Sharing two calendars I 'own'

I manage both my bosses calendars on iCloud via the web (I am on PC) - there are times when they are attending the same meeting/event - instead of writing out the event twice on the separate calendars can I share  an event amongst two calendars I technically 'own' ?

You can't share an event between multiple calendars, if that's what you're asking.  The easiest thing to do is enter it on one calendar, then control-drag and drop a copy of the event to the other calendar (on the left sidebar if you're using Outlook).  That will enter a copy of it on the second calendar.

  • Shared Outlook Calendars not showing up on my phone

    I have an Outlook Calendar that works on my Samsung Galaxy S4, but I have 2 other outlook calendars that are shared with me on the same account that I can not seem to get to show up on my phone.   How do I get the shared outlook calendars to show up with my own calendar?

    Actually, the accounts can not be added as they are not my accounts.   These are two members of my family who have their own outlook accounts.   They “shared” their calendars with me so that I can see them.   I want to see them on my Samsung Galaxy S4 but I can’t.   I can see them on my laptop and I could see them on my iPhone but when I changed to the Samsung, I can’t see them.   There has got to be a way to see them.

  • ICal Shared Exchange Calendar Stopped Working

    I have been successfully accessing the Johns Hopkins Exchange servers for mail, address book, and calendar services on my Mac for months. In iCal I had also been accessing a shared Exchange calendar for many months. About 1-2 months ago, I lost access to this shared calendar in iCal only. Since I can still access it from Outlook on a PC, it seems something must have changed on my Mac. I still have access to my own exchange calendar in iCal, but when I go to re-setup the shared calendar in the account set up window, it shows that the shard calendar exists in the list of available calendars, but the indicator spins and spins without ever revealing my delegate privileges. Did Apple change something that is blocking access to my delegate privileges in iCal?
    Thanks for any help,
    Bill Convey

    I would suggest to go into the options for that exchange server on your Pre and reset the calendar preference (that is: change it to not sync the calendar, save those settings, then switch it to 'on' again).
    After doing this, perform the following action:
    -Open your Contacts App
    -Select Preferences & Accounts from the dropdown menu
    -Scroll to the bottom of that page and select "Sync Now".
    This should resync all data on all Accounts on your phone.
    Please note: It may take up to 10 minutes to sync all data from all Accounts. If you do not see all synced information after 10 minutes, perform a soft reset (shutdown your phone and restart it).

  • Any calendar app that can display two calendars per day side by side?

    Is there any app that can display two calendars (data sync with iCloud Calendars) side by side?  e.g. one calendar for planning and the other for actual / diary.

    Calendar can have two or more calendars calendars listed at the same time.
    Each can be a different color for identifidation.
    The first screenshot shows that the Medical and Joint calendars are shared calendars.
    Will that work for you?

  • How can I sync two calendars with Outlook?

    My iPhone is set to Spanish and so it uses a calendar automatically named "Calendario." All my data is on there.
    I would like to add the US holidays to my calendar.
    When I tried to do this on Outlook, it added the holidays to its own default calendar called "Calendar" (which is otherwise empty). Nothing was added to "Calendario." There was no obvious way to bypass "Calendar" in favor of "Calendario" when adding the holidays.
    So I have two calendars, one with all my data, the other with just the holidays. The two sets can merge (overlay) just fine on Outlook, but I can't figure out whether this is possible on the iPhone. It seems I can only set one default calendar on the device. It would be helpful to just be able to delete "Calendar" altogether, but Outlook doesn't let me do this.
    Is there a way to merge these two calendars so I can see them together on my iPhone, or to delete "Calendar" and just put all the holidays on "Calendario"? Thanks.

    I think (and I'll double check) only the BBLink events will sync on a wired USB sync. I'm fairly certain of that.
    You'll need to use your calendar syncing via an EAS email account (outlook.com, for instance, is free) to sync wirelessly. It works great. I use it and was a former tied to the USB sync guy as well... and I thought I was gonna die a painful death without it. I found more freedom this way.
    This explains the process. But I don't think you'll get BBM Groups to sync.

  • Can't get shared Gmail calendars to work (Exchange)

    Long time Android user bought an iPhone 5 last night. Having serious trouble getting shared Google calendars to display.
    I have my Google account set up as Exchange. That seemed to go through smoothly and my main Google calendar shows up just fine. I then went to https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect and all of my calendars appear. I put checkboxes in the ones I wanted to sync to my iPhone, but they did not show up in my iPhone Calendar app. Waited and waited, never showed up.
    I even deleted my Exchange account completely and re-added it. Still, only the primary calendar shows up in Exchange.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I've been to that iphoneselect website from both my iPhone using the Safari browser, and from my computer using Chrome browser, and both browsers show the calendars I want to sync as having check marks in the boxes. Those calendars simply do not sync. Is there possibly some issue with Google not being aware that I have an iPhone since I had an Android for so long?
    If I go to m.google.com/sync from my iPhone browser, it does not show up with a device select page. It just shows up with a generic Google sync page, where I can click a "Calendar" icon, then choose "Sync with a mobile device," then choose "Apple device" and it takes me to a settings page that ultimately leads me to the same check box webpage ashttps://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect. Which, as I said, already shows check marks in the calendars that I want.
    I read this entire thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4310898?start=45&tstart=0.  It seems to suggest that Google or Apple is making it so you cannot get shared calendars using Exchange any more, and that you have to do it by setting up a new account for calendars as just a regular "Gmail" account (instead of Exchange).
    Anybody know how to fix this?  Is it not possible to view multiple calendars using Exchange anymore??

    I was able to get my shared calendars to show up in my iPhone Calendar list only after visiting https://m.google.com/sync/settings/iconfig/ in the iPhone Safari browser.  That page lets me manage the Google Sync devices (e.g. iPhone, iPad), each has its own Settings page where I must click the checkbox to sync each shared calendar.  Once I saved those device-specific settings, I was able to see the extra calendars on the iPhone.

  • Does Sharing A Calendar Cost Money?

    Hi
    I want to share a specific iCal calendar with someone who does not subscribe to iCloud.
    They have Snow Leopard and iCal.
    When they click on the link it says that they need to subscribe to iCoud.
    Is this right?
    Is there another way to share my calendar securely without her having to pay to see it?
    Thanks!

    Firstly, though you don't say so I assume you are doing this in iCloud.
    You can share a calendar two ways. Sharing publicly produces a subscription URL which anyone who has it can open in iCal or another CalDAV client top read (but not write to) the calendar.
    Sharing privately requires the recipient to have iCloud: the calendar can be read-only or read-write as you decide. iCloud is free at basic level but requires 10.7.2, so you are limited to public sharing unless your recipient is prepared (and able) to upgrade to Lion (which is only $29).
    The methods for both types of sharing are explained here:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a9479
    You might consider sharing the calendar by syncing it with Google Calendar - she would need a Google account but this is free: I don't know how well this works or what the limitations are, except that the calendar would have to be 'On My Mac' and thus wouldn't sync to iCloud.

  • Suddenly getting unwanted event notifications from shared Google calendars

    My company has been using Google Apps for Business for almost 6 months now.  We all share our calendars with each other so we all can see who is doing what and when.
    On my iPhone 6, I see the list of all my subscribed calendars, but my own calendar is the only one checked to be displayed.  However, JUST YESTERDAY, 7 January 2015, I am suddenly getting notifications for all the meetings in other people's calendars.  I checked the Google Calendar settings, and all other calendars besides mine are set to "NO NOTIFICATIONS" yet I'm still getting them on my phone.  It is driving me crazy because some of these calendars chock-full of events and appointments.
    What could be happening?

    I have iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.3, and this is the solution that's working for me so far. However, I had to use the Calendar app on my Mac OS X (Yosemite) - not sure if there is another option for PC. Basically, I added the shared Google calendar to iCloud and told Google not to sync the shared calendar to my iPhone, so the shared calendar now shows up under the iCloud list of calendars and not the Google list (and thus the option to turn off alerts). Note: the shared calendars I'm using are read-only, so I don't know how well this would work if you need to edit events from iPhone. I hope this helps, and if anyone has a better solution, please share!
    1. Turn on iCloud calendars on iPhone and Mac.
    2. In browser, open the shared Google calendar settings and copy the iCal calendar address URL.
    3. In Mac OS X Calendar app, subscribe to the shared Google calendar. File > New Calendar Subscription > paste shared Google calendar URL > click Subscribe
    4. Set Location to iCloud. I checked Ignore Alerts because I also didn't want them on my Mac.
    5. The shared calendar should now be listed on your iPhone calendars in the iCloud section with the red i.
    6. Press the red i and scroll to the bottom and switch off Event Alerts.
    7. Remove the shared calendar from the Google list by going to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect and unchecking the shared calendars.

  • Comparing two Calendar dates

    No question. Just a comment with code example.
    Yesterday I was having issues comparing two Calendar dates. They looked equal in my println statement, but they failed the test. The solution evaded my cafeine intensified brain for hours. Then it hit me. Print out the time in milliseconds and see if the numbers were the same. Nope. Why?
    The problem was that in the real world, you get dates from all over the place, not just cooked up for a text book example. (Don't you just hate those text book examples in their unrealistic world?) Anyway, I was getting a date from an HTML form and a data from a database and comparing the two once I had converted them both to a Calendar object. This seemed a reasonable choice.
    Well, the java.sql.Date that the Oracle driver returned which was converted to a java.util.Date was fine. I ran this into a Calendar with the call calS.setTime(dbDate). The form date was split into fields and put into a difference Calendar obj with the call calF.set(fYear, fMonth, fDay, 0, 0, 0). This too seemed reasonable. Then a call to calS.equls(calF) resulted in a false even though the actual dates were in fact the same.
    The problem was with the time. The java.sql.Date (calS) had a time of 00:00:00 which was fine. The calendar from the form also had 00:00:00 for a time since I initialized it with zeros. Hummmmm. Now what? As mentioned before, I decided to print out the actuall time in milliseconds and that gave me my answer. The two calendars were off by only milliseconds, but that's why. You see, the equals method of Calendar compares two dates/time in milliseconds. You can see this in the source for yourself. It's not difficult to read at all. Download and open the api source file, src.zip, and locate Calendar.java in the java.util directory.
    The fix was to add calF.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0) and calS.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0) to zero out the milliseconds in each Calendar object. That did the trick. Here's example code of the problem (test1) and the solution (test2). I tried to simulate as close to real world as possible. If you have a better solution or I've made some error, please let me know. I'm always looking for better ways.
    Main.java
    import java.util.Calendar;
    import java.util.Date;
    import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
    public class Main {
        private int fYear = 2003;
        private int fMonth = 3;  // march
        private int fDay = 14;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Main main = new Main();
            main.test1();
            main.test2();
        public void test1() {

            Calendar calF = Calendar.getInstance();
            calF.set(fYear, fMonth-1, fDay, 0, 0, 0);  // month starts at 0 - so march would be 2
            System.out.println("From form date:     [" + df.format(calF.getTime()) + "] [" + calF.getTimeInMillis() + "]");

                ex.printStackTrace();

            // the return is java.util.Date
            // convert to a Calendar
            SharedObject so = new SharedObject();
            Date myDate = so.getTheDate();
            Calendar calS = Calendar.getInstance();
            calS.setTime(myDate);
            System.out.println("Shared Object date: [" + df.format(calS.getTime()) + "] [" + calS.getTimeInMillis() + "]");
            // compare the two calendars for equality
            if (calS.equals(calF)) {
                System.out.println("The same");
            else {
                System.out.println("NOT the same");
        public void test2() {
            SimpleDateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat();
            // get the date from the form
            Calendar calF = Calendar.getInstance();
            calF.set(fYear, fMonth-1, fDay, 0, 0, 0);
            calF.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0);  // the magic bean

            // the return is java.util.Date
            // convert to a Calendar
            SharedObject so = new SharedObject();
            Date myDate = so.getTheDate();
            Calendar calS = Calendar.getInstance();
            calS.setTime(myDate);  // just to be safe
            calF.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0);
            System.out.println("Shared Object date: [" + df.format(calS.getTime()) + "] [" + calS.getTimeInMillis() + "]");
            // compare the two calendars for equality
            if (calS.equals(calF)) {
                System.out.println("The same");
            else {
                System.out.println("NOT the same");
    SharedObject.java
    public class SharedObject {
        public java.util.Date getTheDate() {
            java.util.Date d = null;
            try {
                java.sql.Date s = java.sql.Date.valueOf("2003-3-14");  // this march is converted internally
                d = (java.util.Date)s;
            catch (Exception ex) {
                ex.printStackTrace();
            return d;
    } The output
    From form date:     [3/14/03 12:00 AM] [1047621600296]
    Shared Object date: [3/14/03 12:00 AM] [1047621600000]
    NOT the same
    From form date:     [3/14/03 12:00 AM] [1047621600000]
    Shared Object date: [3/14/03 12:00 AM] [1047621600000]
    The same

    So your post boils down to the fact that Calendar's set(year, month, day, hour, minute, second) method doesn't change the milliseconds fraction?
    Given that there is this method, I guess it would be nice if there was a method that simultaneously set all fields, but the API does state:
    Previous values of other fields are retained. If this is not desired, call clear() first.

  • Shared iCloud calendar events not updating on shared devices

    I had successfully set up a shared iCloud calendar with my friend which enabled us to edit and view the same calendar on our iPhones and iMacs.
    Everything was working fine until a few days ago when it stopped working. When either one of us created new events, they wouldn't show up on the other person's calendar and when they seldomly did, not even an alert popped up like it used to which the person had to go under the invitations page and accept them.
    What could possibly have gone wrong? We tried deleting the calendar then re-sharing but it stopped working very suddenly.

    Hi trenten7,
    Here is an article that goes through troubleshooting iCloud calendars, including different steps for different devices:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999
    I would start with troubleshooting the two Macs and then move on to the iPhones.

  • How to get reminders for shared iCloud-calendar on iOS?

    Hi there,
    Does anyone know how to get reminders to work for shared iCloud-calendar in iPhone?
    I "own" the calendar and have shared it with my whife and she has full acces to it.
    We use the calendar for events that we both wan't to have reminders for but we can't get it to work!
    If I create an event I get the reminder but not my whife and the same if she creats the event, then I don't get any reminder.
    I checked in icloud.com and there are no reminders set in the event that she creted!
    I have a 4s with iOS6 and my whife have a 3Gs that runs iOS5 (latest).

    Jonas Ericsson

    I think you're seeing a limitation of Apples sharing of calendars. It seems Apple may even be moving away from any sharing. If you use the Reminder program for shared todo lists the only option for sharing now is the app in Mountain lion. Once shared it can been seen on all devices but the fact you can no longer initiate sharing from iCloud or an iOS device is not good news for sharing.
    Seems very un Apple like not to have the best method for sharing this stuff. I have found it incredibly useful for my wife and I.  I have put in feedback requesting better sharing and would encourage anyone needing this stuff to do the same.
    As a side note the 3GS can be updated to ios 6. Seems to run well on my 3 gs.

  • Someone has stopped sharing a calendar with you- can we reshare

    Hello,
    We had two calendars for our office on iCloud - shared throughout one computer and three iPhones. An employee left the company and since then the message has popped up on both calendars "___ calendar is no longer shared - this calendar is no longer viewable because (name of employee) stopped sharing it".
    Is there any way we can re share the calendar or will it permanently stop working because it may have been originally set up by the departed employee?
    Thank you
    Any help appreciated

    Just have the calendar owner resend the invitation to you, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a9cbb.

  • Two Calendars on One Mailbox

    I have discovered a user who has two calendars on their mailbox. When viewed through Get-mailboxfolderstatistics, the second calendar appears as a subfolder of her main calendar. So the mailbox has a ":\Calendar" folder and a ":\Calendar\Sales"
    folder. Both of these appear in Outlook as a fully functioning calendars for her.
    The second calendar is shared with another person. When attempting to modify the permissions from Outlook, the owner of the mailbox gets an error stating "Some permissions cannot
    be displayed. Permission information for this folder could not be accessed." The entire Permissions tab is blank and grayed out.
    I am able to view and modify the permissions using Powershell cmdlets. This is fine for the person who already had this calendar appearing in their Outlook. However, if I grant permission to this calendar for myself, I am unable to add it through the "open
    calendar" button in Outlook. Even if I grant myself permissions to the top level Calendar, I can only add that one, not the Sales calendar.
    This system was migrated from an on-premise Exchange 2003 system before I got involved, so I'm not sure how or when this second folder was created. Is there a way to fix this so that the user can set permissions to this calendar, and so that it can be added
    in Outlook or viewed by others? Or is there no supported method for having two calendars on one mailbox?

    I have managed to get rid of the second/duplicate "Calendar" calendar with the help at http://getsatisfaction.com/apple/topics/howcan_i_delete_an_iphonecalendar
    Now Outlook has a single calendar, I see only a single default calendar on my iPhone and I need to get rid of the second/duplicate (so called) Calendar which appears only when I connect my iPhone to iTunes. No matter what I did and how I synched, this title does not disappear.

  • How to Sync two calendars in iCal

    OK, here is my problem. I can access two calendars with iCal (one is on Google Calendar and the other one is on a Microsoft Exchange 2007 server) how can I synchronize them the best? I want to keep both in their original place, but I also want things to show up in both.

    Stephen,
    It seems to me that you have correctly determined that it makes sense to only publish an identical calendar from one of the computers.
    After appropriately backing up your calendars, you might want to consider Resetting .Mac Sync. It appears as if both of your computers are using 10.4.6, but just in case..."If you sync between computers with different versions of Mac OS X, try to reset the sync data from the computer with Mac OS X 10.4, if possible."
    Make sure that "Synchronize my calendars with other computers using .Mac is checked in the General Preference of the iMac.
    ;~)

  • How can I allow multiple users to edit a single shared iCal calendar?

    Is it possible to allow multiple users to edit a single shared iCal calendar? I also want to provide different permissions to those users. Is this possible through .MAC? Is it possible on Mac OSX Server?

    I would like 2 agenda synced through .Mac but it does not work.
    I have 2 computers and 2 laptops. A very simple agenda with 3 calenders. Myself my partner and the office calender. I want to publish my calender and that of my partner. The office calender I would like to sync so that we can change the office calender at any location.
    I set up sync only for iCall and have a .Mac account. When I change anything on any of the calenders in iCall nothing happens on any of my other locations. Even though the locations are registered as synced. I can see the sync wheel turning but at the end of it the calenders are not synced.
    At this moment I fully understand the publish and unpublished calenders but have no clue what so ever what syncing does for iCall. There seems to be no functionality to it. It does not transport any calender info over .Mac. There is no visable check to see what is happening and the process of syncing is not transperent. Lots of my friends go to me for advise on Apple issues but as far as sync wether iCall or Addressbook I always tell them sync does not work and I have no clue why others have it working. I haven't met any people here in Holland either that got in working. I suppose with iCall you have to get third party software to share calenders editable calenders. Really hopeless situation, wish Apple would just have a manual stating what sync can do and what it can not. Hours wasted on this issue trying to get it to work.
    Hope anyone here can help out.
