Sharing HP LaserJet 200d on Windows 7 to XP machine

I need help sharing  my LaserJet 220d running on Windows 7 with another computer running XP.
The HP LaserJet was originally installed on the XP 32 bit machine and it ran fine. I bought a new computer with Windows 7, 64 bit and Windows automatically installed the software for the printer and it works fine on Windows 7.
I have printer sharing turned on and the XP machine CAN find the HP printer across the network.
In reading the HP web support on this topic I did try to configure the HP LaserJet for both 64 bit and 32 bit (x86) drivers. However, when I follow through the step outlined on this page -
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517
I run into a problem in locating the proper driver. I keep getting an error message saying that I do not have the correct file.
I tried all HP 2200 PCL 5 drivers that I could find on this link, including the universal driver -
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=28862&pr...
but non of them worked. I kept getting the message that I do not have the correct driver. The exact error message is "The requested location does not contain the driver for the HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5 for the requested processor architecture.
What driver do I need to install on my windows 7 machine in order to allow the HP 2200d PCL 5 printer to be shared with my 32 bit XP machine and where do I find it?
Thanks very much,
Dan

HP seems pretty damned indifferent to its customers' problems.  I have about the same problem.  My computer has Windows 7 SP1 x64, with a LaserJet 2200D connected via USB.  I have been trying to share it with another computer, which is running Windows XP SP3 x86, on home network.
I am able to use the printer from my computer, but not from the XP machine.  I've tried to download "additional drivers" for the client machine, but keep getting messages "no driver found" after unzipping.  Also have tried installing drivers on the other computer, again to the same messages there.
I've had the printer working on both computers before, but only after hours of fiddling around with different drivers on both machines and then, only by luck it seems, did it work.  Can't seem to get it work this time around.
I usually reinstall Windows (win7) about once a year, and really do not want to have to go through this problem yet again next year.  I want to fix this problem now.

  • Sharing HP Laserjet 1020 from Windows to Mac

From Windows PC AA I can see folders shared from Windows PC BB and also see and use the HP Laserjet 1020 shared from Windows PC BB. From the Mac I am able to see folders shared from Windows PC BB. But I CANNOT see (or use) the HP Laserjet 1020? I tried adding a printer when printing on the Mac (Tiger)and could get to the Windows Network and find Windows PC BB - but the printer does not get listed. Using the same steps I am able to see and use a printer on Windows PC AA. What gives? How can I delete all references, keychains etc. to Windows PC BB and start again (assuming that may be the issue)? Error messages or log entries as to why this is failing would be nice.

    Hi Ron
Take a look at these two iFelix articles below, maybe you have just overlooked something simple! The first one walks you thru the steps with the printer connect to the PC sharing with the iMac. The second is turned around with the printer connected to the iMac sharing with the PC.

  • Shared HP laserjet P1005 inaccessible over WAN

Good day to all the peeps here, I'm a newbie and I am having problems with my hp printer. I can't access or add my Shared hp laserjet p1005  on my home network thru WAN? Please i need help about this! Is there a network configuration that i should do? I have another printer that is also shared and i can access it thru WAN, but the HP laserjet P1005 is inaccessible... Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the reply Sir Shane_R, and im so sorry to give you quite of the details about the problem. Here are the details:
We are using 3 HP laserjet P1005 in 3 different Remote locations (3 different cities here in Saudi Arabia).
All 3 of these locations have different (workgroup names) namely Rumailah, Compuh, and MCTEK.
Rumailah workgroup has 2 computers, and 2 shared printers which are an epson LQ-680 Dot matrix printer and an HP Laserjet P1005 connected on a Dell PC which has Windows XP Professional SP3 installed on it . The other PC has Windows 7 OS and it can print from the shared printer in this network locally.
Second location is Compuh workgroup and has an HP laser P1005 which is shared on a 4 node network. 1 Server 2003, and 3 Windows XP. Printing locally has no problem.
Third location is MCTEK has an HP laserjet P1005 also directly connected to a PC which has a Windows 7 OS installed and it is also shared.
    FIrewalls are turned off.
We're using Remote Desktop Protcol on these network to communicate which each of these computers. We are also using a database software which is installed only on the Server in (Compuh) workgroup.  My problem is I can't install or add these HP laserjet printers from any pc on any of these workgroups thru RDP on the Server (adding printers on the server using RDP session). Adding and printing from (Rumailah), using the RDP session and the Database software from the server (Compuh) with the Epson LQ-680 didn't have problems.

  • ITunes 9 Home Sharing does not work on Windows 7 x64

iTunes 9 Home Sharing does not work on Windows 7 x64.
    Getting the following error message:
Home sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the account "iTunes account." Please authorize this computer and try again.
This is a bug since my computer is authorized in iTunes and there is only 2 computer authorized for my iTunes account, so I have 3 more left till I should get this message.
I've just upgraded my iPhone to OS 3.1 using it this morning.
    Please advise.
Environment: Windows 7 x64, HP TouchSmart tx2-1020us Notebook

    I am using Windows 7 x64.
    I am running iTunes 9.0.2.25
    I am running Mcafee.
I can see and play music from the iTunes installation on my Windows 7 machine, but I CANNOT access the library to copy songs from this computer to other computers on my network.
YES, I have enabled "Home Sharing" using my iTunes account. NO, I have not authorized more than 5 computers on this account.
I believe this to be a Windows 7 related issue, as Home Sharing worked as advertised when I was using Vista (before I upgraded to Windows 7).
I CAN set up Home Sharing on two other (host) computers in my home network and it works. These computers are XP and a MacBook Pro. I CANNOT access my Windows 7 machine x64 to COPY music from one autorized library to another. Please help!!!
P.S. - I have attempted to get this to work by turning OFF my McAfee firewall. Windows firewall is disabled.

    Can't Print/Connect from Windows 7 64 bit to Shared PSC 1315 on Windows 7 32bit Machine...
I tried to install driver on connecting PC, i tried to install printer as Local printer with local port - \\WIN7-32bit\HP PSC 1310 Series\ - and  i got access denied, and before i reinstall Windows on 64Bit machine its worked correctly... anyone know how to solve this problem ?
    *Edited*
When i connect it on 64 Bit machine printer requesting driver *.inf and not specific file...
i try to install 64bit driver on 32 bit machine in sharing options and they didn't support it...

More than likely, you are receiving the access denied error because there may not be a HomeGroup in place.
To handle networks securely with Windows 7, Microsoft took a different approach.  A HomeGroup essentially creates a trust among all the devices in that home group.  If a device is not in that homegroup, then that system will essentially be denied access.
Click on Install a printer on a home network to get basic steps to install a printer in a network environment.
Click on HomeGroup: recommended links to get more information about Home Groups, including setting one up.

  • HP LaserJet 1018 and Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I was trying to select the "Print directly to the Printer" option under my 1018's printer properties, but I keep getting the following:
    "Printer Properties
Printer settings could not be saved
    The specified datatype is invalid"
Can anyone instruct me as to how to fix this?  Please let me know ASAP.  Thanks!

    Hello Candi_970,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that when you try to set the printer setting "Print directly to the Printer" for the Laserjet 1018 on Windows 8.1, but it will not allow it.
You could try running the Print and Scan Dr on the computer. This will not allow you to set the "Print directly to the Printer" setting, but it could fix a driver or software issue the is preventing it.
Let me know if this has helped.

  • How to install hp laserjet 1020 on windows xp

sir, i want to install hp laserjet printer on windows xp. it is displaying an error message "inappropriate invocation.unable to start application".
plz tell me what to do and how...

    Hello priyasim,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand you are receiving a message "Inappropriate invocation, unable to start application". I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.
I would recommend following this Microsoft document on You Are Unable to Start a Program with an .exe File Extension. If you are still unable to install the Laserjet 1020, then you would have to perform a clean install of Windows.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
