Sharing Internet from MBk Pro to MacBook using Verizon Novatel Card to Arpt

I have a Verizon Broadband Access Card. In the past, I have successfully shared my internet access from my MacBookPro to my MacBook by setting up the sharing preferences - from Novatel Wireless (Pro) card to Airport (MacBook). The problem now is that the MacBook shows that it is connected to the Pro via Airport (full airport bars), but the MacBook internet page won't open - says it's not connected to the internet. Diagnostics, however, says it is connected. Anyone have this problem? Is this something to do with the Verizon card suddenly?

Firewall is (and has been) off on the Pro. Under Preferences, Sharing pane, are you referring to the Services tab? If so, I have tried the Personal Web Sharing (though I think that's for my own websites) and that doesn't make a difference to the connection. All of the services boxes are unchecked (off). Any other thoughts? I appreciate your help.

the problem is that trying to make it work i deleted the "profile" usb iphone on the network prefereces panel. Now i only have 3 options: ethernet / wifi / bluetooth
but not the usb iPhone i used to have.
And when i try to add a new one i dont get a USB option.
can some one help me please??

Need help sharing internet connection between pc and mac using airport

I have a PC with an internal modem that connects to the internet via 3g+. it's got wi-fi as my macbook.
i want to share the internet connection of the pc via wifi (using what is called an "ad hoc" connection ( a pc to pc network)) so that the mac can connect to the pc (via wifi) and use its internet connection.
i've already tried a bunch of things but they don't work, can someone help me or tell me where i can find a GOOD guide to do this? (i've already looked around but i haven't found anything that works)

Hi. I'm not sure if this helps, but I just found a nice way to do it the other ways around (share the internet from your mac with your pc).

Specifically, step 4 and 6 are crucial!:
1. In Mac OS X, enable Internet Sharing to computers using Airport
2. In AirPort Options, select 128-bit WEP encryption and enter a 13-character password
3. In Windows, add a new wireless network
4. Enter the SSID and select WEP encryption with Shared Network Authentication (not Open)
5. Uncheck “The key is provided automatically” and enter the 13-character password
6. In the Authentication tab, be sure that “Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication” is unchecked
The main idea is that MAC-WEP and PC-WEP are not quite the same, so this tweak makes them line up. Perhaps you can do it the other way around from PC to MAC by sort of reversing the idea?

To expand on Meg's answer -
Verizon does not allow you to use a phone on their network unless it was originally sold by them. You can't bring a phone from another carrier and just pick up a SIM card and start using the phone on Verizon.
I believe the same holds true for Sprint, and possibly other carriers as well.
AT&T and T-Mobile allow you to use any unlocked phone, though, so those are both options if you are traveling to the US.

I am going on a trip to Europe and want to use Verizon service there, so people can call me on my US Verizon number, but I don't want to upgrade my phone to a global Verizon phone. Unfortunately, the sat phone is not an option for me. I believe it's very expensive. Also not sure if I can get roaming data this way, specifically $25 per 100MB package.
I want to use iPhone 4S (factory unlocked GSM version, bought from Apple store). The frequencies should not be a problem, since it supports all GSM frequencies.
My main concern - even if Verizon gives me a micro SIM and associates it with my account, will it work in non-Verizon iPhone 4S while in Europe? A representative told me Verizon possibly ties the SIM to a particular phone (normally Verizon world phone). If such a SIM is used in another phone, the registration may fail due to that restriction. The rep was not sure though, that's why posting it here.

Sharing internet from macbook pr

I have a sprint wireless card for my internet connected to the express slot in my MBP. Previously, I turned on internet sharing in the system preferences and shared from my express card to ethernet. The ethernet would connect to the wan port on the AEBS. I would set up the base station just like as if it were connected to a modem from an ISP. it was set to share a single ip address. The only thing I would have to do is ignore "double nat". Now, with the time capsule, no matter how I try and configure it, I can not get it to share the connection from my MBP to my pc or apple tvs. I have the new update and still does not work.

When you enable Internet Sharing, the Mac doing the Sharing activates a simple Router in software and provides IP Addresses via DHCP.
It is simple, but elegant, and in typical Apple fashion, "it just works".

Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.

On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.

Sharing Internet with windows, connected by ethernet, using mac's airport

So I have a desktop that doesn't have Wi-Fi and I too cheap to buy anything for it. So I'm trying to use the MacBook's airport to give the Windows internet through the ethernet connecting them both.
I went to internet sharing and entered "Share connection from: Airport" "To computers using: ethernet." and that's all I got up to so far.

Now connect the two computers via an Ethernet Cable and you should have internet access on the PC.
Make sure you set up the PC to use the Ethernet port for network / internet use.

I have a Mac Pro running Mavericks 10.9 and a Macbook Air also running 10.9. I have set up a very detailed set of rules for organizing my incoming email on my Mac Pro that I would also like to use on my Macbook Air.
Details:
Mac Pro - Mavericks 10.9
Macbook Air - Mavericks 10.9
Application - Apple Mail
Mail setting use IMAP on both machines
iCloud used to sync everything else on both machines
Is there a way to copy the mail rules I have set up on my Mac Pro to my Macbook Air?

I checked iCloud "Documents & Data" / Options and I see Preview and iMovie in there but nothing about Mail.
Do step by step instructions exist anywhere? Seems like a handy feature in Mavericks but I can't find a peep about it.

From Mac Pro to Macbook and back, round-trip help (new user)

I've searched a bit, but honestly I'm not sure yet what I'm searching for exactly so please excuse this post if it's been explained previously.
Picked up Aperture a few days ago, reading, learning the tutorials, loving it... I wanted to make sure I'm doing this right from the get-go.
I made a new project with an album and book inside. I've been editing the images and now need to travel with them so I can show my father how his shots are coming along... and also proudly show off what Aperture can do! I need to figure out the best way to transfer these images over to my Macbook, work on them on the road, then when I come back overwrite or sync back to my Mac Pro. (There's no need to continually keep them synced).
Someone willing to point me in the right direction?

If it's just a single Project, the easiest is to:
1. Export the Project from your Mac pro.
2. Import the project into Aperture on your MBP.
3. Do all your on-the-road stuff.
4. When you come back, export the Project from the MBP and copy to the Mac pro.
5. Import the project on the Mac pro and delete the 'old' copy of the Project from within Aperture.

Title is descriptive I think. Stuck on windows on my desktop because I did a thing and don't feel like fixing it yet
I used ICS but the laptop couldn't access the internet and I read someplace that it only works between a windows client and host, and I couldn't find how to do it between a windows host and linux client of any sort.
If it's relevant I'm using a regular yellow ethernet cable (forget which one that one is) and my desktop has a gigabit ethernet card.

More details of your doing and targetted answers will be the result.
Modern NICs don't need cross cable, the NIC will detect and self adjust the connection. If one of the two PS is less modern then you need a cross CAT5 cable.
