Sharing motion projects on two computers??

Having FCS on both my MBP and iMac.
I have created a Motion project on my MBP and now want to continue working it on my iMac. Where is the equivalent of "File >> Media Manager" within Motion? I want to bring over the .motn file and all the related media objects.
Best practices anyone?
TIA
-Steven

When you save, you can tell Motion to include all media used... look for the collect media checkbox.

Hello, I have two questions on time capsule  I can only have it on my external hd files and free up my internal memory to my mac  I can use an external hard drive, in my case a lacie rugged as shared memory for my two computers

I have a mackbook pro and an iMac if I buy a time capsule 2tb airport, I can use it with time machine and what would be the best way to use it.
There is no particular setup required for TM.. both computers will create their own backup sparsebundle which is like a virtual disk.. Pondini explains the whole thing if you read the reference I gave you.
and how to use time capsule airport whit other external hd to use my old lacie airport with the new time capsule
Up to you.. you can plug the external drive into the TC and enjoy really slow file transfers or you can plug it into your computer and use it as external drive.. which is faster than the TC.. and TM can include it in the backup.
Again everything is explained in the reference.. you are not reading it.

What is the best workflow for the following--
I have a project where I want to do some work on my laptop, then work on the desktop, then back to the laptop?
As a video guy, in Final Cut I do this by having two identical copies of my media, and simply transferring the FCP project file back and forth between the two computers.
Is there an equivalent in Aperture of transferring your selections/edits between two copies of Apeture with the original master files on both in identical projects?

I don't know what you mean by "bandwidth options". If you mean the frequencies and bands the iPad can use with cell carriers, those are listed in the Wireless and Cellular area of the tech specs. For iPads sold in the US, see:
    http://www.apple.com/ipad-mini/specs/
If that's not what you meant, please post back and clarify what you mean by "bandwidth options".

  • Syncing a project between two computers

I just got a new MacBook which I use when I travel every week. I have a project that I started at home on my 24" iMac. When I'm at home I would like to continue using the iMac because of the big screen. However I would still like to work on the project when I have time on the road.
So the question is "Is is possible to copy / sync a whole project with clips between two computers and be able to go back and forth between the computers?" I realize I might have to copy the whole file.
Better yet is there a way to keep the project on an external drive and use iMovie on each computer to open up and work on the project.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Yes this is possible.
First, make sure your external drive is formatted as MacOS (journalled) or HFS+ (journalled)
Go into iMovie and from the Project list, drag your project to the External Drive by dragging the project name to the icon for the external drive in the project list in iMovie.
Now select File/Consolidate Media and choose Move (not copy). Everything will be consolidated to the external drive where the project is. You can open it on another Mac.
See the iMovie Help for further details.

  • Sharing Motion projects between versions

I've tried to search for it but didn't find something about it.Is it possible to share a Motion project between users that have different versions of Motion (1.0.1, 2, 2.1.1) and if so how should it be exported?

AFAIK, Motion 1 and 2 can share projects, the only problem arises when a project contains effects/behaviors not available in Motion 1 or maybe renamed between Motion 1 and 2.
But I've honestly not done sharing - the Fun With... that I post are always saved from Motion 2. In theory any that don't use the Replicator or new filters/behaviors should work in Motion 1... perhaps someone running Motion 1 will answer.
I recently posted that Gas Sign project specifically not using Motion 2 constructs, but that guy never posted back...

  • How to Share Dropbox folder of Pr CS6 project between two computers

I have one computer that has a dropbox folder and project as c:\dropbox\prproject\proj1 and another computer with z:\dropbox\prproject\proj1
When I open the project for the first time on the second computer, some of the assets are there and some are not.  I want to be able work on computer 1 for a while, close it, go home, then continuje to work on computer 2, close the project, then go back to computer 1 the next day.
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

Yes, thanks for asking. I do have a solution.  My directory structure on the two computers is quite different so making them the same so I can work with  the same premier project is awkward. I was just hoping I would not have to go through that for each project.  To me, it's like telling us that we can not move the project from one computer to another unless the directory below the relative path is identical.  I would have thought a sophisticated product like Adobe Premiere would have a better way to handle that.
Say for example I send a project to a colleague who does not have the same name as me and has something like "elena/mydocs" instead of peter/mydocs.  Seems like we would be stuck then.

  • Sharing aperture library between two computers in same house

How do I go about sharing the same library between two computers in the same house? I would like to take some or all photos around with me on my laptop and be able to have them also at home for use by my family. Will I have trouble with changes and keeping things in sync? Would I locate the library on a portable drive on our home network? Thanks,
    Todd

    cut and dry ???
are you wanting to constantly move the external around from machine to machine ??? or are you looking for simultaneous access ???
if you had a library on an external and moved it between computers, it could work ... just be careful to always have the external connected before starting aperture, else it will create a new null library for you ...
you could have db issues if you tried to have two people access it at once ... i dont believe that the aperture db could handle multi access at once ... not robust enough ... no locking of records, etc ...

  • Sharing a project between two Macs?

Is it possible to share an un-finished iMovie project between two different Macs?
    And if yes, how?
And is it possible to share an iMovie 08' project with an iMovie 09' project?
Thank you for your help :'D

    Hi
I think an intermediat external hard disk
    • FireWire
    • Mac OS Extended formatted (MUST BE)
Storing material and project on this should make it "Share-ably" but not
in same time of-course. One at a time.
    and
    • iMovie'09 on both Macs (I would go for exactly same version no. and same regarding
    QuickTime and it's version no.)
(Heart of iLife and FinalCut it's the real motor doing the job. iMovie is just an interface to it.)

  • Sharing mouse/ keyboard with two computers

I have a bluetooth wireless Apple keyboard. I want to be able to push a button so I can switch between the two computers? They are within the same range of one another.

  • Is it possible to Sync logic projects between two computers?

    Hi All,
I've never had to do this before, but now I have two Macs running Logic Pro (X).  As stated above, how would I go about syncing projects?  I use Dropbox to sync some data from apps back and forth, and it works pretty well, but that seems impractical with the large file sizes.  (Not that I've written it out, but I'm just sayin...)  There's no iCloud support, right?  Okay, and if this a repeat question, my apologies.

If the two Macs are on the same network.. Use a shared network drive to store and access everything?
There is no iCloud support.. I'm guessing simply because of the size of files that would be stored up there.. which would in essence, have the same issues as using Dropbox would..

  • IWeb projects from two computers. How do I combine onto one machine.

    Hi,
I have been working on five sites in total. Three of them were satrted on my iMac G5 and recently I have just started two more but on my new MacBookPro.
They are all published, but I now want to combine all of the projects onto my MacBookPro. After some research it seems that iWeb saves one file called Domain in the iWeb folder. I can't have two Domian files in the same folder (one replaces the other)
Question is, how do I combine all of my iWeb projects together into one Domain file?
    Any help appreciated.
    Keith

I was wondering the same thing, for the same
reason...it sounds as if the separate domain files
must be maintained separately [maybe in separately
named folders in AppSupport/iWeb? and then just
switch between the separate folders to be able to
edit on one machine....but then be careful when you
do an Announce, because it'll only send
http://web.mac.com/nameofuser to the people and it
might open up Site #2 and not the one you sent,
    right??
This is the reason there are applications like iWebSites (http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/) that help you to switch in and out different domain files. With multiple sites, you must specify the longer URL in order to get people to the specific site. I don't think the Announce email function is really up to snuff in this regard.
Any easy way to cure this issue of being able to
easily announce Site 2 to some and Site 3 to others?
without visiting sites and sending the LONG link????
    that's inelegant.
See my post to you about subdomain forwarding in this thread...

  • Can I edit one project on two computers with external drive and two copies of software?

I have two copies of premiere elements. One on IMac and one on Macbook. Video files on external drive. I want to be able to edit same project on both. I originally started the project on macbook but IMac doesn't see the exsisting project.  Can I do this? thanks for the help

    jazziegirl
    Thanks for the follow up.
The matter of the sign in/trial version has happened to me from time to time with Premiere Elements (I worked with Windows). I supply
the requested information and that usually takes care of that message for a long while.
What is the status of the issue now with the MacBook Pro to iMac projects? Is that matter restricted to just one project from MacBook Pro to iMac?
If so, on this particular one, did you try the Project Archiver/Copy Project workflow in MacBook Pro?
As for the error message...I am not a Mac user, and consequently I am not sure I am interpreting the following correctly. But take a look to see if any of it applies

  • Editing same project on two computers

Sorry if this is elementary but I would appreciate advice.
I am cutting a project on my desktop. I did about 25% of it. I then transferred the project (all the files) to my laptop and cut some more when I was out of town. I did some new voice over on the project while cutting on my laptop.
I am now going back home and want to resume cutting on my desktop.
What files/folders do I have to transfer back to my desktop to keep on editing my latest cut? Do I just transfer the FCP file, and the folders marked Audio Render, Autosave Vault, Render Files, Thumbnail Cache Files, and Waveform Cache Files from my laptop and use these to replace the old ones on my desktop?
I'm using the same version of FCP 6 on both machines.
    Thanks.

The main thing you'll need to do is keep similar folder structures on both macs, transferring new/updated files as needed. That will help make reconnecting easier when passing the project file back and forth.
I normally save my project files to my Dropbox, which eases the process of moving project files between multiple machines on different networks.

  • Moving Motion Projects Between Computers

My apologies, as I'm sure this must have been answered elsewhere - however I can't find the answer, so:
I'm moving a Motion project between two computers (Project file & media ) - I can do this easily with Final Cut Projects (you just relink the files) however - even when I "relink" the files in my Motion project - my timeline remains empty (unlike FCP, which will show the files):
What's the best technique to move Motion files between computers?
    Thanks In Advance

Good tip actually - but sadly, it isn't working that way!
I don't get it - could there be anything I'm doing wrong in the transfer/copy procedure? Is there some way I can change the mapping/references in the preferences from absolute to relative to the files?
    Thanks in advance
G5 & MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.9) I actually use the thing

  • Imovie 09: Same Project on 2 computers?

Is there a way to move the same project between two computers assuming you have the exact same "event footage" loaded on either the internal hard drive of each or on a shared external?
From what I understand, all iMovie does is create an instruction set -- not a pixel is altered in the event footage. If that's true, can I move that instruction set back and forth between two computers?
Is it the file in Movies>iMovie Projects>(file name)?
    Thanks for the help.

Be sure to do all moves within iMovie.
The easiest way would be to have an external drive. The external drive must be formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled).
In iMovie, click VIEW/EVENTS BY DISK. You should see your external drive show up in the Event Library and the Project Library.
Command-Drag your Project to the external drive icon in the Project Library List. Then select the Project in the Project Library List and click FILE/Consolidate Media. It should offer to move all Events, Photos, Music that are used in the Project to the external drive as well, and it will update the pointers in the Project File.
Now, you can open the Project on the external drive on both computers, and all project assets are in a stable location.
