Sharing Fragments

There are two of us working on the same Forms project. My co-worker made fragments and put a copy of them in a common folder. I went in and from the Insert drop-down menu, I inserted the Fragments from the common folder. How can I add them to the Fragment library? The best I could do was save them as an object, but that will do us no good if and when the fragments have to be modified in the future.
Please help.
Thanks

You can create a new fragment library pointing to the common folder. On the fragment Library tab on the far right side of it is a little drop down arrow. Click on that on you will see an Open Fragment Library option. Point to your shared folder and you will have a new librray tab. Make sure you are on the Fragment tab and not on one of the library tabs.

  • DTO, DAO - Displaying/Formatting Data in the Presentation Layer

    I need display multiple fields from a DTO throughout the presentation layer. What is the best way to format display data without duplicating the logic throughout presentation layer?
    Example
    I have a Person DTO that has first name, last name, and suffix 'getters' and am constantly showing the data out as "first last, suffix"
    Options
    1 - Create a utility class that formats the name of the Person DTO.
    public class DisplayUtil{
         public static String DisplayName(PersonDTO person){
              return person.getFirstName() + " " + person.getLastName() + ", " + person.getSuffix();
    }2 - Add a getter into the DTO that gets the data
    public class PersonDto{
         //Other fields, getters, and setters
         public String getName(){
              return person.getFirstName() + " " + person.getLastName() + ", " + person.getSuffix();
    }3 - Create a domain object (aka business object) using the "entity inherits from transfer object strategy".
    public class Person extends PersonDto{
         public String getName(){
              return person.getFirstName() + " " + person.getLastName() + ", " + person.getSuffix();
    }The easiest to implement now would be Option 2 above but it distorts what the DTO is supposed to be used for (which is transferring data).
    What have you done in the past? What is an "acceptable" best practice? Are there other options that I haven't listed above that you use?

    So, from what you advise you would have the following
    code in <b>all</b> of the JSP pages of the Struts
    app?
    <c:out value="${person.firstName} ${person.lastName}"
    />
    <c:logic test="${not empty person.suffix}">
         <c:out value=", ${person.suffix}" />
    </c:logic>The problem that I see with this is that changes
    would be incredibly difficult at a later date, since
    every page contains the logic about displaying the
    proper name format. (Say the client wanted to change
    to always display the last name first instead of the
    first name for all the pages. With this logic code
    being on every "template", their could be hundreds of
    pages to change. This is where I could see the
    benefit of a utility class like Option 1.)This is what the include directive is for. The JSP tags in your example should not exist (physically ) in each JSP file. They should be stored in a single JSP fragment file.
    The JSP fragment file is then "included" in each page via include directive. If you need to change anything for this at a later date, then you go to the single fragment file and make the change once.

  • Shared versus dedicated connections in the fragmentation of shared pool mem

    Hi,
    I have a old Oracle 8.1.7 database server.
    I have a legacy application with no source code. This application don't use memory efficiently (no bind variables, etc.) , ie memory becomes fragmented.
    I know that exists two ways to connect the database (dedicated and shared)
    Based on this, I want to know which of the two options creates more fragmentation. I know that recommendation is to use dedicated connection, but I'm not sure if this is recomendation is applicable in this particular environment.
    Thanks in advance.

    Whether you use shared or dedicated connections makes no difference for fragmentation in the shared pool. Whether your hard parse or do not hard parse does matter.
    Measures you can take
    - make sure often used packages like dbms_standard are pinned in the shared pool using a startup trigger
    - set session_cached_cursors to 50 or 100. This will reduce parsing.

  • Shared Pool Fragmentation View (x$..., k$, ....)

    Hi,
    does anybody know, if there is a view where i can see at which position in the shared pool there is free space and where are objects?
    Reason. I would like to build a fragmentation map (like the EM Tablespace Map)
    Thanks
    Marco

    There is a view called X$KSMSP which you can search in metalink which would let you know the size of chunks which are free but will not tell the location..Secondly queries on this table are known to cause performance impact..I believe making a fancy map is not such a good idea. Just ensure that your hard parses are not more i.e using bind variables and child cursors are not getting generated.<br><br>

    Find below a modified version of a script retrieved from Metalink 146599.1 to check for shared pool fragmentation
    I am not sure if it is possible, but is there any way to incorporate into this script a query that will show the effectiveness of using an ALTER SYSTEM FLUSH SHARED_POOL command .

    Running this SQL, flushing the shared pool, and the re-running should show what the difference before and after is - or does this not suffice?
    Flushing the shared pool is also not really addressing the root cause - which most often is non-sharable SQL.
    Thus I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve here. The SQL identifies the symptoms - flushing the shared pool treats those symptoms. For a while.
    Surely you should rather be looking at the shared pool itself to determine what the problem is and try and fix that instead? A db logon trigger for a poorly written app can for example force cursor sharing for all sessions created by that app.

  • Shared memory fragmentation:Duplicate cursor load in shared memory

    Hi,
    My database is suffering from shared memory fragmentation.
    I have checked large objects loaded in shared pool by running dbms_shared_pool.sizes procedure and found duplicate cursors with different size are present there.
    The statement looks like :-
    MERGE INTO UII_21C_PTP PTP USING (SELECT PTP_ID, SLOT_ID, SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME, MODIFIED_SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME, PORT_LOGICAL_NAME, DIRECTION, CAPACITY, PORT_TYPE, OPERATIONAL_STATUS, MANAGED_ELEMENT_ID, MTOSI_PORT_NAME, PORT_TECHNOLOGY_TYPE, MESSAGE_ID FROM (SELECT TMP_PTP.PTP_ID PTP_ID, TMP_PTP.SLOT_ID SLOT_ID, TMP_PTP.SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME, TMP_PTP.MODIFIED_SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME MODIFIED_SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME, TMP_PTP.PORT_LOGICAL_NAME PORT_LOGICAL_NAME, TMP_PTP.DIRECTION DIRECTION, TMP_PTP.CAPACITY CAPACITY, TMP_PTP.PORT_TYPE PORT_TYPE, TMP_PTP.OPERATIONAL_STATUS OPERATIONAL_STATUS, TMP_PTP.MANAGED_ELEMENT_ID MANAGED_ELEMENT_ID, TMP_PTP.MTOSI_PORT_NAME MTOSI_PORT_NAME, TMP_PTP.PORT_TECHNOLOGY_TYPE PORT_TECHNOLOGY_TYPE, TMP_PTP.MESSAGE_ID MESSAGE_ID, PTP.PTP_ID PTP_ID_1, PTP.SLOT_ID SLOT_ID_1, PTP.SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME_1, PTP.MOD_SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME MODIFIED_SUPPLIER_PORT_NAME_1, PTP.PORT_LOGICAL_NAME PORT_LOGICAL_NAME_1, PTP.DIRECTION DIRECTION_1, PTP.CAPACITY C
    And it has three entry with loads value 4488,4402 and 1 and sharable_mem are 250432,229720 and 6260.
    Is there anything wrong with this cursor ?

    make sure the env var ORACLE_SID is set.
    check PROCESSES in your init.ora file. if you lower this number (to say, 15) and errors go away then you need to up the semiphores kernel parameter (or leave PROCESSES set to a low number). Also, it is correct to get an error when trying to connect to a database that is shutdown. the only way to not get an error is use svrmgrl or "sqlplus /nolog" and then connect / as sysdba (or connect internal).

  • Oracle shared pool fragmentation

    We are running Identity Manager 7.0 using an Oracle database repository. We've been seeing shared pool fragmentation in the database resulting in various java.io.IOException: ORA-00600: internal error code messages when using bulk actions to create and remove accounts. Flushing the oracle shared pool is the only way we've found to clear these errors. Has anyone run into similar problems and found any solution other than increasing the size of the shared pool and issuing an 'alter system flush shared_pool' command periodically?

    I'm curious if there are are known issues with WebLogic 5.1 regarding the database
    shared pool, retaining a handle to SQL statements issues (so that they cannot
    be released), or anything similar? Thanks.What sp level of 5.1? We are caching prepared statements in the later versions,
    so for every pooled connection there will be up to 10 (or whatever cache size
    you set) prepared statements cached for re-use, and each of these will retain
    a DBMS-side cursor. I am not an oracle DBA so I don't know if this relates directly
    to the shared pool fragmentation...

  • Disp+work stop because of shared memory?

    Hello Gurus, I have an SAP server that will not start. It was running previously, but after a parameter update and an instance restart, I cannot get the dispatcher running.
    System is Windows 2012 Server, MSSQL 2008 R2, 16 Core 132 GB RAM.
    I believe it is related to shared memory overlapping somehow, but  I am not sure how to resolve or investigate. I have had issues previously with memory overlap halting SAP servers with Diagnostics Agents, but this server is not currently running any DAA. It is running SAPRouter and some SAP Web Dispatcher instances.
    I will include my trace files below:

    Hi Alwina, here is the DEV_ICM trace:
    From this trace, it appears that it is listening to 65000?
    Netstat shows that the system is listening to 127.0.0.1:65000 .
    Other SAP ports show listening on 0:0:0:0:xxxx , is ICM listening on 127 a problem?

  • File sharing in stratus?

    Hai,
    we got sample codes for file sharing and we implemeted it in our application. We are making use of stratus service.
    In file sharing there should be no loss of a byte.then how is ti possible in UDP?. Here we are using the protocol RTMFP for both connecting to stratus and flash player communication.
    Is there any switching of protocols for file sharing? what is happening when we use file sharing in stratus?
    Ad.thanx

    RTMFP communications are fully reliable by default.  RTMFP is a complete transport protocol implemented over UDP and handles retransmission, congestion control, encryption, message fragmentation and reassembly, message reordering, flow prioritization, etc.

  • How to submit values in multiple fragments?

    Hello,
    I am using Jdev 11.1.1.6 with ADFBC and ADF Faces as technology stack.
    Let me describe my use case first and then the problem.
    I have a BTF using page fragment. Let's call this MasterPage.jsff. This MasterPage.jsff has 2 regions, implemented as Master-Child BTF. Let's call them DeptTableM.jsff (Master) and EmpTableC.jsff (Child).
    Both fragments display data in read-only table with Edit button. When Edit button is pressed, another BTF included is rendered with Form layout. Let's call the form fragments as DeptFormM.jsff and EmpFormC.jsff.
    Both form jsffs have Save/Cancel button to complete the transaction and go back to display mode. Table and Form pages are using the same instance of VO.
    Hierarchy of fragments is:
    MasterPage.jsff
      ..DeptTableM.jsff   -->(region in MasterPage)
          ..DeptFormM.jsff     -->(region in DeptTableM)
      ..EmpTableM.jsff   -->(region in MasterPage)
          ..EmpFormM.jsff      --> (region in EmpTableM)The requirement is:
    1) When User press the Edit button in DeptTableM, DeptFormM should be rendered with fields available for modification
    2) While editing Dept fields, User should be able to press Edit button on EmpTableC and be able to modify the employee data
    3) When User press Save/Cancel in any fragment, it should affect (commit/rollback) in both the fragments. Make the form disappear and show updated data in table.
    Most of it is working fine with following issue:
    When User press Edit on say DeptTableM and modifies a value in a field (say DeptName) that does not have autoSubmit=true and then press Edit in EmpTableC. EmpFormC is rendered but the value of the field DeptName is reverted back to it's original value. It works fine for autoSubmit=true.
    Similarly, when both edit pages are visible and User make a change in DeptName field (autoSubmit=false) and press Save button in EmpFormC, it does not save the modified value in DeptName field. It works fine for autoSubmit=true fields and also when current page's Save button is pressed.
    Question:
    1) How to make the page to submit it's values when Edit button is pressed in another fragment.
    This usecase is globally required in our application and not one page requirement where you can just make every field autoSubmit. So I am looking for a solution without making every field to autoSubmit itself.
    2) If for some reason, autoSubmit is the only way then what could be the adverse impact of doing that in whole application with practically every field autoSubmitting (doesn't sound good though).
    Any help or pointer is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jai

    Thanks Sudipto and Frank for sharing this info. I have some questions:
    @Sudipto - The use case that I presented above is the simplest one. There are complex screens with 15-20 tabs at each level with 3-4 levels of master-child relationship. We are talking about almost 100-150 regions present on a page in different tabs. User has freedom to roam around, go to any tab and modify data using these Edit buttons and then finally Saving once. Since every BTF is using same transaction, every modified info is expected to be Saved with single save.
    How are you proposing queuing of ActionEvent to this hidden button (in every region) when we don't know which regions the User has modified the data?
    @Frank - I am not sure how this "command pattern" could help here. I understand that it helps in region-to-region interaction but how exactly it helps in submitting the values in region(s) other than current region.
    Are you suggesting to use contextual events to achieve what Sudipto suggested above i.e. using hidden button and queuing actionEvent on it?
    Sharing some more details: In our application, the Table jsff and Form jsff are based on 2 page templates. Table page templates has Add/Edit buttons and Form page template has Save/Rollback. Application is already using contextual events for region interaction and sharing info between regions using payload data. The architecture is not exactly "command pattern" but very similar to it. So I am familiar with contextual events and can implement something using it but I am not able to visualize on how to make use of it in this scenario.
    Another question from my original post is on setting autoSubmit property to true for every field. Is this good or bad idea? Does it put any adverse impact on performance?
    Thanks,
    Jai

  • Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 : Master Detail Using Fragment Error

    Hi
    When developing a master detail solution, using a page fragment, I have encountered the following issues. I have followed forum articles and My Support solutions with success. The steps I used to create the solution is as follows;
    1. Create ADF model project with 2 entities sharing a master detail relatiuonship.
    2. Ensure that FK assocation has Behavior property Composition Association checked.
    3. Test application module. Create works on both master and detail tables.
    4. Create ADF view controller project.
    5. Create a new task flow, with page fragments and add page to flow.
    6. Add master detail VO to created page fragment.
    7. Surround tables with Panel Collection components.
    8. Add toolbar and buttons to createinsert into master and detail tables.
    9. Add PPR to both tables for refresh when createinsert actions are performed.
    10. Create test page.
    11. Add task flow as region to page.
    12. Run adfc-config.xml
    13. Click on createinsert of master table. Capture data.
    14. Click on createinsert of detail table.
    15. Error stack is generated, JBO-25030 Detail entity with row key null cannot find or invalidate it's owning entity.
    I then created a JSF page and added the tables directly onto the page. I successfully created a master and a detail record.
    I then checked the Cascade Update Key attributes on the association and added the following code to the master ViewRowImpl class;
    @Override
    public void setNewRowState(byte state) {
    if (state != Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED || getNewRowState() != Row.STATUS_NEW) {
    super.setNewRowState(state);
    I ran the page containing the region and the following error was generated;
    <Utils><buildFacesMessage> ADF: Adding the following JSF error message: Attribute RegionId in Regions is required.
    oracle.jbo.AttrValException: JBO-27014: Attribute RegionId in Regions is required.
    I then changed auto-submit to true for the PK on the master table. This produced no error, however only the master records PK is committed to the database, other attribute values are ignored and the detail record is not committed.
    Regards
    Leon.

  • Best practice on dynamically changing drop down in page fragment

    I have a search form, which is a page fragmant that is shared across many pages. This form allows users to selct a field from the drop down list, and search for a particular value, as seen in the screenshot here:
    http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1291/174258525936074/1600/expanded.5.gif
    Please note that the search options are part of page fragmant embedded within a page - so that I can re-use it across many pages.
    The drop down list changes,based on the page this fragment is embedded. For users page, it will be last name, first name, etc. For parts page, it will be part number, part desc., etc.
    Here is my code:
              Iterator it=getTableRowGroup1().getTableColumnChildren();
            Option options[]=new Option[getTableRowGroup1().getColumnCount()];
            int i=0;
            while (it.hasNext()){
                TableColumn column=(TableColumn)it.next();
                if (column.getSort()!=null){
                    options=new Option(column.getSort().toString(), column.getHeaderText());
    }else{
    options[i]=new Option(column.getHeaderText(), column.getHeaderText());
    i++;
    search search=(search)getBean("search");
    search.getSearchDDFieldsDefaultOptions().setOptions(options);
    This code works, but it gives me all fields of the table available in the drop down. I want to be able to pick and choose. May be have an external properties file associated with each page, where I can list the fields available for search drop down??
    What is the best practice to load the list of options available for drop down on each page? (i.e last name, first name, etc.) I can have the code embedded in prerender of each page, or use sort of a resouce bundle for each page or may be use a bean?

    I have to agree with Pixlor and here's why:

  • JSFF Page Fragment not finding at runtime

    Hello,
    We have an WLS setup , wherein a jsff (say ‘abc.jsff’) is included in a Library and deployed on WLS as shared library. We also have a web application which refers this library ( added the reference in Weblogic.xml )
    At runtime, when a Taskflow link is clicked from the webapp (which in turns refers the page fragment) , we are hitting with IOException saying ‘abc.jsff’ not found.

    We verified the installation on WLS and library is deployed successfully, web-application is also deployed successfully. Any clue on this as why the IOException is thrown?
    Thanks

    Is the .jsff inside an ADF library? If so, are you using the ADFLibraryFilter and oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet and oracle.adf.library.webapp.ResourceServlet inside your web.xml?

  • Refresh fragments

    I have quite a bit of trouble refreshing fragments that are used as regions on pages.
    i have 2 use cases:
    1. 2 or more fragments that are on the same jsff page, one of them holds an overview of the data in the database and the rest is used to change it. How do i refresh the overview region when the data change?
    2. a fragment is used by being imported as a jar to another workspace and then dropped as a region on a jsff. How do i from another fragment or page in this new workspace refresh it.
    Hopefully there is a solution i can use for both cases.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

    Hi,
    your question falls into the category of region interaction. Here are your choices
    Option 1. The task flows use a shared Datacontrol setting. In this case a PPR of a dependent region shows the data change
    Opion 2. Task flows cannot use PPR directly (e.g. the fragments are in sibling regions) : In this case you can work with bean dependency injection: Create a managed bean in viewScope in the parent task flow definition. Pass a reference to the managed bean to the task flows as input parameters (both task flows will need to have a input parameter defined that takes a reference to this bean and safes it in a task fow page flow scope bean). This way both regions can call out o the parent taskflow, which now has control to refresh (PPR) a dependent region.

  • Sharing My Master File in FCPX

    I am working on Final Cut Pro 10.1.3, although my problem has been reoccurring through several versions.  Although my original footage (1920x1080) appears clear and without any fragmenting within the timeline, when I share the footage as a master file, the .mov is very fragmented. I have rearranged my settings before sharing the master file numerous times, but cannot find any outcome that is sufficient.  I have an example of this fragmentation posted as an unlisted video on YouTube, http://youtu.be/0-c2Pe3ABWs When this video, Clip #56 (FCPX), is viewed in 1080p, this fragmentation is very noticeable.
    As a test, I placed the same footage in iMovie and exported the footage.  The exported .mp4 file does not show any fragmenting. I have an example of what I would like it to look like in FCPX as an unlisted video on YouTube, http://youtu.be/YqqWkttAyHM When this video, Clip #56 (iMovie), is viewed in 1080p, there is no fragmentation.
    I would like to know if the exported clip in Final Cut Pro can possess the same quality as that exported clip in iMovie.  There has to be a way. If anyone has any insight, please help me with this matter.
    Sincerely
    FLCurrent

    It's not a playback problem. You can see it clearly if you download the 1080p HD version, which is actually 1080i.
    Maybe you'll see the image.
