Sharing Songs

Alright so I'm sitting here on my Macbook Pro, and my girlfriend is sitting next to me on her Gateway laptop. Our itunes libraries show up on each computer. Is there a way I can get her songs on my computer and vice versa? I'm sure this is asked thousands of times but I couldn't find it. We are on a wireless connection and we both have our libraries on sharing and stuff. Thanks.

I am able to share songs with my pc pal by just sharing folders while on AIM (aol instant messanger), but its just individual songs not a whole library. hope this helps a little.

  • Wont play some shared songs

Ipad2 wont play some shared songs,   I have an album that i can play shared with all my other devices, but when i try to play this album on my ipad2 it skips over the fist 3 songs and starts playing on the 4th,
The first 3 songs play fine everywhere else

I am also experiencing this problem with my new iPod Touch, and I have followed the steps at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1510 to no avail. Does anyone have a recommendation that will fix this? I am beginning to believe it is a defect in the iPod software and that it needs to be addressed in a new release.

  • Authorizing Shared Songs on a Shared Computer

I am trying to play shared songs on my laptop, which our housed on my Mac Pro. When clicking to play I am told the computer is not authorized. I then type in my Apple ID and password. I am then told "this computer is already authorized. Including this one, you have authorized 2 computers out of our available 5." It doesn't make any sense. Can anyone help??? Thank you in advance.

I see. You're not playing songs purchased by another user, but rather your music from another machine using your own ID and password.
I have no clue what's up with that.
Oh wait, I have no idea how sharing works since I don't do it, but are you sure it's asking for your Apple ID and password and not the user ID and password for the other computer?

The process for sharing libraries is much [easier in iTunes 8|http://forums.macworld.com/thread/105366?tstart=0]. If you simply want to share a few songs, you are better off having a copy of those tracks in each of your libraries, but there is little point to that as you can access each other’s libraries in read-only fashion.

  • I am home sharing songs from my computer (library) to another authorized computer (library), the songs will import, but once i sync the iphone (4s) to this computer the songs are shaded and will not import onto the iphone, what the heck is going on?

I am transfering songs from one computer to another using home share.  Both machines are authorized in home sharing.  The songs import from (my) windows computer to the other (my wifes) authorized MacBook Pro, computer just fine.  Once the songs are in the library and i try to sync her Iphone (4s) to her computer the songs ar greyed out and i can't play them nor see them under iPhone after sync is complete.  What the heck is going on?  BTW, the songs that i have imported are either songs i burned from a CD or songs i have purchased from the iTunes store, so they should sync no problem!?  Help please.

  • When home sharing songs are transferring at an extremely low speed. why is this happening??

    Hi
I shared my library with my Husband's library using the same apple id. I then tried to copy songs from that library to mine. But the songs are transferring at a ridiculously low speed. When he copied the songs from my library it did not take as much time. Can you please tell me why this is happening?? Is this a problem with the itunes??

Hi systemBuilder, you are not alone in your frustration. The problem is the plugin model: plugins are allowed to do much more than they can be trusted to do intelligently. Without a change to that, Firefox cannot stop the Flash player from changing window focus.

  • ITunes wont Trasfer shared songs to my other PC

Hi, I am trying to transfer songs from my desktop to my laptop. Both computers are authorized, both have home sharing on, both are logged into my iTunes account. Both are the latest version of iTunes. I can see and listen to the shared libraries of both computers, but the transfer songs action is no longer available. I have no idea why.
I have been able to transfer songs in the past (only did like 5 to test it out), but not any more. I really need to have the music transfered to my laptop so I can reformat and install Windows 7 onto my desktop.
    Thanks in advance.

    I have same problem.

  • HT1947 How do I save a shared song to my device?

I have turned on home sharing and even downloaded the remote app so I have access to my desktop itunes library. I can stream but is there any way to save a song from the shared library onto my device?

Hi del5662009. This should explain more. http://www.idownloadblog.com/2011/11/06/ios-5-delete-songs-music-app/. And even after you delete a song from your idevice, it will stay in the cloud. Sorry for my poor spelling in the last post. Hope this helps! Cheers.

  • Sharing songs over LAN with PC

I have a iMac which is connected to a LAN. My wife has a PC also on the LAN. I would like to share iTune songs between the 2 computers. I have set up sharing and we can see and play songs from each others computers but can"t copy the files between libraries. We are buying songs from the same iTunes account. My account info says "one computer is authorized". How can I set this up to copy songs between the computers?

If you read this article, you will see why this is not a completely straightforward matter :
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive
The short answer is that you will both need individual and separate Libraries as the Mac and PC formats for the iTunes Library database file are incompatible. However, you could keep an iTunes Music folder on the LAN, each of you adding songs to it, but you will have to Add to Library any songs added by the other even though they are in the same Music folder. Also, the songs must not be in formats that the other computer cannot see, such as WMA (PC only) or Apple Lossless (Mac only).
As for buying songs from a single account, that is not a problem - if each computer is Authorised to that account, you can download music to ONE computer then copy and play it on the other also.

  • Certain shared songs not showing under ios but share fine to itunes under mac os x

I'm sharing my music library from an up to date itunes (11.0.1) under mac os x (10.6.8). Certain songs/albums are not visible when I access the shared library from an iphone 4s (fully updated) but show up and play just fine when accessed from other mac os x machines?
Any ideas what could be the problem?
    Thanks

    Here's the troubleshooter:

It looks like the pertinent tips are:
    Disconnect other USB devices
    Restart your Mac.

  • Sharing songs with seperate users

We have three users all using iTunes, each with their own iPod. Is there anyway to share songs between users so they can be downloaded on each others iPods, without having to store them serperately on each user account?

There has been reported problems with iPhoto losing some functionality when a non-English language is used as the default for the computer. That may be what you're running into. If you can, try changing the default language to English and see if the sharing will be allowed. OT

  • Transfer shared songs from itunes to iphone

my brother sent me some shared music from his itunes library to my computer and I now have the songs on my itunes library. How do I transfer those songs onto my iphone?

If this "shared" music is music bought from iTunes, presumably it is associated with a apple ID and would probably refuse to load for another apple ID? I think Apple changed it's DRM too, so maybe modern downloads might work while older ones might not. Hard to say without knowing more.
