Sharing I-tunes with hole computer

Can anyone tell me how to set i-tunes and i-photo to be shared with other users on the same computer?
Maybe I can walk you through how to do this but I'm not sure if this will work.
Try these steps as they will not harm your original files.
1) Open the 'Finder' to your boot up hard drive and select it. Select the "Users" folder then select the "Shared" folder from this window.
2) Open another "Finder" window by pressing 'command+n' then select your user home folder, then the Music folder and then the iTunes folder.
3) Right click on the iTunes folder and select 'Make Alias' to create a folder named "iTunes alias".
4) Drag the "iTunes alias" folder to the "Users/Shared" folder in the other "Finder" window.
5) Log out and login as another user & see if you can add the "iTunes alias" folder as the iTunes Music Folder Location from the iTunes Advance Preferences.
Then let me know if this worked because then I can tell you how to add iPhoto as well.
Good Luck.

Sharing itunes music with another computer
I have another Mac OS 10.2.8 that I use at school. I am unable to use music from my home computer (10.2.8 also) on that computer. I keep getting the message to download version 7 of itunes. However it will not download on 10.2.8. I am supposed to be able to use this music on 2 computers. I know there is a way to still download music on itunes because I do it on my home computer. How is that done? I've forgotten.
Any music that you downloaded from iTunes can only be played by your user account that you log in with in iTunes. I don't understand what you mean by use music from home on that coomputer, but if you mean play stuff that you downloaded from iTunes you have to be logged in as the same person with all permissions to be able to play it.

Sharing iphoto library with windows computer
Hi. My husband has a windows laptop with an itty bitty hard drive, and not enough room to store photos.
I have all of our photos in iphoto on my Macbook Pro.
Can I simply export my iphoto library to an external hard drive so that he can also access the photos? Or is there a better way?I understand that that I can't just share my library.
I'm more looking for a way that my husband can access the photos. And, I guess, as a back up in case something were to happen to my laptop and for some unfathomable reason I chose not to get another Mac. (I already back up with Time Machine).
I have Mountain Lion. Do you know what my husband would need on his PC to use PhotoStream? Where are the photos stored on PhotoStream? -
Sharing XP printer with Vista computer
Hi, I recently ran into this problem at home, and I thought I'd share it here so hopefully it might help someone in the future.
I recently bought a T61, and was setting it up to work in my home network. All was well untill I tried to connect to my printer. My printer is connected to another computer, running Windows XP Pro. Everytime I tried connecting, it would tell me my computer was low on memory, please close some programs and try again. Well I have 3GB of memory, so that isn't an issue. It turns out, that since the printer is connected to an XP computer, it will try installing the xp driver on my computer, and my computer will reject it (I run Vista Ultimate). These are the steps to fix this problem.
1. Download/Install the latest Vista drivers for your printer
2. go to add new printer
3. Select Local Printer (not network printer)
4. Select create new port
5. For the name of the port, put the path of the printer (eg. \\DELLHOME\LEXMARK X215)
6. When it asks to look for the drivers, choose have disks, then point to the location where you installed the drivers
7. Voila! you are now set up to print over your network.
T61 15.4" T9300 (2.5GHz 6MB L2) Windows 7 Professional x64 4GB Memory, NVidia Quadro NVS 140MI had the same problem, installed Bonjour on the windows computer and was able to print right away... no reboot required using the generic driver for a canon mp470 printer on the mac pro.

I am experiencing on going problems with my i phone 4 due to me sharing an i tunes account with my daughter. I have been told by apple to cancel my existing (shared) i tunes account and open a new one for my use only. How do I do this? I cant find any links in i tunes to do this. mountfield
No, it's done on the computer, it's just done on the web and not through iTunes. I guess you could do it on the iPhone, but it would be easier to do on the computer.
Just go to the site linked above, then click on the big blue button and fill out the neccessary information. -

Sharing iTunes on a single computer with multiple users
Greetings,
I have been troubleshooting a problem sharing iTunes on a single computer with multiple users that cropped up a few weeks ago and have not had very good luck.
Several months ago I successfully set up my wife’s G4 Laptop (PowerPC processor) so that we could share iTunes on that computer. I had just gotten her an “My Book” external hard drive (Western Digital). The iTunes Library will go on this new unit because the internal drive was running out of room. I successfully set the privileges, moved the entire library onto a “Share” directory and everything worked fine.
In this way, when I got a new CD I could add it to iTunes (under my login, administrator privileges) and she could access it (under her login) to listen to while working on the computer or using her iPod. This arrangement went well for quite awhile.
About a month and a half ago, when I tried to launch iTunes from my login I received this message:
“The iTunes Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.”
I think the permissions must have changed when there was an update because my wife is pretty careful about what she does on her computer. Updates were the only thing I could think of that had changed since I had set her computer up. I also noticed that some of the iTunes defaults were different from the last time I had used it to add a CD.
So, I did some reading and went back through the motions of trying to set it up again. I re-formatted the My Book hard drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) added the files back to the external, reset permissions on the external hard drive. (Owners: System, Access: read and write - Group: wheel, Access: read and write – Others: read and write).
When I now launch iTunes under my login I get this message:
“The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.”
What gives? I am the original owner and have always had top-level privileges.
Can someone point me to any articles or clues as to how I need to set-up iTunes on a single computer to be shared by more than one user? Also, I am considering upgrading to the newer system in a few weeks, so if a solution for OS X 10.5 is available, that would work too.
TimWas your wife logged into the libray at the time you tried to log in? I have had a similar problem and it was because another user was logged into the library when I attempted to. I got the permission denied banner.

I shared itunes account with daughter's phone, never synced my phone with home computer through itunes, synced tonight with itunes but choose her iphone and it restored all her info on my phone, all my phone contacts, text messages and photos are gone - I had auto backup to icloud daily - is there any way to get phone numbers and texts back off icloud?
If you have been backing up to iCloud your camera roll photos, text messages and other data and setting should be contained in the backup. Restoring the backup to the phone should recover them.
To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings (which will erase the phone), then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish. -
i accadentally deleted my entire library (over 10,000 song) when i was trying to delete an old back up file off an external hard drive. Now when i open I Tunes and connect my ipod, a message says tht my ipod is not synced with this computer. This is the only computer this ipod has ever been synced to, so i don't know how to reconnect the two. I was able to restore all my music to the itunes library, but I lost all my playlists. I spent considerable time creating the playlists and they are stll on my ipod. Can I somehow sync in a way that my ipod can give the computer my play lists?
With your iPod connected to iTunes right->click on it's device name in the left hand pane of iTunes under devices and select Export Playlists.

I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.1.5 and now my iPod Nano is not recognized in iTunes. I also upgraded my iPhone 5s to iOS 7.1. i Tunes on my computer does recognize my iPhone. What is the problem with my iPod Nano not being recognized?
I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple. -
I am om i tunes with an i pod shuffle. I am now thinking of getting the i phone 3 gs. How do I know if my computer will be ok to download tunes?
you shouldn't have a problem, itunes allows up to a certain number of devices on the same account, around 10 maybe? we have 2 iphones, an ipod touch 4g and an ipod nano syncing and downloading from the same itunes account.
