Sharing Pinned "Maps" Location in Aperture

Has anyone figured out a way to "share" a pinned location in Maps to Aperture?  I know that Aperture uses Apple maps for locating a photo but if I've pinned the location in the Maps application either in OS X or on an iOS device it would be nice if it automatically showed up in Aperture's map location view.

I don't know of any easy and automatic way to get the map locations from the Maps.app to Aperture.
What I am doing, to extract the locations from the Maps.app, is to use the Information panel of the dropped pin to share the location by email.
The email will contain a contacts card. If you open this contacts card in Contacts.app, you will see the address and a map query url. The URL contains the latitude and longitude.
You can enter these coordinates into the "Manage  My Places" search field in Aperture, and the "Additional Results" panel in Aperture will take you to the place on Aperture's Places map.
Then create a new place from there - that is a rather involved work-around.
Tha Contacts will not let you copy the coordinates directly from the link. I open the vcard simply in TextEdit, to be able to copy and paste the latitude and longitude.

  • Safari 8 hover does not work over google map location pins

    OS X 10.10.1,   Safari 8,  Java 8-25
I have always had little odd things not work when using safari on a large % of websites I visit,  the latest issues are
no response when hovering over google map location pins, travel site calendars not opening or responding to mouse, drag and drop
show the item being dragged several inches away from the actual pointer, some links don't respond, missing items
or odd layout with print or pop ups going off the screen on some website pages, zooming in and out does not help. I have none
of these issues when using Firefox or Chrome. Been using Safari for 4 years now.

Have you tried a PRAM and an SMC reset? They're longshots, but don't take long to try.
    PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Have you run Apple Diagnostics from the disc(s) that shipped with the computer?
Since the problem occurs in all browsers, it still sounds like a video hardware or video RAM or maybe a software issue having to do with layers and rendering.
The map layers aren't getting rendered, or if rendered, aren't getting displayed.
Do you have any browser add-ins? Pop-up blockers?
Since you have two video chipsets, it's possible that might be related to the issue.
This non-Apple website talks about switching between chipsets on the various MacBook models so equipped, and points to a free 'donationware' program for the menubar that lets you easily switch between chipsets:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/macbook-pro-unibody-faq/macboo k-pro-unibody-switching-between-graphics-processors.html
Trying to think of other software that might help pinpoint the problem, does the iPhoto Slideshow 'Shatter' template work? Working properly, it 'shatters' images into several color layers and rotates them in and out to build and deconstruct photos.

  • How do I remove the rectangle label on a Maps location but leave the red pin?

How do I remove the rectangle label on a Maps location but leave the red pin?  I find the label can get in the way and I can't read the map properly, if I could see only the red pin then I could read the streets around it.  If I touch the label then I get a new screen with address details.  Another thing I tried and I ended up with a course plotted to drive from my current location, neither of these things I wanted.
    Thanks,
    GT.

  • Precise location in aperture

    Hello,
according to the Aperture manual: "Depending on the zoom setting in Places view, Aperture might use a single pin to represent a group of images shot in close proximity. However, you can view the precise location where each image in the group was shot."
Unfortunately the single pin is sometimes relatively far away from the place I would like to have the pin (e.g. the pin is located on a small village representing pictures from Berlin and other larger cities). Is there a possibility to relocate the pins e.g. via priorities or to increase the densitiy of the pins, so that in every more or less pins are shown?
    Best regards
    Fabian

    Hello, Fabian,
For the zoomed out view I usually add a place of my own, centered at the position I want the pin to appear, and I adjust the size to cover the total area that I want this particular pin to represent.
In Places View, use the main menu bar command: "Metadata > Manage My places"
Then search for a location in the vicinity of the location where you want to place the new pin and press the "+" beside the name of the place.
Now move the center on the map and adjust the size; type a name into the textfield.
    Press the "Done" button.

  • Maps Location Problems - PLEASE HELP

I have an 8 Gb iphone with firmware 1.1.4 and am trying to use the maps location feature. it will not work unless i turn my WiFi off and then try to locate and once i have been located i can turn WiFi back on and get a more accurate location. even if i am not connected to WiFi but i still have the WiFi feature turned on it will not work. please help

I recall this post before. Were you the same one that posted it? The Google map location function seems to be the problem here, and it could be an issue with the application. Did you try the troubleshooting steps in order, power off/on, reset, restore? If you did and that doesn't seem to fix it, then I suggest a trip to the Apple Store Genius bar. I also find it interesting that once you get a location, that turning on the WiFi gets it more accurate. I've not seen that. The location goes out and gets its information from a webserver. If there is an issue connecting to their database, I don't know that you would get an error message. I think I posted the name of the server before, I just can't remember it now. There is a way to update location information with that service, it is posted on their webpage. I know I have the location saved on my desktop, it's is just that I'm away from home right now on my laptop. I'll see if I can find it for you.

  • Mapping location errors caused by 3G

I was very puzzled as my iPod touch could locate me within 20 m in the house whereas my iphone thought I was 200km away and only when I went outside and A-GPS could work did it correct itself. However I have discovered if I turn off 3G then the map location immediately switches to the correct location. If I turn off all cellular functions ( airplane mode ) and just use wireless again the location is accurate. I assume it is using cell towers to triangulate when A-GPS is not available and wonder if the 3G signal is interfering and hence leading to the wrong result. Anyway there is clearly a bug and I wondered if anyone else has the same problem.

for anyone that googles this error, i resolved this error by using SMQ1/SMQ2 and restarting some jobs that were in SYSFAIL status

  • How to display only images that do not have a map location assigned

I just upgraded to PSE 11.  So far so good.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit, SP1.
I'd like to find out how to search for all of my photos that do not have a map location assigned to them.
Is there a way to do this?  It may be built in, but so far I have not been able to figure it out.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I think that if you select the Places view, the images shown are the ones that you have already placed. If you then click on Add Places (at the bottom) the filmstrip across the top shows the images that haven't been placed.
If you then place one of those images, a small icon appears in the filmstrip until you next close that window (click on Done).
    Hope that helps

  • Miss a map function in Aperture 2 book themes as available iPhoto

is there a way to import the iPhoto book theme lay-outs with map function into aperture 2 (map with travel route based on photo gps data and manual input)?

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
No - iPhoto and Aperture are totally different and you can not share the templates
You can do a map page in iPhoto and print that page to PDF selecting the send PDF to iPhoto option which will create an image of the map in iPhoto - then export that image and import it to Aperture (or upload to MobileMe or use any places that images can be user)

I'm missing the map pane in Aperture 3.2 Inspector - can anyone help? Thanks!

Do you mean the map-icon in the toolbar, that switches to the Places View?
You can add it again from the main menu with
         View -> Customize Toolbar
Just drag it back onto the Toolbar.

  • Siri/map Location Issues after ios 6 Upgrade

So I updated my iPhone 4S to ios6 last week, and I noticed today that I am having location/maps issues when I ask Siri to locate restaurants near me. I was traveling for work today, and ask Siri to find restaurants near me, and the location services arrow came on at the top right of my iphone that it was working. Well, it found restaurants for the location that I last had my Maps location services turned on at. I do not leave the Maps location services on all of the time and only turn it on when I need it. So, I turned it on after it didn't work correctly, then ask Siri to locate restaurants near me again, and it worked correctly that time. I turned the Maps location services off, drove 30 miles or so up the road and stopped at an interstate exit. Then, with Maps location services still off, I ask Siri to find restaurants near me again, and it still found restaurants 30 miles up the road where I last had the Maps location services on. What gives? Before ios 6, Siri did not need to have the Maps location services on to locate restaurants near you. This is a bug and needs to be fixed. Is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?

  • Can't change pin mapping of a capacitor in multisim

I have an annoying problem in that all the eletrolytic capacitor footprints in the database seem to have their pins mapped to the opposite pin in the symbol, i.e.
    1              2
    2              1
The problem arises when you transfer the schematic to Ultiboard and the only way I can make ultiboard connect the capacitor properly is to reverse the connections of the electrolytic capacitor in multisim, i.e.
    +             GND
    -              Vcc
And there seems to be no way of changing the pin mapping in multisim. You can go to 'edit footprint' and go throug the motions of changing the pin mapping. But as soon as you close the dialog box and then go back into to 'edit footprint' the previous reveresed pin mapping is back.
How do you fix this extremely irritating problem?

    Hi,
This reply is almost the same as the one on this item:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/Circuit-Design-Suite/Update-footprint-of-already-placed-components/td-p/3145...
Normally you can not edit the master database...
You can open the part in the master database, and save it to your user database,
YOU MUST USE THE SAME FOOTPRINT NAME.
In you user database you can now change the footprint pin names (properties)
save it after you're done and keep the same footprint name
next do a footprint update: Tools/Update shapes
when Ultiboard updates its shapes , it looks in the User database first, and afterwards in the master database.
So if you kept the same name, your shape will be updated to the one you changed.
Now your polarity should be OK
    succes!

  • Best photo sharing site to use with aperture?

what is the best photo-sharing site to use with aperture?
    flickr and flickr export?
or are there more capable alternatives?
is there any solution to sync tags and keywords between aperture and the photo sharing site?
    thanks for any advice

i was wondering what the best service is in combination with aperture, the best service on its own for me is flickr, i like there online interface a lot.
so there is no way to have the same functionality with aperture as with iphoto from ilife08?
the demo on the .mac website shows they simply upload a gallery to .mac web gallery like here: http://gallery.mac.com/emily_parker
now when i export a web gallery from aperture its just a stupid web page with none of the interactive functions of a web gallery
but unless aperture can publish to .mac like iphoto can i will probably stick with flickr, flickr export for aperture seems also the most capable plug in for the moment compared to the export plugins for smugmug or other services.
i was really hoping to be able to use .mac like advertised with iphoto or have someone here suggest some other great service to use with aperture, i would especially like to be able to sync keywords both ways.

  • Complaints about Places/Locations in Aperture 3.5

I have found several problems/bugs with Places in 3.5
According to the manual when I click on "Move Pins" in the Places view, pin heads of the places should change to purple. That does not happen.
However, it is possible to move a pin after clicking on "Move Pins". But, it seems that you have to click on the exact single pixel somewhere in the pin. Clicking anywhere in the pin head has never worked for me at all. I have only succeeded after trying several times (usually about 3-5 or even more) to click very precisely in the middle of the pin.
When I have succeded in moving a pin the Place does correctly show as moved to its new location in the Places view, and the GPS info (latitude and logitude) of photos assigned to that Place get correctly changed. However, in "Manage My Places" the Place still shows up as its old location.
When working with a location outside the USA where Apple Maps resolution is often much lower than that within the USA, clicking on a pin in Places view and then clicking on the right arrow of the pin head to select photos assigned to that pin zooms the view to the highest resolution. But, when that res. is higher than the resolution of the map available for that location all you get is an ugly gray scale grid pattern. After that you have to manually zoom out several levels to see the map details.

The Adjustment Inspector shows all current adjustments to the Primary Selection (the Image selected, of only one, or the one with the heavier border when more than one Image is selected).  Select an Image you have adjusted (in Aperture, "edits" are called "adjustments"; there is a reason for this, not worth going into here) which does show the adjustments in the Viewer (the Browser shows a grid or list of Images in the selected container(s); the Viewer shows the selected Image(s)).  What does the Adjustment Inspector show?  Are the Adjustment Bricks checked?  Are the parameters changed shown within the Bricks?
