Sharing folder over bluetooth

i haveen some phones(other brands) can share folders or whole content of memory card by setting permission to a folder or media so that when 2 devices get paired, permitted folders can be access from the other phone like sharing over LAN.
I could not find the same in s60 devices. Am i missing somthing or there is no such feature in nokia phones?
This is necessary because in bluetooth i could not send multiple files even when i select 'mark all' in a particular folder and send through bluetoot only the first file in the list will pass through and the rest remain unsend.
Should i send every files one by one?
Or is there any method of sending multiple files when two devices are paired?

hhmmm.....
Anyone??

  • Using a wired shared printer over bluetooth

With MSI 6967, the user manual says that you can only print directly to bluetooth-enabled printers.  This must be untrue?  Surely it would be relatively easy to construct simple SW that could send print jobs over bluetooth 'Network Access' to the other pc's local shared (and wired) printer?
I have seen utilities that do this on Mac, and I have seen something for pc altho it prints a watermark over everything until you buy it (I think it was £20, which seems a lot).
I'm only after something simple and freeware/open source.  Any ideas?
If there is nothing I may build something myself, if there is enough interest.

I seem to have managed this with my desktop PC running XP Home with an Epson parallel printer and a laptop also running XP Home. I can't claim to understand exactly how I did it but would be more than willing to share any network setting information with you.
Basically I set the printer to be 'shared' under printer properties and both PCs to belong to the same workgroup (MSHOME is the default name).
After experimenting with all sorts of Bluetooth settings to no avail I eventually decided to explore My Network Places, View workgroup computers. Much to my amazement I could see the other PC with the attached printer and could make it the default printer for the laptop!! Needless to say I had to connect the laptop to desktop for network aceess (right-clicking the icon in systray)
The only drawbacks are that 1) it doesn't start printing straight away - maybe 20 second delay and 2) the print monitor doesn't update (it won't tell me how much ink is left etc)
I was pretty sure it should be possible but took me many attempts before I succeeded.
You need to keep an eye on your firewall settings as I found this was blocking some of the attempts to print over the network.
Hope this helps or at least gives some encouragement

  • IPad is sharing Safari over Bluetooth

iPad mini, iPhone 5, iOS 8.3, both Verizon models
    AirDrop is off
    Shared AppleID
Safari is disabled in iCloud settings
It seems that when Bluetooth is on, my devices are sharing non-private Safari pages when they are active. For example, Safari is open to apple.com on my iPad. I double click the home button on my iPhone to show open apps, and at the far left there is a Safari symbol with "From xyz iPad." Choosing it will navigate Safari on the iPhone to the open iPad Safari page. The reverse is also true. Switching to the home screen or different app causes the "shared" Safari to go away on the other device. Turning off Bluetooth seems to disable the sharing completely.
Is there a way to get this to stop without turning off Bluetooth?
    Is this feature documented anywhere?
    Thanks for your assistance.

    Hi!
I have a WD my book external hard drive plugged into my imac and I want to share it over my network with my apple tv. I went into system preferences > sharing, checked "file sharing" and added my external hard drive to the shared folder. So now it is listed in "shared folders" but under "users" everything is grayed out (it says "read and write" for "everyone" - but "read and write" is grayed out, and it doesn't let me add or subtract users). Now I can access all of the folders I shared from my imac except for the externalhard drive. What's going on?

Hi RRFS!,thanks for help.I forgot to tell that hard drive has 2 partitions 1:format :Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and that works properly,2:format:MS-DOS (FAT32) and when i "get info" for both :first has shering & permitions:You can read and write - with name and privilege, second has shaing & prermissions:You can read and write- without name and privilege

  • Sharing internet connection over bluetooth

i have 2 computers less than 10 metres apart, one of which is connected to the internet broadband. the solution for sharing the connection wirelessly with this particular setup is rather expensive.
i was wondering if it would be possible to share the internet connection on the computer that has it over bluetooth with the other computer.
i read an archived response suggesting that it was. can someone confirm?
    just to be clear:
i hoping to have 2 computers bluetooth connected the second of which will be able to connect to the internet via the 1st computers connection.

While it is not explicitly supported by OS X, both machines can be configured to do this. For lots of reasons, I don't think that this is a good idea. Your Bluetooth link is so slow compared to either a wireless—or even much faster terrestrial—ethernet link, that it's not worth the effort to enable this service.
Save yourself a great deal of grief and disappointment, and get ahold of a relatively inexpensive ethernet gateway [wired or wireless] and set up a small local area network. You will be far more secure, and enjoy a far better level of performance than you would see if you attempted to create a Bluetooth LAN.
That said, here is a set of instructions for enabling internet sharing using Terminal commands. It's paraphrased from…
    http://www.macgeekery.com/hacks/pppoverbluetooth
In the Bluetooth preference pane's sharing tab, make a new Serial Port Service and name it bt-ppp and make it an RS-232 device. If it's on, disable internet sharing in the Sharing prefpane. Then create the following script [shown below.]
The script starts pppd on the new Bluetooth serial device you've created, then sets up IP forwarding, NAT, and the like. The en0 can be replaced with en1 if your primary net connection is AirPort. You can change the IP listed to something appropriate for your network, as well. If you put it in the range of IPs you're already using for your home network, natd is smart enough to work as a router instead of a gateway. Run as root, but—for the love of all that is holy and just—use sudo instead of su.
This is the script you must run in terminal:
    /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/tty.bt-ppp 115200 noauth local passive proxyarp asyncmap 0 silent persist :10.1.1.25 &
    /usr/sbin/sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
    /usr/sbin/natd -same_ports -use_sockets -log -deny_incoming -interface en0
/sbin/ipfw add divert natd ip from any to any via en0
If you are unfamiliar with issuing commands from the Terminal or are not familiar with what these unix commands mean, I would suggest that you proceed very cautiously, and do more research before attempting this.

  • Windows shared folder asks for permanently delete

    Hi,
Any file from windows shared folder asks for permanently delete and after that it is not recoverable... Please help, how to enable recycle bin service??

    Hi,
This is by design the Recycle Bin only stores files deleted from local drives, not from a shared folder. The workaround is to move a folder in C:\users\<user name> to the shared folder.
For more detailed information, please refer to the thread below:
Files deleting over the Network /share drive is not going to the recycle bin it permanently delete the file but deleting from local drive is normaly going to recycle Bin !

  • Access MS Access database on remote computer (shared folder)

    Hello,
    I need some help.
I've made a program and it works fine on my computer, but multiple users will be using program simultaneously, each one on his own computer conected over local network to mine computer (database is on my computer in shared folder).
When I try to access data on database (path is path of shared folder) i'm getting error 5013 (no database). The problem occurs only when I'm trying to read something from MS access database but not if I try to read data from .txt file, then it works fine...
    I'm using ADO Tools
Can someone help me, I would be very greatful?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks to you Dennis I've managed to figure it out.
I'll explain this for future generations
    1) I've created DSN. To do that open ODBC Data Source Administrator:
    - for 64 bit app C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
    - for 32 bit app C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
In System DSN tab click Add.. then choose Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (If you do not have this on list download that drivers from web) --> FINISH.
Enter Data Source Name (mine is Test2) --> Select... --> now because the MS Access database is on shared folder on remote PC go to Network... --> Browse... and select that shared folder --> Finish. Now you'll see all .mdb files on that folder and you choose your database --> OK --> OK --> OK
    2) Now in block diagram you connect string "DSN=your_dsn_name;" (mine was Test2) to ConnectionString connector of ADO Connection Open.vi
    It worked for me.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite, can no longer mount Mac shared folder on Windows 7 pc.

At the weekend I upgraded to Yosemite, and really liked the new look.
There is a folder on my mac which is shared over SMB so that it can be mounted as a network drive on a Windows 7 system. This has worked just fine for years, but then after the upgrade I found that I was no longer able to connect to the share. When I tried to remap the share it just kept asking me for password over and over again and failing to connect.
Windows could see the Mac was there in its workgroup, but not let me access it.
I tried on a Linux system, which could also see the Mac, but not mount the share.
After spending hours trying to figure this out, I wound up restoring my system from a backup made the day before.
Once I'd rolled back to Mavericks, the share worked just fine again.
Any ideas? Because if I can't map to this shared area on my Mac, then I can't upgrade to Yosemite.

  • Saving to shared folder on server: Item [...] can't be copied because there isn't enough free space – even though there is!

    Hi all,
I have a strange error with my mac mini mavericks/server setup. Everything is updated to the latest software. I have a promise pegasus R4 over thunderbolt connected as my data harddrive-raid and use my server as a filesharing setup (I also use other services such as webserver, timemachine, dns, open directory, vpn, messages, caching).
I have about 10 users connected to this server that authenticate through their respective user accounts on the server and are all in the same group. Recently users startet complaining about a disk full error showing up in finder (or any other program they use), when they tried saving stuff on a shared folder on the server. I am not really sure what this is. The strange thing is that the error is not consistent, meaning some users can save and others cant, even though they are all in the same group and that group has read and write privileges according to the file sharing settings. When I use finder to propagate the rights on the shared folder, sometimes that helps and all of the sudden the user can save his file again. Also I have found that the user can save very small files, but not larger files (>1mb). The harddisk containing the shared folder has still several TB free (its the promise pegasus R4) and I can save files on it from some other computers or from the server itself…
Basically I have no idea what is causing this and I don’t really found anything alarming in the logs so far. I would appreciate any kind of hint, how to come close to what is causing this.
    Thanks and all best

BUMP, anyone? I still have this problem...

  • No "Shared" Folder in iPhone 4 ; iPod. OS 4.3

No "Shared" Folder in iPhone 4 ; iPod. OS 4.3
    Hi,
For some reason I can't seem to get the "Shared" folder under "More" on the iPod app via iPhone 4. I'm trying to take advantage of the ability to use my iTunes library on my PC on my iPhone. I had followed the simple steps to enable Home Sharing via iPhone and iTunes but the folder simply won't show on my iPhone.
Steps I've taken, plus information as follows.
    Windows 7
    iTunes 10.2.1.1 (uninstall-ed, reinstall-ed)
    iPhone 4 Version 4.3(8F190)
WiFi connection to my network is working (rebooted network, turned Windows firewall on/off)
Started with Home Sharing not being turned on in either iPhone or iTunes.
Turned it on in iTunes first via Advanced -> Turn On Home Sharing and entered my AppleID/password -> Create Home Share -> Done. Confrimed under Edit -> Pref that "Share my local network" is checked with "Share entire library" checked. No password required.
Then on the iPhone via Settings -> iPod -> Home Sharing field Apple ID / Password entered.
    Library name: Jarrod's Library
Soft reset done on iPhone along with rebooting PC and network and regular power cycles on device.
Turned Windows firewall off/on. No other firewall/virus programs running.
Re-create my iTunes Library, backing up the .xml file and reapplying it as import, then reapplying onto iPhone via sync.
I had to "repair" the Bonjour software when I first attempted to turn on Sharing in iTunes via Pref (before entering info on iPhone) because it was Bonjour was disabled, I repaired it via windows and was allowed to check the box then.
Reviewed my router settings; DNS via iphone is 192.168.0.1 and is the same under Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Description: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2
    Physical Address: 6C-F0-49-51-CF-D7
    DHCP Enabled: Yes

So my Ipv4 DNS servier matchs via my routing DNS setting "Router IP adress".
no firewall protectin or mac protectin active. (the wifi will connect to my home network
Summary: Confrimed all the acccount info(in itunes Home sharing, ipod settings) is entered correctly and Sharing is enabled then. Up to date software, rebooted networked/devices(PC,iPhone), firewall off/on, WiFi works with the network/PC/iPhone in question. up to date software.
That's pretty much where I left off from Apple tech support, which I`ll be calling back tomrrow. Just documenting my steps and hopfully will find a solution to make home sharing work on my iPhone via my wifi networking/ PC with iTunes. Before having to call back. Thanks for any help.
Thanks for any suggestion and I'll keep this upto date with more info.

hey still having the issue if anyone knows a fix or where i found follow furhter help. i currently cna't call apple back. tnump!

  • Unable to access shared files over network after period of time.

First off, I don't think that this issue is related to our router, but I have been searching for a fix and can not find one. We have a WRT54GS. Now, on to our issue:
At my work, we have a small network with computers sharing files between the others. I have attached a network diagram to help explain this better.
Our Win7 machine is our main computer that shares an external hard drive with much information that the other computers need to access. What we have noticed is either after a sleep, or even a period of time of say, 2 hours, those files are no longer able to be accessed. The Win7 machine is still sharing them, but the WinXP machines are unable to access them anymore and my Mac can see the computer is unable to connect to the folders. I have gone and attempted to get some help over at Microsofts site but that was a fail. Here is the link to the forum post there. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/f0a2e8d6-f75a-41d7-a280-c6f3adbffa...
A member there gave me this:
The Network connection is probably not resuming after sleep.
    First try this, http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/power_save_win7.jpg
It is in the Network Connection Properties under the Network card configuration.
If it already checked this way, or does not work after checking, the Network card has to be taken out of the computer's Power Saving loop, and stay on all the time.
Otherwise, Updating the Card with the latest OEM drivers (downloaded from the computer's support site) might help too.
On a rare occasions, some cards might be "Quirky" in this regards and need to be replaced.
--I would like to add that this DOESN'T ONLY happen after sleep, it also happens after a time of being used.
I attempted those and no luck. This problem is still occurring and the only way we can fix it is by restarting the Win7 machine. But even if it is being used, we have no idea when those files are unable to be accessed.
*I will add that the Win7 machine is still able to access the other computers when this problem occurs if that helps.
**The Win7 machine is a Dell T3500 running Windows 7 64bit. I can provide specific hardware if needed. The drivers are all up to date as of yesterday.
***So upon looking in the Windows XP machine, both of the folders from the Win7 machine disappear once this problem occurs in the My Network Places folder. And one folder is on the internal drive, one is on external. The computers are in this situation now where I am unable to access them. The Win7 machine can read and write from the other computers, but the other computers can even see the Win7 Machine.
****All the connections are wired and are not using the wireless.
Thanks for any help that anyone may have for me!

It sounds like there is incompatibility issue with XP and Win7. To isolate this, do you have another Win7 machine? Try to add it to the network and check if the shared drives are accessible after sleep. If you don't have another computer, try virtual machine and create a Win7 system.
Update your LAN card driver from the manufacturer's site. Don't use the driver from windows update.
Lastly, does this happen to your XP machines? Like, one of the XP machine sharing a folder and falls asleep. When it wakes up, does Win7 machine can still access the shared folder?

  • Why can't I share my files easily in a shared folder?

Let me explain more carefully.  I have two Macs on a home network.  I want to share a folder which is on Mac 1's hard drive so that Mac 2 can access it over the network and open any document in that folder, make changes, etc.  In other words, to be able to collaborate on a document in that shared folder so that both Mac 1 and Mac 2 are treated the same.  So that both users have equal, shared access to the contents of that folder.
So to do this, I go to sharing in prefs and add the folder.  I set it so that everyone can read and write.  I would think "everyone" covers it.  So I go to Mac 2 and it can see the folder, but when Mac 2 tries to open a document, it opens with a warning that it is read only.  So on Mac 2, I have to save a brand new copy of the same document with a new name.  I don't want multiple copies.  I want to be able to create a document on Mac 1 and tell the user on Mac 2 to go and open it.
This happens with Word documents and Final Draft documents, but with Final Draft documents, opening the doc on Mac 2 actually crashes Final Draft.  The exact same document sent to Mac 2 by email opens just fine.
So what's going on and how can I set up this shared folder so that it works nice like I want it to?
    Thanks.

Ordinary webspace won't do - what you get is a text file: this is the problem - MobileMe took the file published by iCal and formatted it as a calendar. Presumably if you were running your own server as indicated in the help page it would do the same; but unless 1&1 can speficially provide you with a CalDAV server it's not going to work.
Do your colleagues have Macs? For those who do, they can subscribed to a shared calendar in iCal and it couldn't be simpler. Presumably Windows owners could do the same thing in a suitable calendar program; and this is a lot simpler solution.
Another route: according to this site:
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/publish-ical-calendars-mobileme-os-server-mac/
box.net can do this for you. I seem to remember that this arose a while back, but I have a feeling that the poster then couldn't get it to work. I can't advise on that, but you might want to investigate it as an option.

  • Can't get alias to work in Shared Folder

    Hello,
I want to share my Pictures folder with other people on my home network. I thought it would be easy to just put an alias of it in the Shared Folder, but when other people log into my computer and see the alias in my Shared Folder, when they double-click it, it goes to their own Pictures Folder on their own computers.
After I made the alias of my Pictures folder, I changed the name to something else and then dragged it into my Shared Folder.
For the life of me I can't understand why this doesn't work.
It doesn't matter if they log in as Guest, or if I create a user for them and they log in with that. It doesn't matter if they are using 10.4 or 10.3. I'm using 10.4.11.
Other aliases to other folders work fine, just not the Pictures folder.
I don't want to have to copy the contents of the Pictures folder over as it's quite large and I don't have the disk storage to handle that.
    Any suggestions?

I changed the permissions to 'read only' for Others and it doesn't work. I even changed it to 'read only' for 'staff' and got the same thing.
Logging in as 'Guest' or any registered user will only resolve the alias to the Pictures folder in that persons own computer.
I made an alias of one of the folders in my Pictures folder and put that alias in the Public folder. Trying to access that alias from across the network gives this error message:
*The volume for "20081005 alias" cannot be found.* Insert the volume for "20081005 alias" and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again.
Logging back in as myself from the other computer and I can access this new alias just fine.

  • Cannot access a shared folder Error code: 0x80070035

    Hello Experts,
I have been working on this issue for like three days without a solution. I am truly desperate.
My company just purchased a new Cloud Server that we will use as our development environment for a software project. In order for all the developers (which are all over the US) to access the development environment, we need to have a few shared folders on
    that new server.
As soon as we got the server I did the following:
    1) Installed Active Directory
    2) Created a directory and made it shared - yes IT IS shared.
    3) I created a few new users on the new active directory domain
    THE PROBLEM:
I can't access the shared directory.
Other developers have been successful in connecting to the shared folder (so the share is working) - all except me.
when I open explorer and type \\IPADDRESS\SHAREDFOLDER instead I get this error (I am not even asked for credentials)
    Network Error
    Windows cannot access \\IPADDRESS\SHAREDFOLDER
    Error code: 0x80070035
The network path was not found.
    Things I have already tried:
    a) Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP - on all adapters - still did not help
    b) Disable IPv6 - I am not sure how to check if it truly disabled
    c) Turned off all firewalls - did not help
    d) Mapping a Drive using different credentials - I just get asked for credentials over and over
    e) Ping - yes I can see the server
    f) My credentials are correct because I can Remote Desktop with the credentials with no problem ( I am administrator)
    My Machine:
    Brand New Asus G Series
    Windows 7 Home Edition
    Any ideas?
    Sorcerdon

In my case it was that the OU that my system was in did not have firewall rules for network file and printer sharing enabled. I enabled all of the rules for Domain policy and that fixed it.
I noticed a lot of comments about turning off the firewall not working. I can't be 100% sure, but in my experience with Server 2008 and Windows 7, if you want to configure a service that uses the network the base filter engine and the firewall HAVE to be
turned on while you configure. You can turn the firewall off after configuration, but they have to be active during configuration.
    Good luck!

  • Can't open files created or pasted by network user in my shared folder, why?

When a user creates a file or drops one over network in my shared folder I can't open it without changing permissions first.
After installing 10.7.3 update Windows computer were not able to access my iMac anymore. After solving that issue this one was left for me to fight with.
I we googled hard and tried all permission repair methods listed, nothing helped.
Files created by Windows SMB users have RW permissions only for that user, an No access for Everyone. There are no permissions defined for me or staff group or anybody.
    Thank you for your ideas.

I haven't found a solution to this problem yet. All Windows users now access my Mac with my username, changing permission all the time became annoying. This is not a solution, rather an easy way out.
I Would very much appreciate if someone has a proper solution.
