Sharing to AppleTV via itunes..need to get it to another itunes that synchs

Is there any reason why i can't just copy the file to an external drive and then re-import it to the itunes that is synched with my apple tv? The workflow has changed with imovie9 vs imovie 6

yes it did:) now tomorrow i burn it to idvd and check that workflow. Then i add a theme and see what it does to the quality of the play back. oh how fun.....:)

  • How Do I Get Music From Another Computer That Already Has ITunes/Ipod insta

Here's the story - I have a Video Ipod. I have music on it from my ITunes that I installed on my computer (PC). My sister has her own computer with her own itunes and her own ipod installed on it (same model Ipod and same version Itunes and also a PC). I want her music. I want it on my Ipod. How do I do this?
When I connected my ipod to her computer it said that another user was using Ipod software and that they had to log off before it would recognize my ipod. How do I do this without affecting her Itunes/Ipod settings? Help? Thank you....

what you are asking is illegal.. sharing music is illegal.

  • Sharing a playlist via Itunes Internet with someone at a distanct

I'm wondering if it's possible to privately share an Itunes playlist with a friend across the country via the Itunes website or other means. If so, is there a fee from the Itunes store? Is it private or are we at risk for viruses?
According to the Itunes IPod tutorial, it appeared that playlists could be shared via the Internet, but no info was given, nor could I find any that would indicate the complete process to do this.
I'll be thankful for all of your assistance

  • How can I see my iphoto pictures on AppleTV via itune?

When I choose "Photo sharing preferences" in itune I can't see my picture folders from iphoto. There are zero photos available whereas I have thousands...  Home sharing is turned on. It seems that the picture library cannot be found.

when your phone is plugged in, on itunes you click your device. and on the device summary page, there are 4-5 tabs. one of the tabs is photos. you can choose the photos file you want to add to your phone there.

  • If I'm trying to change countries and I need to get rid of a balance that is insufficient for anything in the iTunes store, what should I do?

I'm trying to switch my iTunes account to a different country but I have $0.29 left on my account that iTunes is telling me I must spend before I can change countries. Obviously, 29 cents will not buy me anything in the store, thus the money will be just sitting there forever. Please help.

  • Help.... need to get rid of 3000 photos that have been copied/duplicated by mistake

    I have 5000 photo's but it shows I have 8000 items.
A lot of my photo's have some how duplicated/copied.  How can I get rid of these, apart from manually checking each one, clicking and trashing, as this will take forever as they are all over the place.  Is there a quicker way to get rid of these unwanted photo's.

Where are you seeing these "duplicates"?
    How did this happen?
The easiest way is to go to your backup from before it happened
Duplicate annihilator - http://www.brattoo.com/propaganda/ - is a good program to assist - as always backup prior to running

  • I need DVD Studio Pro and another app that can do .*** or .ssa Files

Are there any good Mac OS X apps (preferably free to cheap?) that will export .*** or .ssa files of my subtiles?

To answer the question of why retail DVDs look so good... because they have more money at their disposal. You don't really think these are compressed with a program included with a $79 suite? Or even DVDSP. Commercial DVDs typically use a hardware encoder. And they ain't cheap.
In any case, we would need a better defination than "looks like sh*t". Color? Transistions? Pixelated? What resolution are you using? Next, are you using any motion (Ken Burns effect) on the images. If not, you should, even if only a little. DV was developed for moving images, not stills. I create slideshows fairly regularly with acceptable reuslts. Either we need to find something in your workflow, or maybe you do have too high an expectation. This may provide some insights into the complexities of a DVD:

  • App Updates not available on 3G but are via iTunes

In addition to the widely reported (here) issues of previous versions of applications appearing on the App Store update feature of my iPhone 3G, and 'ghost' updates being available via iTunes that aren't presented when trying to download them, I'm also finding that:
a lot of application updates simply aren't getting to me. A search via the iPhone App Store application shows a newly released version, with the 'purchase' option enabled, rather than a greyed out 'installed'.
Also, iTunes will show available updates (confirmed), but my iPhone 3G App Store Update shows no updates being available.
Is there a way to reset the application database on the iPhone 3G to once again get the update function working correctly?

One thing that might help out.
On the iphone go to :
Home Screen > Settings > General > Reset.
    Reset all settings.
    Hope this helps.

  • Aperture 3 and face syncing via iTunes

    Hello,
is there any way to sync Aperture 3 Faces with an iPhone and an AppleTV via iTunes, just the way it is possible with iPhoto?
If not, is there any ETA on this functionnality?
    Thanks.

I eventually resolved this myself by resetting sync history ... at least I guess that did it.

  • I have a mac book pro osx 10.7.5. Do I need to get anti-virus security software

I have a mac book pro osx 10.7.5. i do not have a virus checker. Do I need to get anti-virus security software that will protect against the new virus? And what would you recommend.
    Thanks

There will always be a "new virus". Is this the recent threat you are concerned about?
    http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-27681236
It only affects Windows PCs, which is usually the case.
have a mac book pro osx 10.7.5. i do not have a virus checker.
Those two statements contradict each other. OS X 10.7.5 already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple. Installing third party "anti-virus" software cannot possibly protect you from all threats, whether they exist today, or may occur at any time in the future. Such products are far more likely to cause random instability, crashes, loss of data, time, money, or all the above, while providing nothing other than a misplaced sense of complacency - a threat all to itself.
The sky is perpetually falling for so-called "news" outlets. It has been so for many people since the beginning of time, and it will remain so for all eternity. Don't confuse fearmongering with becoming informed.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Rent via iTunes or Apple TV

I want to take advantage of my cable connection on uploading rented movies. Instead of renting from Apple TV (though I have and plan around it), if there is something we wish to rent spur of the moment can I rent via itunes and synch to Apple TV? I know some are playable shortly after ordering, but had one movie that said ready to play and was choppy/stopping due to buffering...
    Thanks!

yes you can rent via itunes... but only SD.
HD rentals are only available via AppleTV.

  • Need help getting ipod/phone videos onto a DVD that will play in my dvd player

I have so many videos on my old ipod and my two iphones. I need to get them onto a DVD that will play in my dvd player because they are all the videos I have of my kids when they were babies(bad I know!) So I bought iLife and have iDVD and a macbook pro laptop. Would anyone be willing to write step by step what i need to do to get them onto a DVD as I am very new to all the technology these days. Thank you so much in advance

First you need to get them onto your Mac.  Use image capture and download them to a folder on the Desktop.  Next, you need a video DVD authoring program.  IMO iDVD is the best.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Softwareor eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the download movie files into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.  Some themes will only allow 6 items per menu, including sub menus, others up to 10 I believe.  Sub menus can always be added to add more movies to the project. This is an example of a project with multiple slideshows/movies and menus:
IMPORTANT:  iDVD is not concerned with the size of the media files in regards to what the iDVD disk can hold.  All that's important is the total playing time of all of the movie files including the menus.  A single layer DVD disc can hold up to 120 minutes of playing time.  A double layered disk 240 minutes.  IMO it's best to go with multiple single layered disks.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Where do I find the websites stored as my homepage and how do I select one of them if I need to get just it back and not all of them?

I have three websites as my homepage, but often once I have worked within one tab for awhile and gone to other sites, I need to get back to the site that is there when my homepage tabs first pop up. I may not have even touched the other two tabs, but if I click on the Home button, I get three new tabs with the three websites that make up my homepage. I then have to delete three tabs to keep just what I want. In IE, the Home button has a pulldown, which allows me to select any one of my homepage websites, and loads that site on the current tab. Can this be done with FF?

The only way I know to achieve this would be to create three separate bookmarks on the Bookmarks toolbar and click on a one that you want to load in the current tab. You can also try to right-click the Back arrow and click the entry at the bottom of the list to return to the first page.

  • Why I can't buy software via itunes

Why it is not possible to buy mac software using itunes, I would love to upgrade to the latest version of ilife but because I have to go to a store and buy the complete package I have not buy it, if I would be able to upgrade or buy software via itunes I would already upgraded to ilife 09.
Why you can buy movies, iphone apps, music, etc, etc, but Apple has not created a software section to buy any software for the mac via itunes that would be great.

Apple has a different online store for computer software; to access it, click here and then on the link for your country. The iTunes Store is meant for content which can be used on iTunes, iPods, and iPhones, and not as a general software source.
