Sharing Garageband project from ipad to ipad

Hello
i want to share a garageband project from an ipad to another one, but when saving it from itunes to my computer, it is stored in folders. If i send the folders to another computer, it is not possible to import these folders using the itunes, (so the project would go straight to the garageband ipad app)
Is there any other way to share it from an ipad to another??
thx
PS: im using itunes for windows

When transferring projects there are several ways to do this. If you talking about transferring a project that when loaded from the other person they get all your settings as you see it on your iPad. Ie. tracks that we're recorded, reverba nd delay choice and settings, instruments used ect... Then NO. What you can do is simply email the track or song to the other person. When they receive the email they can open it and save the audio files in garagebands and it shows up in the iPad GarageBand apple loops folder which then you drag and drop them into your project. You can also open the email audio right from within your iPad if you have Daw Multitrack or MusicStudio App for iPad then you simply hold down the song icon in your email for a few seconds and the option to open the file comes up by these two apps. Simply select the app to open it, copy to the pasteboard and that audio is now available throughout all you audio apps that support pasteboard copy which is pretty much all of them. To paste in GarageBand simply choose an empty track make sure you select the microphone, make the bar count set to auto, set the tempo to the songs tempo, set the key signature to match the song and touch the blank track and you will see paste, touch paste and whatever was in the pasteboard at the time will be pasted into your project. If someone wants to see an exact duplicit of what you are seeing then send them a note or text with the setting since there is only 8 tracks and just a few minor FX setting they should be looking at what you are fairly quickly. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays.

  • How can I copy GarageBand projects to a new iPad?

I recently got a new iPad Air 2 running 8.1.1  and I wanted to transfer GarageBand projects from my old iPad 3 running 8.1.2 to my new device. I found this harder than I expected.
You'd think the help instructions I found at http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/1.0/index.html#chsec12c387 would be sufficient, but some of the steps didn't work for me. Was it because I was running Windows on my partnered PC  rather than a Mac?  What this help link doesn't tell you is that, as difficult as it is for me now to navigate around and find my devices after recent changes to iTunes, that all that's available for File Sharing are GarageBand projects that have already been Exported to iTunes.  However, then I ran into problems with these instructions "Send a GarageBand Song to iTunes".  Step 1- the only place I see My Songs on my old iPad is at the edit screen of a project. When I hit My Songs, it shuts down that recording session and switches to a list of songs, but there is no Export Song button, just a plus sign in the upper left.  Hitting the plus doesn't get me to " Export Song button", it gets me to "Create New Song" or " Copy From iTunes File Sharing". It took me a long time to figure out I had to Select a song first, then the icons in the upper left changed and one icon gave me a way to upload to iTunes. Not at all like the help instructions, but at least I could get a project to File Sharing. (or Dropbox) However, if I selected more than one project, the Upload button grayed out.  I had 40 projects to transfer, so I wanted to find a solution that would be better than this.
I looked at Re: Import a proyect from garage band to ipad  and It is really unacceptable that I cannot transfer my garageband format songs from iPad to iTunes for windows and then add them to my new iPad.  Any ideas?  but they weren't matching up to my problem.  However, it was nice to find out about iFun http://www.i-funbox.com/ , which looks more understandable than iTune File Sharing.
What I eventually discovered was I could select multiple GB projects on the old iPad, and still have the Upload to iCloud icon available in the upper left.  All my remaining GB projects went to iCloud in one step and eventually they started to appear in GB on my new iPad Air, except that I had to buy some more iCloud storage.
Is this really the only way to move many GB projects to a new iPad?

    Hello marcia999,
This can be done through the Filesharing pane in iTunes (when the iPad is connected).
iMovie for iOS (iPad): Import from iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3239
If you created a project or trailer on an iOS device (such as iPad or iPhone) and sent the project to iTunes, you can then import the project to another compatible device through iTunes.
Import a project or trailer from iTunes
Connect your device to your computer, then open iTunes on your computer. After a moment, your device appears in iTunes, below Devices on the left.
Select the device, then click Apps at the top of the iTunes window.
Select iMovie in the Apps list below File Sharing (you may need to scroll to see it).
Click Add below the iMovie Documents pane; in the window that appears, navigate to the file you want to add.
Select the file, then click Open to copy the file to your device. The file appears in the iMovie Documents pane when copying is complete.
Open iMovie on your device; if you’re not in projects view, tap the My Projects button in the upper-left corner above the viewer.
Tap the Import button at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the project you want to import. When the import is complete, the project opens and can be edited like any other project.
    Cheers,
    Allen

  • How to transfer a garageband file from Mac to iPad?

Recorded some tracks on Garageband on the Mac; and want to transfer the file to my iOS device.
Tried emailing a .band file and an .mp3 ; but neither would open up in Garageband on the iPad.
Even put the file onto iTunes on the mac and synced to itunes on the iPad; but still can't figure out how to even open an mp3 file ; nevermind a band file on iOS Garageband
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks;-)

Recorded some tracks on Garageband on the Mac; and want to transfer the file to my iOS device.
You can only sync GarageBand projects from your mac to the iPad that originally have been created on your iPad. Creating a project on the iPad, then sending it to a mac, opening it on the Mac, doing some edits (but nothing that is not supported on the iPad), then upload it again to the iPad will work. But sendind a Mac-created GarageBand project to the iPad is not possible. The applications are just too different.
You can open your mp3 in GarageBand on the iPad, however.  Sync it to the iPad using iTunes, so you see it in the Music.app on your iPad. All songs there can be accessed from the Loop Browser on the iPad, see: Import a song from the Music app
To sync projects between iPad and Mac use iTunes.
To send a song from the iPad to your mac as a project, share the song to iTunes > GarageBand.
Sync your iPad with your computer.
In iTunes, the exported song appears in the Documents list in the File Sharing area when GarageBand is selected.
To send the project back to the iPad, add it to garageBand's Documents list in iTunes.

  • Can one move or upload a garageband project done on an iPad into logic for further and finer tweaking?

Can one move or upload a garageband project done on an iPad into logic for further and finer tweaking?

Share your GarageBand iPad project to iTunes as a project. Then you can import it into GarageBand and upgrade it to a GarageBand Mac project. And Logic can open GarageBand for Mac projects.

  • How can I delete my deleted GarageBand projects from my Dock?

    Hi everyone,
Since recently I've been using GarageBand again. After recording and deleting some songs, I noticed that the projects are still located on my Dock.
When right-clicking the GarageBand icon, they're located above Options. Also under 'Show Recent Files' (translated from Dutch), though when I click them, they can't open (for I've already deleted them through Finder - Users - Music - Garageband > Trash Bin (translated from Dutch)).
What I've been trying to figure out is, does anybody have a clue how to delete the GarageBand projects from Dock?
PS: It's annoying seeing those silly-named projects :[

    Lauch GarageBand,
and from the main menu bar select:
File > Open Recent > Clear Menu.
Then quit GarageBand again and log off.
The next time  you log on, the Dock recent menu should be empty.

  • Under PC with windows 9, can I move garageband projects from one iOS devide to another ? (e.g iphone to ipad)

I made a garageband project with iphone and export it to itunes to move it to my ipad.
Hoever, exported .band is decrbed as folder, not a file, so i cannot move it to ipad.
Do you know any way to solve this?

    Windows 9??? I didn't think 8 was finished yet!
At the moment iTunes can't add a folder to the file sharing area, only individual files. Looking at an iMovie project it is exported as a zip file with a .iMobileMovie extension and I don't really understand why the same hasn't been done with .band exports.
I have seen reports of success using iExplorer (formerly iPhoneExplorer) to add projects to the device but having completely failed to get it to work, or even show me the contents of the GarageBand app's folder on my iPhone I can't really suggest that as an option right now.
I have however submitted a bug report about the issue. With luck it will be addressed at some point.

  • Backup Garageband projects from iPad

I recently bought an iPad for recording my songs using Garageband whilst travelling in India, but I need to backup my work. I'd like to backup the full Garageband projects, not just an exported audio file. Trying to do this via iCloud or email isn't an option given the file sizes and the lack of reliable WIFI connections. I thought that using an external WIFI disk would be an option but after doing a little more research it looks like this isn't as straight forward as I'd hoped. If anyone can provide a solution I'd be most grateful.

    Hello Mandody,
If you are using iCloud, your projects will be backed up there and can been seen in GarageBand on your Mac if you have one. If you want them backed up, you can make a back up in iTunes to save the projects as a whole and that back up can be restored in case something happens.

  • Transferring GarageBand files from iTunes to iPad 2

I haven't discovered a way to transfer GarageBand files from the MacBook Pro via iTunes to my iPad with GarageBand installed.
I have selected 3 simple files i have done and added them to the GarageBand list on the Apps screen in iTunes. Each is a .band file and doesn't contain any plugins or video.
Each time I sync and open GarageBand on the iPad 2, I select the load icon that is supposed to show these three files from iTunes. Nothing is there.
    Did I miss something?

But that begs the question, "Why the Load File icon?" It doesn't have any function per se that I can see.
i believe that its purpose at this time is for shareing GBi projects between iPads. perhaps a future releasse will allow for GBX to GBi transfers. if it's a feature you want, be sure to let Apple know:

  • Sharing Garageband project across the net in iOS?

I am making music with a friend who lives in another city, and we decided to give Garageband a try.
Is there any way to share the project over the internet, som we both can record our parts into the same project?

Do you both have a mac as well?  You can download GarageBand for iOS projects to iTunes on a Mac, mail them or put hem into a Dropbox, and your friend can use iTunes to upload the project to the iPad.
I do not know of any direct way to transfer from iPad to iPad, unless you are using the same Apple ID and iCloud. To share an GarageBand for iOS song to iTunes as a GarageBand project follow the instructions on this Help page:

  • How do i open a garageband project from my old mac to my new macbook?

I have had my old macbook for 3 years and have just purchased a macbook pro os x.
I saved garageband projects to a usb from my old mac and went to open them on my new but they wont open?
    Help please

GarageBand doesn't reference audio files, it imports them all into the project package.
One exception: If you copy regions between GB projects, the new project only refers to the old one, so if you delete the old projects, the audio is gone. Same with loops, you have to have them in your current GB installation for them to work.
If you save a project "as Archive", all the referenced files are included.

  • Easiest way to move projects from Ableton to iPad

I'm looking to move whole song projects over from Ableton (PC) to iPad.  I don't mind if I'm using Garageband or a different app.
At the moment I can use iTunes file sharing to get tracks into iPad, BUT I have to mix down each individual track in Ableton as wavs, then drop the result into iTunes, then transfer to iPad, then find the wavs from a massive list, import/copy them one by one into garageband until they're all there and line them up correctly.  It feels desperately long winded.  Is there a quicker way?
    Many thanks

Thanks Limnos!  Really appreciate the help!
    To clarify:
    - I currently have only movies on the external 1TB drive (which iTunes points too).  The downside is that I ALWAYS have to have my external drive plugged in, in order to play on Apple TV (or view on MacBook).  I have appx. over 500GBs of movies on my external 1TB.
    - All music (appx. 200GBs) is currently on my internal hard disk, but with a 500GB internal hard drive, that's going to fill up quickly (just so you know - I already have about 125GBs of pics in iPhoto AND work in Photoshop regularly so PSDs lessen my internal 500GB space quickly).
Eventhough I HATE having to keep an external drive plugged into my MacBook, I'm just going to have to suck it up and get used to it so I will have more space and my MacBook will run faster.
With that in mind, I was thinking about moving my music (200GBs) onto my 2TB external drive (along with the movies).  So that would leave roughly the photos and Photoshop files (and random other things that are small in size) on my internal drive.
I could start all over and delete all movies that are in iTunes (the application - not the folders) and then drag and drop them into iTunes from the new 2TB, but I wasn't sure all the metadata (really the cover artwork) would be attached when I did that?  Going that route really doesn't bother me since I've already copied all movies files from my 1TB to my 2TB.  Basically, I would be starting over from scratch as if the old 1TB never existed.
Trying to run this through my mind and come up with the best/easiest way.  What I don't want to do is try and find cover artwork for the almost 300 movies I have (and all the cover artwork for the CDs I have too if I decide to keep my music on the 2TB external drive).
Hope that helps and makes sense?  Thanks again!

  • Is there a way to import a book project from my old iPad to my new one ?

How may I export a project in order to import it into an other iPad ?

You cannot transfer a book project directly. You can transfer the photos in the book using Shared Photo Streams or beaming them.  But to transfer a book you  would need to restore the other iPad from a backup of the iPad with the book. That would be a bit drastic.
