Sharing of an HP F4280 All-in-one

Not totally sure if it's an HP issue or a Mac OS trick I don't know about, but here is the situation:
I have an HP F4280 fully configured (i.e. all functions working perfectly) connected to an iMac via USB (this printer isn't networkable). I shared the printer and access it on my network from my MacBook... The printing works fine, but no copying or scanning: the HP setup program running from the MacBook won't find the printer and therefore won't configure it as a scanner copier... The MacBook finds it, and recognizes it as the proper model...
I tried to connect the printer directly to the MacBook to configure it once, then hook it back up to the iMac, but that isn't working... Has anyone managed to do this successfully?

While I don't have the HP all-in-one I do have a Xerox. In sharing this it can be connected to either computer and used for printing through the Airport Express network provided both computers are switched on. However it can't apparently be used through the network for scanning. This seems to be a limitation of usb networking and of the Airport Express capability. I think (from reading the specs) that other functions might be available to other machines if the all-in-one was connected through an Airport Extreme base station but I'm not sure of this. Likewise connection on an ethernet LAN ought to provide all functions to networked computers but my all-in-one doesn't have ethernet options.
I'm no expert on networking!

Cannot install F4280 All-in-One in Windows Vista 32 bit

I downloaded the latest driver and full feature software but I get a screen that says there is a newer version of the software already installed. Any ideas are greatly appreciated (except buying a new printer).

I tried each step but no cigar. Some files were found to be corrupted and almost all were fixed by running the MS diagnostic tools you suggested. I still can't seem to completely get the program files uninstalled or reinstalled. What file does the software check when detecting the current software installation status? If I had that information, I might be able to find a way to remove it or modify it to allow the new installation. I am at a loss. I know that there has to be a way to resolve this but I am still a novice when it comes to the software.

HP DESKJET F4280 All In One has stop printing

I have checked cable, hub, and done everything that I can think of doing inculding updating drivers, software, windows but it still won't print even a test page. Everything that I send to print it shows error. How can I get my printer which worked fine Tuesday to work again?

Since the black isn't printing on the self test page, it might be a hardware issue with the printer or the cartridge.
I have provided a couple of documents with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue.
Faded, Missing, or Dull Colors in Printouts.
'Print Cartridge Problem', 'Incompatible Cartridge', 'Incorrectly Installed Cartridge', or 'Print Ca... Disregard the title. It also provides the areas to clean on the cartridge. Just to make sure they are the areas you have already cleaned.
Do you have another black cartridge to try? Just to rule that out.
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
What are the ink levels?

For a few weeks on my f 4280 printer an E error light came on after I put in new black ink and I couldn't print anything--the low ink light came on even after I changed the color and black cartridges. Then yesterday I turned the printer on and was able to print 18 pages--but the cartridge fell out when I opened the front after a paper jam occurred and printer stopped. After returning the cartridge, the error message says that it is an incompatible cartridge--yet it's the same #60 that I've always used. I've never seen the cartridge fall out of place before, either, and I kinow that it clicked into place properly when I first installed it in April. When I reinstalled another new ink cartridge, the E light came on again and I can't print again. Thanks for your solution in advance. Julie

I solved the problem on mine by opening the cartridge door and extracting each color cartridge and wiping the heads which had gummy ink deposits on them. Once reseated, the machine returned to its old shiny former self.

F4280 - All Lights on - Not Printing & I'm stumped

I have an F4280 all in one printer and it is not doing a thing. The Mrs was doing some thing the other day and since then it has not worked. There was the same item in the print queue where she has repeatedly hit print.
All the lights are on, no blinking, and the No. Copies is showing 8.
Unit has been disconnected from the pc and mains for over 24hrs but still no joy.
Any help greatly appreciated.

If the power cable is connected to a surge protector/power strip, then connect it to a wall socket. If it's already in a wall socket, then connect it to a different wall outlet and see if the issue occurs. If all lights still turn on, then unplug the power cable from the back of the printer, then press and hold the Cancel+Paper Type buttons, and then plug the cable in. If this doesn't resolve the issue also, then call HP to get the printer serviced.

Sharing library/playlists etc. All users on one computer STEP BY STEP guide

ok i recently installed a new hard drive and when I set up iTunes I found I needed to set up iTunes the way i used to have it... which was that all users shared the same library... and if one user added a song we all had it... without manually modifying anything... also playlists created by one would appear for others.
A scan of the forum caused me headaches and little help.
SO... a couple of hours palyng around and I am where i want to be!!!!
please note... save time and modify permissions at the correct stage... or it won't work!!!
Step By Step...
Go To...
Main users iTunes folder (iTunes Library, Album Artwork, iTunes Music Library.xml, iTunes Music)
AND... do a get info...
Under... Ownership & Permissions...
Change the group to admin and give this group 'read & write' and others the same or leave it at read only.
Hit the 'apply to enclosed items' button!!!
THEN... drag this folder to a shared location... IE Users / Shared.
THEN... make an alias and drag it back to the Music Folder in your own home library. (where the original folder was previously)!
DELETE the word ALIAS.
Log in as another user and get rid of the iTunes folder. (if the other user has different songs etc... then save them to a separate location for re-importing later!
Go to the Shared location... Make another Alias... drag it to the music folder and again DELETE the word ALIAS.
Do this for all users...
Any user who adds a song to iTunes... is shared by all.
Any user who creates a playlist... is shared by all.
One downside to this... if a user is logged in using iTunes and you switch users iTunes will not be available to the new user... unless the application is quitted...

That steps above are far too much (and unecessary) work.
Drag the iTunes folder to a shared location.
Make sure all users have REad/Write permission to the iTunes fodler.
Each user start iTunes holding the Option key, select Choose existing library and pick the iTunes folder in the Shared folder.

HP 8500 ALL IN ONE - CAN NO LONGER SCAN TO SHARED FOLDER

I have had an HP 8500 all in one scanner / printer for a while and have not had any problems with,
Yesterday the printer hung so I reset it.
I am using ethernet (wired) as opposed to wireless.
When I reset the printer it gave it a new ip address of which I reconfigured back to the address of my network ie 192.168.7.xxx
I am able to print and scan from the embedded printer web page but when I scan to my shared folder, the printer cannot conect.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I think it may be something either to do with the network path or possibly the sharing permissions fo the network folder.

I read through your post about the issues you are having with scanning to your network folder. My best suggestion would be to check out the guide below and set up your scan to network folder again.

HP All-in-One 2355 Shared from Windows PC - Cannot print from any Mac

Hi all!
I have a HP All-in-One 2355 printer. It is installed correctly on my Mac, and when I try to use it connected by USB, works fine.
But the printer is all the time conected to a PC, where is installed to. The PC runs Windows XP, at is in the same Wireless network as my MacBook Pro. The printer is "shared" on this PC.
When I search the HP 2355 with my MacBook throught wireless, I can find it. I see it if I going to Preferences Settings, Printers, Windows, Workgroup... Then I can add the printer, but I can't select any driver to asign, because the driver for HP All-in-One 2350 series don't appear.
What can I do? I contacted with HP, but they tell me that they don't support sharing between Windows and Mac.

Tried that too over the weekend,I unchecked the Photos option in iCloud preferences in System, let iPhoto do it's thing, then restarted the Mac, and turned iCloud Photos back on again... it looked promising the first hour... but then stopped downloading 20 or so albums. I have over 80 shared albums created over the years.
Also, the albums it did download, sometimes they're not even complete nor in any particular order.
I did exactly what you did. It took two days, but slowly all shared streams came back.
If the photo streams do not reappear, try if removing the content of this folder will help: It contains the photos downloaded from the shared streams. Perhaps one photo is corrupted.
~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub-shared/
Quit iPhoto
Move the folder above from your User Library to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.

I have a HP netbook DV7 with Windows 7. A Dell 15R 5520 (the last of the netbooks) with Windows 7 and a HP 6500A all in one printer. I would like to use the printer on both computer wirelessly without creating a homegroup. Is this possible? If so I would appreciate any help on the setup.

As long as printer is connected to a router and has a valid IP address, computers connected to the router will be able to access the printer even if there 2 or more computers connected to the router.

A new IMac, old xp pc, Linksys and a new Hp All in one...now what?

Someone please point me in the right direction. I need to share all the functions of the HP all in one, printing and scanning with my new mac and old xp PC. Sharing files will be nice as well. At this point all will be hardwired. I may add a PC notebook wirelessly in the future. The Imac and the pc are hardwired to the router ( Linksys WRT54G Version 2). At this point I can access the internet fine. The printer HP CM1312nfi MFP is still in the box.
What do I do next. My router is out of warrantee and Linksys will not help. Apple care tells me to call Linksys and HP says the same.
I need a simple step by step guide that I can understand. I have been searching the internet for days and I simply give up?

Can I share HP PSC 1610 All-In-One series printer through Bonjour?

I have an iBook G4, and a Mac Mini (10.4.11- Tiger) with a HP PSC 1610 All In One series printer connected to it by USB. On my iBook G4, the printer comes up under Shared Printers in the Printer Setup Utility but when I click on it, and press Show Info it freezes.. so I was wondering, is there a way to connect to the printer wirelessly with the correct driver (because the driver doesn't show up in the driver list... and the driver is installed.)

The printer is connected to an older Mac with OS X 10.4.11 but I do have an imac in another room. I have trouble printing from the iMac to this printer also even tho share is on but the printer works fine with the old Mac it's connected to. My iPad has the latest iOS.

A few things to consider.
The computer Printopia is loaded on must be powered on and must be able to print on the printer that is being shared. If the iMac is having problems printing to the printer it could indicate a problem with the share setup.
