Sharing photos using Elements 12, Windows 8 machine

Question: Loaded Elements 12 on Windows 8 machine but cannot share photographs via e-mail. I set preferences for Sharing and received confirmation. When I get to point where connecting to e-mail it just keeps searching and goes nowhere and I get no messages. I use Comcast.net for e-mail. Frustrated user!!!

Hi,
When it appears to keep searching, check on the taskbar. Does the Organizer icon show two tasks?
If you hover over them, one may say New Message. If so right click on it and select Maximize.
For some reason the first attempt tries to hide. Once you have opened it up, the next time should be OK.
The next problem you may encounter is when you try to change the text in the message body. The workaround here is to enter the required text into something like notepad and then copy and paste it into the email message.
My preference is to install Windows Live Mail and then use that as the email client.
Good luck
Brian

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • Saving Modified Photos Using Elements Version 11

I recently upgradedfrom "Elements 2" to Version 11.  I previously saved all my edited work in JPEG format and to the "My Pictures" folder.  I was then able to open all modified photos and share them with another computer without resorting to any specialised program.  I wish to continue to do the same using Version 11.  Having made several attempts without success to save modified photos using my well tried and successful method and having read the Manual to see why the process is not successful with Version 11 I am now exteremely frustrated.  Each attempt to save a modified photo results in a Thumbnail icon being loaded into the "My Pictures" folder with the elements 11 logo.  I then are only able to open the photo (which incidently does not carry the modified file name from the original) by way of the elements 11 program.  What am I missing/doing wrong?

    Dear swharton07,
    Thank you for these thoughts.
    When you say:
"Do you have your preferences set to save the files in My Pictures?", did you mean going to the "Edit" heading in Elements 11 workspace and then selecting "Preferences" then "Saving Files" and then "File Saving Options". I have done that and on the three Dialogue Boxes have the following active:
a.. "On First Save" - Ask if Original
b.. "Image Previews" - Always save
c.. Have also ticked "Save as to Original Folder"
I have not been able to find a Preference selection that allows me to specifically set "save the files in My Pictures".
By way of additional background here are the details of what I have been doing with a failure on every occasion.
a.. My O/S is "Windows XP Home"
      b.. I open Elements 11 program
c.. Import a photo direct from My Photos" with File Name IMG_1234
      d.. Modify the photo
e.. Select File then "Save As"
f.. In dialogue box select save position in a sub folder of My Pictures and rename modified photo IMG_1234.1
      g.. Select format as  "JPEG"
h.. Tick box "Include in Elements Organiser
      i.. Quality "High"
j.. Format option selected as "Baseline (Standard)"
      k.. Save
l.. Close modified photo in Elements 11
m.. Go to My Pictures and the desired sub-folder
n.. All I can see is an Icon with no photo depiction and icon has same file number as original photo (that is not the modified file number)
o.. Try to open photo using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3 Get message "Items listed were not imported -File is damaged or an unsupported format and then there is a further message showing C/: etc and last past of that message is showing the modified file number.
I am at my wits end as to what the problem might be and becoming increasingly frustrated to the point of wondering why I should be bothering  with as well having paid  for Elements 11 in the first place.

  • How to permanently disable the Shared Photo Stream on a windows pc

I've got the Icloud control panel installed on a windows7 pc. On this specific pc I only want My Photostream running. I've tried to disable the Shared Photo Stream - but when I log off my windows user account an then log in again, the checkmark next to the Shared photo Stream is back, and iCloud starts again downloading the shared stream. How can I stop this behavior? I want to permanently disable the Shared Photo Stream.

    Try this method of duplication:
    <font "size=+1">Duplicate a CD or DVD
    1. Insert the DVD/CD;
    2. Open Disk Utility, and select the DVD/CD from the left side list (select the DVD/CD icon on top);
    3. from the DU File menu select New | Disk Image from Disk 1;
    4. Choose to format the disk image as DVD/CD Master, name the disk image and click Save;
    5. When the .cdr file is finished select it with mouse and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info and check the box to lock the file;
    6. Choose the .cdr file from the left side list, click Burn, and insert a new, blank DVD or CD.

hello     when I try to send photos using the iphoto  a window comes up to tell me that my email server didn't rercognize user name /password  how do i correct this .. as i have cganged my email address  but i can't get rid of the old  one    thank you   marie

    Hi Cody\'sgirl,
If you are having issues emailing photos directly from iPhoto, you may want to double check the email account information that is set in iPhoto. You may find the following article helpful (the section below is about setting up a new account, but it should be the same location to check existing account info):
To set up a Photo Mail account:
Choose iPhoto > Preferences, and then click Accounts. If you’re in full-screen view, move your pointer to the top of the screen to make the menu bar appear.
Click the Add button in the lower-left corner.
Click Email, and then click Add.
Choose your email service provider. If your service provider isn’t listed, choose Other.
Type the requested information. If you use the Mail application included with OS X, some account information might be filled in already. If you’re not sure what to type, contact your service provider.
You can set up more than one Photo Mail account by repeating these steps for each account. When you send an email, you can change the outgoing account by clicking the From pop-up menu and choosing an account.

  • Problems with Editing my photos - using Elements 7

When I click on a photo to go to full edit, my computer freezes up and I end up having to close the program. It used to work just fine. My computer guy worked the memory of my computer, but it seems to be a problem with this program. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  7.0\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Printing using printer on Windows XP machine

    Hi there,
Am having some problems setting up my macbook to print using the Epson DX9400f attached to my mum's pc (running Windows XP).
I have the printer drivers installed on here, and when we plugged the printer into my macbook it worked fine.
I've tried using SAMBA in the advanced pane, but whenever I try and print it either pauses the printer, or comes up with a CIFS host error message (couldn't find many solutions to this problem).
I'm not sure if I'm getting the SAMBA address wrong - most of the advice seems to need the windows username and password, but mum's pc doesn't have a password (could that bbe a problem?).
I know the IP address of the computer, but the printer doesn't have one as it's connected via USB to the pc.
If I try adding the printer using the Windows button, the workgroup appears but nothing else (any solutions?), so that's not much help.
I can file share with the pc no problems, but this printing is doing my head in and it would be useful to have as I have a masters to print off soon, and don't want to keep transferring things to her machine in order to print.
    Any suggestions?
Apologies for the mass of information,
    Cheers.

Hello Cate_B and welcome to Apple Discussions.
The CIFS host error message is often a result of the Mac not being able to resolve the Windows computer name. This would be confirmed by the fact that when you selected Add Printer > Windows, your mums computer did not appear after selecting the workgroup. A solution could be to check what workgroup name is set in her Windows and ensure your Mac is set to the same workgroup name (set via the WINS section of the Advanced network settings.
For an easier fix you could try the SAMBA method again, but this time I suggest you try the following syntax.
    smb://IP Address of Mums Computer/Sharename
    Some other things to check...
    1. Make sure the printer is shared by mums computer and ensure a guest can access it.
    2. Ensure the share name is short (about 8 characters) and contains no spaces.
    3. Check that your Epson driver will work when shared by a PC. Some Mac printer drivers will only work when connected directly to the Mac via USB (this is the case with a number of Canon drivers). In this case, you need to use an alternate driver based on CUPS, such as the Gutenprint driver set. These will work across a network and a cross-platform share.
    Hope this helps you...

  • HT4236 Syncing photos using iTunes in windows revealed this error message "iPad Jayvee cannot be synced because it cannot be read from or written to ." Please advise asap how to resolve the issue.  Thanks!

Please advise how to resolve error message - cannot be synced because it cannot be read from or written to.

    Hello Janet,
I would recommend this article named 'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1207
    Outdated operating system software
Make sure you have the latest updates for your operating system, which may include improvements for device connections. For example, many USB and FireWire improvements have been included in Windows Service Packs.Check for Mac OS X downloads. Check for Windows updates.
    Computer needs updates
Make sure you have the latest updates available for your specific computer model (or components for home-built PCs). These are usually available for download on the support website for the maker of the PC (or component). Many USB updates are listed as "Intel chipset" or just "chipset" updates on PC manufacturer's support and download websites.
    Software interference
Some software can interfere with iTunes, making it unable to write files to your iPod. Think about what software you have installed, and try disabling any add-ons that might be interfering with iTunes. Check your suspected software's documentation or contact the software maker if you need assistance with disabling the application. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software frequently causes this issue. See these steps for identifying and troubleshooting third-party security software.
    Damaged files
If one of your music files or photos is damaged, iTunes may display one of these errors when transferring that file to the iPod. If you identify a file that is causing the error, try deleting that file and reimporting it from a backup file or from the original source. You may be able to repair files by repairing the disk (see the solutions in the next section).
    Unregistered .dll files (Windows)
Malware or other software may cause an issue with the digital signing of Windows XP drivers. First try restoringthe iPod using the latest version of iTunes.. If you are unable to restore it or the symptom reappears, follow the steps in this document.
    Damaged disk structure
These errors can also appear if the format of your computer's hard drive or your iPod disk is damaged.
To repair your computer's hard disk—Mac OS X users, read this article for instructions. Windows users, search the Help system in Windows for chkdsk to get more information on checking and repairing the disk structure.
To repair an iPod disk—Restore the iPod or iPod shuffle using the latest version of iTunes.
Warning: Be sure to back up your data before restoring an iPod. The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted.
    Corrupt iPod photo Cache
If you're getting the error when transferring photos to an iPod photo, try deleting the iPod photo Cache and then starting the photo sync again.
    Lost connection
Make sure that the connections from your computer to the iPod are snug and do not wiggle or come loose during transfers. For example, if you use the wrong size dock for your iPod, it can put strain on the connectors and cause a bad connection. See these articles for more information:
    Learn about iPod Universal Dock
    iPod Dock: Specifications
    Conflict with third-party hardware
Third-party USB or FireWire devices may also interfere with iTunes' ability to communicate with your iPod. Remove all USB and FireWire devices except the keyboard and mouse before reconnecting your iPod to the computer.
    Bad hardware
Hardware failure or non-compliant hardware can cause these errors. This could be an issue with iPod hardware or with the cable or dock you're using, but more often it's an issue with the USB or FireWire card or interface in your computer. Some USB and FireWire interfaces just don't work very well. If you isolate the issue to the USB or FireWire interface in your computer, you may want to try a different port, get the computer serviced, or replace the card or interface with a better one.
If you isolate the issue to an Apple-supplied cable or dock, or the iPod itself, you can get it serviced here.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • How do I use iphone on Windows 7 machin when current itunes on Mac notebook

My current itunes account that I sync my ipods with is on an old Macbook, but I want to sync my new verizon iphone to my work pc so I can integrate office outlook, etc. Is there a way to keep itunes on both machines?

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with music and video with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
You need to decide which computer you want to transfer iTunes content and photos from. If this will now be your computer at work, you will need to transfer your iTunes library and your photos from your Mac to your PC. You can transfer your iTunes library from your Mac to your PC at work following the instructions included with this link. This will make the iTunes library on your PC at work identical to your iTunes library on your Mac at the time it is transferred from your Mac. You will also need to authorize your PC at work with your iTunes account with iTunes - the same iTunes account used on your Mac.

  • Beware UNC path syntax for shared dirs used in a windows cluster!

This seems to be an undocumented but vital piece of information:
If you are setting up a Windows based cluster and you are using UNC paths
to identify the shared file locations for IntradocDir (Instance Dir), Vault dir
and Weblayout dir, please start your paths with 4 backslashes!
For instance, if you are putting your share on \\MYNAS\share\cs
The paths as configured in the intradoc.cfg should follow this pattern:
    IntradocDir=\\\\MYNAS/share/cs
    VaultDir=\\\\MYNAS/share/cs/vault
    WeblayoutDir=\\\\MYNAS/share/cs/weblayout
Now, the documentation, if read carefully, will lead you to believe starting
with two forward slashes will work.
    In other words, like this:
    IntradocDir=//MYNAS/share/cs
And on an initial system start, it may even seem good to go, BUT BEWARE!
When using only the forward slashes, at least two problems may arise:
    1. Any custom component which use java and therefore require a classpath may
fail to load their classes. This will result in ClassNotFound exceptions
    when class loading is attempted.
    2. OracleTextSearch may not be able to index files and you will see "oit" errors
    in the log.
This may be jvm and windows version specific but I noticed this on Windows server 2008 R2
using the JRockit 64 bit jvm.

As mentioned above I spotted Shadow Copy configuration problems in clustered environment on Windows 2012 R2 with latest updates.
Enabling Shadow Copy via Cluster Manager on disk will enable schedule and snapshots but schedule is not-cluster aware (is created locally on node) and "Previous Versions" are visible only locally but not via shared folders (UNC path accesible by
    clients)
When I spotted this behavior I tried different way going via Computer Management and cluster resource name but console always hangs for me when using "Configure Shadow Copies". After many minutes configuration window is opened (Hurray!) but any
action there will hang whole console again. Enabling Shadow Copies will fail with "0x80004005: Unspecified
error" for creating scheduled task but "Next Run Time" column still shows "Disabled". Checking disk resource via Cluster Manager shows it is enabled and ?local? scheduled task is created.
Computer management console still shows DISABLED and any action freezes whole console (only when cluster resource name is used).
This fix I found, unfortunately, is not applicable to 2012 R2 OS: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2894464
To sum up there is a major bug in MS implementation in Shadow Copies for Shared Folders when clustering is used or it is still not supported in 2012 R2? Doing it outside cluster works as it should (without freezes and Previous Versions are available via
    UNC)
There is no documentation about FileServer Clustering on 2012(R2) unfortunately.
Could someone from MS clarify it?
    Many thanks
    Filip
    EDIT:
    Ok, one correction:
Scheduled task is not created in "Failover Clustering" hive of Scheduled tasks as user may expect but failover of fileshare to other node will unregister/reregister it on active node only.

I have tried sharing a photo from my album to facebook. But it never posted on my wall/timeline. Why is that?

I have the same problem. Privacy settings seem to be fine. Facebook has access to the photo library. Never receive any kind of error.
I select a photo from my camera roll. Share with Facebook. Type in a short caption and hit "Post". It acts as if it is posting the photo, but it never shows up.

  • Using tzupdater on windows 2003 machine; multiple JRE instances

    Hi All,
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum. Alas i am a newbie at Java and have been thrown into the fire to update our JRE with the tzupdater tool. I'm having trouble figuring out if the tool is working correctly and how to apply it to multiple instances. I have 3 java versions installed on my win2k3 server:
    j2re1.4.1_05
    j2re1.4.1_08
    j2re1.4.1_13
I copied the tzupdater.jar file into the \lib folder of one of the instances and ran 'java -jar tzupdater.jar -u'. Prompt came back ok and when i ran it with the -t option there was no output to tell me if it worked correctly? (When i ran it with the -t option before, it listed a whole bunch of timezones and 'test failed' messages..)
    1) How can i tell it is working correctly?
    2) Do i need to run it in the \lib of all 3 of my folders above or is running it the one time ok?
    Thanks in advance.

    nm, i figured it out.
    - copy the tzupdater to the \bin directory of each instance and run it from there

  • Sharing Photo Stream with Windows user

Greetings.  I am trying to help a family member join Shared Photo Streams on their Windows PC so they can see the photos of their grandkids.  We installed iCloud Control Panel 3.1 on his Windows 7 notebook, and I created an iCloud account for him using my MacBook.  We can log into the account on iCloud.com, so we know it has been set up.  We checked the Photos boxes in iCloud Control Panel.
I added him to an existing Shared Photo Stream using iPhoto on my MacBook, and he received the invitation via email, but when he clicks on the link to join, all he gets is a page that says you can only join a Shared Photo Stream using one of a list of Apple devices.  I have read all the troubleshooting posts, and we even tried the hint that suggests killing all the Windows proceeses and restarting, but no joy.  I'm successfully sharing the stream with other Apple users, so the basic sharing is working.
I know we could set up the Photo Streams as public Web pages, but we'd really prefer not to have the baby pictures available to anyone who happens to find the URL.  Some posts I've read seem to indicate that other people have this working, but we just can't figure it out.  Any help from someone who has this working with the software combo above would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
