Sharing resources between computers

Here is the situation...
I used to have 2 computers connected to the same router (WRT55AG) which was used as an Internet Access point. All the ressources on each computer could be shared (Printers, folders, etc.) and everything worked fine.
I just bought a second router (WRT54G) that is now the Internet AccessPoint while my old WRT55AG is now connected to the new WRT54G. I have 1 computer connected to each of them. I cannot share the ressources anymore. I followed exactly the procedures high-lighted on this WEBsitewithout success.
Can someone point me to the procedure that would allow me to share these ressources? Since the WRT54AG have a local IP adress of 192.168.2.1 with the Internet Connection Type set to Automatic Configuration - DHCP, is that the reason why I can't share the ressources?

How do I share my bandwith so I can use my PS3 online and use my personal laptop computer through the same router, but not causing lag in either the computer or PS3 gaming. I know there is a way to do this and have them both work fine without paying for extra bandwith but I am unsure how to do this? Help Anyone?! Thanks

I use the DDK Toaster sample as a basis.
Has someone already shared resources between parent FDO and children PDO ?
One way will be to export a direct-call interface between tha parent and the children. Is there something better to get the interrupt trigger in the child and the memory as a direct access ?

Is sharing resources between MIDlets possible?

Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to share the resources that are packaged with MIDlets with other MIDlets. If it isn't, then is there a way to "update" the resources within a midlet package without actually deleting and reinstalling the whole application in the device?

sharing of ressources between 2 midlets is possible as long as they are both part of the same midlet suite.
updating is not possible, means to update you need to install the update jar file.

Sharing Aperture between Computers

Hi,
Can anyone please let me know how I can share an Aperture 3 collection across multiple computers?
I have an iMac at home that is used by all family members for downloading photos from various digital cameras into (and I am sorry that I don't know the exact term) a folder that is readable through the finder, rather than into a bucket that is controlled only by Aperture. This was done as not all of us use Aperture only to manage and manipulate our photos.
I then own a MacBookPro and would like to get photos from the iMac so primariliy I can see them on the laptop, but also so that if I want to, I can manipulate them on it as well and have the changes sync back to the desktop?
You'd think that'd be easy, right? Nope, not as far as I can see. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If you're not keeping the original photos in the library i.e. you've configured your library to use referenced masters, you'll still need to take a copy of (or the original of) the Aperture library (the database and other stuff you don't normally see) and work with that copy/original on your MBP.
The library will be much smaller (as it doesn't contain the masters) but approaches discussed above still apply.
Note also that moving your masters to a NAS will result in potentially annoying pauses while you're working with your photos, particularly if you're accessing your NAS via wifi. There's also a suggestion in the previously linked KB article that storing referenced masters on FAT32 can result in the files occasionally going offline. Another irritant is that your aren't guaranteed to mount the volume containing the referenced masters using the same path (similar to the drive letter assigned by windows). This means Aperture may not be able to find the referenced masters until you manually re-link them (in their "new" location) via Aperture.
I'd also note that no NAS I'm aware of actually lets you choose to format the shared volumes as HFS+ so don't be tempted to put the library on the NAS.
I've tried pretty much everything discussed in this thread. The only reliable solution I found after spending stupid amounts of time on recovering damaged libraries and money on network/NAS/servers is to use a removable disk.

Sharing music between computers

I don't know if this is the right forum, but I have a sharing issue. I have an iMac desktop and a PC laptop networked through an airport express. The music library on the iMac will load on the laptop, but not the other way around. When I try to load the library from the laptop onto the iMac ( the name of the laptop does show up on the source list) I get the message" cannot load contents of the library -3259" and some firewall suggestions. The firewall on the mac is not on. Any ideas on how to fix?

Locate the song files on one computer by right-clicking a song, transfer them over as they were any other type of file, and drag them into the open iTunes window.

Sharing catalogs between computers which include tags

We have about 10,000 photos to scan from my Mother's old albums (80 years of photos). We each have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. We want to split the photos up and each of us tag different photos (using same tag names) and then be able put it all together so that each of us have the same photos with the same tags. How can we do this?

Since there is no feature to merge catalogs in PSE11, you'll have to use a simpler workflow.
The idea is to do the scanning and tagging separately, and finally choosing the smaller catalog to prepare the import into the bigger catalog.
A few tips :
- Choose which catalog will be the final one and which will be the one from which the files will be imported into the main catalog
- A good idea would be that on the smaller one, you create a dedicated scanning master folder. If the files are saved on an external drive, that will make the import easier.
- Do as much organizing as you can : tagging, setting capture date and adding captions (very important for scans), star rating. You may want to rename files according to various presets.
- You can start with the same tags hierarchy in both computer : it can be saved as a text file and restored on the other computer
- When you are ready, you 'write metadata' to files so that the importing computer gets them back.
- Remember that you can't get back albums, version sets or stacks by writing metadata to files. So, use tags instead of albums; for version sets or stacks, maybe flatten them to keep the last (best) version at the import stage.
- Now, you can import all the files in the final catalog. If the files to import are on an external drive, there is no copy needed to the final computer. Otherwise, you have to transfer them as you prefer. In that case I would favor a full backup of the smaller catalog to an external drive and a restore on a new master folder on the final computer.
- Once you have done the import on the final computer, you'll have to share your work (catalog and full picture collection) with the owner of the first computer : I recommend a full backup to external drive of the final catalog and a restore to the smaller one.

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)
What am I doing wrong ?

ITunes Library shared between computers?

I have an iMac (OSX Lion) with two user accounts that are both sharing the same iTunes Library. We now have a Macbook Air with the same user accounts. The Macbook Air obviously does not have the same hard drive space and I therefore did not choose to migrate the library to the Air...What is the best way for each user to access the shared iTunes folder from the iMac? I would like to do this while on the same LAN as well as remotely if possible.
I assume that simply setting iTunes up for "Sharing" will handle the local area question, but what about while we are away from home? I assume that iCloud with iTunes Match would be the only answer?

Rented movies cannot be shared between computers. They can only exist on a single device at a time, and can only be moved from a computer to a player such as an iPod, iPhone or Apple TV. You cannot move a rental from one computer to another.

Home Sharing, 9.0.2 and Copying Between Computers

I've upgraded to the new iTunes version and can no longer copy files between computers. Unfortunately, when I try to drag a file over from the library, it will not drag (previously no problem with this function).
I've followed all of the "help" pages I could locate and searched the forums (2 hours for these processes), checked all connections and can load the library from the "other" computers. I've also noticed some function buttons are missing on the lower right hand corner as instructed in various help screens.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

This shouldn't be a problem as long as you are using the same iTunes account with another computer.
The problem is in regards to iTunes content including apps - iTunes content can be synced or transferred to an iPhone from a single computer only.
If you try to sync your iPhone with iTunes content on another computer, the iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased first before the content will be re-transferred to your iPhone - even when using the same iTunes account, so I'm not sure what would be gained by doing this unless you want to start using another computer for syncing iTunes content with.

WRT160n not sharing between computers

My router allows both my laptop and desktop to connect to the internet, but I can not share files or for that matter even connect the two together. I am trying to set them up for gaming but they don't "see" each other. I have tried using the USB method of connecting, but keep getting an error. I have disabled Norton and Windows firewall but that did not change anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Turn on File Sharing in System Preferences - Sharing, then you should be able to see them in the other Macs' Finder sidebars (under Shared). Click on them, click Connect As, and log in with the user credentials you're sharing from.
