Sharing photos with descriptions

I'm trying to share my photos with captions.  How do you do this? (via flikr or mobile me websites?)

in iPhoto select photos and under  the file menu ==> export - export to a desktop folder - once you complete this those photos are totally un-connected from iPhoto and you can do what you want - move - change - delete - what ever
as to structure you can not control the iPhoto library structure
If you copy your photos to a folder and drag that folder (and be sure that the iPhoto preference to split items imported from the finder is not checked) to the iPhoto icon in the dock to import them
as long as you leave the iPhoto preference to "copy the imported items to the iPhoto library" which is strongly recommended - changing it is not a good idea - then you can do what you please with photo soutside of iphoto - you never touch the contents of the iPhoto library and you can do anything outside of it

    - What OS is on your computer? you say you have Windows 98. That I think is the problem.
    - Are you importing the photos by:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    If not how?
the .ithmp are thumbnails, not the full photo

  • How do Lightroom users manage sharing photos with family?

I'm just looking for some best practices about how to handle the workflow of sharing photos.  Obviously the Lightroom user doesn't want family members to start messing around with the photos outside of Lightroom, and if the photos are not JPGs family members might not be able to view them anyway.  One solution I can think of is to shoot all photos in JPG and in Camera Raw at the same time and save the JPGs to a folder available to everyone and only import the Camera Raw ones into Lightroom.

This is a possible solution, but by doing this, family members will not be able to see changes you applied to the photos from within LR.
Another option would be to export your LR inventory (or parts of it) regularely to a specific folder, where others can access the JPEGs/TIFFs.
In LR 3, this can be somewhat automated by using the Publish Services to harddisk, where only changed photos are exported again a second or successive time.
A different approach could also be LRViewer, which lets you view images in a LR catalog from the previews without accessing the originals and without being able to change anything on them.

  • IPhoto '11 Sharing Photos with MobileMe Login Error

    Hello -
I am using iPhoto '11 on my iMac and when I try to share a photo with my MobileMe account I am prompted for a username and password (I am sure I am using the correct UN / PW) it tells me that it cannot verify me.
BTW - I am not sure if this is related, but I keep getting messages from Safari telling me various xxx.me.com server certificates are invalid and suggesting that someone my be spufing me.
    Mac Jonathan

    Greetings,
I haven't heard of that issue directly myself, however your mention of the shared wireless network via one Mac's Airport card will not give the best performance compared to an actual wireless router: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB321LL/A
As a quick and simple test:
Turn off the Airport card on both computers (Airport > Turn Airport off)
Shut both computers down (Apple > Shutdown)
Plug the ethernet cable going between your modem and your 1st Mac so that it goes directly from one Mac to the other
Once the ethernet cable is plugged in, turn both computers back on
Launch iPhoto on both systems and test
If it works then I'd say get yourself an actual wireless router as sharing an entire photo library over your network is a relatively stressful activity and it would benefit from a router.
If it doesn't work reply back
    Hope that helps.

  • When sharing photos with iCloud the geotags disappear, how do I get the location?

The place where a photo was taken is displayed in Photos but not in the shared folder, when pictures are shared with iCloud the information just isn't there. It's not from the settings, everything is enabled. I have no idea why it doesn't work properly but it's of no use to me to share pictures with someone if we don't know where the other person's photos have been taken. Am I missing something? How do I get someone else's photos with their geotags?

Use View -> Status bar ; and click on it so the tick/check mark appears.
Note in the next version firefox 4 the status bar is being replaced see [[What happened to the Status Bar?]], and if you want something similar you will then need to use an add-on.

  • Sharing photos with Apple TV

Since updating to iTunes v.11.3 I have been unable to share my Aperture photos with my Apple TV. After Home Sharing has been turned on I try to choose which photos to share. The Photos Sharing Preferences window opens and the little gear begins to turn and turn and turn and turn... It never shows my photos lists.
I've tried repairing permissions, rebooting my computer, quiting and restarting iTunes, and quiting and restarting Home Sharing.
    Any ideas!

    I've solved the problem.
In Photos, Select Preferences.  In the General Tab, make sure that the path to your external Photos library shows in the Library Location.  Then click on the Use as System Library Photo Library button.
In iTunes 12.1.12, you will now be able to select your specific albums as before.
I updated my Apple TVs to the latest updates.
The specific photo albums can be accessed in Apple TV now.

  • Lync 2013 / Skype for Business sharing photos with federated contacts

In the new SfB client I can see photos of federated contacts. I'm on Office 365 and this only happens for Federated contacts also hosted on Office 365 where we have an Exchange organisation relationship. I'm not sure if this
is because of the new client, updated server software in Office 365 or something I just missed before.
If I look into the client debug files I can see that the photo URL for Office 365 includes the wssecurity (federated authentication) but for onprem system it's missing.
I have customers with Lync onprem asking for sharing the high res photos with external organisations. The classic URL-sharing is not a viable solution for several reasons. So, based on these findings:
Is the wssecurity (Web Service Security) in the EWS path something that will come to SfB server for onpremises making ot possible to enable photo sharing between organisations having federated identity configured in Exchange?

    Hi,
The Skype For Business Server update will come soon, I couldn't find any information about if the WSSecurity would be added to the EWS path for sfb. You can check when the update for Skype For Business comes. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Sharing photos with AppleTV

I have an AppleTV second generation that is connected via ethernet to a switch that has my blu-ray, Wii and tv hooked up to it as well, although this issue presents even when I unplug the ethernet and ahve AppleTV operating wirelessly to my Time Capsule. The problem is that my photos/library don't show up. I have enabled sharing in iTunes, but it still won't work. The "funny" thing is that it was working a couple of days ago. Thanks for your help in advance.

If you can't see your computer name, are you certain that the computer is running? You can try connecting the ATV and computer by wire (not WiFi), turn off wireless and see if the problem continues. If the problem continues even after everything is directly wired you probably need to call Apple. If it starts work when directly wired you probably need to ensure all things are running on the same network. As I understand it you must have all computers connected to the same network. There is a possibility with WiFi that you could have the ATV on one network and the computer on another.
Otherwise; Have you tried unplugging, waiting for a minute, and plugging the ATV back in and waiting for it to boot?
    Good luck.

  • Trouble sharing photos with iCloud

I am trying to share photos from my wife's iPad mini to my iMac using iCloud.
I created an album with about 20 photos on her iPad and shared it using my email. I received the email invitation on my iMac to subscribe to her album. I double clicked and there is now an icon in iMac iPhoto>iCloud>Family and Friends' Streams with the name of the album from the iPad.
However, there are no photos in the new icon. I have enabled iCloud>Photos>iCloud Photo Sharing in System Preferences on both the iMac and the iPad.
Why aren't the photos showing up in the iMac iPhoto?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I had to create TIFF files for 30 fotos or so. The other 50 did not pose a problem. I am still not 100% clear why this is. I suspect this has to do with having those photos coming from iPhoto and then imported into Aperture.
Before I hit this issue, I just re-installed Mavericks, because I experienced hanging situations. Mail would have hanging threads ("waiting for semaphore"). Basically after 20 hours or so, apps that use the cloud would all be hanging. There was no way to get this going again, apart from a reboot.
So I decided to reinstall Mavericks.
After the new installation I noticed that some iCloud streams were not visible in Aperture, that is where I created that missing stream and started to copy the photos to it. And that is where I encountered this hang issue in Aperture.
Retrospectively, I suspect the hanging apps were also caused by this.
So for people who experience hanging iCloud apps, try to delete all photostreams and re-set them. If you notice that Aperture becomes unresponsive, Quit Aperture and re-start it. Then right click on the photo and select "edit the photo in an external program". This will create a TIFF version of the photo that caused Aperture to become unresponsive when copying it to the photostream. Reject the original photo and copy the TIFF to the photostream.
Do this will all photos that cause Aperture to become unresponsive when you copy them to a photostream.
Don't forget to rebuild Aperture's database by holding command-option while clicking the Aperture icon. After rebuilding, you will find a lost folder with the fotos that were in the stream.
You may have to re-create the stream after all "bad" photos have been identified and the re-build was successful and then copy all photos in one go.
    Good luck.

  • HT4858 My iCloud stopped sharing photos with my other devices. Im in wifi and settings are the same. any advice?

Why would my iphone 5 stop sharing with my ipad 2 on the cloud with my photos. they havent shared in 3 days any photos

You may have to save any photos that are not in your camera roll to your camera roll on both devices, then turn photo stream off, and (after a few seconds) back on to get things working again.  (If you don't save them to your camera roll, you will lose photos older than 30 days as older photo stream photos are no longer in iCloud.)

  • Sharing photos with Revel

I'm considering upgrading to adobe revel premium, but I want to know if there's a way to send a link to friends and family so they can go on-line and view my library of photos without my having to give them my personal sign in info (user name and Password).  Can I do this with either the free version, or the paid version?

Yes, you can send links to albums and determine if the viewer can download or not also. They view the phtotos in a web browser by clicking on the link you send them.
As a premium user you also have the option to set up collaborative sharing (such as with a spouse, parent, or kids who each have their own login) Some families like this for getting all the photos in one place.
Here is a link that talks about how to do both:

  • Sharing photos with multiple users on single iMac

I want to share all my iphotos with all users. I purchased an external hard drive (Rock Mobile) that automatically synced up to the Time Machine. I have loaded the iPhoto data base onto the Time Machine. I would like other users to have access via their screen saver - how can I do this?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You'll need to partition that external if you want to share it with TM.
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
    Regards
    TD

  • Can I use multiple Facebook accounts when sharing photos with Photos

With iPhotos I could set up multiple Facebook accounts and choose which account to share to...that does not seem to be an option with Photos.

    Terence,
I do not see the Accounts in preferences of iphoto? Where is this?

  • Sharing photos with iOS 6 via email

    Hi
When trying to sent pictures from photos can select pics, then email appears with photos attached and when send there is a sent sound but mail is not received and also does not appear in sent folder. Even trying other email addresses for example gmail instead of iCloud results are the same
Is there a fix for this? The problem appeared since iOS 6

Open either or both the Mail app or Photos app and try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank. Be patient, the device will power ON again in the normal way. It is app and data safe!]
