Sharing free busy and GAL between exchange organization.

HI, we are looking to share free busy and GAL between 2 exchange organizations. Thus far using the Microsoft federation gateway appears to be the better option for us to achieve this. Although due to both exchange organizations using the same SMTP email
domain we may run into issues trying when both organizations attempt to create the federation trust using the same autodiscover.abcdomain.com
What is the recommended approach to work around this issue?

Change the e-mail domain in one of the organizations.

  • Outlook 2007 Clients Cannot Access Free/Busy Calendar info. for Exchange 2010 Mailbox

    Hi:
I have Outlook 2007 clients that cannot access Free/Busy Calendar info. for Exchange 2010 mailboxes.  They receive error like "...you do not have appropriate permissions..."
If those same users logon to a machine running Outlook 2010 then they can view the free/busy info. of the other user's mailbox, so I believe the permissions are set correctly on the mailbox to allow the viewing.
    Any insights are greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Bob Herman IT Tropolis

    Hi Herman,
As you said, it seems users have proper permissions on mailbox.
Please make sure users has Reviewer permission on Outlook 2007.
Please try to run Outlook 2007 under safe mode or re-create profile.
Also try to turn Outlook 2007 to Exchange Online mode from Cached mode.
    Thanks

  • Wokstation needs AD membership for Free/Busy and Shared Mailbox?

    Environment:
Exchange 2010 fully operational with mixed Outlook clients and OWA.
The workstation of interest runs Win7x64 with Outlook 2013
The user of interest has an Active Directory account, but the workstation is not member of the domain, so he doesn't use the AD account for authentication to the workstation.
    Scenario:
User configured Outlook 2013 with his Exchange account without issues. All mail functionality seems to operate fine.
User cannot access the free/busy information of colleagues (he can do so through OWA, but not through Outlook)
User cannot see a shared mailbox to which he has received access (he can do so through OWA, but not through Outlook).
    Question:
Other colleagues do not experience the same issue. The only apparent different is that their workstations are part of the AD. I was not aware of any requirement about domain participation for this functionality. Is there?
Are there any ways to circumvent the issue? We are unable to add this workstation to the domain, but the user should be able to have a fully operational Outlook.
    Thanks,
    Johan

    Hi,
Based on my research, the domain name “autodiscover.domain.com” was pointing to the TMG server and the autodiscover virtual directory and the URL https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml has not been published by the TMG server. This
    may cause the issue.
Please try to add the domain name “autodiscover.domain.com” to the internal DNS and then check this issue again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Exchange 2013 servers not sharing Free / Busy

Some of the users on EXMB01 are not able to see users calendar Free / Busy information on EXMB02.
In our exchange 2013 (CU5) environment the following server: mailbox EXMB01 and EXMB02, CAS EXCAS01, EXCAS02 and EXCAS03. Server are Windows server 2012, mail domain is mail.domain.com and does not match our internal network of local.domain.xyz
(Non standard was setup before me).  All setting point to mail.domain.com for mail configuration.  External cert from a CA was added to all three CAS servers.
    USER1 on EXMB01
    USER2 on EXMB02
    USER3 on EXMB02
Was able to get USER1 to see a USER3 can see all Free/Busy, subject, location now (only set the Free/Busy time) .  Added USER02 see Free / Busy, subject, location (also only set Free/Busy time). Added my own calendar to the USERS01 to the
USERS01 outlook and can see my Free/Busy, subject, location.  I only have by default Free/Busy time set no one else added.
What settings to I check first? Is their a PowerShell command to reset a users calendar permissions?  Is something not set correctly on the servers?

  • Calander Sharing Permission is not effective between Exchange 2007 & Exchange 2013 User

When a Exchange 2013 mailbox user share a calander with user in Exchange 2007 with OWNER permission, but Exchange 2007 user cannot modify or view full details of Exchange 2013 user calander.
And same behavior from Exch2007 user sharing calander with Exch2013 user.
In both scnarioes we can view only free/busy information. Cannot see full details of the meetings, cannot edit/modify. But permissions are set correctly.
Getting Yes or No prompt window with message "You dont have permission to view the calander, Do you want to as User A to share his or her calander with you?"
We are in Co exsistance with Exch2007 and Exch2013 CU3.

    Hi,
Does the issue happen to all users? What about Exchange 2007 users share calendar with Exch2007 users?
Please double check whether calendar permissions are configured properly. If possible, we can remove the permission in Outlook then re-add it back later to check whether it works.

  • Is there any way to shared Lync SIP address space between two organizations for long term coexistence as in the email world?

-EnabledSharedAddressSpace is this an option is this only for Lync hybrid in office 365

    Hi mombu,
Sharing of sip domain is not possible in Lync.
The DNS record for automatic sign in can only point to the Edge server of one Lync environment.
If user who is from different environment tries to login to Lync externally using automatic sign in, they will be directed to the Edge mentioned in the DNS record and
will get a 404 error because Lync server does not recongnize the user and will not be able to login to Lync.
    Possible solution:
Change sip address of the users of one Lync environment and configure federation between the two sip domains.
Change will require change of sip address of users.
Change of certificate for Edge and reverse proxy.
    Change of SRV records.
Contacts needed to be removed and added with correct sip address.
Meeting needs to be rescheduled .
    Central forest solution:
Create a forest trust between the two forests.
Use Lync server of one environment.
Configure Lync for a central forest topology
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398173.aspx
by creating contacts for each user from the other domain and enable the contact for Lync.
All users will have the same sip domain and can login using their login credentials but will be hosted on the Lync server in one forest.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Sharing common libraries and ejbs between multiple ears

    Hi
I have been going through various articles at O'Reilly and discussions at serverside
(some outdated) on the packaging options in J2EE.

    http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/07/25/ejb.html
    http://www2.theserverside.com/home/thread.jsp?thread_id=7530
I am still undecided as to what is the best way to package and deploy
    - a set of EJBs (Stateless Session beans) and
    - utility libraries
that need to be shared by multiple ears.
We have a set of components - 4 session ejbs and 15 utility classes like log4java,
xerces, custom utilities etc... which need to be shared by all applications running
on the server (in a clustered environment).
There are over 22 applications and these will be packaged in individual ear files.
If we choose to put the common EJBs and utilities in each of the application's
ear, then for every change to this common library all the applications will need
to be repackaged and redeployed, which obviously is not desirable.
If we choose to use the 'Class-Path' option in manifest file, from what I understand
the path to be specified is a relative path within the ear i.e. the path cannot
point to archives outside the .ear file, which does not serve our purpose. Am
    I right in this understanding?
What is the best way to package and deploy these common components under these
    circumstances?
Has anybody tried something like this before?
Would appreciate your comments on this.

    In My opinion,
I would be packaging the all utilities into a single jar file and be using
in the application server class path directly. whenever I want to change
this jar file I can change at one shot and package this jar file and keepit
in the classpath again. This works very well, if and only if each EAR file
is not using its own version of a libary of utility jar file. All earfiles
should be using a single and common library. In this case when you update the .jar file, you would have to restart the
server. I am not aware of any good solution which alleviates this.
    >
If I include this utility jar file into all ear files, the following arethe
difficulties we need to handle in the future.
    - What if utility library has been changed frequently, it leads to
    re-package all .ears and re-deployment
    - Unnecessarily adding a copy of a single jar file to all ear files,
    increases complexity
    - Any new application needed to be deployed, again which uses utility, we
need add the utility jar file to ear file
    - There is no logical separation and simplicity

    Hi,
Please make sure that Exchange Autodiscover is set up correctly for all organizations that use an organization relationship. If Autodiscover isn't working correctly, there's no supported way for you to use organization relationships.
Make sure that Autodiscover URLS can be resolved internally and externally for the organization with which you want to share free/busy information.
Make sure that the organization with which you are sharing free/busy information has its external EWS endpoint set up.
Refer to this link for more information.
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2838688?wa=wsignin1.0
In addition, if the users are in different organizations, please configure Organization relationships for them to share Free/Busy information.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657445(v=exchg.150).aspx
By the way, if the database are on different forest, please try to
configure the Availability service for cross-forest topologies.

  • Outlook 2003 Free/Busy only shows 2 months for users on Exchange 2010

    Hi,
We are moving to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 and have noticed that users who have been created on or migrated to Exchange 2010 who also use Outlook 2003 can only see 2 months worth of free busy information.
After doing some testing this is only an issue if the user who is looking at the free busy is located on Exchange 2010 and they are using Outlook 2003.  It doesn't matter if the mailboxes they are looking at are on Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2010.
If the user uses Outlook 2007 they see free/busy past 2 months.
We configure Outlook to publish 12 months of free/busy.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
According to your description, the issue only happens in Outlook 2003 but not in other Outlook versions. Please check whether there is the Auto Accept Agent installed in your Exchange server. This issue occurs when you register the Auto Accept Agent to process
meeting requests for the affected mailbox.
Here is a KB related to this issue. Please follow it to configure the period for which you want to publish Free/Busy information in a registry entry on the Microsoft Exchange Server on which you have installed the Auto Accept Agent:
The published Free/Busy information for a mailbox is displayed for the default period of two months after you have configured a longer period in Outlook
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917687
The free/busy publish range reverts back to the default setting when you direct book a resource in Outlook 2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905817
Additionally, I recommend you upgrade your Outlook 2003 clients to Outlook 2010/2013 for better working. Because Microsoft ended support for Office 2003 on April 8, 2014.

  • Outlook 2013 - Calendar issues: Suggestions cannot be provided because free/busy data could not be retrieved

I noticed recently that I cannot see anymore free/busy information for my own organization colleagues.
I'm using Outlook 2013 (latest updates) upon Exchange 2010 (SP ?).
The suggestion DO work on my account using OWA.
Other users w/Outlook 2010 have no problems.
I tried to run "outlook /cleanfreebusy" but that switch isn't supported anymore in outlook 2013.
    Anyone can help ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I didn't say two but three places.
Actually, my wording is a bit confusing. In terms of where you go to remove them, it is indeed "Program and features" and "see installed updates". Now within there, I had the KB listed several times (3) under different products (like "Microsoft Outlook 2013"
and "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013") and I had to uninstall the KB from all three entries.
Note that, as per Robert Sparnaaij (http://www.howto-outlook.com, http://www.msoutlook.info)
: "I’m aware of the issues but they are not as black and white as the article(s) suggest(s) and not that widespread either to do a general recommendation to uninstall
a security update. In case of the IMAP issues, they are actually wrong.", and "It was said to
be fixed with Path Tuesday for December (December 10) but unfortunately somehow the Outlook 2013 update missed the cut. It got published on December 13 after all but only was approved a little over 24 hours ago as KB2850061. However, at the moment, only the
downloads are available but not yet the KB article nor are they currently being offered via Microsoft Update so unfortunately, the issue will drag on a bit longer. I’ve just published an article about it here:
    http://www.howto-outlook.com/news/update-2013-12-ol2013.htm".
Lastly, "The KB article of the November update confirms that it fixes the Autodiscover connectivity issues with Exchange 2007:
If you are using Outlook to connect to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 mailbox:
You receive an error message that resembles either of the following when you try to configure Automatic Replies (Out of Office): Your automatic reply settings cannot be
displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.
You cannot retrieve Free/Busy data for calendar scheduling.
Add-ins that use the Account.SmtpAddress property no longer work.
These features rely on an underlying
Autodiscover technology. After you install this security update, Autodiscover may fail for Exchange 2007 configurations. Therefore, Outlook features that rely
on Autodiscover will also stop working. To resolve these issues, install update 2850061."
    Hope this helps.

  • How to share only free/busy info in iCloud calendars?

I currently use Google Calendar to manage my calendars, with some calendars fully shared (view full event details, read/write) with my wife.
I also have been sharing my availability with non-Mac using clients and external partners using Tungle (and am transitioning to TimeBridge, www.timebridge.com now that RIM killed Tungle).  Similarly, my wife currently shares free/busy info in her personal calendar with a work colleague who is on Google Calendars as well so he can see her availability even when it is affected by non-work events.
Lately we've been having increasing trouble with random Google sync issues, so I'm considering switching to iCloud calendar sharing instead.
We would like to continue sharing free/busy info with some people, and from what I've read iCloud doesn't have this sort of functionality.  Even when a calendar is shared publicly, people can view all event details -- something we definitely DON'T want clients or work colleagues to have full access to.
Is there any way to sync my iCloud calendars into a third-party site like TimeBridge or even Google Calendars so that I can share only my availability externally?  Or any other workaround?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, his Mac is not local to me. I would have to drive about 30 miles each way, which is not too bad, but I won't have time to do it for a couple of weeks and I am hoping an easier solution can be found without me having to drive, especially since if the problem is on my end, that trip would be a waste of time for both of us.

I have been working with Microsoft on this issue.  The patches below are suppose to fix this issue.  We are still currently testing them.

  • Retrieving free/busy information from the server takes very long time

Hello, we are running Outlook 2010 32-bit in Windows 7 64.bit, and  have encountered a strange problem, whenever we want to book
a resource (i.e. conference room) from Scheduling assistant, it takes very long time, sometimes even more than a minute to see the utilization of the room, it being stuck at "Updating schedule information. Retrieving free/busy information from the server"
The interesting thing is that most newly deployed PCs exhibits this same behavior, while older machines with basically the same setup gets the availability information almost immediately.
It is unclear whether this is a server setting or desktop issue, as all new Windows 7/Outlook machines that are deployed from the WDS-server exhibits the same slow behavior.
Please advise any troubleshooting steps to investigate the very slow retrieval lookup of free/busy information from the Exchange server.

    Hi,
Does this issue occur on OWA?
If no, it means the issue is mainly related to the Outlook client.

  • Free busy Issue

I recently setup a lion server and i imported calendar data,  user data via backup and restore,  and wikis via the wikiadmin script.  I am a linux admin mainly butcomfortable enough with macs.  Anyways i noticed that free-busy is not working with the users i imported but is working with newly created users.  I have searched the postgres database and the ldap directory for clues and i even found a resource_property xml entry about set free busy and another xml entry referring to transparent and so i manually entered them into the postgres database but it had no impact.
    Any ideas?

I have a very similar issue - the "Availability Check" for all users/locations/resources returns status "available" all the time, regardless of whether there is a conflict or not.
    10.7.3 on a MacMini5,2
    • OD Master
    • iCal
If a users checks their calendar using iCal client, it will show all appointments - it will also correctly show appointments for calendars that this users has read delegation on.  But with 100+ users there is a real need for users to be able to use the "check availability" tool in iCal client as opposed to trying to look at everybody's calendar individually.
I can post any logs/info you think will help, but I've not been able to find anything that even hints at anything wrong aside from a few entries in /Library/Logs/PostgreSQL.log
