Sharing in FCPX!

hey guys
ok one thing i cant understand!! shoot some stuff in HD, edit it etc and all fine! then when i goto share if i just export it as video, its all good, takes a few secs!! BUT if i choose apple devices>ipad for e.g, it takes ages, in fact i have not even waited to see how long as i always cancel, it was over 10 mins and not even halfway!!
any ideas please? or is a straight export better and faster then the apple devices route please?
many thanks!!

also when i export, the movie always seems like its more choppy and when fast actions, lines show up (sorry its late and i forgot what this is called!!)
any idea whats best export settings please?
i shoot on AVCHD, and when playing back via FCPX its smooth as ice and very nice detail but after export looks very different!!
many thanks!!

  • Stuck at 33% sharing from FCPX

I am stuck at 33% shared video as DVD. Actually tried most of the options for sharing but still stuck at 33%. Now trying to send to compressor but it keeps saying 44 to 47 hours time remaining. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to repeat the entire video.  As mentioned in a previous thread, I had no problem with Final Cut Pro last year but with the update to FCPX, the sharing and exporting imps are just crazy. Any suggestions how I can solve this?

I had this issue yesterday, came to the forums and tried many things. Tried deleting render files, changing to "frames" on the HUD, duplicated the project, removed the background image etc  - none of these helped. Just installed the 10.0.9 update - seems to work now :-)

  • How to change output video resolution.  I have 1920x1080 video but sharing from FCPX only allows 640x480.  I want 1920 output.  How can I resolve this?

I have 1920x1080 video file that I edited.  When I attempt to share the edited file from FCPX, it only allows 640x480 output resolution.  I want 1920 output.  How can I resolve this?

    Hi,
Final Cut will output the video at the resolution of your project's timeline.
You can change the settings and scale your project up though by adjusting the sequence settings and then, if necessary, copying and pasting attributes to scale up the sequence.
I had this question before and made a video explanation of how to re-scale a sequence here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=***9d-rHsKo&feature=youtu.be .
If you have any more questions about this then just drop me a message here.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • Media sharing on fcpx 10.1.4 not working : DSPPUBLISHING ERROR -29 : any idea ?

I use IMAC 27' with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2  and FCP X 10.1.4 : I want to share a short piece of movie ( of 7 mn)  I created. Whether it is to create an Image disc or to engrave a DVD , this fail at around 66% of the sharing process with the error : DSPPUBLISHING ERROR -29. Somebody has any idea ?
    Thanks. My name is Michel.

Did you follow the steps "Using mod_oc4j to Front Oracle Secure Enterprise Search with an Oracle HTTP Server" described here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10502_01/doc/search.1018/e10418/oessecurity.htm#CDDEJADG
If so, then SES will now be communicating by ajp13 protocol, and will be expected to be called from Application Server (AS). As it says in that section:
"At this point, to access the Oracle SES middle tier you need to go through the Oracle HTTP Server. In other words, for the Oracle SES URLs you now have to use the host and port of the Oracle HTTP Server. The original URLs are no longer accessible."
The URL that works now will be something like
    http://asserver:80/search/query ( or just http://assserver/search/query )
You can check this by editing $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_SEARCH/config/http-web-site.xml and changing "protocol=ajp13" back to "protocol=http". Run "searchctl restart" and SES should now be accessible from the original URL. Don't forget to change it back!

  • Jerky and noisy playback of Motion 5 project

I am having problems with the playback of Motion 5 title projects.  A simple three word title over a short video background plays back in jerks and with a series of clicks.  I have tried rendering at different quality levels with no effect.  When the project is shared into FCPX exactly the same happens, though the same project title made in FCPX plays back smoothly and without jerks.  I should appreciate any help advice.

I would suspect the background movie. In the inspector see what codec it is and if h.264 or some other compressed codec, then take it into Compresssor or MPEG Streamclip and convert it to a Pro Res 422 or Pro Res LT file.
    Good luck.

  • Best Practices for sharing media with iMovie and FCPX

So I've a large iMovie Events directory, and would like to use that media with both iMovie and FCPX projects.
I'd rather not duplicate the media, so would prefer to import as references into FCPX.
The dilemma is that I see that it's possible to modify or move media from within the iMovie application, and therefore break the reference to that media with FCPX.
I only see two options:  (1) Never Ever modify the location/name of media in the iMovie Events file (even from within the iMovie app) since I would break an FCPX link if that media is referenced, or (2) always import (copy) the iMovie events into the FCPX Event Library making an independent original so that I can confidently operate on those media files in either application.
I'd surely rather not have to do (2 )(e.g. doubling my storage demands) to gain the flexibility of using either application to edit the video, but really don't want to live with the restrictions of (1).
Thoughts / Solutions?  What might you consider as options or best practices?

Unless there is some other reason, users should own the right to share their mailboxes - it shouldn't be something that demands administrator management (if only so that the administrators aren't swamped by user requests for sharing their mailboxes).
For true shared mailboxes, when the mailbox is created, full access is granted by an administrator.

  • Sharing My Master File in FCPX

I am working on Final Cut Pro 10.1.3, although my problem has been reoccurring through several versions.  Although my original footage (1920x1080) appears clear and without any fragmenting within the timeline, when I share the footage as a master file, the .mov is very fragmented. I have rearranged my settings before sharing the master file numerous times, but cannot find any outcome that is sufficient.  I have an example of this fragmentation posted as an unlisted video on YouTube, http://youtu.be/0-c2Pe3ABWs When this video, Clip #56 (FCPX), is viewed in 1080p, this fragmentation is very noticeable.
As a test, I placed the same footage in iMovie and exported the footage.  The exported .mp4 file does not show any fragmenting. I have an example of what I would like it to look like in FCPX as an unlisted video on YouTube, http://youtu.be/YqqWkttAyHM When this video, Clip #56 (iMovie), is viewed in 1080p, there is no fragmentation.
I would like to know if the exported clip in Final Cut Pro can possess the same quality as that exported clip in iMovie.  There has to be a way. If anyone has any insight, please help me with this matter.
    Sincerely
    FLCurrent

It's not a playback problem. You can see it clearly if you download the 1080p HD version, which is actually 1080i.
    Maybe you'll see the image.

  • Cannot process on shared group from FCPX/Motion

I am using Compressor 4.1 with FCPX 10.1 on Mavericks 10.9.1.  When I share a video project to Compressor, I am unable to select the shared computer group I set up (Mac Pro Group) for processing.  The "Process on:" drop down shows my group, but it is grayed out.  I can see "Mac Pro Group" as an option, but can only select is "This Computer".  The same thing happens when sharing to Compressor with Motion 5.1.  BTW, the computer I am sharing to is 2012 iMac running the same, up to date versions of Mavericks, Compressor, and FCPX.
However, when I drag and drop a .mov file from elsewhere on my computer directly into Compressor, I can use the group I set up for processing.
**Why can't I share processing from FCPX 10.1 and Motion 5.1 using Compressor 4.1?!**
    Thanks!

Hi, In addition to the helpful posts in this thread on this commonly asked issue, a recent  post here (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5936529?tstart=0) shows where this restriction is documented by Apple  for others to also review. • Sharing FCPX via email

In the past, I've found it convenient to share a low quality clip from my timeline to a client (or colleague) via email.
I would simply set "email" as the share setting, and an email would soon open up with my clip embedded.
But, I've noticed how this doesn't work anymore.
FCPX says "it is preparing to share." Then, it pauses (always) at 50%. Then... nothing. My email program becomes unresponsive and I have to force quit mail.
This happens across a variety of projects.
Can anyone else replicate this? I'm running latest Mavericks with FCPX 10.0.9.
Admittedly, this isn't a killer, but... it's a convenient feature for me if I wish to share a quick shot or audio clip from my timeline.
    Please advise.

If it reaches 50% and then stalls, then probably the file has been exported and the problem lies in communication with Mail - as witnessed by the fact that Mail is unresponsive.
Go to the Finder and look into the Shared Files folder inside your project folder- there is likely to be a small mov file in there that is the result of your export. You can drag that to Mail and send it.

  • FCPX not sharing my project

    Hi,
Never had this problem.  Just got FCPX 10.1.3 in June.  I've edited on it a bit and haven't had any problems exporting/sharing projects.  My project i'm trying to to is 16 seconds long!  HELP!!

    Hi Russ,
I have tried to share both ways, using the File menu and the icon.  I have selected multiple choices for share i.e. ( Master File, Facebook, Youtube, Apple 1080 ) When I click on the File Menu options it clicks but nothing after wards, no warning or reason of not working, when I use the Icon it won't even let me click on the choice, it will highlight it, but won't click the option.  So basically, NOTHING is happening when I try to share.

  • I have two editors working on FCPX in two different cities. Here is the question: How can a project timeline be shared if they are working from mirrored source files?

I have two editors working on FCPX in two different cities. Here is the question: How can a project timeline be shared if they are working from mirrored source files? Is there any easy way to share a project time line?

There an episode of MacBreak Studio where Steve Martin explains exactly how to share a project, while having two separate copies of footage and events:

  • Cannot login to YouTube via FCPX 10.0.6 Sharing tool

I've tried this countless times and even after the sharing revamp contained in FCPX 10.0.6 I still cannot get it to login to my YouTube account which I now log into using my Google Account details.
Does FCPX require something more arcane such as my original Yahoo login?  If so I'm not sure I can even locate this any more.
    In appreciative anticipation...

  • Longest process in FCPX (requiring the most work from the GPU and CPU)?  Is it rendering or sharing?

Which process takes the longest in FCPX (requiring the most work from the GPU and CPU)?  Is it rendering or sharing?  I realize each machine will give different times but I'm speaking in generalities.
    Thanks!

I'm not going  to try to answer your question in generalities; just too many moving parts to take into account.
But here are three links to articles and/or videos that you may find useful.

  • FCPX Export issue. Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera

I am having issues with exporting a project I just shot and I missed my delivery day and am now late. Need help ASAP. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible and stick to the pertinent information.
The Shoot: -2 Panasonic HVX-200's shooting on P2 Media shooting a live event -Dumped footage onto external hard drive via Macbook Pro on set into separate folders for organization using a Panasonic P2 Reader. -All dumps were confirmed completed and all footage accounted for.
The System: -Using Final Cut Pro X 10.1.2 -Mac Pro Tower 2009 quad core running OSX Mavericks 16gb Ram -Blackmagic Intensity Pro Card
The Edit: -2 Camera multicam edit -Imported footage using import media function -Imported from external drive -(important note: a camera has never been connected to the computer for this project) -Edit is finished, about a 2hr 20 min finished sequence (live event 2 cameras switched in post, all graphics and everything is done)
The Problem: -When I go to export via the "Share" function i get an error that says "This Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera" -Imported footage has the camera logo in the corner meaning that it is referencing camera media; yet no camera has ever been connected.
Solutions I have tried: -Re-importing media with re-import function --Says that the camera is not connected yet I never had one connected in the first place. -Deleting preferences -Biting the bullet and starting from scratch to do a re-edit -- footage will not import without referencing "camera media" -Tried importing via dragging and dropping. Says it cannot importing the following files, lists all of the XML and MXF files -Started a new event, with a new project, with a fresh import; same results -Googled this to death, no solution seems to work, but I'll try whatever I have to; client needs this ASAP.
Questions: -The external drive is not showing up as a camera, so why is it importing as camera media? -Is there a way to salvage my edit and get it exported? I have a lot of hours into this and quite frankly, no time to redo the whole thing.
    Please help!

I have had this issue too, and figured a work around.  FYI, I rebooted, tried everything imaginable, and still no luck.  I opened up iPhoto, and imported all the video clips into iPhoto.  I then took the missing video from iPhoto, copied it to my desktop.  Then I re-imported the video (same name) into Final Cut. I had to do some slight editing of the video, but everything worked fine, and allowed me to upload the video to YouTube.
Not certain it will work for others, but to recap, try to import the video into another program, then copy the missing video file to your desktop, and re-import to Final Cut.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sharing FCPX Pro Res 422 .mov master file with both Ps and Macs

I'm using FCPX 10.1.4 on Mac OS 10.10.2. I want to put a FCPX Pro Res 422 master file on a data DVD so it can be read and poled on both a Mac and PC using Quick Time 7. I tried using Toast 12 to create a data DVD playable on both a PC and Mac but it would not open on the PC. Any ideas what the problem might be or an alternative way to do this?
    Thanks

One additional possible point of confusion: I think you wrote (or meant to write)  "so it can be read and played."
A playable DVD is a very specific standard of filenames & compression sufficient to fit a two hour movie into 4.7GB of standard def video.  Simply writing any video file onto a disc (maybe marked as "DVD-R") never creates a DVD that is playable in standard DVD players.
Given that, you can transfer any file (up to 4.7GB) by writing it onto a data "DVD" disc.  However, as others point out, ProRes isn't windows-friendly (or good for small files) and just for seeing the video on other platforms, H.264 would be the right choice.
