Sharing report between two business areas?

Hi,
We have two business areas : Sales and Sales with Gross Profits.
Sales with Gross Profits has some columns that Sales business area doesn't have.
Is it possible to share a report between those two business areas if the columns used in the report are the same, without any possible issue?

The folders used by the workbook cannot be easily changed. You could of course have the folders used by the workbook in both business areas, but then you would have 2 versions of the folder in the business area, one with the extra columns and one without.

Difference between Segment & Business Area

Hi All,
Could any one please help me in explaining what the difference between Segment & Business Area? And what does it mean by We can create financial statements at any time for the Segment dimension. For this, you need to set up a zero balance setting for the Segment characteristic can any one could please help me on this.
And also please explaining what this Document Splitting is? How is it helpful? Please give an example in real time senior. I have already gone through Help document, please dont suggest me that.

Earlier in SAP we used to have very limited reporting hierarchies, in which business area is one like Company Code. But obviously in FI or CO either user/ partner/ management always interested in viewing the business on different entities in different forms of reports.
So, with the newGL SAP has given a provenance to users to create their own reporting entities. So, with the newGL customers can generate balance sheets by almost any dimension by defining a SEGMENT, meaning: cost center, plant, etc even you can define business area as a segment.
For this purpose was create the SEGMENT entity. So that it helps customer in segment level reporting.
We Can create financial statements means we can generate balance sheet or profit and loss statement on segment.
For lay mans terms I can tell Business Area is on example of Segment. Hope it clarifies..
In order to understand document split you should be familiar with New GL / Ledger accounting...
Regarding Document Splitting: Consider following realtime example

Basically the document split will distribute the money depending on your split method you have configured in SPRO.
Don't confuse too much, it is very easy if you go step by step in SPRO -- especially Finanacial Accounting (new) configuaration.

Cross Business area Transactions bettween two Business area in Classic GL

Dear experts,
we are not in new GL and we are still in Classic G/L and we have two business areas where we are doing cross business transactions and clinet want tallied trail balance of each month.
How can we achive the above situtaion. I know new G/L where systeom will take care for tallied trail balance by using Zero balance clearing account.

Indicator: Business area financial statements required?
    Indicator that a balance sheet and/or a P&L is to be created per
    business area for internal purposes.
Use
    If the indicator is set, then the "Business area" field is always ready
    for input, regardless of the field control of the posting keys and of
    the accounts when you enter documents. This indicator results in
    required entries in the Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), and
    Sales and Distribution (SD) components.

i received a payment from customer.when i check this voucher by fb03 than in a single document it is showing Business Area 1100 and 1200 both. How the System is allowing to select two business area in one entry?

At the time of initial posting of the document itself you might have posted two line items with a two business areas. Try to post only one line item. There is no standard control to stop the posting of 2nd line item by Standard SAP.

Record a videocall with shared content between two endpoints

Good day! I faced a next task a record of a videocall between two endpoints. For example, a videocall with shared content between two DX70. I doubt that MediaSense is able to record content, whereas Telepresence Content Server is extremely expensive solution. What simple way is for sorting out my issue?

I believe that if you edit any song information (Name, Artist, Album, etc.), iTunes refuses to edit the actual file (but keeps a cache record of the changes). If you "Compile iTunes Library" (see below), it will make a change to the duplicate file it creates, and keeps record of the ratings as well.
To compile your iTunes library, go to the "iTunes" option, and select Library... >> Organize Library... and select "Consolidate Files". This will duplicate your files, and move the duplicates to the iTunes Music Folder (organized by artist and such). You can then copy and move this file to your iMac.

Report Writer report required by Business Area GSBER for table GLPCT ECC6

I have a requirement for report writer report by Business Area (GSBER) for table GLPCT.
I am using Libruary PCA which has GSBER already activated
In report I am able to select GSBER in General Data Selection and generate.
However when I execute report I get error message GR410 "Characteristic GSBER cannot be combined with key figures" .
I have looked at SAPnotes 929889 1155524 and 358251, which describes solution to add field to CCSS table (structure CCR1S) however I cannot work out what structure to change for table GLPCT used in my report.

Hi ,
If you are using the cube: 0FIAP_C20, then i guess you are using the standard extractor 0FI_AP_20 . One thing which i remember that there is a standard view in ECC : LFC1_AEDAT.
This view has two tables : LFC1 and BWFI_AEDA2.
LFC1 - Vendor master (transaction figures)
BWFI_AEDA2 - BW FI: Log Table for Changed Transaction Figures
This standard extractor uses table LFC1 to show vendor balances.
And the table BWFI_AEDA2 contains the log of the changes that has taken place business area wise and account no of the vendor wise .
Please check the view definition to confirm the same . Once you will see the joining conditions in this view you will get a clear picture of the above point .
So for your issue, you can do datasource enhancement of 0FI_AP_20 .
The logic will be based on LIFNR,BUKRS,GJAHR available from the datasource , fetch the business area from this view and populate it in your datasource .
But first check in the table BWFI_AEDA2 whether for the field BWFI_AEDA2-TABNAME= lfc1 , business areas are maintained .

Sharing information between Hyperion Business Rules

I am trying to share information between two Hyperion Business rules in EAS console.
Suppose for example , I calculated a value and stored in local variable in one Business Rule.
I would like to have this information in another business rule.
Any idea about the possiblities.?
I tried to use Global Variables in EAS but the Global variables are fixed and cannot be changed.

Can you make a HBR local variable the target of a value? Doesn't that local variable have to resolve to a member in an Essbase database sooner or later if it's going to receive a data value from a formula?
Or did you create a local variable as Real and then used that as the target? Maybe that would do it? (Obviously I've never done this.)
Could you create a temporary place in the database to stick it and then delete it?
Something like:
1) Local variable = some kind of formula/calc
2) No Account->No Product->No Scenario->whatever = Local Variable value. The point is an unused member that will let you set a value without overwriting permanent numbers. That shouldn't be too hard to find in a Planning app.
3) In HBR #2, go after that member combination and number from #2, stick it into a local variable, and set that location in #2 to #Missing.
Kind of painful, but it shouldn't really be that tough. You will need to make sure you create the block in #2.

Sharing iCal between two users

Problem: Need to know how to share calendar (and address book) between two users. We both have iphones that we'd like to sync to so we'll have 'home' calendar. It seems like it should be an easy process but so far, no luck.

Right, seems the answer is 'Not really'. You can publish an ical calendar - but that is read only.
Which is really quite terrible. Not what we expect from an apple solution.
2 adults with 2 iphones can share one life and one mac - why can't we build a shared calendar?
BUT.........
There is an alternative that isn't TOOOO hard to set up.
Google calendars will sync with ical, so if you both have gmail addresses you can create a calendar you can share in iCal.
It's a bit faffy but not too taxing
1 open your gmail and set up a calendar
2. look under My calendars/settings
/share this calendar
and add the gmail address of your sharee
select "make changes"
this means they can add to it when they accept the invitation.
3. go to the first tab and select
/calendar details
look for
/Calendar Address: ICAL
copy this address and mail it to the new user.
when they log in they can then use that ical url to add to their calendar list.
Phew...
This may not be the exact way to do it, and some steps may be superflous - but i now have a shared calendar between 2 people's ical diaries on one mac and visible on two separate iphones as a google calendar (the iphone ical however will only update when you sync)
Boo:
1. having to use googlecal to set up or edit events - iCal will treat the shared calendar as 'read only'
2. iphone ical not updating automatically - you need to use the calendar in google to see if any new dates have been added since your last sync
Yay:
1. as its google - it will ACTIVELY share any new events on your iphone - at least in the google calendar (see 2)
So - all in all, a flawed 'pc-style' workaround sticking out conspicuously in an otherwise 'apple standard' experience.
At the moment it seems google calendars are a better bet than ical - this will not do.
Apple! Deal with it please - shared calendars between users first - then you can worry about 'push' updating later.

Sharing data between two separate user sessions

Hi all!
I have been trawling my brain for a solution to this - any help will be appreciated!
I would like to create a single instance of a class but share that instance over more than one user session (two separate users but both running concurrently).
Just as you can pass data between sessions using ABAP memory - I would like to pass data (specifically an object reference) between two separate users that could even be logged in to two separate application servers...
Even a mini Client/server solution would suffice but I cannot figure one out!
Is this possible?

sorry thats not possible. Sharing a data item / object instance requires at least a common physical memory. As this is not guaranteed between different app. server this is technical not possible.
With release 640 ABAP offers the new feature Shared Objects. These mechanism allows access by different users and some propagation to differnt servers.There is an interesting article on the ABAP SDN homepage

For relases below more or less the database is the only chance to store data accross application servers (known to me). One exception might be the ENQUEUES which might (mis)used to store some Flags.

Confused about sharing music between two ipods

I have a 30GB ipod video, and I bought my husband an 8GB nano for Christmas. I have been searching the threads trying to figure out how we can share music, but I seem to get conflicting information. I understand how to create separate libraries and I think I understand how to allow him access to my library (move itunes music folder into public folder?) but am still unclear about sharing music between ipods. Because in some of the posts, I have read that while you can share music and listen to it via multiple itunes libraries, you can ONLY listen to it on the computer--you cannot get it onto another ipod due to anti-piracy measures.
I know I could create a playlist for him in my library, but I like to autosync my ipod and I don't really want his music on mine, because the songs we BOTH like I've already imported into my itunes library. I was hoping to set up a separate library for him, import my music files into it, then let him delete the artists he's not interested in and add the music he wants that I don't. But I don't want to go through all that if he won't be able to play the shared songs on his own ipod.
I hope all this makes sense. Can someone who shares songs in this way give me some advice? Again, I would like for us to maintain separate libraries but I would like to make mine available to him so he doesn't have to reimport all the CDs I've already imported (and I don't want to waste computer space by having multiple copies of the same songs).

Ver easy to accomplish.
I have one library, two 4GB iPods and ~20GB of music.
Rather than duplicating libraries or creating separate user accounts/sharing music you can't load, etc. which simply takes up space on the disk drive, use the same library and use sync only what you want.
Create playlist(s) of your own music from the library.
Add/remove from those playlists as you want.
Connect your iPod, select it in iTunes and select the Music tab.
Select Sync music, Sync selected playlists and choose what you want.
The way I do it is I create a main playlist (Chris's Music) of music in the library that I like.
I also create a smart playlist (Not Chris's Music) and set it to Match Rule - Playlist is not Chris's Music.
This helps to manage my music by showing all music not in main playlist so I can browse for music I may have missed or now want to add.
I do the same for my daughters iPod except she gets to pick her own stuff.
This way whenever any music is added by either of us, it is available to the other with no problems.

Hi Anjali,
I am assuming that by reconiliation you mean to check if the data in the two cubes is matching or not. If this is your requirement, then you can create a report in BEX Query designer, in the columns put dataprovider and below that put the keyfigures, and in the row you can put the characteristics for which you would like to reconcile the data for.
Run the report and compare both the columns.

File Sharing problem between two macs on the same network.

Have a iMac and a Mac Mini and a MacAir on the network. We have file sharing turned on on all 3. The Mac Mini keeps popping up a error message that states "There is a problem connecting to a Server "iMac". However the Mac Mini is connected to the iMac and is sharing files between the two.

This has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
