Sharing of audio books

Does family sharing include sharing of audio books?

As far as I know, audiobooks are not even included in iTunes in the Cloud, which would be an requirement for sharing them if you are asking me.

Can you transfer music and audio books between computers via home sharing?

I just reformatted my iMac and would like to restore some music and an audio book from my MacBook Pro. Somehow, I got the audio book onto my MacBook Pro, which was originally downloaded to my iMac, but now I can't seem to transfer it back.

I figured it out. Home sharing was not activated on the iMac, even though I could see both computers on each computer. I tried to transfer all my music from the iMac to my MacBook Pro before I wiped everything off the iMac, but couldn't figure it out. I with I knew that before I reformatted it. I do, however, however, have everything backed up on disks. iTunes is one of the most confusing programs I've ever used...

Are audio books able to be downloaded through family sharing?

I set up family sharing and was hopeful the entire family could enjoy audio books together (listening separately). I can find songs, music and Aps from all family members but not audio books. Is there a way to share them across different Apple IDs?

If you turned on Share My Purchases, you can share most content that's also available in iTunes in the Cloud. You can share Music, Movies, and TV shows that you downloaded from the iTunes Store. You can also share Books that you downloaded from the iBooks Store. The availability of each content type depends on your country.
There are a few things that you can't share:
Songs added to iTunes Match from outside the iTunes Store
In-App Purchases
Items that are no longer available on the iTunes Store
Items that were hidden
Apps that aren't shareable
If you're on an Apple TV, you can't access shared music."

I'm sorry, but your sister, unless she had already turned on the "Find my iPhone" feature and the person who took the phone has not disabled it, is out of luck. She should report the theft to local police authorities, including the serial number of her iPhone. While her experience is unfortunate, there are good reasons why Apple cannot do anything else about it.
I hope she gets her phone back.

You will have to authorize your sisters device for your iTunes account (your AppleID and Password). Audiobooks are DRM locked just as almost all iTunes audio content is.

ckuan, he is referring to 'audiobooks' not 'ebooks'. Yes, you can access and playback audiobooks on a computer.
To answer the original question. When you bought the audiobook from the iPad did you also download it to the computer? My audiobooks share across the network and with my iOS devices just like all the other media I have including music, movies and TV shows. It will also get synced back to the computer you use to sync with your iPad for backups. It can be shred from that computer as well.
Be aware you can't share it from the iPad to a computer. You will need to download it separately on the computer from the iTunes Store. It will not be a new purchase it should download for free since you already paid for it on the iPad. It should show up in your iTunes in the Cloud purchased list when you view it in iTunes on a computer. Look for your purchased list on the right-hand side of the iTunes windows under Quick Links.

Can not access audio books itunes via Mycloud

I have no problem in Mac itunes selecting the MyCloud and everyone sharing the music. However, I can not get the audio books to work. I was able to use the MyClould as an external drive to offload large iTunes Libraries for users on the network. That work's. However, when I put the audio books into the Public Music file, or a folder with the aubiobooks into the Public Music Folder when I select MyCloud from the iTunes application and select audiobooks it says no audio books to select. How come this is not working? How do I get the audiobooks to share on the network as the music files do? Thanks

It is generally not recommended to put media files in the "Public" folder even though the WD My Cloud User Manual recommend it. The reasons for not using the "Public" folder are discussed in the [FAQ] Twonky DLNA Media Server Setup & Use thread. It is advisable to read that thread to understand some of the quirks of the Twonky DLNA media server. Ensure your audiobooks are in a format that Twonky supports. This link has a general list of supported Twonky media file formats. Ensure your audiobooks are properly tagged (metadata). If they are not Twonky may not display them properly. If one is using MP3 formatted files they can use a free metadata tag editor like MP3Tag to edit the metadata for their audio files. Lastly if you have moved a large amount of media files to the WD My Cloud, it will take the device quite a bit of time, sometimes as long as 24 or more hours, to scan the media and update or build the Twonky media server database and the iTunes server database. If one continues to have trouble with the media files not being found, try rebuilding the media databases by selecting "Rebuild" under Settings -> Media -> DLNA Media Server -> DLNA Database and selecting "Rescan" under Settings -> Media -> iTunes-> iTunes Database. Rebuilding the database(s) may take a considerable amount of time.

I have an iMac and an Iphone 4 and I can only see 2 out of the 20 some audio books that I have on itunes on the MAC displayed on the ATV or the iphone with home sharing. Am I missing something here?

I don't think the ATVs support Audible's copy protection directly however it works when played from iTunes or other iDevices. Use the Apple Remote app with the iPhone available in the App store. With this you can select and play the audiobooks from your computer or iPhone and listen to them on the ATV2 using AirPlay. I found Remote is indispensable on an Apple based media center.

IPhone 6 won't download audio books

I recently bought an audio book for $29.00 and can't download it to my new iPhone 6. I've tried syncing, un-syncing, disconnecting and re-syncing, but no luck. When I sync my iTunes with the audio books selected to download, I can see a Shared menu in my Music app under the ...More menu, but not an Audio Books menu. When I share with my PC, I can then see the Audio Books menu and listen to the books, but I can't take my PC with me so not much use. Please help!! Thank you.

I have iTunes 12.0.1.26 / Yosemite 10.10.1 / iPhone 6 with iOS8.1.2 so I am as up to date with software as possible - but I STILL can't get the audiobooks purchased from iTunes to download onto iPhone 6! The menu option 'More' which used to show Audiobooks doesn't - only Genres, Compilations and Composers - and I can only see audiobooks I purchased from Audible in the Audible app. Audiobooks from iTunes have vanished.......
I guess I will just have to give my business to Audible.......

Audio book doesn't sync to iPhone 4

I have downloaded a new audio book, but when I sync my phone, it doesn't get transferred. I can do a general search on my phone and find it when I'm home, most likely due to home sharing, but it doesn't exist in the Music app. Am I doing something wrong?

Be sure that you have checked to sync your audiobook on the Books tab of your iTunes sync settings, and that your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to purchase it (in iTunes>Authorize this Computer). Also, if you're using Home Sharing with multiple iTunes libraries, be sure that the audiobook is actually in the iTunes library you are trying to sync with (rather than just being shared from an iTunes library on another computer).

What is the original source for these audiobooks? In other words where were they originally downloaded or ripped from? What format are these audiobooks in?
Why can't you copy them over to the other PC using Home Sharing?

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. I can no longer synch music library and audio books, it says can only be synched with one of the libraries, anyone else had this?

i had to reboot my laptop, so reloaded itunes sofware, im now finding that when i'm synching my Iphone to synch audio books ive downloaded, , it says its synched with another itunes library ( my music) do i want to erase this iphone and lsynch with this iphone library, the music percentage at the bottom reduces to 0% in prep to erase.

try a new/fresh apple brand cable and make sure it is the only usb cable in use. this worked for me, i noticed i had no problem with a lighting cable. i did a restore from scratch and from backup and it did not help me...and if you cant sync than you wont be able to get anything but apps back after the restore

I can no longer find Harry Potter audio books on iTunes (April 2012)

I bought the first 3 Potter audio books in iTunes January 2012.
When I search the iTunes store, the Harry Potter audio books are no longer appearing. We just purchased the first 3 ones this year 2012 and would like to purchase the rest but they dont show up at the iTunes store.
