Sharing non-itunes music

I have 100GB of music ripped from CDs. I want them to be available to my iTunes library and my wife's iTunes library.
What is the best way to achieve this? In the past when there was only one iPhone in the household, I would just drop folders in the "automatically add to itunes" folder which worked well, but I'm sure there must be a more efficient way than doing this twice - once for me and seperately for my wife.
I'm happy to recreate both libraries from scratch if necessary (we don't have any iTunes purchased music - just this 100GB).
I'm using Windows 7.
Thanks

I was hopeful I could use home sharing to sync my iTunes libraries,
Unfortunately, you can only stream content to your iOS devices via home sharing (not sync it).

My new yahoo account nestles comfortably in iCloud on the mine iPad.
No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.
That would depend on what you are trying to do.

  • I lost my non iTunes music on my iphone ?

I lost my non iTunes music on my iphone when I updated it but when I ask Siri to play song from the lost library she can. How can I get the music to show up In My song library again ?

Plug it into your computer. Turn off music sync. Let it erase the media. Turn it back on and re-sync the music.

  • Get non-iTunes music on my iphone

I downloaded an album off the artist's website, and my iPad/iPhone are saying apple does not currently support non-iTunes music.  How do I get the album on my iPhone?

You may be able to import the music into iTunes on a computer: iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import, and Convert functions - Apple Support
and then sync it to your phone: Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support

  • Problem with 2 Mac Book sharing same iTune Music  library on Aiport Disk

    Dear all.
I try to share iTunes between 2 Macbooks at home. Could appear easy, but not !
Of course, these 2 macbook are not always at home.
So I put the "home iTune library" on an airport disk connected to our AEBS.
In both Macbook, I recorded in iTunes settings that iTune Music folder is on the airport disk.
At this step: no problem; it works !
But if one of the macbook changes something on the library (buy a song on ITMS for example), the song comes on the airport disk but the other macbook can't know that there is a new file in the iTunes Music folder !!!
    Could you help, please ?

    Hi
This problem is inherent to using a common iTunes library on an AirPort disk. There is a simple but somewhat clunky solution. The xml file is actually (or should be) stored in the iTunes folder on your AirPort disk (the xml files in the iTunes folder on each MacBook are no longer used once accessing the AirPort library). Each time you quit iTunes on each machine, the xml file is saved and updated. So if you add tunes or alter playlists on one machine, to get the other to see the changes you must quit iTunes to update the xml file, and reopen iTunes on the second machine. I've seen some other posts about corrupting the xml file sharing this way, but I have not experienced this.
I'm still working through some other little bugs with sharing iTunes and iPhoto libraries this way, and it turns out that Apple does not formally support this use of AirPort disk utility. I was told this while working with a tier 2 tech support for about an hour yesterday trying to solve an iTunes playback problem from the AirPort Disk with my network in WDS mode.
I'll be interested to find out if there are scripts or other fixes for this and will check out the suggested link.
    good luck!

  • How do I transfer non-iTunes music files from my iPad to my MacBook using home sharing?

My MacBook Pro hard drive recently had to be replaced by Apple, because it quit for some reason they couldn't identify. However, now my ipad2 doesn't recognize my macbook pro and I have at least 200 music files in my library on my iPad that I did not get from iTunes. I need to upgrade my iPad to iOS 5 but I also don't want to lose all those music files. I was hopeful I could use home sharing to sync my iTunes libraries, but I can't figure out how to export files from my iPad. Please help, anyone?

  • Sharing one iTunes music and movies folder

Our family iMac is used by 3 people.  But I want my brothers to access my iTunes folder instead of having them create their own iTunes playlist and having duplicate songs and taking up space on my iMac.
Is there a way for my brothers to access my iTunes playlist while they are logged in their own account?

  • As a family we have shared are itunes music for a number of years as kids grow up how do we transfer some of the music to them

as a family we have shared music from one itunes account. now the kids are grown. how do we transfer some of the music to their new itunes account without them having to repurchase the music

You can't transfer tracks from one account to another. My kids have libraries authorized to my account and strict instructions not make purchases on my account unless I say so. A library can be authorized for multiple accounts, each account can be authorized to a maximum of five computers and each device can hold content from a maximum of five accounts.

  • How do I get non-iTunes music onto iCloud (*not* iTunes match)?

I recently won a new iPad in a drawing, and am now trying to figure out how to sync some of my music on it through iCloud.  The issues here are 1) I don't own any music from the iTunes store (all my music was ripped from my own CD collection), and 2) I'm not interested in shelling out $25/year for iTunes match until I see how the iCloud experience works.  Thus, what I'd like to do is use my free 5 GB iCloud allotment to store some of my music in the cloud so that I can access it on my iPad without having to use up my iPad's limited storage (I only won the 16 GB model, most of which is tied up with movies for my kids).  The trouble I'm having is that I can find no way to move any of my music files up to iCloud.  How does one do this?  I've tried creating a new iTunes library containing just the songs I want to put on iCloud, but I can't find any way to move these files.  Help would be greatly appreciated!

The iCloud service is not meant for this. That's what iTunes Match is for, and there's a reason it costs extra. If anything, there may be a third-party app that offers the possibility.
Alternatively, you can use Google Music to store up to 20,000 songs online free of charge: https://play.google.com/music/
...but this doesn't offer the close integration with various iThings and software that iTunes Match offers, nor does it upgrade your existing collection where possible, nor does it clean up your library or song information like iTunes Match can. You can get some competant, if slow, apps to use Google Music on your iThings.

  • How do I put my non-itunes music from my iPad to iTunes?

I put lots of music that I did not purchase on iTunes (downloaded online) onto my iPad but recently, my whole computer crashed and I need a way to put all of that music onto my new computer/iTunes. When I try and Sync it, only my purchased music will show up and if I try and sync the music, it will delete all of my downloaded music. I use iTunes Windows and have an iPad Mini. Is there some sort of program I can use or is there some way to do it manually?
I am selling my iPad and have to transfer everything quickly.

Restore your computer from your backup...
See this -> Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
After you recover it all, make sure you complete a full backup of your computer.

  • HT1386 I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my PC, when I synced my iPhone to my PC only the iTunes music files moved back to PC, how do i get my non-iTunes music files back onto my PC?

So as i stated I reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC, wiping the harddrive in the process. I didn't copy my music files to a third device because I assumed I would be able to retrieve all my songs from my iPhone 4 when I resynced the devices. Unfortunately only my iTunes-purchased songs went back to my desktop. This leaves about 1400 songs that I ripped from CDs on my phone and I can't see how to get those songs from my iPhone to my desktop again. I would really like to not have to waste a day ripping CDs again. Can anyone help?

You need to restore them from the backup that you should have of your computer that you made before reinstalling Windows 7. The iPhone is not a backup device.

  • Restoring from iCloud backup - what happens to non-iTunes music?

iPhone4, iOS5 and want to restore from an iCloud backup.  Wondering what happens when music not purchased on iTunes (95% of my collection), when I restore from that backup?  I'm thinking it will all be gone and I will have to go through the painful process of re-selecting all artists\songs I want on the phone in addition to re-creating my playlists.
Can anyone confirm what happens in this scenario?
    Thanks!
