Sharing music across Apple IDs

Background: Three person family (husband, wife, daughter) using a single Apple ID to purchase music for iTunes on Windows. Our daughter got her first iPhone (sweet 16) and setup her own Apple ID (Apple ID#2) using her own debit card, and we'd like her to "own" the music she previously purcahsed under our Apple ID (Apple ID#1).
So I have two questions
1) Can we transfer "ownership" of selected songs from our Apple ID#1 to her new Apple ID#2?
2) Can we co-mingle the two libraries on our iTunes WIndows library (family PC) so that we can play all the music on the PC, and she can sync her music to her iPhone (Apple ID#2), and we can sync our music to our iPods (Apple ID#1)?

That is a settable option. Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and make sure that "Copy files..." is not checked. Then, when a file is added to the library, iTunes will reference the existing file without making a new copy.

Will family sharing allow multiple Apple IDs to backup to the same Mac?

So currently, my family shares one Apple ID so we can share purchases. We also share the same iCloud account. I think that technically you can share one Apple ID for purchases and use multiple iCloud accounts, but that seems confusing.
Anyway, so my wife is getting a new iPhone soon and would like it if we didn't see each other's podcasts in the Podcasts app, etc, so I'm wondering if, now that we have family sharing coming, it would be a good idea for her to get her own Apple ID. However, we have one "Master iMac" that serves to backup all the iDevices in our home and has our shared family library of music, movies, etc. If she gets her own Apple ID, will she still be able to back her new iPhone up to this iMac or will she be forced to use her iCloud account for her phone's backup? iTunes on the iMac uses the current Apple ID, which we all share.
Apple IDs have consistently been the single most frustrating thing for us and the approach for sharing one ID has worked well. I wish Apple had come out with Family Sharing years ago. Anyway, now I want to make the transition as painless as possible.

Home Sharing with different Apple IDs

My wife and I have separate apple IDs and separate user accounts on our MAC. We have it set up this way because we each have our own iphones and don't want to be syncing each other's stuff (music, photos, apps) with icloud. Of course, sometimes you want to share music with each other. Home sharing makes it easy when you use the same apple id but we have separate accounts. I can play her songs using Home Sharing but I can't drag and drop the files into my library--which I assume is because of the different IDs. So my question is there an easy way for me to "copy" or "move" songs she has purchased to my music library? Any suggestions for the best way to keep things separate but still be able to share easily? You need to use the same Apple ID on each device on your home network.

Family sharing with multiple apple ids

Just a question about family sharing. My husband and I have decided to have separate apple ids but family sharing allows us to share purchases but does this also include iCloud storage or do we each have 5GB. Also if we do this route with our son what happens to his purchases we've approved when he decides he doesn't want to be on family sharing when he's 18.

Each Apple ID has it's own 5 GB of iCloud Storage
Once you son turns 18, if he decides to leave the Family Sharing, any purchases made with his Apple ID will remain his and no longer available to the family.

What happens to your content when you stop sharing?
When you leave Family Sharing, your Apple ID is removed from the family group, and you stop sharing music, movies, TV shows, books, and apps with any remaining family members. Can Home Sharing service two Apple IDs at once?

We have two Apple IDs, so some of our music and movies in iTunes have been purchased with one ID, and some with the other. I'm setting up Home Sharing, and want to make sure that all the music and movies will be available to us at all times.
Am I correct in the following assumption? If Home Sharing is turned on to my account on both iTunes and the iPad, I'll be able to access ALL the music and movies, and if Home Sharing is turned on to my wife's account on both iTunes and iPad, we'll also be able to access everything exactly the same?
Is there any drawback here to having two accounts?

It's true that a wireless adapter (e.g. airport extreme card) can only join one network at a time since it has a single radio. But if you got, for instance, a wifi USB dongle then you could use this to connect to a second network. Disclaimer: I've not tested this configuration myself. But having multiple active network interfaces is certainly supported so I expect it to work.

Need advice on how to best approach Family Sharing, multiple devices, Apple IDs, etc.

My wife and I both have iPhone 5's (soon to be 6's) running iOS 8, I have an iPad (v2) running iOS 8, and my wife just got a MacBook Air (running Mavericks, soon to be Yosemite). We also have Apple TV (v2) running the latest OS. That's five Apple devices shared between a husband and wife (not counting my two-year-old's unsupported iPhone 4 used for kid games).
We have always just used the same Apple ID for everything. However, things are changing fast. We have both upgraded to iOS 8, we will soon be getting iPhone 6's, she now has a MacBook Air that will soon support Continuity, and we will purchase iCloud Drive storage for our iPhone 6's to free up photo/video storage space from our phones. We need to rethink and reorganize how we manage these devices because my wife does not want my email, iMessages, contacts, or Safari bookmarks showing up on her new MacBook, but she would like to use the upcoming Continuity feature.
In the perfect world, we would like the following: We would like to have separate: 1) email, 2) iMessages, 3) contacts, 4) Safari bookmarks, and 5) photos/videos. But we would like to have access to: 1) each others' backed up photos and videos stored on the new iCloud Drive, 2) iTunes, App Store, and iBooks Store purchases, and 3) a shared family calendar.
Right now, using the same Apple ID on all five devices, we are able to successfully do all of the above by setting up different email accounts on each device, by designating different phone numbers and email addresses on each device, etc. However, when my wife set up her new MacBook Air this morning, she told it to import Contacts from the Apple ID, but it looks like it imported everything from an old iCloud backup of my device. How can my wife totally integrate and sync her own iPhone and MacBook Air without getting the bookmarks, contacts, etc. from my iPhone? Is there a way to do this, whether through same/different Apple IDs, the new Family Sharing mechanism, or a combination of both? Any considerations or advice that I am not thinking of?

Home sharing between 2 Apple IDs

My wife has her library on her Macbook Air & recently purchased an album from iTunes that I'd like also. My library is on my MBP & we both have our own Apple IDs. Is it possible for her to share this album with me?

That depends on what you have used her new ID for.
If you've used it for iCloud she can now keep her mail, contacts etc private, but if you keep using the same ID as she has done previously for iTunes and homesharing, your music, apps etc can still be used by both of you.

I have been reading threadsabout managing content across multiple devices, using different IDs, both AppleIDs and Cloud IDs, and there is a LOT of confusion. I'm visual, so I've attached the graphic illustrating how I "think" I should proceed. **I have not set up the new iPhone yet.
We do not have a Mac or a".me email" account, and we use Gmail.

I have the computer authorized to use the Apple ID content (been using iTunes since 2007).
My issue is I cannot create sperate iCloud IDs for each device. I get prompted/directed to create a new Apple ID, which is what I want to avoid. I want to use one "FAMILY" AppleID as it is, and use iCloud IDs for each device.
My logic is: ALL my purchases are tied to an AppleID, and I just want to share on devices that leave the house, like another iPhone.
So- what to do? How to get a seperate iCloud ID without a seperate AppleID? I have an iPhone & iPad, husband has an iTouch & iPhone. How to share selectively? All devices were originally setup using one Cloud ID and one Apple ID. Now I need new IDs to represent the new user on the iTouch & iPhone.

I have my own Apple ID for iCloud stuff, email, etc., and the other family member has her personal ID, plus we have an old Apple ID of mine that is used as a shared ID for purchases. That is, I have [email protected] as my personal ID [not the real ID, just an example], she has [email protected], and we share the old [email protected], and we use that last ID for iTunes, App Store, and Mac App Store purchases. That way we can both download music, apps and book using the same ID and share them across all 5 devices. This was set up for us at an Apple store and has worked well - it is an old way of doing family sharing.
Questions:
1. Is there any good reason to switch over to the new Family Sharing setup instead of just keeping this?
2. If I do switch to the new Family Sharing, would I use my newer [email protected] as the primary, or keep this old .mac ID? Or does it matter?
3. If I do switch to the newer [email protected], would we lose all my old purchases made with the old .mac ID?

Sharing music across different accounts on the same PC

I've got an iPod Classic with 12G of music, all from CD's. It is on iTunes on my account on my PC. I had a 8G iTouch for Xmas. I have opened another account on my PC and downloded iTunes. How can I transfer selected music from my original account to my new one?

I also don't understand why you'd open another itunes store account. Now you are going to forever have to keep track of 2 login credentials, and deal with hassles that multiple accounts sometimes present.
You can share music between 2 windows user accounts using these directions. Just be forewarned, if you move things to a shared folder in Windows Explorer, your original itunes will lose the paths to the music. Move it to the shared folder using itunes consolidate command.

But each of us using a personal iTunes account - we don't share credit cards! So, when somebody wants to use the TV one has to select the iTunes library/account to connect with, authorize etc. And nobody should be able to highjack the active user or use the last users account and start purchasing.
Is this kind of setup possible? Say, the Apple TV browses the local network available home shares, one select the desired share and on the computer a popup ask to authorize for that session.

HT1947 Why can't I see all songs for an artist when using iPad remote for home sharing music through apple tv.

Why can't I see all my songs for an artist when I search by artist using iPad remote? I'm listening to music via home sharing through apple tv using iPad 2 as my remote. All my songs seem to be listed fine under "songs", but when I select "artist" many of the songs I have for that artist are not there, any idea why that is or how I can fix this.....I suspect it's because many songs may not be associated with an album and it seems only songs in albums are displayed when I search by artist.

Thanks Ferretbite, but that's not the issue in my case, the songs are not part of a compilation. I just checked several of them and the "Part of a compilation" box is unchecked.....it seems as if the song does not have an album associated with it, it will not display under the artist when I search by artist on the iPad remote which REALLY stinks.
Hope someone else might have a solution.
