Sharing photos into one archive

We have three Macs with three different iPhoto libraries. They are all set to share photos. Is there a way to archive ALL the photos on these computers? When I select my laptop library and drag it to my iMac library, it pulls up the warning about duplicates. I check the "Apply to all" box, but I still get thousands of duplicates! I have enough drive space on two of these machines to archive all my photos, but I don't know how to do it without the duplication problem.

iPhoto Library Manager can be used to merge libraries into a new, separate library. It will maintain events, albums, keywords, titles, faces and places. The original libraries are left untouched in case the merged library is not satisfactory.

  • Combining multi photos into one?

I have taken several shots of a rally car going through a corner with a wide angle and would like to show the different positions of the car in the corner in one photo. the max to combine is 4 into 1

To combine several photos into one you need a program that can do compositioning. Aperture does not really support graphics compositioning. You will need to use an extertal editor that can layer images and supports alpha channels and transparency, like the the free GIMP, Pixelmator, Graphic Converter, Photoshop, or Photoshop elements.
With these programs you would be able to extract the cars in the different photos as a mask, make the background trasparent and overlay these masks onto the first image. This will work, provided you kept the camera pointing into exactly the same direction while taking the four pictures. Otherwise you will have to do lens correction as well to make the images match.

  • Is there a way of merging photos into one event on ipad mini without syncing from PC ?

is there a way of merging photos into one event on ipad mini without syncing from PC ?

Unfortunately cutting and pasting doesn't work.  The margins are so different for each document as the first document is a standard report with the text centered on the page while the second document is in the form of a letter that is off center toward the right side of the page.  Cutting and pasting either one into the other (I've tried both ways) alters both documents in a way that causes the images, quotes, etc that are interspersed throughout each of them to show up in the wrong place (and they cannot be moved to the correct location due to the differences in margin.
They really need to simply be placed end to end rather than trying to combine them into one.  This is apparently a simple thing with Pages on the Mac itself but it does not appear to be as simple with the iPad app.  Thanks anyway for your help.

  • How do I combine my photos into one libraray

Oh boy, I have really done it this time. I added a large external drive to my system. I thought I moved the iPhoto library to that drive and in fact it does show an iPhoto libraray there. I also, now notice that I have an iPhoto library on the Mac HD (which is now full!) If I try to move folders from the Mac HD to the external drive iPhoto thinks they are no longer available. So my question is, How do I get all of these photos on one drive, the external drive, and how do I then make it one library, adn finally, how do I stop this from happening in the future?
In iTumes there is the Get Info menu item that tells me where files are located, but there seems to not be one in iPhoto, so when I look at a photograph I cannot tell where it is located. I sure would appreciate any help I can ge on this one.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Greg:
You have a few options to consider. First, understand that the native version of iPhoto can only 'see' one library. If you have multiple libraries, you need to mess with the preferences every time, or get a third party application like iPhoto Library Manager (http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/iphotolibrarymanager.html) I have used this for a couple of years and I really enjoy it.
Another option is more time consuming from the outset, but it clears things up for the future. Use a Smart Folder to find all the photos in the library you DO NOT WISH to use in the future, then open iPhoto using the library you DO wish to use in the future, and go to File --> Add to Library. You then choose the Smart Folder, and all the photos, along with all the metadata that you may have customized, will be imported. You can then happily delete all the files in the Smart Folder, and be finished.
Another method is to again activate iPhoto using the library you DO NOT wish to use in the future, and go the menu Share--> Burn Disc to get a handy backup, then use that disk to import into the library you DO wish to use in the future.
In any case, if you have a DVD burner, I highly recommend you use the Burn Disc whenever you get nearly 4 GB of photos in the library for backup. If not, use that menu for CDs when you have about 600 MB. The beauty is that the discs are written in iPhoto format, and whenever you pop in a disc, iPhoto sees it, and opens it up like another album.
    Good luck

  • Merging multiples of the same photo into one

I remember reading a couple tutorials on how to do this weeks ago, but now i cannot seem to remember what to search for to find a tutorial on this.
I multiple photos, its the same location (tripod) with me in a different position in each frame. I want to merge each frame into one picture so in one picture there are multiples of myself in different positions.
    thanks!

You'll have to use File->Scripts->Load Files into Stack to load all the images into a single document, each on it's own layer, select all the layers and go to Edit->Auto-Align Layers. If all went well then you should be able to achieve your effect using a couple of simple layer masks

  • Merge 3 photos into one jpg

I have seen several slide shows (anniversaries/weddings) that sometimes show 3 photos on one picture.  I don't see any option for this in iPhoto '11.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Slide show templates may have places to put three (or more) photos that display on one slide but they are not merged. IPhoto has no capability to merge photos. Look at graphic editors like PhotoShop elements

    Hi,
for uploading the photograph you need to do some customization.
    1. Initial customization
Execute transaction code OAQ1 and put X in all the boxes.
Execute t code OAB4 and schedule the job
Execute t code SPAD and configure an output device
Execute T code OANR and configure the number range
Execute T code OAGI and deactivate Print list management system
EXecute T code SA38 and execute program RAPARAM and check for rspo/archive_format and make sure it should have 2 assigned on it.
    2. Execute t code OAC0 and configure content repository
Execute t code OAC2 and make your document type
Assign JPG doc class to your doc type made in OAC2 in t code OAC3.
    3. Now go to transaction code OAD5 and configure your settings
Come to t code OAWD and upload all your scanned photo to SAP
I know the procedure is tedious and lenghthy but there is no way out.
If it helps you then reward it.
    Enjoy

  • Getting shared photos into iPod

    Hi,
I am a new Mac User and would like to share my iPhoto album to my friend's iPod. My friend does not have a Mac. What is the best practice to do it?
Can I share album as photocast to a subscriber who has windows xp, iPod, and iTune?
I understand that photocast can only be shared to someone who has iPhoto application. I assume that iPhoto can only be installed on a Mac. Am I correct?
What is the difference between iPhoto and iPod Photo?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Mac User

I use APS quite a lot. I request a Picture CD with the prints. The Picture CD has digital scans of 1536X864 pixels, plus date and time the picture was taken. Prints at Walgreens (with Fuji Frontier machines) are remarkably good at 5X7 even with the lower resolution scan. For larger prints I scan with a CanoScan FS2710 film scanner. Scanning APS film is much easier than scanning 35mm film because you never touch the film (and with Nikon film scanners there is a motorized attachment which will scan the whole roll unattended). I don't know of any way of getting date and time info other than the Picture CD. There is a Kodak mailer service, which I haven't tried, which will process your film and put your photos online-http://www.kodakgallery.com/MailerAddress.jsp? I don't know if you get date and time info on the Kodak site. Hope this helps.

  • In I-Tunes, how can I consolidate multiple copies of the same album with different tracks into one file in my library screen?

In Windows 7 , I tunes library/ albums, I have many albums ( all the same) with different tracks in each.
Is it possible to consolidate the multiple cover photos into one ?

Generally setting a common Album Artist will fix things, if not see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • How can I put two photos in one 6x4 print??

Hello!! So I want to print out some of my photos for a scrapbook.
I however do not want them all to be 6x4 sized prints and making smaller ones (scrapbook prints) at the photo shops cost too much.
There HAS to be a way to just put two separate photos into one photo jpeg type file right? That way I can print them out normally and just cut them in half so some are smaller?
    Any help?
    Much appreciated!

    Your question is not clear
    do you want to
1 - put two separate photos into one photo jpeg type file
Or do you want to print two photos on one sheet of paper so you can
2 - can print them out normally and just cut them in half so some are smaller
For 1 you need an external editor - you can do it in pages for example
for 2 you simply select the two photos, crop them so they will fit and print selecting the printer, paper size and print size (slightly smaller than 3x4 since there needs to be a small border around them and between them), if the priview does not show two photos on the page click customize and in setting select multiple photos per page - the preview will reflect this selection and finish printing

  • I currently have 30,000 photos in my i photo library in300 events.  Ientally ad.    I add photos each day to different events over many years.  Currently I download my photos on one of my 6 MacBooks , and eventually I synch the photos to my phone

i have 30,000 photos in 300 events in I photo.
i Add photos each day into different events
i have to manually add the photos into one of my 5 MacBooks , synch to my phone and then synch each device to have all my photos be up to date with each event
is there now a way to add photos to my 30,000 photo library on just one device anfd have all my devices synched perfectly through the cloud into events exactly as it appears on my first device ...like our contacts or other synched items on the cloud?
it is critical that the events are maintained and the photos go exactly into place?
photo stream is not the answer
    thanks
    Knickfan 1970

    Hi Terence:
so that sounds like better news...I should be OK when this happens?
Essentially my events become albums...I still have the separation ..correct?
Why would this be a problem?
This was a response from an earlier post from Vanoord that concerned me: quote..see next-
Events has been removed from Photos - it's replaced by 'Moments'.
'Moments' are like 'Events', but split up by the software and you have no control over what goes where, or what they're called. If you've got 300 Events now, you can look forward to about 3,000 'Moments'.
This response implies that all my 300 events will become separated into thousands of moments.  What does this mean?  Is this true?
Won't my Events just become albums as you suggested?
I have years of events that have accumulated and collated photos.  They must stay separated.
****the other thing I was unclear about was the synching part..
    Example:
I have 300 albums with 30K photos distributed in various numbers in each album ( used to be events according to your response)
I add some photos in each album each day
I set all my devices to the cloud etc...
the cloud synchs from my designated "source" Macbook...
the cloud sees this and uploads
then the confusing part...the other devices ( MacBooks, I pad, i phone) all will see the synch and can then be designated to download to each device in the original form as we view it on a Macbook or i phone?  What does "full resolution" or optimized previews mean as Leonie replied above?
I need my JPEG images for my education keynote presentations and e mailing images as required from each event as needed ( soon to be albums)
Thanks again...just want to understand what is going to happen

  • Shared photos in iPhotos can't be used in iWeb?

My wife and I both have macs. I'm using iWeb on my machine, but she has a number of family photos in her iPhoto. She shared her iPhoto pictures so I can access them from my machine. In iWeb, I can see the shared album in the media viewer, but the content list is empty. If I open iPhoto and drag-and-drop a shared photo into an iWeb page, I just get a place holder with the name of the photo instead of the actual photo.
It doen't make sense that I'd have to physically copy the photos from her iMac to my PowerPC to use in iWeb...that defeats the purpose of being able to share photos, right?

I'm facing the same thing. Paul - did you ever figure out if this can work or not?
