Sharing my own music..with myself?

I had an accident involving my iphone and mountain dew. I had to get a new iphone, later coming to realize my other iphone actually still works.. Is there a way to get my music from my old iphone onto my new iphone? its a 3gs if that makes a difference.

Ideally all your media would be in the computer that you regularly backup your iPhone to, so that when it is lost, stolen or damaged, you have everything to hand to load up to a replacement.
You can transfer purchases into an authorized library. See this post for options on recovering anything else.
Music and some other iTunes Store purchases (depends on region and rights holders) can also be redownloaded from your purchase history.

  • My daughter and I listen to the same music with few exceptions. We currently are under my apple id if she gets her own apple id she no longer will be able to hook up to mine?

I am trying to figure out if I give her her own apple id does that mean we have to purchase the same songs in itunes so that she can have access to them? I mean, it seems silly since if I buy the songs, I should be able to share with my family. It is for everyones use but if I give her her own apple ID so she can buy her own music with her own password then that whole sharing thing is off? I don't want to give her full access to my account password... She is only 11. I don't want her to go on a shopping spree LOL! So how can I give her the freedom to download free apps etc but yet share the purchased items I have already? Will this icloud help with that. Can I share my music with someone else with a different apple ID? Help. Extremely confused. Thanks.

You can create a new account without giving credit card details by following the instructions on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
And she can then use that account for free items. If she redownloads an item on her iPad (and similarly on your Mac) from an account (either your existing account or a new one) then she may tie the iPad to that account for 90 days (so she won't be able to redownload items from the other account until those 90 days have completed) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
Also all content is tied to the account that downloaded it, so only your account will be able to download updates to the apps that were bought/downloaded by your account.
The apps will only automatically download on your phone if you have automatic downloads turned on in Settings > iTunes & App Store on it.

  • Can I use garage band to edit my own original music from itunes? Or can I import my own music straight from a C.D. or Flashdrive?

Can I use Garage band (garage band '11) to edit my own original music that I have stored in my itunes library? Is it even possible to edit your own music with Garage band ? And how would you import your songs into it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

    Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.

    Sorry, but that's not possible.
You can share iTunes libraries on a network >  iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer

You can't currently transfer content from one account to another account. As long as the tracks are on the computer's iTunes that they use/sync to, and your account is authorised on that iTunes, then they should be able to continue to use them.

  • Transfering music with itunes sharing

I am running latest version of iTunes (11.2.2) on both Macs with Mavericks.
I can setup sharing just fine, and can play music from Mac A on Mac B. The problem is I cannot transfer music. I cannot see any options to import, or a Home icon although I can traverse around Mac A's library and play whatever I like. I have tried restarting iTunes on both Macs with no liuck.
One slight complication - Mac A uses iTunes match although it is online and has a considerabel number of tracks cached.

    I don't really want to 'download' it per se, I want to transfer it between computers within my household so that my wife can listen to it when I'm not around. From one of the Apple documents on moving music, it seems like it should be psosible (indeed it always used to be, as I would often copy music for other Macs sharing their library in my household);
"Home Sharing enables you to stream or transfer music, movies, TV shows, apps, and more among up to five authorized computers in your household. "
We really don't want to setup Match on my wifes computer. She has a lot of her own music which we don't want to share. We also don't want to have conflicting ratings etc. She also doesn't want Match because a) it has been flaky as all **** and b) it seems like Apple does very little to support it. The music I want to transfer is also not mainly downloads from iTunes, it is often ripped or downloaded from eMusic.
Are you guys really saying that Home Sharing doesn't allow you to transfer music between libraries anymore? Or is my use of Match an issue? If so, that'll probably be the final nail in the coffin of my use of Match.

Can music be shared between two devices with different apple IDs?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
iTunes content can be commingled in the iTunes library on a computer and synced to iOS devices. The computer must be authorized to use the content from the respective Apple IDs in the iTunes Store menu.

  • Does Home Share only work when you are at home?  Or once you've shared will the music stay on the computer you've shared it with?

I want to use Home Share to share music in i-Tunes between my desk top and my laptop.  Does it work once you're not in the same house?

If you use home sharing to transfer music to your laptop, it stays on the laptop and you can take it anywhere.
Look at Understanding Home Sharing:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819  where it says "With Home Sharing, you can stream music and video from one authorized computer to another, or simply drag music between computer libraries. You can also choose to have iTunes automatically import purchases you make on any of your Home Sharing computers to your own library."

  • Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own? If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps? How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two?

Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own? If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps? How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two? also I am going to be going off to college soon should I make an itunes id for my self and how will I get all the music from the old id?

Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own?
Yes, it is possible. 1 apple ID can be associated with up to 10 devices.
If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps?
    Yes, all purchases are non-transferable.
How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two?
Every device associated with one apple ID through Find my iPhone is tied to that Apple ID; Find my iPhone will work in the same way with up to ten devices associated with one apple ID. You cannot enable Find my iPhone for one device across two apple IDs
I am going to be going off to college soon should I make an itunes id for my self and how will I get all the music from the old id?
If you have authorized a computer with the old apple ID, you can transfer old media purchased through the old to other devices via iTunes. This doesn't mean the media purchases through the old apple ID it transferred to the new account. If you plan to make future purchases and don't wish to share them with others, make your own apple ID.
