Sharing in iTunes - disable certain files?

Hi all,
I know iTunes allows one to check certain playlists to share, but could one exclude a few tracks, but share the rest of their library?

I am trying to USB sync Word, Excel, and PDF files between the ipod and the PC.
Pretty sure icloud has to have the internet to work, but I can try to see what USB options there are there when time permits.
Pretty sure dropbox has to have the internet to work, but I can try to see what USB options there are there when time permits.

  • How do I set  File Sharing  in iTunes to keep files up-to-date?

How do I set  File Sharing  in iTunes to keep files up-to-date?  i tried iTunes File Sharing, but the updates to the files never transferred across the USB during sync.  Tried to use Documents to Go, but the Apple behavior keeps them from syncing via USB, so when I am home and have no wifi/internet there is no way to transfer the files.  The other apps I have looked at also use wifi/internet to get around the problematic Apple behavior, so there is no way to connect via USB that I have found other than the iTunes.  Have not been able to locate any helpful information to configure the File Sharing to hotsync the files between pod and computer.

  • Why wont iTunes transfer certain files?

For example, I've downloaded some movies from iTunesU that show up as individual files (in folders) in the playlist. I can't drag or seemingly move this files. How do I get them to the phone?
    Thanks.

Check that your Computer is Authorised...

  • IPad Apps File Sharing in iTunes - files not displaying

Are you not supposed to be able to copy files to and from your computer/iPad for apps that support File Sharing in iTunes? When I open iTunes, connect iPad, click on the Apps, scroll below to File Sharing, the files on my iPad for the apps listed do not display; ie: Pages documents, Numbers documents, etc. I am running a Windows XP computer. I'm quite certain they were showing up there a few weeks ago.

You have to tell the iPad to send it to iTunes.
Open the document you want. Tap the spanner icon. Click Send to iTunes.
Now go to iTunes, find the iPad in the left hand pane, click Apps at the top, go to the bottom of the page, select pages in the box under 'File Sharing', and you will see that document there.
Pointless feature but there you go.

  • Where is the File sharing in Itunes window

Where is the File sharing in Itunes window?

Normally set in iTunes->Preferences->Sharing. However, with the paucity of details, such as computer, OS,  iTunes version, and what you're trying to do, just a WAG.

  • File sharing in iTunes can't save file as says the required file can't be found

I have an app which records video surveys (Miituu). I export the responses within the app and then use the file sharing section of iTunes to save the exported folder onto the PC so that I can access the files. However, despite the exported survey showing in iTunes in the file sharing section and displaying a MB size every time I try to 'save to...' it comes up with an error saying
'xxx' could not be copied because an error occurred. The required file could not be found'
    Any ideas?

  • Where is file sharing in iTunes 12?

Where is file sharing in iTunes 12? I used to click on the iPhone or iPad device, then select the 'apps' tab and then file sharing apps like VLC would show at the bottom. Now clicking on the device doesn't do anything.

OK, I found it. In the upper left under the menu bar are some icons. Click on the iPhone icon, then select your device, iPad, iPhone, whatever. In the far left column that appears under your device, select apps. Then you'll see apps to the right of that column. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll find the file sharing apps.

  • How can I tell iTunes to NOT convert certain files from wma format?

I just got an iPod classic, and downloaded iTunes and it automatically started adding all my music. I have almost 5000 songs that are in wma format, and it started converting them all. Then after it got almost 2000 songs finished, it just stopped. For no reason. So I tried to continue it, and apparently there is no way to just continue where it stopped. It started over at the beginning and is now re-converting all the files it already converted.
It took over 24 hours to convert those first 2000 files. It seems completely unnecessary that it should have to re-convert them all over again.
Is there any way that I can tell it NOT to convert those specific files? I figured that you should be able to right-click the file and say "DO NOT CONVERT" or something along those lines, but that is not an option.
The only other way I've been able to figure out that I could do this is to manually add only the files that it didn't convert last time. But that is over 3000 files, and they are not in the same order on my hard drive that they are on in iTunes so I would never be able to figure out what files were done and what files were not done.
There HAS to be a way to just highlight certain files and tell iTunes NOT to convert them. Hasn't there?
Someone please help me. This is really irritating, and I do not feel like waiting for another 3 days for this to finish. I have other things I need to do on my computer, and it seems that while iTunes is converting, it is making everything else very slow.
    Thank you.

I know they need to be converted, but the problem is, 2000 of the 5000 have already been converted. now it's trying to convert them again. but there is no reason for that. i want to know how to convert the other files that weren't converted yet, without having to re-convert the ones that were already done.
I would move the ones that were done to a separate folder, but I don't know exactly what ones were done. In iTunes, they are the first 2000 or so in the list, but on my hard drive they are not in the same order.
Does anyone else know if there's a way to do this?

  • Sharing certain files

I am pretty new to using networks and am wondering how can I share certain files but have others inaccessible? I am under the impression that once Personal File Sharing is turned on then ALL files are accessible; is this accurate? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The easiest way to share only specific files with other users is to use the Shared folder located in the Users folder (/Users/Shared/.) Any files dropped there can be accessed and changed by any other user on the computer.

  • TS2972 I keep getting "turn on home sharing in iTunes" when I try to access my library. If I got the pc and disable / enable it works for a while. It promptly returns.

I only noticed this issue when I added a second apple tv to my network last night.
I keep getting the error message "turn on home sharing in iTunes". This is already enabled however i have to keep disabling this and then re-enabling it to get it to work.  This solution is short lived as this error returns randomly within an hour.
I believe apple have introduced a bug with the last iTunes release.
It's very annoying....I would love to  know who tested this rubbish at apple !!

  • STILL can't disable SMB file sharing because of incorrect password error

    Hi Everybody,
A few weeks ago, there was a thread at
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3211072
I'm having the same issue, and it's a real security problem, since I have no way of turning off file sharing for a user account.
The thread discussed the inability to disable SMB file sharing because Lion returned an incorrect password error message for the shared account -- even when the user typed in the correct password. A user named SanderFromH offered a fix at
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16773220#16773220
It involves locating and copying the file at /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/<user>.plist
Is this the only way people know to fix this issue, or has anyone found an easier way? If no, can someone please tell me how to locate this file. When I search spotlight for a directory called dslocal, I find nothing. Can someone please provide step by step instructions for fixing this issue?
    Thanks so much.

Hi, and welcome to the community!
So was this Spotify account originally created with facebook and not created with Spotify then linked to facebook? It sounds like it if you login with an email.
Can you log in on the Spotify web player?

  • Itunes and Ipod skips certain files

Itunes has decided that it doesn't want to play certain files in my library that have worked before. It will get partway through a track, stop playing and freeze my computer for a few minutes until it decides to just skip to the next track, and everything is okay until it hits another one it doesn't like.
It also won't let me transfer all of my music to my ipod. It stops when it hits those files that it doesn't like, so I have to keep going manually.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, but it didn't help. I'm using the same mp3's I always have that worked before.

The error I get when I try to synch my ipod is (-69)
