Sharing pages documents via iCloud

How do I share a pages document from my laptop so I can work on it on my ipad?  I have icloud enabled on both systems, pages is installed on both systems, but I don't see how I can send or share a document unless it's through iwork.
Thanks,
Robin

The desktop/Mac OS X versions of the iWork apps have not been updated to take advantage of iCloud yet. In the meantime you can go to iCloud.com, sign in & click the iWork icon where you can upload & download files. You could also try e-mail or Dropbox.

  • Sync Pages documents via iCloud from and back to iPad/MacBookPro

Having just updated to Lion on my MacBook Pro and got an iPad2 with iOS 5 I have now managed to get some of my Pages documents from MBP to iPad by uploading them to the www.icloud.com site.
I've made some changes to the documents on my iPad2.  These changes show on the www.icloud.com page. But my question is how do the changes sync back to the original document on my MBP?  Do I have to download them fom the www.icloud.com page?  I thought they were supposed to just sync automatically.  I tried downloading one of the changed docs to my MBP but it doesn't update the original but creates a new one (I think?!)
    Help, I'm confused now !

Documents in iCloud.com don't sync to your MPB. They only sync between iOS devices.  As you suggest, you have to download the document from iCloud.com to your MBP and re-upload if you make changes.
Messy, but that's the way it is at the momnet.

  • Sharing pages documents via email in pages

I cant seem to share a document via email unless i have the native apple mail app set as the default mail reader. I use airmail but still would like to share documents straight from pages. is there any workaround?
(I'm pressing 'share' in pages, 'send a copy' and if the native mail app isnt default then there is no option to click email)

Is it possible to roll back to the state before that update?
    Yes but maybe No.
As you are running 10.6.8, the update 9.1 isn't required.
If you bought iWork as a package embedding the three apps,
    Go to my iDisk :
    <http://public.me.com/koenigyvan>
    Download :
    For_iWork:iWork '09:uninstall iWork '09.zip
    and
    For_iWork:iWork '09:iWork9Update5.dmg  (I don't know if it was re-introduced in Apple's download web site.
expand and apply my Uninstall script,
    re install the original package
    apply the downloaded updater.
But, maybe, it would be a good idea to go to :
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
    download :
MAINTENANCE 1.3.8  (for Snow Leopard) and ask it to :
    check and repair permissions
    Clean most of the caches.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Pages documents in iCloud can't be opened

I stored some Pages documents in iCloud last fall, and now—even though they are visible in the Pages "open" window in Mountain Lion—I can't open them on either my Mac or iOS devices. When I click or tap on these documents, they appear to "zoom open" (in Mac OS) but never actually do.
Has anyone else run into this issue, or does anyone have any advice?

Restart fixed this, but still—not reassuring.

You can sync other types files between Macs....

I have read the manual, but as I can see there is nowhere where it tells me how to put my Pages document in iCloud storage, could someone tell me?

Here is some information on how to get a document from your iDevice to iCloud (which means you need to have the iOS version of Pages installed on your iPad or iPhone:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/documents/
And here is a slew of other help articles:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&src=support_site.psp.more&locale=e n_US&q=Documents%20in%20the%20Cloud
And, icloud is not really "storage" - it is meant to "push" a document you create on one iDevice to another.
FWIW, I assume you are on Lion? Please change your profile - it still shows 10.5.8...

  • Folders for my pages documents on icloud

I would like to make folders for my pages documents on icloud can this be done easily? Also the icloud help menu claims I am not connected to internet what is going on there? I am obviously connected I made this post didn't I or is my head in the clouds?

    Hi crward.
The application I was using is Pages for OS X, not the beta iCloud app. Apple did recover most of the lost data but not all--there remains a discrepancy of about (33) thirty-three documents. (see below)
As to your recommendation... As for Google, I've had a Gmail/Google Apps .EDU account since my college days, all the data in Google Docs/Drive hasn't been touched since I left it so that's a good sign. In contrast, considering this is the second time I've suffered a data loss with iCloud (Sep. 2013, when iOS 7 was released), I am ready to pull the plug and move on to another service like Google or Microsoft. My wife has an Office 365 subscription and uses OneDrive (not Google) a lot, I may take her up on it--they get 1TB of storage! (I'd be lucky to use more than a GB or two.) Most, if not all, of my colleagues use Word/Office so I will likely be limping back to using Word again. I used Pages all through graduate school and beyond, no issues with the app itself; however, since Pages saves documents by default to iCloud, I had little reason to think it would less-safe on iCloud than on my own computer (HDDs crash all the time).
Moving forward, I will be advising my friends, family, and colleagues to avoid iCloud altogether.
This is what Apple recovered.... Approx. 173 documents, approximately 84% of what there originally was. (I've already moved them to Google Drive for safe keeping)
This is what was originally in there... 205 documents.

  • After saving pages document to iCloud on my mac I can't download it on my pc as pdf...

hi! I've got a problem, after saving pages document to iCloud on my mac I can't download it on my pc as pdf... only pages available, when I do the same on iPad everything is fine... is there way to fix it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You need to open the documents on an iOS device before you can open them as anything other than pages documents.

  • Problem sharing .pages documents as Word via Mail

    Hello All,
I have recently begun using Pages on my MacBook Pro, but I am having an issue sharing my Pages documents through the program.
I click Share>Send via Mail>Word , but when I do this, it only gives me a "frog" sound as if I am doing something wrong, but Mail will not open or attach the document.
I have tried changing the document name, making sure there are no / or \ , but this has had no effect.
Is there anything I could be doing wrong?
    Thanks for your time!

Illegal characters are generally those Windows doesn't allow in file or folder names. There are also those UNIX doesn't allow. Just play it safe & use alphanumeric characters, spaces & hyphens.
You can just export the file using File > Export or Share > Export & then attach that to a new Mail message. Probabaly easier than trying to figure out why e-mail via the Share menu doesn't work.

  • How can I organize multiple iWorks documents shared with me via iCloud?

    Hi,
I'm just exploring iWorks for iCloud beta (i4ib).  A friend shared a Numbers spreadsheet with me via iCloud.  I can open it and edit it as expected.  So far, so good.  The two of us plan to work on several spreadsheets like this over the next two months.  Going back to an old email to retrieve the link to each file when we need it "just ain't Apple" if you'll allow me to paraphrase a quote from Happy Feet.
We would like to be able to use iCloud to organize the spreadsheets *someone has shared with us* so we could access them using the same Spreadsheet Manager tool in iCloud that we would use for any other spreadsheets *we have created and stored on iCloud*.  So far I haven't been able to discern how to do so and cannot tell if this is a supported use or not.  Does anyone know how to do this?  Have I just managed to miss it in the hints and help available?
In the mean time I've copied the a link for each of the spreadsheets he shared with me to a folder on my Safari favorites bar.  That work around is suitable for very small collaboration exercises but far from optimal for anyone who envisions using iCloud for collaboration on a larger scale.  I thought I'd ask the question before I tried to submit this as feedback to Apple.
    Regards,
    Elise
PS - I used *bold* to emphasize the difference between a spreadsheet I "own" because I created it and one created by someone else and shared with me.

What you want is not yet possible, so you should use the feedback channel to ask Apple to add it.  If Googledocs is better at this (I think it is from what I have read), you should make that point.

  • Cannot open Pages document in iCloud

    Hi all
I recently had to factory reset my iPad2 after a corrupted Apple software update. Fortunately almost everything was recovered via iTunes and iCloud backups. However, I am unable to access a very important Pages document (Pages docs were recovered from iCloud after the reset). It shows in pages but is misted out a little and it won't let me open it. When I look into iCloud I can see that the document is there and has content as the file size is 11mb but I am still unable to open it. It is many, many hours of work and I am desperate to retrieve the file if I can.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you
    Ross

Thank you for the reply Alfred.
The document wouldn't open immediately after the iCloud recovery in the previous version of Pages and it still won't open in the most up to date version. I have tried accessing iWork via my PC (sorry all, planning a Mac!) but still cannot get into the app.
In the previous version of Pages I couldn't even select the document for deletion or sharing. Is there any way I can try to recover the document again from iCloud? I guess that if I do delete the corrupted file from Pages, I cannot then try to recover it from iCloud?
    Thanks again Alfred.

  • Upload pages documents to icloud

    Hi,
Yesterday I downloaded Pages speciffically to store my documents in icloud. The icloud system, via iwork, is not avaliable to do this. Everything I've read says I should be able to do this. Has something changed, or is there a problem with my system?
I have a macbook pro and am running Lion.
    Hope someone can help,
    Thanks,

    Thanks,

  • How to share a Pages document in iCloud

Is it possible to work with another person on a Pages document remotely, via iCloud, and thus be able to see and restore previous versions?

Dropbox is a proven tool that even provides a month's worth of incremental backup. It will also warn you if more than one person opens a given document and makes changes at the same time. That warning is important, but it's still a pain to work through the differences if a collision occurs, so that's why I recommend never actually revising an old version, but rather beginning a new one. Mountain Lion makes that easy with Locking and Duplicate.

  • How do I delete 'ghost' Pages documents from iCloud / iPhone?

Today I got back a brand new iPhone 4 from the repair. It was already preinstalled with iOS 5, just updated to 5.0.1 and restored data from backup on iTunes. Enabled iCloud, opened Pages and…after 5-10 seconds iCloud started to sync and I got almost dozen "ghost" files in Pages — inf folders they look like normal Pages documents, but when I open folder, they are grayed out and at the top right corner they have arrow pointing upwards. Can't delete, can't open them.
Completely closed Pages, disabled data backup in iCloud preferences, turned off iCloud sync in Pages settings. Opened Pages, chose to delete all files in Pages. Restarted iPhone, enabled iCloud data backup and enabled iCloud sync in Pages settings, opened Pages, and soon real files appeared in Pages, which I could see also in Safari browser in iCloud/Pages section. However, after one minute all those "ghost" files and folders also appeared back! I can't even drag those "ghost" documents out of "ghost" folders, can't rename, can't delete. And someone not long ago ensured us that iCloud will surely work…
I deleted Pages application form my iPhone, installed from App Store again, enabled iCloud syncing and again after 1 minute all "ghost" files are back in Pages. In Safari browser I see only one "ghost" file, all the other "ghost" files and folders are not visible at all. Any idea what to do?

Problem solved! I completely quit Pages on my iPhone, then opened ~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~Pages/Documents folder on my Mac and deleted all those "ghost" folders and files there, also deleted the same names in iWorkPreviews folder. Opened Pages on iPhone and voila! — all those "ghost" files and folders disappeared for good.
