The Social Media albums are attached to the library that created them. So step 2 works. Yes you can rename libraries.
The way you're splitting the Library destroys the non-destructive editing feature of iPhoto and, depending on a: what you've done in iPhoto and b: the exact export settings you are using, risks significant dataloss. If you must split the library (and deal with all those inconveniences) use iPhoto Library Manager to do it, and preserve all your versions and data.
For the sake of others who may read this: iPhoto can only open or search one Library at a time. That's just one of the inconveniences of multiple libraries. An iPhoto Library can contain up to 1,000,000 million items

Splitting iPhoto library and social media

Greetings,
I am in the process of breaking up my gargantuan iPhoto library into smaller libraries, by year (this scheme works perfectly fine for me). However, I ran into a problem last night which I would like not to repeat. Starting with all of the photos from 2013, I had exported all of them out of iPhoto.photolibrary into folders on my desktop. Then, I had created "2013 iPhoto Library" and mass-imported all the files from the desktop. When I was satisfied that I had everything I wanted, I both securely deleted the desktop files and also the albums from within iPhoto. However, when I started doing the latter, they began removing themselves from Facebook. It makes sense, but it's an undesirable side effect.
Since I plan on doing this reorganization at the end of each year, I obviously don't want to keep this from happening, i.e. I'd like to leave my albums which take me a great amount of time to put together for sharing on Facebook in place so that they don't get removed. My proposed solution is something like the following:
1. Continue the process all the way back to 2005 and before (since I hate to have a disconnect with last year's albums gone but none of the others deleted, I might as well delete them all from my Facebook).
2. Leave 2014's photos in "iPhoto Library" (thus leaving my photos still connected to my Facebook albums.
3. When 2015 rolls around, rename "iPhoto Library" to "2014 iPhoto Library" and create a new "iPhoto Library" (hoping such a name change is permissible).
4. Repeat 2. and 3. every year.
Can anyone tell me if this is a recommended solution, or if this will/won't work? My main concern is that "iPhoto Library" is somehow special and has to be left as-is, i.e. I can't rename it, or have a new file called "iPhoto Library" which might corrupt something

JavaScript error in IE8 with shared iPhoto Journals

I like iPhoto for iOS a lot: soo easy to build and design photo journals.
BUT: when I publish iPhoto Journals in iCloud and share the link to with others, they tell me they cannot see anything else than the headline and the background pattern... no pictures.
In Safari on iOS devices I have no issues to see the Journal. Same for Windows PCs with Google Chrome browser.
But when I use Internet Explorer 8 browser, the Journal stops loading after the background image is shown.
And the small javascript error indicator tells that IE8 stopped loading/rendering due to JavaScript issues within the JS-code of the page.
As I have no influence on JavaScript of the shared Journals, I would urgently like Apple to test and fix the issue.
Also in iOS Safari with enabled Debug Console the JavaScript errors are specified...

Getting iTunes sharing error when trying to share iPhoto journals?

I am trying to get information from my iPad onto my macair. I have about 12 iPhoto journals on the iPad I am trying to export to the mac as html files.
I successfully did 3, but now I am getting an iTunes sharing error, it says ''there is not enough space left on this device to share all of the selected items''.
I know the iPad is full and I am trying to move all the files to free up space. My first step was to move the journals then I plan to move all the underlying photos and albums from my recent overseas trip, mostly stored in iPhoto and camera roll.
I have the iPad connected via usb. I would have thought this was a straight data transfer? Or is it using iCloud in some way as I know that is at capacity also.
Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me... I only had to reset the iTunes cache
1) Open iTunes
2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.

Button Scripts for Sharing on Social Media

I need sharing scripts for social media buttons (Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, FaceBook). For example, hovering over a button produces a tool tip ‘Share this site on Google+’ and clicking the button pops up a login window, or similar.
Anyone has good and simple scripts?

I found button scripts right here in the Adobe Developer Connection Cookbooks http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Simple_social_networking_share_buttons-19482.html
However, there is a bug: Google Chrome displays a LinkedIn pop up with an editable field. I tried to report the bug in a comment to the article, but I got a 'server communication error' message.
Anyone knows how to report the bug, or fix the bug?

Sharing flv or swf to social media sites

Hi all... I am researchign some solutions for building a new flash video player that will allow me to share the actual video on social media sites like Facebook. What I'd like as far as UX is for the user to be able to watch the vidoe on my site, the click a button to share it on a site like Facebook... and then on Facebook, I'd like the video to actually show up, in the same way a vidoe shows up if you post a YouTube video there. It's viewable on Facebook, and it's not a link to go back to the site webpage that contains the flv video.
I'm still working in AS2, that's why I'm posting in this forum. This might also have to be resolved elsewhere like in the page language (asp, cfm, etc.), or through Facebook (FBML).
Any suggestions?

To determine what project preset was set, one approach is to read the Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and its Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio fields even if they look grayed out. From those readings, you can reason back to what was set in the new project dialog for the project preset.
To get to the project presets yourself, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Properties button in the New Project dialog. At that point - before you hit Change Settings button in the New Project dialog, the New Project dialog may (not always) display the project preset for the last project. If any problems in this regard, just tell me the readings in the Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, and I will interpret them for you.
Based on what you wrote....Project Settings DV Pal and Video Render Microsoft AVI DV Pal, your project could be set for PAL DV Standard or PAL DV Widescreen. The Pixel Aspect Ratio in Project Settings/General would give us our answer.
Also, are you saying that the same Premiere Elements Timeline in the same project can upload to Vimeo successfully but not YouTube? What is the file size and duration for that Timeline video as reflected at the bottom of the Premiere Elements YouTube export area?
Please let us know if you have more questions on this or need clarification.

Sharing Content App built Visualization in Excel via email and social media

We are looking for office.js tool we can use to share a visualization, created within a Content App in Excel. Currently, the Content App has a function called "Save As Image". We would then want to share that Content App visualization through Email,
and Social Media. Is the a function within Office.js we can use and how can we do it?

Can you please show an example (website/ image link or something else) or explain more detailed what you mean?
Do you just want to send an image via mail?
If yes, you have multiple possibilities:
1. Insert a link as text in the mail (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn574748(v=office.15).aspx)
2. Insert image as HTML content (<img>-Tag) in the mail (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn574748(v=office.15).aspx)
3. Add image as attachement (https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/dn568061(v=office.15).aspx)
Recently I experienced some issues with option 2. Due to a sanitization process outlook seems to modify the html code I inserted which leads to problems (see this thread:

Replacement for iPad iPhoto journal

We used to use the iPhoto journal to publish pictures so friends and family could track our travels. It was a great feature that focused on pictures (with the odd bit of text) and gave us lots of control about how the pictures were presented. It also worked offline very well and allowed us to publish and share a link when we got an Internet connection.
With iOS 8 iPhoto has gone and we I can't find a good replacement.
iOS Photos shared albums seems to like a good internet connection and doesn't give much controls about ordering and reordering the pictures in the posts.
Day One looks nice, but is too date focused, the publishing doesn't look too great.
Wordpress seems to want an Internet connection to upload media and seems a bit techie.
Has anyone got any suggestions on an alternative please?

I can no longer publish iPhoto Journals to iCloud

I have succesfully published and shared many iPhoto Journals to iCloud over the last few months. This was my main reason for purchasing the App.
It no longer works, I just get a spinning wheel and the perpetual indication that the journal is uploading. I have checked my iCloud storage space and have over 4GB of space so that's not the problem. I keep the iPad and Apps up to date. I have also tried deleting iPhoto from the iPad and starting over.
Any ideas or is this a known bug that requires an Apple update in the future?

I have since received AppleCare's advice:
Backup then restore iPad as new.
This worked, albeit a rather frustrating and unelegant solution.

Upload photos to Social Media

Since installing Yosemite - I take a picture on my iPhone; share it to an album on iCloud (doesn't do this automatically); retrieve it to my Photo app and save it to an album there. When I go to Facebook or other Social Media to upload the photo to that site - it doesn't appear in finder under photos - old pictures are there - just nothing I have taken with my iPhone since "upgrading" to Yosemite. I've looked in all the drop down windows under the folder "Photos" Yes I can upload via the iPhone, but want to do that from my Mac.
Please help me here - this is very frustrating!!

Where do iPhoto Journals show up in iTunes and how do I share them?

Playing with iPhoto for IOS today.
I created a basic test journal and tried to share it via iTunes.
But I have no idea where in iTunes it shows up .... I can't find it.
Anyone know where it goes or how to access a shared iTunes journal ?

Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Have you updated from 12 to 12.1 Update? If not, please do so, using a project's Help Menu/Update.
When you go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime, do you find presets for the QuickTime choice? If so, what are they?
Go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Web Sharing and refresh the Online Services?
Next, if problem not resolved...delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.

and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then we delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path. In Windows 8.1, I believe that the path to Folder Options starts with File Explorer.
Please review and consider and then let us know if any of the above works for you. More later.

Will iPhoto journals created on iPhone 5 be also accessible on my Mac iPhoto?

I have just returned from a trip where I created iPhoto journals on my iPhone 5.
(I have been storing in iCloud as well).
I expected that I can access the journals from my Mac on my return but I'm not sure how do do this?Can any clever person help me with this?

iPhoto on your Mac cannot create Journals - you can sync the photos from your iPhone to iPhoto on your mac; you can share your "My Photo Stream" and your "Shared Photo Streams" as albums to your mac.
But if you want to view your Journals as journals like on your iPhone publish your journals to your homepage (iPhoto for iOS (iPad): Share your journal as a webpage) and invite yourself to view them. Then you can browse the journals on your mac by viewing the homepage.
