Sharing -my iPhone 5 was recovered after 6 months! And one strange question
Just wanted to share with everyone that my iPhone 5 was recovered 6 months after it was stolen, thanks to both FindMyiPhone and a company called ecoATM. It was stolen from my car on 03/05/14. someone (who says that they bought from a friend, didn't steal it) put it in a kiosk at my local mall in GA and got money for it - he also had to provide a photo ID and thumbprint when he made the transaction.... The company ecoATM notified me on 08/12/14 that the phone was at their processing center in California. They communicated with local law enforcement and not only returned my phone to me, but made an arrest. I gave up hope long ago. I had been using an older phone I had and was waiting for upgrade time.
Strange thing though, when I restored it, my Phone number is showing up incorrectly. I don't know how anyone would have used it with activation lock on. But a little rock number is showing up. Do you think that is just because perhaps it was sold to someone in that area and they tried to activate?
My guess would be that they put a different sim card in it and that you could resolve that by taking it into your cellular provider and have them put in a new sim card.

You have to reset the device to Factory Settings in order to restore it from an iCloud backup. You probably want to back it up as is before you do this.
To do the reset after you have backed up the current device, go to Settings>Reset>Reset all Content & Settings. This will erase the device. If you are signed onto iCloud with Find My iPhone turned on, go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom to sign out of iCloud before you do the reset.
Once you have reset your device, you will set it up like a new phone. When it asks if you want to restore it from an iCloud backup, select the backup you want to restore it from.

Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I wasted about 1.5 hours with Apple on this issue. It all started happening after I updated to the latest version of iTunes. I haven't been able to sync my iPhone 4 in 1 month and am freaking out about possibly losing my pictures, video, text messages and music.
Windows XP user.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you never backed up your phone to iTunes and never backed it up to iCloud all of your content is gone forever.

My iPhone4 (iOS 6) does not sync with iTunes. The message displayed suggests to return the iPhone to factory settings (which I cannot do). This happened after the iPhone was upgraded to iOS6 and performed one sync. Any ideas?

If your iPhone wont power on, I recommend going through these steps first:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Black Screen On ZBook 15 G2 - The Shared SPI Flash was recovered from Embedded Controler Flash

I have just bought a HP Zbook 15 G2 (1day old), PN K3C12PA a off the shelf unit (CPU 4910MQ, GPU 2100K, Z Turbo Drive SSD, QHD+ screen, RAM 32GB)
This unit comes with the 256 GB HP Z Turbo Drive (PCIe SSD) I used the supplied disk to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8.1,
now the unit will randomly black screen, I can hear the fan and unit seems to still be on, the only way to recover is to turn of the power via the main powder button.
Fault 1
Upon reboot white screen appears with "The Shared SPI Flash was recovered from Embedded controller Flash" with the title "Embedded Controller Recovery"
I'm not able to repeat the fault just seems to be random.
Fault 2
The mouse pointer hangs and will take 30-Sec to unhang, task manager show little or no use / load.
twice the unit as frozen and required a on / off / on rests as no keyboard or track pad input would work.

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your laptop. Since you have upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7 there maybe an issue with your graphics driver as you have experienced hang ups. You can try to update all drivers using the HPSA utility. This will scan your notebook and will detect any drivers that maybe out of date or did not successfully install.

If you go the "your iPhone is now unlocked" message after restoring it, it's probably unlocked, but the only certain way to know is to try a SIM from a different carrier.

I have two yahoo mail accounts. I went to bed and both were accessible on my iphone. I woke up and one was not able to receive any mail. I have deleted the account and added it back and changed the password. Still does not work. Any help?
Download the yahoo email app, if you already deleted and reinstalled the email account and still have issue.

sounds like you broke it. You'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and likely an out of warranty exchange.
