Sharing dynamic custom stamp to other users

In Acrobat pro 9 and earlier, I could share my stamps folder to other users and the dynamic custom stamps would travel and work just fine to new users. But not in ProX.  Steps have been repeated from 9, The legacy folder was tried as a replacement, fresh dynamic stamps were built in Pro X. Nothing travels over. Help and guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance -doug.

Are you saving the stamp file in each user's stamp folder?

I share a PC with my girlfriend, and all of our downloads on iTunes are from our CD collection. But as I installed iTunes on my user account, she can't get the songs now!
When she opens iunes from her user account, it's a blank library!

Move the entire _iTunes folder_ located in *My Documents/My Music*/ to a Shared directory. Make sure to set this folder for read/write permissions for all users.
I set my permissions as follows OS 10.4.X:
first under the original owners login, change all permissions to read & write, then change 'group' to wheel. Then change the owner from the user to system (I applied to all within ~ may not be necessary).
Start iTunes holding the Shift key and select *Choose existing library* then pick the iTunes library file you moved into the Shared directory.
In iTunes 7.5, you'll need to hold the Option key and then pick the /Users/Shared/iTunes/iTunes Music
Quit iTunes and log out of your user and let her log in.
Start iTunes holding the Shift key and select *Choose existing library* then pick the iTunes library file you moved into the Shared directory.
Now she needs to File -> *Add folder to library* and pick *My Documents*/My Music*/*iTunes*/iTunes music*.
This will add all her music to the common library.
Once this is complete, she can delete *My Documents*/My Music*/*iTunes.
Do this for all users. Any changes made by one will be seen by all.

  • Shared folder read-only for other users

We setup a new iMac with three accounts for members of the family. Two have admin rights. We installed Quicken Essentials 2010 for Mac, and put the Quicken data file in the Users/Shared/Quicken folder. Everything worked great for user #1 who copied the file to the shared Quicken folder.
User #2 (also an admin) was not able to open Quicken, as an error stating the file was read-only. I checked permissions, and set user1 and user2 with read/write and everyone with read/write. Basically, all permissions on that data file are read/write for everyone.
That still did not work. Then, I set user2 as the owner. Now, user2 can use Quicken and the file, but user1 cannot. Same error.
How do we get it so that files in the Shared folder are really shared and accessible to everyone?

The solution that I discovered to work: Place your quicken data file(s) on an external drive (or create a partition if you only have access to a single hard drive) and have permissions on that drive (o volume) set to "ignore ownership on this volume" It works for me. Both accounts can now access my single quicken data file. To set the permissions on a drive/volume, select the drive or volume, choose "get info" from the file menu and at the bottom of the get info window mark the box "Ignore ownership on this volume".

  • Shared Tasks not visible to other User

    Hello,
I am facing a problem that I have shared Tasks of User-A to User-B. But when I open shared Task at User-B MS Outlook it opens but no tasks of User-A are visbile.
    For Testing
I Shared User-A shared tasks for myself with same permissions & are visible to me.
I Shared my Tasks for User-B & are visible to User-B.
I Shared User-B Tasks & are also visible to me.
I Created new Outlook profile for User-B, Upgraded Office Version from 2007-2010, Created new Windows login Profile, login him on some other PC but still User-B is unable to View User-A shared tasks.
I login User-B on OWA (Webmail) still User-B is unable to View User-A shared Tasks.
I have checked for User Mailbox permissions but found nothing.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

    Hi,
If User-A shared a calendar folder to User-B, could User-B open the shared calendar in his Outlook? or are those calendar items visiable in that time?
If yes, please separately get the
    Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity
    [email protected]:\Calendar
    & Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity
    [email protected]:\Task
And then compare their permission to find the difference entry.
Or you may directly check the User-B's permission under User-A's folder:
    Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity
    [email protected]:\Task -User [email protected]
This might not the problem on User Mailbox permissions level but Mailbox folder permissions level. Thanks.

  • HOW TO migrate user customized settings to other users or companies

Hi, I created some custom user fields to be added to documents and I set them visibile or not and in different order of appearence for each document type. I need to migrate these settings to another company, and I don't want to recreate everything by hand, since it is very long and possible cause of mistakes. Is there a way to do this directly on the database? Which are the db tables that contain this kind of information? Thank you in advance

    Hi Fulvia,
You could use the DI API Metadata Objects and create an application to create the UDF's and their values in the new company DB. This is the SAP prescribed way.
Writing a SQL script to do update the (system) tables is is possible but NOT supported by SAP.

  • How do I share certain albums in my iphoto library with other users....

without using the fast user switching/sharing preference in iphoto?
I have about 12,000 photos in my library of which about 6000 are for work. I would like to share all of my non work photos with the other users on my imac. I would rather not use the fast user switching and keep the iphoto application open for all the users. I would like to either import only selected albums to the user account or add them to the shared folder for their access. How can I export/import only the albums I wish to share without having to do it manually for each? Should I make a copy of the library, add it to the other users accounts and then delete the photos? Or can I put the library in the shared folder and limit access to certain albums? I don't think it would make too much sense to have a duplicate library since I only have about 10GB left on my HD.

With iPhoto 6 you can place the source files, i.e. exported the full sized files for those albums you want to share, in appropriately names folders in the Shared folder. Then have each user create an new library with iPhoto's alias mode, i.e. create alias files of the source files instead of copying the a full sized version into the library. This way each of the other users can have a working library and you only have to have one copy of each file on the HD. Saves a lot of space. Any edits that one user performs will not be seen by the other users. If a user delete a photo from their library only the alias files is deleted. The source files are untouched.
The downside to this method is if you add a file(s) to the Shared folder each of the other users will have to import that file into their own library. An easy way around that is to always put new photos in new folders and let the others know there are new ones to import. You could also divide your library up into to two, keeping your work library a conventional one and removing the "shared" source photos and have a similar alias based library for the personal photos that are in the Shared folder. Then use iPhoto Library Manager or iPhoto Buddy to quickly switch between the two. I have 7 libraries that I use iPLM to switch between. It's very convenient and fast. If you want to convert over entirely to an alias system, both work and personal, here's a way to retain the keywords you've assigned to them. See tutorial #2 here.

  • Users custom stamps dissapear in Acrobat 7.0 Professional

    Hello,
For some reason our users custom stamps are dissapearing in Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional when they close Acrobat, reopen it, and attemp to use the stamp(s) they had previously created. I am not sure if we can upgrade Acrobat because the users documents have to comply with some patch standard at http://www.uspto.gov/. Where would I need to look in order to find out what version/patches http://www.uspto.gov/ supports so I can troubleshoot the problem more effectively?
    Thank you.

Yes, but i was hoping to be able to convert multiple files through acrobat rather than plot one at a time through autocad. thanks.

Our company has users on both Acrobat X and XI.  We have custom stamps in X that the XI users need to use. How do we transfer the stamps to use in the newer version?

You just copy the stamp files from one machine and place them in the correct directory on the other. You can find the location of both the user and app stamp directories by running the following code in the interactive JavaScript console:
    app.getPath("user", "stamps");
    app.getPath("app", "stamps");
Select both lines and press Ctrl+Enter (Windows) or cmd+enter (Mac). Here's what I get with this using Acrobat 11 on a Mac:
    user folder: /Macintosh HD/Users/georgejohnson/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/11.0/Stamps/
    app folder: /Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/Built-in/Comments.acroplugin/Stamps/
The stamp files (PDFs) might have cryptic looking names, but you can safely open each to see what stamps they contain.

  • Does home sharing allow me to share my iTunes library with other users on the same imac

Does home sharing allow me to share my iTunes library with other users on the same imac?

Apparently so (as long as each user operates out of a different Mac User account).
After setting up home sharing in the various different user accounts on the Mac, you need to have iTunes open in the account that you want to Home Share from.
Now use fast User Switching to get into the account that you want to Home Share to. Launch iTunes in there. The library in the other account should appear as shared for you.

  • Sharing iTunes library with other users (on Vista)

I'm posting this for my sister who just purchased a new computer running Vista. She's set up a user account for herself as well as one for each of my two nephews. We've successfully moved over her iTunes music folder from her laptop and can now access it and listen through her account.
However, we'd like to set it up so that my two nephews can also listen to the music from their user accounts. My oldest nephew also has a shuffle that would sync to it.
I've found a link to information about sharing, but I still need to clarify a few things.
    Here's the link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195
On this page, it describes how "to share your music with other accounts on the computer" and also how "to listen to another account's music files".
Exactly how are these two things different? I'm pretty sure that I probably want the first of the two, but I'm not positive.
And once we successfully set this up, would we have to sync the shuffle via my sister's main account or could it be synced from any of them?

Let's answer your second question first ...
And once we successfully set this up, would we have to sync the shuffle via my sister's main account or could it be synced from any of them?
    Any of them.
... and your first question second.
Exactly how are these two things different?
The first part - sharing your music with other accounts - makes the music available to the other users on the computer.
It is then up to the other users to decide whether or not they want to make use of the available music, hence the second part - listening to another account's music files - which, as the article says, must be repeated "for each account that is listening to shared music."

  • How do I stop sharing mail with other users on my computer

How do I stop sharing mail with other users on my Macbook pro?

You may have to set up different user accounts in the computer if you wish to
continue sharing the computer among other people, and only use the Mail app.
Otherwise, if you use a webmail such as yahoo, gmail, or other, just use a browser
and login each time; then there is no saving of your email to the computer as such.
I've never used an email client software, nor had an ISP based email account. So
my numerous computers have never downloaded email into software. No loss.
But the answers do include setting up extra user accounts, not admin level, so the
other users do not mess with the operating system; a standard account or just a
guest account to use a browser to access web-based login email accounts, works.
There are third-party email client for OS X, some are free applications, others are
part of a larger browser product, such as SeaMonkey, & other Mozilla derivatives.
They provide an email segment or client aspect; unlike Firefox that's a browser.
Setup information should be within the Help viewer in the computer itself. Or by a
simple search online, including the OS X version and any email client software
your computer may have installed. Some browser software includes email client.
Also there are several ways to go in this matter. I don't see questions, only answers.
To learn how the Mail application works, if you want to import everyone's mail, then
figure how to set up user accounts in the OS X. Or use web-mail & login by browser.
Hopefully you can find the best solution for the unasked question.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Sharing Address Book w/ Other Users

My girlfriend and I share a mac. We have separate user accounts, separate MobileMe accounts, and we each have an iPhone. However, we would like to use the same address book. For a while I was using some third party software and it worked fine but it would run every time we logged in and bounce around annoyingly in the dock. It also required us to sync the two desktop address books and then dock our phones. This can't be that difficult, right?
I know how we can share contacts through MobileMe, but that's not really what we want. (We want to share a single address book.) Besides, I can't figure out how sharing them in the desktop app is reflected on the phone.
I've also read things about putting the address book on a shared drive and then symlinking our folders to that location, but I'm worried that our "me" vcards would then be confused.
The end goal is for her iPhone's contacts to be updated when I update a contact on my iPhone (and vise versa). Simple enough right? Can somebody please explain how we can make this a reality?
    Thanks!

Go to /Users/Shared and make a new EMPTY folder there called Contacts.
Assuming the short usernames of your and your partner's accounts are "matthew" and "lisa", Open Terminal and paste these (paste each group of three lines all at once):
    chmod -R +a "matthew allow \
    delete,chown,list,search,addfile,addsubdirectory,\
    deletechild,file_inherit,directoryinherit" /Users/Shared/Contacts
    chmod -R +a "lisa allow \
    delete,chown,list,search,addfile,addsubdirectory,\
    deletechild,file_inherit,directoryinherit" /Users/Shared/Contacts
Then log in as the user of the account that has the Address Book info you want to share.
Then go to HomeFolder/Library/Application Support. Hold down the option key while dragging the AddressBook folder to /Users/Shared/Contacts.
Verify that the copy worked, and then delete the HomeFolder/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder from its original location.
Then, command-option-control-drag the AddressBook folder from /Users/Shared/Contacts to its original location in HomeFolder/Library/Application Support. This will create an alias.
Then log in as the other user and repeat the last step.
The above is exactly what I do to share iMovie projects and iTunes and iPhoto libraries between my wife's and my user accounts.

  • File system management when sharing photos/music with other users in Mac OS

I'm a new convert from the Windows world. I'm trying to setup multiple accounts for each user within my household. However, I'd like us to all share the same set of folders for photos within iPhoto and music in iTunes. Is it best to just used the "shared" folder instead of keeping them in the standard home directory and trying to share those folders with other users? What is the best approach to this. I would imagine most people do this for managing their music if not photos as well. Just trying to learn best practice on the file system management before I copy over gigs of files from my old PC.
    Thanks much,

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This might help with iPhoto.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Finally: If you’re comfortable in the Terminal, and understand File Permissions, ACL’s etc., some folks have reported success using the process outlined here . (Note this page refers to 10.4, but it should also work on 10.5). If you’re not comfortable with the terminal, and don’t know an ACL from the ACLU, then you’re best doing something else... Oh, and the warning about simultaneous users still applies.

  • Sharing Custom Stamp Palette?

    Hello,
I have created a Custom Stamp Palette, which is working great.  I now would like to share this stamp palette with other's in my office, without them having to recreate the stamp palette on each individual computer. Is there a way I can save my cusom stamp palette, and send it to my colleagues, and have them open it on their own computers and use it?  Or do they each have to go through the steps of creating the custom stamp palette like I did?  I have tried going to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\plug_ins\Annotations\Stamps\ENU, and importing my custom stamps to the StandardBusiness.pdf document, but it doesn't seem to recognize my custom stamps.  I can delete the default stamps from that document, and when I do, those stamps that I deleted no longer show up.  I thought I might be able to add my own custom stamps to this location, and have them show up, but didn't work.  I'd be surprised if Adobe didn't think of this in the beginning, I'm sure they knew people would want to share their custom stamp palette's.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just add your custom stamp pdf file to the location, do not import your stamps into an existing stamp pdf file.

  • Can I share tags with other users on shared folders?

I have a shared folder that contains research articles. I have been able to set up the shared folder successfully so that 2-3 users can access the folder, add files and delete files. I have also been able to use the "tag" feature which has made it very easy and effective for tagging research articles by multiple categories and for searching for research files by tag/category.
However, what I have found is that the only person who can search by tag is the one who originally tagged the file. Other users of the shared folder cannot search by a tag that another user has created. Is there any way for 2-3 users to share the same tags and be able to edit these tags and search by the same tags? I would prefer that 2-3 people manage this research folder instead of just one.

No. iCloud provides no equivalent of the iDisk; it's designed for syncing calendars, email, bookmarks, contacts, photos a iWork (only, so far) documents between your Mac(s) and iPhone/iPod/iPad. The data is not accessible to anyone else.
For file storage and sharing you will need a third-party solution - this page examines some options:
