch capability, but that seems to lose track of threads at the best of times.
Anyone else have suggestions or common solutionsns?

How do I import Delicious bookmarks into Firefox Bookmarks Organizer so the tags port over? I tried importing but the tags are not coming over.

There are two official Delicious extensions at the moment. "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/delicious-bookmarks/ Delicious Bookmarks]" which not compatible with Firefox 4.0.x, and "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/delicious-extension/ Delicious Extension]" which is marked as compatible but doesn't actually work.

Slurp didn't work for me. I got all the prompts like I was supposed to, but clicking the '''Export''' button on the delicious page changed its text to '''Please Wait...''' and it just got stuck like that with no way to continue.
Apart from that, I was rather uneasy about installing an unreviewed extension from an author I've never heard of.

You have that backwards. It's Firefox that does not either import or export tags from or to bookmarks.html. The only way to preserve tags when exporting is to create a json backup; these types of files wipe out all existing bookmarks when imported.

Tag-cloud generation

Is there as way to generate or view a tag-cloud in Aperture? What I mean is simply list all of the tags I have and any I click will bring up the resulting images tagged with the tag. Oh sorry, I mean Keywords.

If you click on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of your Viewer, you will get a "filter" HUD. This allows you to narrow down the pictures displayed in the Viewer. This filter applies to whatever you had selected over in the pane to the left. If you had a folder selected, it applies to that folder. If you had your highest level project selected, it applies to that project.
By checking the "keywords", you will see a list of all keywords in all pictures of your selection. (This is sort of annoying, though, as you cannot create a filter on keywords that you haven't yet assigned to at least one picture.) Then you can check one or more keywords to filter on those keywords. Aperture remembers that filter every time you revisit that item, until you hit the "X" to the right of the magnifying glass.
