Sharing to FLICKR

I received Photoshop Elements for Christmas.  I cannot get photos ot share to Flickr.  Facebook was no problem.  Sometimes I get an error saying there is nternet connection problem or the firewall might be blocking access.  This doesn't make sense as sharing to Facebook worked.  I also noticed that my photo (I only tried one) did not post correctly to photoshop.com.  Anyone know what might be going on?

I have the same problem. PSE 10 on Windows 7. This workaround worked for me. Download and install the Flickr uploader. Start it, and get to the upload window where you can drag and drop photos to it. Then drag the selected photos straight from PSE organizer into the uploader window. Works for me. But the tagging seems inconsistent.

  • Sharing to flickr doesn't push the metadata of modified photos

In iPhoto 09, we can share photo on flickr.
There is a very annoying problem though. If a photo has been modified in iPhoto, the metadata is lost (well, it's not lost really, since it's kept in a database outside of the file) but the file corresponding to the working copy of the photo doesn't contain the metadata of the original file. Although this is very annoying for many reasons, I understand that one photo in iPhoto is not necessarily 1 file. Fine.
The problem is that contrary to when a photo is exported, the metadata is not added to a photo that is shared on flickr (using the new 09 "share to flickr feature").
It works correctly when sharing on facebook though.
Here is a very basic scenario:
Take a photo in "landscape" mode and another in "portrait" mode.
Import them in iPhoto. Normally, the one in "portrait" mode will be rotated automatically by iPhoto so that it is displayed as it was meant to be display (great).
Select those 2 photos and share them on flickr.
The one in portrait mode will not have a "date/time taken" so the value will be the same as for "date/time uploaded". The one in "landscape" mode should be fine.
I think this is because the file that is shared for the picture in landscape mode is still the original file while the one for the portrait photo is a working copy that doesn't contain the metadata.
Is this a bug? Any chances to get a fix?

    I believe so.
I have done some more tests and it looks like only the photos that have been rotated automatically because they were taken in portrait mode are affected.
For example, the pictures that I have modified in iphoto are exported AND shared on flickr with all the metadata. So it is not a matter of having a working copy of the original photo or having the original photo file.
It is really only for pictures that were taken in portrait mode.
I have done this simple test:
I import a photo that was taken in portrait mode, and export it with all the possible information check box checked (including location)
=> the exported photo doesn't contain the "generated date" and contains very little metadata (it does contain the location though).
I then go back to iPhoto, and "revert" the photo "to original". It doesn't appear to change, and it still is displayed in portrait mode. But now if I export it, the export contains the full metadata.
If I export a photo that got heavy modifications but that was taken in landscape mode, all the metadata is there.
So it really looks like a bug related to the "portrait" automatic orientation. The metadata is lost somehow...

  • Photos App - Sharing to Flickr

I'm trying to share some photos to Flickr using this new Photos app (I used to use iPhoto) and I have the following problems:
If I select too many then the Flickr option doesn't appear.
If I reduce the number I can then see the Flickr option but sharing to Flickr just shows a progress bar saying something like 'preparing image x of y'.
If I reduce the number further (down to 20 or so) then once the progress bar disappears I'm given an option to choose which Flickr album I'd like to upload to. There's no option to create a new album so I have to log in to Flickr via a web browser first to create an album before I can select it through this Photos app.
Is there anything I can do with this app or do I just have to wait until it has been fixed? I understand it's new but couldn't they have released it through a Beta channel first?
I thought it was maybe a quirky image that was breaking it but I've managed to share an entire album by performing 10 or so small batches of uploads.

My concern is what happens when I try and share a photo to Flickr from the new Photos App - is this going to reset all my photos that have been previously shared to Flickr
    It hasn't for me.

  • Aperture strips GPS from Sharing to Flickr despite Preferences

Exporting images ("Sharing" them) from Aperture to Flickr (and also to Smugmug) strips the GPS data so that in Flickr and Smugmug no location is shown. Aperture Preferences are set to Include location info in exported photos. Exporting photos to files on my Desktop retains the GPS data.
Sharing to Flickr from iPhoto also retains the GPS - the problem is with Aperture only.
And only on my iMac. Sharing photos to Flickr /Smugmug from Aperture on my MacBook Air retains the GPS, so there's a workaround, However, I do most of my photo work on the iMac and would like to be able to figure this out.

Yes, I have the same problem.
My objective was to get a few photos with geolocation onto my iPhone.
Putting them in Dropbox and downloading them from the Dropbox app worked for me.
Oddly, Google Drive seems to also strip geolocation data.

  • Sharing to Flickr - where are my titles?

When I had iPhoto '09 I used to export my photos to the desktop then upload them to Flickr as I didn't like the way the flickr albums were added to the side of iPhoto under "Web".
With iPhoto '11 I decided I dodn't mind having "Flickr" once at the side and the albums within that so I decided to try sharing my photos. Problem being it hasn't uploaded the Titles to Flickr (these were just the files names, but even still I wanted them). Is there a way to get the filenames to be shared too or is this something else that iPhoto '11 does badly?
As an aside, I've also had nightmares like everybody else getting iPhoto to work correctly. It works ok for my user account but when my wife uses it iPhoto keeps crashing when creating books - also, some themes appear to be missing (i.e. says that you can change to have 4 photos on a card but when you click it just stays blank).
Thanks in advance for any help.

    TIA:
Are you using the Flickr plugin for iPhoto? With it you select the photos you want to export and go to the File->Export->Flicker menu option.
If you're using the Finder to upload then there's no album folder you can uses. With iPhoto 6 the albums are virtual entities and maintained in the AlbumData.xml file. What you'll need to do is export those files to a folder on the desktop, resizing them as needed in the process, and then upload from there to flickr.

  • IPhoto sharing via Flickr

I just noticed the new iPhoto is uploading original sizes of my photos to my Flickr account eventhough I chose the "Web" size option. Not only is it doing that for the recent photos I uploaded, since its synced with my Flickr account, it went back to all the photos I have shared and added the original size!! The previous version of iPhoto allowed me to retroactively change the photo size option by just selecting the shared album and then going to share. That option is not there anymore!
I do not want the original size of my photos out there! Is there anyway I can change the share size to "Web" now?

I'm waiting till the new Photos application for Macs and iPhones is released with the release of Yosemite next month.  That will change the game quite a bit.
Photos will come next year - a bit after the Yosemite release; http://www.apple.com/osx/preview/apps/  says:  "Photos in OS X is coming early next year."
I don't know if the fact that the Camera Roll is no longer in the Photos app on the iPhone is by plan or a glitch in the installation.
At first I thought both were still there, because my migrated iPhoto library is still showing "Camera Roll" and "Photo Stream". But that are the remnants of a nice app.
The new "Recently Added" album looks like the successor to both Camera Roll and Photo Stream. I think the Camera Roll Album is gone. The manual does not mention it once.  And the missing "My Photo Steam" must be a glitch. The manual says:
"All photos added to your Recently Added album—including screenshots and photos saved from email, for example—appear in My Photo Stream." How can photos appear in the My Photo Stream, if it is not visible?

  • Parse error problem sharing to Flickr

Using PSE10 on iMAC running V10.7.5 software.
I have successfully shared images in the past directly to Flickr from PSE using the "share" tag.
Last night and today when I try to share images directly with Flickr I get the following message:
"Online Services encountered an error. The service will now be terminated or paused if possible.
    (Error 7:An XML parse failure occurred. [error=3, line=1, column=0])."
Anyone come accross this issue before.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    James

Hi, just to let everyone know that a few days after I raised this issue the problem mysteriously rectified itself. I did not do anything on my mac that would have resolved the issue, so I suspect the problem was with Flickr itself  or with something, somewhere down the line.

  • Sharing to Flickr problem

If I choose to share a photo to Flickr and add it to an existing set, I do not see that photo displaying in my Aperture Album. I notice that the picture count increases with the new addition, but that picture is not displayed. 'Sychronizing' does not show the pic either.
When I open iPhoto, however, my Flickr photo set is a complete album and all photos are displayed properly.
What magic trick have a forgotten to do in Aperture?

I posted this earlier and thought that the problem with not being able to upload to Flickr was due to having only a trial period.  However, I have recently purchased Elements 12 and am still unable to upload.  It never asks for my sign in information and never places the photos that I want uploaded onto the upload screen.  It does show me the processing dialogue when I choose the photos though.  I have searched throughout the help on this site and still can't figure it out.
Does anyone here have any suggestions?  Being able to organize the photos and upload them directly to Flickr was my main reason for buying the software.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Can iPhoto update the descriptions of photos shared to Flickr?

I just finished uploading 150-odd photos I took into iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17) and annotated virtually all of them.  Having waited through the long, slow upload process I now notice that I made a number of typographical errors in the descriptions.  After I have corrected them in iPhoto, is there any way short of deleting the photos on Flickr and uploading again, to get iPhoto to update the descriptions, or do I need to go through and update them by hand on Flickr?

Intestingly enough, I see that some of the photos I uploaded to the Flickr photostream have an indication of that in the "information" display, but the bulk of them do not.  I think it may relate to my having selected 153 (148 photos, 5 short videos) in iPhoto and asking it to upload them all in the same go.  That upload "stalled-out" at some point and I ended-up having to do the last 20 or so (guessing) in a second upload.  I'm guessing that iPhoto didn't record the uploading for the first chunk

  • Managing Locations in Flickr, Facebook

I would like to geotag all the photos in my iPhoto library, but decide on a case by case basis what photos have location information shared to Flickr and Facebook. For example, I would like to share the location of that photo I took of a waterfall on my last hike, but not my home location where my son had his birthday party.
What's the best way of doing this?  I'm thinking about just making a copy without location information and sharing that.  If I do it that way, any suggestions about handling the duplicates?  Or is there a better way?
    Thanks!
(PS: I'm still on iPhoto '09.)

The answer is that you cannot do a complete Move so long as the FB/Flickr album exists.  See:

  • Will my previously sync'd Flickr photos (from iPhoto) get removed from Flickr

    Hi,
I am very nervous of using the new Photos App and losing all my previously sync'd Flickr Photos that I configured from iPhoto - some of them have thousands of views / comments and fav's that I would hate to lose.
My photo library has been migrated to Photos App now, so I presume that as long as I don't fire up iPhoto again, I should be fine - as once the photos are sync'd to Flickr from iPhoto then as long as iPhoto doesn't try and remove them it should be fine and it can't do that if you don't start it up.
My concern is what happens when I try and share a photo to Flickr from the new Photos App - is this going to reset all my photos that have been previously shared to Flickr (and hence lose the previously uploaded ones from iPhoto) or will it just share additional photos as a new individual photos? It seems whereas iPhoto ran a complex Sync type relationship with Flickr, the Photos App Sharing to Flickr is much more basic.
Can anyone put my mind at rest because I would be mortified to end up losing my Flickr Photos?
    Rgds

  • Does Aperture recognize existing iPhoto photos published to Flickr?

    Howdy,
I have almost 10,000 photos in my iPhoto 9.4.2 library on my MacBook running Mac OS 10.7.5. I'm considering upgrading to Aperture, and I am particularly interested in the advertised ability of Aperture to use my existing iPhoto library. Specifically, many of my photos in iPhoto are shared on Flickr, and I love iPhoto's integration with Flickr. When I update a photo with edits or metadata, those changes are pushed to Flickr automatically.
If I get Aperture and use it on my existing iPhoto library, will it recognize all the photos that are already published to Flickr and similarly maintain their Flickr versions?
    Thanks a bunch,

yeah, i IM'd the links to a friend just now and she can see them. ***?
I cannot see them in Safari or Mozilla here at work.
But yet, I can see them in Firefox.
    Sorry for the trouble.

  • ICloud is a Disaster

After spending a few hours upgrading to Lion and activating iCloud, I fully realize now that Apple eliminated GALLERY and iWEB....infuriating!!!
Apple has a great reputation for making products that people like and are willing to pay a premium price.
However, time after time, it seems that the launch of any new software/serice is riddled with disasters!!

As much as I understand the frustration of Ex-MobileMe Users, let's not forget the fact that iCloud is a new product, created for the new Apple customers that are owning their first iDevices and don't know OSX or MobileMe at all. ( Don't laugh . I know people that never owned a PC but use only such for internet ).
To these the syncing across their ipads, phones and pods is more important then having a storage facility or a web-hosting solution.
Apple obviously has done market research of what the "typical" iDevice user wants :
    - they share pictures and videos on facebook, flickr, vimeo, youtube and the likes. So no need for a Gallery.
    - the IOS filesystem is often refered as being a "jail" - because the end user has nothing to see, nothing to manage. They see their apps and the files are in these apps, not in some folders to remember. Apple wants to do away with path-names,folders or file-associations. They want the users to only remember "write letters, open pages." "where are my letters ? Open pages" .. that scheme. So no need for iDisk.
IT and Expectations of Users have drastically changed. If yesterday we all sat with the Finder open and multitudes full of files and folders, having to use spotlight to search for our stuff and remember which app to use for opening files a, b and c. this is soon all a thing of the past.
Just look at Lion and the "Launchpad". Now imagine there would not be a Finder, no Harddisk icons, only your apps. That is OS'X direction and everybody can clearly see this coming who is not blind.  The "iOSification" is a process that has just begun in Lion; ultimately it will be very similar in coming versions. If not a universal iOS comes out to run on everything from iPod to iMac. Or if Desktop Macs dissapear complety.Would also be no shock - Apple sells more of the mobile devices then on desktops or laptops. The iOS Appstore is the number one income source for Apple as well all developers. So there must be users "en masse".
The new generation of "IT/PC/Mac-users" have just their iPad on the table and just launch their apps.
Such conversion processes are always twilight : The "classic" users keep whining about how different this all is, how inconvienent, how "hard", "strange" or "limiting"  - but the new users, the younger ones they welcome this all and get used to it, having their laugh at how "limiting" "hard" "strange" was the way we,the "old" ones have used computers ..
I am now 34 years old, have kept up since 1994 with the evolution in PCs and Macs and I had to get used to lots of evolving, learn new tools, new apps, new Operating systems - ever developing skills and knowledge. And as much as I am also one of the "old school" Mac users, as much as I loved the "iTools", the upload from iWeb to Apples mobile me servers - so much I also welcome the shift over to iOS and social media sharing in flickr and co. I had to change my workflows, my behaviours. I needed to tell my friends that in future I would use different Email, different services .. but was that really such a "mess" to do ? Was it hard ? ..
You might forgive me my non-native-english-language .. Hope it is somehow clear what I wanted to express :
Not everything "missing" in the "new" must be bad =  Choices and alternatives are a great thing.

  • Problem selecting and copying items

I use my iPad Air to work on groups in the photo sharing site, flickr.  Since installing IOS8 I am having extreme difficulty in selecting and copying awards.  Selection is done by dragging through the html, and then clicking on a blue icon "COPY"  Sometimes the code saves correctly, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it changes to code previously saved  It is driving me nuts.  Can anyone help.
I have tried restarting the iPad, but that didn't help.

Thanks Mark, but you answered what I already included within my question. I wrote "So it's that, or disabling the hyperlink, move the object normally, and putting the hyperlink on again"
With that, to "Uncheck the "Make hyperlinks active" you need to first select the object, and you end up back to the first and second problem I wrote.

  • Element 11 Organizer & iPernity

    Hello,
the element 11 Organizer there are the tab "Sharing"
    on Flickr, YouTube, etc.
Is there a way to add something there, add or change.
I have my pictures on ipernity, it would be nice to have the option there ipernity.
    Thank you very much
    ciao

Adding something to the list would require a plug-in. We don't make any plug-ins for third-party sites, but they may have created their own. I haven't seen any sites that do this for Photoshop Elements, but I have seen many that do this for Lightroom. I would suggest checking with ipernity to see if they have or are developing such a plug-in. If not, then check what their recommended workflow would be to get from PSE to their web site.
