"Sharing" to Master file after overnite is at 10%

I have successfully shared many times to master file with current setup (macbook air 10.0.8). And I did so with this same movie that is 11 gigs to 480p...this time I'm trying to do same but to 780p...and after 10 hours it's only 10% done?
Any thoughts? thanks in advance!!!

There may be some media or render file in your project that is causing problems. The fact that other projects export all right and this does not is a big hint that this is somehow specific to the project.
Here are a few things you may try:
1) Set In and Out points and export just a small section of the project. Does that progress all right? You may try different sections or export, say, about half the project then the other half in hopes of locating the problematic clip.
2) Delete render files - File->Delete Project Generated Files
3) Copy everything in the project, create a new project and paste. This can be useful because sometimes it is something in the structure of the project that goes bad; simply duplicating the project would bring along the corruption, but pasting usually works.

  • Sharing My Master File in FCPX

I am working on Final Cut Pro 10.1.3, although my problem has been reoccurring through several versions.  Although my original footage (1920x1080) appears clear and without any fragmenting within the timeline, when I share the footage as a master file, the .mov is very fragmented. I have rearranged my settings before sharing the master file numerous times, but cannot find any outcome that is sufficient.  I have an example of this fragmentation posted as an unlisted video on YouTube, http://youtu.be/0-c2Pe3ABWs When this video, Clip #56 (FCPX), is viewed in 1080p, this fragmentation is very noticeable.
As a test, I placed the same footage in iMovie and exported the footage.  The exported .mp4 file does not show any fragmenting. I have an example of what I would like it to look like in FCPX as an unlisted video on YouTube, http://youtu.be/YqqWkttAyHM When this video, Clip #56 (iMovie), is viewed in 1080p, there is no fragmentation.
I would like to know if the exported clip in Final Cut Pro can possess the same quality as that exported clip in iMovie.  There has to be a way. If anyone has any insight, please help me with this matter.
    Sincerely
    FLCurrent

It's not a playback problem. You can see it clearly if you download the 1080p HD version, which is actually 1080i.
    Maybe you'll see the image.

  • Aperture loses / switches root location of master files after restart.

Everytime i reboot my imac and open up aperture it sitches the root location of my masteriles to one of the othe drives mounted on the imac
    Example:
    Masterfile:
    External Harddrive called: images/sunset/jadajada
    after reboot
External Harddrive or even CDRom: data/sunset/jadajada
i can fix that with relinking all the images but this is not the way it ment to be i think.
The Masterfiles are on an external Harddrive formated FAT32 because i need to use them on a PC too.

  • Why do i get the message, out of application memory when i am sharing to master file or exporting

    Can anybody , helppp
    I upgraded software to 10.9
Now when i go to share an edit in FCPX it works for a while then i get an error message that FCPX has paussed and is out of memory ,
I have 8 g ram and loads of drive space,
the video is only 4m 30 sec

hello again, i tryed repair again and i think i have fixed it , also i reduced the file size from HD to 1024x720 and it seams to be working good , i also exported to one of my external drives, but i think it might have been a problem with the main drive, so the repair seems to have sorted it out , thank you all for your help

  • Error -1 creating frame when sharing as "Master File".

    Anyone seen this before?
    Anything I can do?

Did you manage to sort out the unusual render issues you described here?
If you didn't, my intial thought is this error messsage and the earlier issues might be related.
It would help if you could list any actions you've taken so far to try and remedy this.
    Thanks.

  • Why, when exporting as master file from FCX, I have problem with sync

I edited all audio of a short movie in protools, bounced a stereo file, imported it in final cut and shared the master file at prores 422, from there through compressor I have created 2  files (mpeg 2 and ac3) and burnt a  dvd but seems always to be out of sync , why?
fortunately  i still have dvd studio pro that allow me to "nudge" the  audio to fix the problem, but all this is quite time consuming.
    any advice?

I have fixed some issue about audio and video, created a new project with correct sample rate, imported the master video at same frame rate, and in pt bounced  a new track of audio, so  no orange bar, everything fine in FCX,AUDIO AND VIDEO PERFECTLY IN SYNC.  i exported a master file at best current setting and in compressor have created a dvd setup hi quality, 2 pass vbr encoding mode etc
and.. imported the m2v file and ac3 in DVD STUDIO PRO, and on time line i hear out of sync, now i don't know if the problem happen during the encoding in compressor or is dvd studio pro.

  • Viewing the master file

Okay, here's another problem (along with the cropping and rotating issues that still exist) since the latest update:
I cannot view my master files after I have made adjustments to an image.  You know how you just hit M and can see the difference of the original and the changes?  Well, that doesn't happen anymore.
UPDATE:  Even before I finished my thoughts, I can now view the master.  But I have to exit Aperture and then go back in for it to work.
Obviously not the smooth workflow I experienced before 3.2 or before upgrading to Lion. I am VERY close to making the switch to Lightroom and never looking back.
SECOND UPDATE:  Actually, the problem is in full screen mode.  Works fine in non-full screen mode.  Grrrr.  I want to kill the Lion before it kills me!

Well, for what it's worth, it works fine for me. Have you gone through any of the Troubleshooting Basics?

  • Extremely long Master File Sharing/Export times (MP4)

I, too, it seems, am having extremely long Sharing times with my FCP X project(s).  It's a one hour, 50 minute HD video.   Nothing fancy, just a couple talking heads comprised of 7  .mov files and appx. 65 graphics and black generators as B-Roll.  When I share it to a Master File as an MP4 video it takes nearly 36 hours to complete.
The Transcoding takes more than 8 hours before it gets to the export phase.  I have "Create Optimized Media" and "Create Proxy Media"checked in the FCP X Prefs and have Background Rendering switched off, FWIW.
I have a 13" MacBook Pro (mid 2012) 8GB RAM, 1TB HD and running 10.9.2.  I don't know if it makes a difference but I have Perian and Flip4Mac installed.
Activity Monitor shows that I'm using 6.34GB physical memory and 10.5GB Virtual Memory.  The Memory Pressure graph is green.  Activity Monitor shows these processes: a kernel task of 750MB, FCP using 600MB and ProTranscoder Tool using 286MB.
I've shared copies of this same video to YouTube and it took about just as long but it shared successfully.
I was just wondering if there was any way to cut down on the rendering time - which, based on what I've seen in the discussions may not really be possible on a 2-hour video.  I will have another video in a week or so to finish and it's the same length.  Also, I may have a couple more projects in the future (if the client likes these) that will be similar.  My goal is to not have to wait days for a project export/share to be complete.  Worse, as was the case today, I decided to add one more 5-second graphic and had to re-do the entire Transcode/Export process.
I looked into getting Compressor but that doesn't seem really necessary or beneficial in my case and, based on the reviews, can actually add even MORE time to the process, it seems.
Thanks for any suggestions or pointers.  I'll continue to look through the discussions for info.
    Rick

Since I just downloaded the trial version and started this project I'm still learning as I go. At this point, I may actually end up having to purchase FCP (which I actually REALLY like - except for the hideous export times).  I used the OLD Final Cut Pro a good many years ago on a G-4 Quicksilver so this is somewhat of a re-learning experience.
When I began the project I'm trying to finish (now that I recall) I actually exported it from iMovie to FCP.  That's when I needed help using the generators because I needed to cover the 16:9 video while using a 4:3 graphic.  I began using this current version of FCP without initially setting or changing any preferences.  So, I believe the Optimize was already toggled.  I wasn't sure abut the proxy but you cleared that up for me.  Thanks!  I just made sure those two were toggled for this latest share/export because of something I read about maximizing (which I'm doing a lot of these days!).
The second program's .mov files I shot and began editing were imported directly into FCP and, again, I don't recall that I toggled the Optimize option.  I know I was sure to copy both programs' files to their project and not keep them in place (avoiding potential file issues).  I also exported that second, similar, video at one point (probably because of the issues with the first program) and it, too, took a comparable amount of time to export.  It is an hour and fifteen munutes long.
Since my MBP is new, I got the (what I assumed to be)was the maximum RAM. I've since learned you can (expensively) actually upgrade it to 16GB.  I'll opt for a SSD first, tho ;-)
When I get a chance after I'm finished with this current export ( which occur tomorrow sometime :-/ ) I'll try the Pro Res export and then try the MPEG Streamclip (which I have and use frequently) option.
I'm using a new Toshiba Canvio 3.0 Plus external 1.5TB (non-Thunderbolt) drive formatted Extended/Journaled/GUID partition to store my project and actually did quit FCP and restarted the MBP prior to beginning this export with no browsers running.
And, fwiw, at 6:30pm EST the project is 44% of the way through the Transcoding process.
Thanks for your help and time.

  • Sharing master files with Lightroom 4

Several years ago I used Aperture and ended up switching to LR4, but miss a few of the features of Aperture.     I am trying to figure out a way of using Aperture to access some of my master files without having to duplicate my master files from LR4.    It is my understanding that if I import files into Aperture that the images go into a specific Aperture Library.    What I really liked about LR was that my master files could sit where ever I wanted them and the application only accessed the files rather than stowed the masters into a unique application library.

You can import images into Aperture as referenced originals, and reference them in their original location, without moving them into the aperture library. Only you must not move them, rename them, edit them in any way after importing them into Aperture, for that will break the connection between the version in Aperture and the referenced original master.

  • Errors After detaching file from associated master files through SPD ( including standard seattle and oslo)

I am getting the following error after I detach any aspx file from the master. On preview
"ContentPlaceHolder can only be used in .master files."  (correlation Id search with logs does not shed much light)
This is happening with any simple page detachment using SPD. even on pages created with standard master pages.
Either the SPD functionality does not work or I am missing something basic. Help is appreciated
    Thanks
    Madhu

    Hi,
According to your description, I have done a test, and met the same issue with you.
Because ContentPlaceHolder defines a region in a Master Page and the Content control is used on the page to display text/markup in the place of the ContentPlaceHolder.
See this link for an example:
     http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.content.aspx
The "Detach master page" seems a bug, my suggestion is: you can create a blank ASPX page in SharePoint Designer, then start customizing on this new page.

  • Why does Final Cut Pro change my title's baseline after the first two titles when exporting a master file?

    Hey Guys,
I want to use a Zoom title (Titles -> Build In/Out -> Zoom).  I only want the title, not a subtitle.  So I insert Zoom's everywhere, type in my stuff for Line 1, delete the contents of Line 2, format it (font, tracking, etc.).  Everything looks great in the Viewer.  I let it render, then export a Master – same as source.  I open the MOV, the first two titles are great.  Then every title thereafter looks like someone changed the position by 100 pixels south of its original location.
Here's what I've done to troubleshoot it:
Removed all Zoom's, inserted new ones, removed the contents of Line 2 and left Line 1 alone (i.e. it still reads "Title").  When I export, everything's fine.  The moment I change formatting or put in new copy in Line 1, same thing happens – every title changes position by 100 pixels down.
Downloaded Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager, trashed pref's/
I'm using a TTF with a bold type body only.  Figured I'd leave it at Gill Sans Bold.  Same thing happens as soon as I type something custom into Line 1.
I had a text style saved and removed it.  (Which wasn't easy.  Solution here.)
Has this ever happened to you?
    Thanks!

    Hey Jim,
Thanks for the follow-up.  Here are some more details:
    OS - 10.8.2
    FCP X - 10.0.7
I can't update either of these because of my Avid installation.
Something else I didn't mention – this happens in a 4K project.  Notice how a default Zoom title looks:
Lines 1 and 2 are almost stacked on top of each other.
    Here's my title style:
Here's what the title looks after I apply the title style, modify Line 1, and remove the contents of Line 2:
And here's how it looks in the exported master file MOV:
    Notice how it's pushed down?
Then I decided to make a 720p project.  No more title problems.
So if you have some 4K footage, Jim, give it a go.  Or if there's another 4K-er out there, try this and let me know.
    Thanks!

  • Can I store referenced master files on a shared folder on a windows file server?

I have a windows file server where I have setup shared folders that my Macbook can access. Is it a supported configuration to keep my referenced master files on the windows share?

I hardly ever use the Bridge.  I mostly use the Bridges to work one groups of new image RAW to edit metadata and create ACR settings.  I don't use bridge features like collections or use the bridge to organize my image and I also don't use Lightroom.    I mostly use Photoshop and Window's File explorer with my Image files.  I have installed FastPictureViewer Codeg package to get thumbnails  for RAW and PSD files in a Window's dialog.   I don't like the delays introduced in workflows that are cause by the overhead requires for Bridge Cashes and Lighroom Databases.
However for you with 50 users sharing assets on network drives I would think you would need a library system above and beyond Bridge and Lightroom. A library system that provides access and version processes so users don't step on each others work.
If you want to use the bridge I do not believe it would be possible to use a shared cashed where multiple instances of the Bridge could concurrently maintain a common cache. I do not believe either Bridge or Lighroom design would have the locking protocols required for shared concurrent use.

  • Resource role information from shared resource pool file to a master project file

    Hi,
I am using Microsoft Project Professional 2013. We have multiple project managers running their own projects. We are building out a PMO and are bringing all these plans into one master 'portfolio' plan.  So
we have one master plan file, subproject 1, subproject 2... and then we have setup a shared resource file where all resources are utilising the same shared pool.
This works well and in the master file we can do resource usage checks. We have also  added extra columns such as resource group which gets shown in the master file and we can filter which group (in our
case infrastructure, projects, applications etc) are consuming most resources.
The bit I am stuck on is management also wanted to report on the resource role ie which person is a project manager, business analyst etc. I have created a custom field in the shared resource plan as 'resource role' and populated as per their job role but for
some reason the info added in the shared resource file doesn't get conveyed to the master file as say the resource group does.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks Dales for helping out.  Thats how I originally did it. Went into organizer. At first I had copied the 'Resource Role' custom field to the global template and then in the master file added the same column but nothing showing. Then tried same again
but this time copying directly to the master file but still no joy.
I am seeing 'Resource group' appear as it should. I make a change to a someones resource group in the share pool file and I see the change in the master file but not happening with the custom field resource role.

  • My share operation failure occurs after about 5 seconds for DVD and Apple Devices.  I can share to a master file, but without audio.  Help?

My share operation failure occurs after about 5 seconds for DVD and Apple Devices.  I can share to a master file, but without audio.  Help?
    It has error number -50.

If it only happens with this project, it's probable some media files have become corrupted.
Those may be render files. Make sure background rendering is off. Select the project in the browser and from the file menu, choose Delete Project Render Files; choose All from the dialog. Without rendering, try exporting.
If that doesn't work, use an optimized version of your DSLR clips. (Right click on the clips in the browser and hit Transcode.)

  • Sharing FCPX Pro Res 422 .mov master file with both Ps and Macs

I'm using FCPX 10.1.4 on Mac OS 10.10.2. I want to put a FCPX Pro Res 422 master file on a data DVD so it can be read and poled on both a Mac and PC using Quick Time 7. I tried using Toast 12 to create a data DVD playable on both a PC and Mac but it would not open on the PC. Any ideas what the problem might be or an alternative way to do this?
    Thanks

One additional possible point of confusion: I think you wrote (or meant to write)  "so it can be read and played."
A playable DVD is a very specific standard of filenames & compression sufficient to fit a two hour movie into 4.7GB of standard def video.  Simply writing any video file onto a disc (maybe marked as "DVD-R") never creates a DVD that is playable in standard DVD players.
Given that, you can transfer any file (up to 4.7GB) by writing it onto a data "DVD" disc.  However, as others point out, ProRes isn't windows-friendly (or good for small files) and just for seeing the video on other platforms, H.264 would be the right choice.
