Sharing requires more memory to be available

I have done hours and hours of imovie and never gotten this prompt before.....
Why suddenly does this appear and prohibit any sharing options?????

Hi
To be able to Share - iMovie, iDVD and Mac OS needs space
• for calculations (temp. files)
• to store result - the Shared file.
and this space has to be on - the Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk - only one that can be addressed to take this.
So free up space on Your Main - Start-Up drive to at least 25Gb free space as a minimum.

  • HELP!!! I did everything i could all day to fix this and i can't upload my video to youtube or export file because it keeps saying "sharing requires more memory to be available" How do i enable my movie to be uploaded or exported?

Question 1 / Plan A : When i finished making my movie project in iMovie 11 on Mac, i tried sharing it at all ways such as youtube, export, etc... it kept popping up: "sharing requires more memory to be available". I searched up all day on the internet on how to figure this out, i followed all of their advices but nothing seems to happen. btw i already got permitted for longer than 15 mins video on youtube. it's also weird that my computer has more than 600GB free space. So how do i upload my 2 hour video to youtube? and how do i avoid the popup of "sharing requires more memory to be available"?
Question 2 / Plan B: If plan A won't work out, i definitely don't wanna do this all over again because i took centuries and effort on this. What im trying to do is divide them to multiple projects, and maybe it will let me upload it because of it's file size? So how do i copy parts from a project and paste it to another project or event library so it would be easier for me to finish it in iMovie?
Question 3 / Plan C: If plan B won't work out, how do you screen record my movie with audio? What im trying to do is to record it by screen using quicktime and divide them by parts. I know how quicktime and soundflower works, but when i tried it, but the problem is that soundflower and quicktime audio was very crappy and broken at some point. So how do i record good quality audio with screen recording?
Question 4 / Plan D: If plan C won't work out, i guess the worst way to do this is to record from my phone, its such a bitter idea but i want this to be published in good quality. i am so tired and i took so weeks finishing this project and the ending results just ****** me off. Id be glad if someone has an idea on this problem im occurring. Hope y'all people and mac experts understood on what im struggling about. leave a reply on those of you who might have an idea on solving this problem!

When You select share, are you able to get either of these two windows?
    First one is Export As
Second one is Save as QuickTime
I looked at earlier post and see You have 4GB RAM,  maybe try a smaller format to convert it to,
then save it to file first before trying YouTube.

When I try to finalize my project a message pops up, "Sharing requires more memory to be available." How do I work this issue out?

    https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
Ah, it has been mentioned daily esp since iOS 5 / iTunes 10.5 but has always been there as an issue.
    Order of attempts:
    Repair the installers
Uninstall EVERY Apple component (auto and manual)
Services: Restart all 3 Apple items (AMS, Bonjour, iPod)
I* always do the last almost, then launch iTunes, and only then connect iPod.
IF you see a yellow alert in Devices and Printers or in Device Manager, then I could find NO WAY to fix or repair other than a clean OS. Something messed up the device driver support.
If/when Windows asks "what to do when it detects iPod"? don't chose any default action, to me, based on hunch and 3 PCs, that seems to mess AMS up for some reason.
Tried with Windows 7 64-bit Pro and Home Premium, and also Deve Preview 8 (which other than the inability to update iOS to 5.0 seems to run better -- except when it comes to AMS thing! so seems Apple is not on the same page writitng drivers.

  • Imovie error response "sharing requires more memory to be available

I have a mac pro and I'm trying to export a movie to my desktop
and I keep getting Sharing requires more memory to be available Quit Imovie and relaunch
does any one know how to fix I've tried several things but doesn't fix it

You have insufficient free space on your hard drive. You need at least 30GB.

  • When i try to finalize my iMovie, it says share requires more memory, quit imovie and relaunch.  Don't want to lose my project, how do I resolve the memory issue.  It's a new computer so there isn't much on it yet.

when i try to finalize my first movie project, i get the message that sharing requires more memory to be available and to close imovie and relaunch it.  This is a new computer and has nearly all it's memory free.  If I close, I will probably lose my project.  What am I not doing?

If you have Restricted your MAIN account in the perental controls that may be the reason. You may have to create a new Administrators account to change the settings on the parent controls.
Not sure as I have never used that feature on any computer I own.

  • IMovie Share Problem"...more memory to be available" Help!!

I'm working on a Lion with a Mac BookPro in iMovie 11.
I've gotten to the point with my project that I'm ready to share it and ran into a wall. When I try any of the Share option I get this message:
"Sharing requires more memory to be available. Quit iMovie and relaunch it"
I tried that like 100 times and nothing! Help!!!!
This project is a stopmotion video with a series of picture and audio clips.
The audio clips are housed on an extrenal drive, the picture on the desktop.
    Project is 1.07GB
I have 250GB available of the 500GB drive.
Is there some way else to boost the Memory???
    Anyone have this problem????

When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
    • iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
    • Creating a new User-Account and log into this - forces iMovie to create all pref. files new and error free
    • Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
    • a codec is used that doesn't work
    • problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
    • version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
    • preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
    • other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
    • External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
    • USB-flash-memories do not work
    • Net-work connected hard disks - do not work
    • iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
    This You do by
    _ close iPhoto
    _ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
_ now select all five options presented
_ WAIT a long long time
    • free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
    • external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
    • GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
    • Screen must be set to million-colors
    • Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
    • Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
    • Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
    • Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
    • In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
    buenrodri wrote
I solved the problem by removing the file: 3ivxVideoCodec.component. after that, up-dated iMovie runs ok.

  • Laserjet 5mp won't print 1 page, will print 3 others, more memory error

    Laserjet 5mp.
    Error message:
This job requires more memory than is available in this printer.
I have chosen Optimize For Portability
Available Postcript Memory is set to 3,000 kb, I have 3mb of memory.
    Only font is Arial.
I printed only the 1 page out of 4 pages, the other 3 pages printed.

You need to go into the driver properties and then device settings and under installable options you need to change duplex from not installed to installed.  Default is not installed.  I assume the printer is the duplex model.  If not then you are talking about manual duplex which may not be support under windows 8.

  • Internally required memory is not available in SMQ2

    Hi All,
In our XI Production server one message in SMQ2 (Inbound) has been stucked.
Error details "Internally required memory is not available ".
This IDOC is having a size of 552 MB, when I checked the sap fourms I found that there is one instance profile parameter which is req to process a large message.
    icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB
The parameter can also be used in the SAP Web Dispatcher.
    The default is 102 400 (100MB).
Do we need to set this parameter in our instance profile???
Currently this parameter is not present in our Production enviornment.
    Pls suggest.
    Regards,
    Prashant

I will suggest that if icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB  is not set then set this up with a value higher than the size of the stuck IDOC and give it a try.
now icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB is not dynamically switchable so you'll have to add the parameter via RZ10 and restart your system.
Also you can rad the XI tuning guide,

  • Further to requiring more than 3Gig of Memory

I thought users would find this interesting and maybe a person familiar canshed some light on this subject.
I have a 20 minute video with a combo of Pictures/ Sony HDV Video/ Shake and Motion. Producing an IDVD movie works fine however when I try to compress it to "H.264 60 minute default" there is FCP crashing and the compression terminates. In watching the RAM usage I notice a couple of things. First the Page outs are Zero until suddenly after about 6000-8000 frames the page outs grow rapidly and the Green RAM indicator shrink from 2 gigs free to virtually 30-60 megs and the page outs grow to the hunders of thousands. Sometime after this happens the FCP application will crash. Second, I have also noticed that the Compressord shows up from the time I start the process and shows red..."not responding". The Final Cut thread also moves in and out from Not responding. It almost appears as though the Compression processes faster than the computer can handle and then gives up. I Realize I require more than 3 Gigs of Ram but my previous IMAC never crashed doing a similar priocess with 2 Gig or Ram.
MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   FCP 5.1.4
MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

FCP RAM requirements, and for that matter, those of "Pro" apps, far exceed the memory needed for the likes of iMovie. All of the iLife apps are written in a way as to work across the board on Apples product line. The Pro apps are engineered to operate like they should...... capable of using a ton of memory, and expecting it. When they don't get it, they resort to paging to the hard drive. You may be able to "cripple" FCP by lowering the memory usage in Preferences, but why would you use a program with all that horsepower, and not feed it the memory it needs? If it works in iMovie, I would use it until you can add the appropriate amount of RAM the article hatter posted suggests. Just my two cents....

  • How do I add more memory to integrated video graphics on Satellite L30

I want to allocate more memory to my video graphics.
    How do I do this?
    I'm using Vista Home OS.
    Many thanks.

My laptop model is SL30 (PSL33) and I'd assumed it was shared graphics.
I've maxed the RAM to 2GB, but since upgrading to Windows 7, I keep getting video graphics error messages for games I could play before in Vista.
Toshiba doesn't seem to have an updated graphics driver for Windows 7 yet, and I'm guessing this is the problem.
Does integrated graphics simply use all the RAM you have available or do you have to manually increase it?

I'm trying to up grade the os but I keep getting the startup disk is full I ordered more memory I was told this will not help. What do I do?

I think as drive capacities increase, the old 10-15% becomes less accurate.  The amount of free space you need doesn't really have anything to do with the drive size.  So, increasing your drive size shouldn't mean that you need to have more free GB (which using a % of drive space would mean).  You need free space to accommodate page outs (the amount of which would depend on how much RAM you have installed and how memory intensive the applications are), sleep images (again, this would max out at your total amount of RAM), and a bit to minimize fragmentation.
With desktop drives commonly in the 2TB range today, it is certainly not necessary to have 200GB+ free in order to maintain proper operation.  I generally find about 30GB to be the minimum I'm comfortable with.  Mind you, I pretty much always have way more than that available.  But, if I'm working on a system and the amount of free space is at least 30GB, I would generally not site drive space as the cause of any performance issues.  I'd say that 30GB is a minimum for a stable system (with 8GB or RAM installed).  Of course at that amount, you would still need to free up space if you were to want to install or download any significant amount of data.
With servers being more likely to run into the 16GB of RAM range, more storage would be necessary.  Most servers should be well stocked with storage, but the actual needs would vary greatly depending on what's being "served".
The 10-15% thing came about when we used to talk about drive capacities in hundreds of MBs and RAM in terms of KB (not MB and certainly not GB).  More drive space is always a good thing, but as drive capacities continue to sky rocket, we don't need to dedicate larger amounts of storage on systems with the same specifications.  A set amount of space is required for proper operation regardless of the capacity of the drive installed.

Memory is not fixed for Oracle. You do not assign x GB of RAM to Oracle and the database will only use that much and no more.
The Oracle database engine consists of a number of processes. Each of these need a data segment. Each data segment (private process memory) can grow and shrink. And these data segments do not form part of the x GB of RAM that was assigned to Oracle's SGA (shared memory).
The number of these processes differ from instance to instance. There are management processes that Oracle will run from time to time. There is a job processing pool, a shared server processing pool and a parallel query processing pool. These can also grow and shrink. And on an instance running several jobs (and one that uses PQ processing), there will be more running processes than on another instances. Thus more private process memory will be used and less free server memory will be available on that server.
A single dedicated server process (created by the Listener to service a client connection) can also consume all available server memory - by running poorly designed and written PL/SQL bulk processing code that results in the private process memory of that dedicated process to continually grow. Hopefully this is not the case - but the fact is that a single server process can consume all available free server memory and more.
As the number of processes differ from RAC instance to RAC instance, it is the norm to see different amounts of memory utilisation on RAC nodes. Memory utilisation depends on the processing that RAC instance is currently doing.

  • Upgrade from OS X 10.3.9 to Leopard?  Do I need more memory?

I only have 256mb of memory and it says min requirement is 512mb. Can I add memory? And if so what is the procedure. I have a 1.8GHz PowerPC G5 with version 10.3.9 and I just purchased Leopard online and I didnt do my research before I purchased it. I haven't gotten it yet, but I just want to make sure that this upgrade is possible and if so, is there anything tricky about uploading the new software? Thank you

Yes, you can add more memory to your computer. The model you have is pre-2005 and can accommodate up to 4 GBs of RAM. Consult your computer's user manual to find out the exact RAM specifications your will need.
You have three choices for installing Leopard: Erase and Install, Upgrade Install, and Archive and Install. The first method obviously involves erasing the drive before installing Leopard. This will remove all your data. An Upgrade Install replaces all the files in your current installation with the new ones needed for Leopard but does not affect any of your other files. An Archive and Install archives your current system into a Previous System Folder and installs a fresh copy of Leopard. This would be the preferred approach as it provides a fresh copy of Leopard as you would get with an Erase and Install, but preserves all your files. This is the method I recommend.
Now, it's important that you make a backup of your current system to another internal hard drive or to an external Firewire drive. This should be a bootable backup just in case you run into a problem installing Leopard, then you can quickly restore your old system with all your files intact. You can make the bootable backup using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You will need a freshly erased backup drive. See the following:
How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the drive to which you will restore or backup.
Source means the drive you are restoring from or backing up.
After making the backup you can do the Archive and Install:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Do I need more memory for Parallels/Vista?

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro with a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 1 GB 667 MHz RAM running 10.4.10.
I installed Parallels 3.0 and Windows Vista. I also need to install Office. I would like to have Leopard installed once I am sure Parallels works with it (the Parallels people tell me I should wait a few weeks).
The problem is that when Parallels is running my Mac is sloooooowwwww as molasses in January. Last week it ran like a breeze but this week it's so slow I have to wait 2 minutes for my mouse to respond. The difference being that this week, I actually need to run applications.
Will upgrading the RAM take care of the problem, or will it do nothing for me?

I can vouch for this. Vista is a memory pig. Expect it to use over 512MB of RAM while idling. I've also tried running Windows XP in Parallels on an iMac with 1GB of RAM. With few applications running in OS X, and only doing updates in XP, all available memory is eaten up, and the machine acts like a dinosaur. In my opinion, to effectively run Parallels with Windows 2000 or above, _at least_ 1.5GB of system RAM is required. Anything less, and you're either gimping Windows (by assigning too little memory to the virtual machine) or the entire system (by assigning more memory).
On another note, if you're going to run anything remotely intensive (video or photo editing, or game playing) use Boot Camp instead.
