Sharing Screens in MacBook Air

Hi,
I Have a MacBook Air from 2010 with OSX Lion, 1,86 ghz Intel core duo and 2GB RAM. I am not able to use Sharing screens. I have a makbook from 2008 , with Lion too, and i haven't any problem to use  Sharing screens with the macbook air. Anybody can hlep me?
Thnak you so much

What you want to do is very possible and done every day all around the world. But to do that you must have passwords on the users accounts you are trying to access on the other computer and login to that other computer not use the Guest account. Since these are both your Mac's you shoud have the same Username and use the same password for that username account on both. This makes it much simpler to logon to the other computer.

  • Trying to use my home sharing on new macbook air, but I physically can't drag the songs into my music. What do I need to do to change this?

Basically, I've set up my home sharing between my macbook air, and our mac mini at home. The home sharing option shows up on both computars, and the music is visable and available to listen to when I bring it up on home sharing from the mac mini, but when I try to actually drag the music over to my music on my macbook. Both of our itunes are completely up to date. Is there any way to fix this?

*When I try to drag over the music, it won't let me. That's what I meant to say.

How to turn off screen on Macbook Air when connected to Led monitor screen?

The only way you can turn it off is to close the lid - so you would need an external wired or wireless keyboard and mouse/trackpad attached.

  • I am trying to set up internet sharing from my macbook air but there does not seem to be an option for this because the air is connected to the internet via wifi connection. Is it possible to still share this?

I am trying to set up internet sharing from my macbook air but there does not seem to be an option for this because the air is connected to the internet via wifi connection. Is it possible to still share this?

It depends upon how the other machines are connecting to your MBA:
If the the other machines are also using wi-fi, they can connect directly to the wireless access point (router) without going through your MBA
If the other machines are connecting to the MBA using ethernet you can share your wi-fi connection to them

  • HT5922 Volume control Itunes Shared Library from Macbook air played through iPad

    Hi everyone,
I am using iPad Air to airplay through use of iTunes shared library from Macbook, to Play to my Apple TV using the Remote App from apple on the iPad.
I noticed that the swipe up control screen volume control does not affect the volume on my speakers of the Denon which is perfectly connected with apple tv. The only thing which controls the volume is the Denon volume control.
The iTunes  volume control on the Macbook also do not work with Apple TV when airplaying
I assume this is because of the Denon Reciever, but would like to hear if others who are connecting directly without a multimedia amplifier and speakers are also unable to raise volume using itunes control or not?
Thans in advance for any feedback given.

I think this may be a clue to the problem. When you purchased the MBA did you restore any of your personal data from a prior backup? In particular, did you restore any prior data in the Music folder?
Or, did you simply launch iTunes and enable iTunes Match?

  • Sharing content between macbook air and imac

    Hi there,
I appreciate this is a naiive question but i want to share content from my imac to my macbook air (music and photos not on my stream). Everything (calendars etc.) is all synched up using the cloud but can I simply connect my macbook air to my imac and drag away?
    That seems too simple!

If you want to share just a few gigabyte of data and aren't concerned about putting stuff in the cloud, consider DropBox. Or....
    1) Open System Preferences on both computers & select the Sharing tab
    2) In the left side of the dialog box there's a list of sharing services. Turn on File Sharing (I also use Screen Sharing which lets me control one Mac with the other. Convenient at times) In the top give each computer a meaningful name if you haven't already.
    3) Give the computer a minute or two and then from one computer (doesn't matter which) open a Finder window and look under the shared are of the sidebar. (You may need to turn on the shared devices in the Finder preferences)
    4) in the dialog box enter the user name and password for the computer you are trying to share not the computer you are logging in from.
    5) you'll get a window of your user directory and from there you can find the data you want to copy onto your computer. You can also copy data from the computer you are using onto the computer you are sharing.

Did you purchase your MacBook Air new?  Do you still have its box?  Locate its serial number and telephone Apple at the number shown at the bottom of this page (1-800-MY-APPLE if you're in the U.S.).  They can help you.

  • Intermitent Black screen on macbook air

My macbook air screen goes black whilst working.  It comes back but it appears to stay black longer now.  I also have had the screen go grey with an alarm sound.  Has anyone experienced this?  Should I worry ?

I would take it to the Apple store and have it checked out.  That doesn't sound like an option that can be changed.

  • Sharing Photos on Macbook Air

My wife and I now have a new Macbook Air with two user accounts (both Admin level).
My wife has an iPhone and I now have an iPhone & iPad.
I loaded all our historical photos onto her account (from our old shared MS running laptop).
The photos from my iPhone/iPad loads up into my account
and the photos from her iPhone load up into her account.
Obviously, if I want to access our historical photos I can logon to her account But is there an easier way?
How does file sharing work and would this allow us to easily share photos (& files, etc).
    Many thanks...
Obviously, we are new to Apple laptops and systems although have been using iPhone and iPad for some time.

  • Get VGA screen on macbook air

    Hello,
I have an embeded device called "eBox 3350MX" which has a VGA port (RS-232 / Serial). Now, I found that PL2303 cables give Mac's connectivity USBtoSERIAL which is good. However, what I want to know is if there's a software that will allo me to get the output of the embedded device on the mac screen, on a sort of terminal window etc.
Otherwise I'll have to buy a JTAG cable and try to connect to the device console, which something I never done before. The problem is that I don't have access to any other stable computer, just the macbook air.
    Best Regards
    ps. I'm on Lion.

    Hello William,
Thanks for the reply. I'm an ignorant when it comes to hardware and connectors/adapters.
Then as I see it, my options are:
a PL2303 USB-to-Serial cable and then a so-called J-tag cable which enables the 'console' on the device along with specific software which will permit me to read the output
Buy a low cost VGA screen and watch the output on the screen
The 2nd choice might be optimal if I find something small and sleek as I will be able to display some info like weather conditions, headlines etc.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Did someone have problems with the screen of macbook air?

HI, I have been since august without my macbook air, that i bought on february of this year (2011), because my screen have a scratch since i came back form China in august. My explanation is the differences of temperature between the to countries.
The true is that here in Chile the costumer services of "MacOnline" (the store) is the worst, they had my mac since august and i hadnt even receive an email from them. I've already spoken to the Chief of operation from maconline,, but not even her have given me an answer for my problem. I have my guarantee till next february and i'm afraid that i wont have my mac for another year. Does someone have a tip for this situations?
    Thanks,
    Hector

    Hi Hector,
It sounds like the first thing you need to do is get your machine back from MacOnline. There's absolutely no reason it should take close to five months for any service on the machine. That being said, I don't see Chile listed for contact information here - http://www.apple.com/support/country/
However if you want to make the toll call to Apple (US) and explain the situation and your experience with MacOnline I'd like to believe that they can offer their best assistance towards an alternative.

  • Sharing files between MacBook Air

    Hi!
I am a designer, and I have an iMac and a MacBook Air (both purchased new within the last year).
I work on each machine equally, and I'm having trouble accessing the right file at the right time.
I have figured out sharing to an extent - I am now able to pick up files that are saved on my Air on my iMac, but am not able to save them back to the Air (not even sure if this is possible?).
Is there a way that I can do this? I'm ending up with duplicate files, or newer versions saved in different places. As a temporary solution I've been saving files I know I'll need on both machines to my DropBox account, but I'm not sure whether this is a good idea to use this as a total solution to the problem?
Any help/advice would be very much appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Cerries

  • Macbook pro screen vs macbook air screen - Color "capability"?

    Hi,
I've been trying to find information comparing the late 2011 15" Macbook Pro with high-res screen vs the 11" or 13" macbook air screens but I could only find one answer saying that the color gamut on the MBP is much better (wider) that on the MBA.
I think I've been around the other factosr (speed, memory, weight, size, etc..) between MBP and MBA but the last thing I wanted to figure out was the screen. I am into photography and I wanted an Apple laptop that shows the "best" colors. I think that will definitely make an enormous difference in my decision between MBP and MBA.
Any thougts on that? Maybe you know some tests that have been done on color rendition?
I was going to post this in the MBA discussion section but I thought I'd see what kind of feedback I can get here first.
    thanks a lot!!

The MacBook Pro 13" screen resultion is1440 x 900 which is actually higher than the 13" MacBook Pro, which has a 1280 x 800 screen. In fact, the MBA 13's resolution is equivalent to the MBP 15's resolution, which is also 1440 x 900.  So, if you are looking at that point, and that point only, the 13" MBA is pretty nice.  It's the lack of a dedicated graphics card, limited RAM (I believe it's soldered into the motherboard), slower CPU (dual core i5), no Super Drive and a few other things that swing it over to the 15"MBP.
I think the MBA has it's place.  It's a big step above the iPad in usability.  But it's a big step down from the upper end of the MBP platform.  The only place where it gets close to flipping a coin is the 13" MBP vs. MBA.  I'd take the MBA almost every time.

  • Screen bug macbook air 11 inch

    MacBook Air (11-inch, begin 2014)
    OSX 10.10.3 (14D136)
Hello, when saving a document (specially via preview) or sometimes when I want to print - the screen doesn't show the entire window (so you can't see the 'save' or 'cancel' or 'print' button. Scrolling doesn't work either - so you have to guesstimate and use the tab button and just click and hope it works.
Does anyone recognize this, and is there a solution?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Zoom is also controlled by  (Apple menu) System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom.
If you cannot control your screen well enough to access System Preferences, press the key chord command option 8. That will toggle zoom on / off.
