Sharing UNcompressed .mov?

a company wants one of my movies submitted as uncompressed .mov file.
how can i do this?
thanks!

.. a company wants one of my movies submitted as uncompressed .mov file. ...
whatever that means..
iMovie is for miniDV imports.. such devices use a codec called 'dv'... which is for sure 'compressed', but on a low level.. (13GB/h... compare to a videoDVD: 2GB/h ); for consumer devices, there's no 'uncompressed' format... uncompressed would be 100s of Gigs for an hour of video
so, as-less-as-possible-uncompressed from a dv.source is indeed: Full Quality, which is, again, a dv-coded .mov ...
or, explaining it different: a miniDV import exported as FQ isn't re-compressed in any manor ...

  • Itunes 12 can't import shared home movie to iTunes library

HI. I am trying to import, or add to my desktop iTunes library, a shared home movie. I have file sharing turned on with both my laptop and desktop. I can see, from my desktop, the shared home movies, and I can even play them, but I cannot find an option to import them into the desktop library. I use my desktop to sync my iPad and ultimately I want to add the movies to my iPad. How do I import a shared home movie from my laptop to desktop, not just see it and play it from sharing?

Join the crowd. If you search this and other forums on the web, you'll find that Home Sharing has limited functionality on PC and Mixed PC-Mac networks. It works fine, Mac to Mac, it appears, but PC's seem unable to talk to Macs or one another on many, many, many people's home shared networks. I hope that Apple finds a way to improve this aspect of iTunes or at least expands its troubleshooting recommendations in the support database.

  • Diff b'twn sharing a movie to DVD and importing movie project to iDVD?

I'm a relative newbie so bear with me if this is a dumb question. What's the difference (if any) between sharing a movie in iMovie 09 to DVD vs opening iDVD and importing a movie project?
Someone at my local Apple store told me the former would only enable you to view the movie on a Mac, while the latter was necessary if you wanted to view the movie through a conventional DVD player. True? Seems odd to me and the iMovie 09 tutorial does not mention this if I recall correctly.
Bottom line, is there a difference? Which is better and why? Thanks.
(I will have to burn some to PAL for relatives overseas)

Not sure for imovie 9, but in iMovie 6 and previous versions, sharing directly from iMovie to iDVD is not recommended because the video will be rendered by both iMovie and iDVD. Importing into iDVD avoided this double rendering. So the quality is better using the import method.

  • After sharing my movie I can only perform rolling edits...

    Hey Guys,
Thanks to anyone that can help me solve this.
I shared my movie and can no longer edit normally with the precision editor.  Every time I adjust one of the edit points the clip I am extending covers a portion of an existing neighboring clip rather than changing the length of my project.  I don't want to loose or cover the neighboring clip's cut.
I am using imovie 10.3 on an airbook.
I am trying to edit my daughter's school project which is due soon, so any timely suggestions are appreciated!
    Thanks.

Burning a movie file onto a DVD disk via the Finder only creates a data disk. What you need to do is create a video DVD disk.
Therefore youi need to use iDVD, import the movie file into an iDVD project and burn the project to a disk which creates a video DVD disk that will play on any settop DVD player.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Uncompressed MOV format

I have exported my video in an uncompressed MOV format. My 2 min. video is 16 GB. The problem is that my video jump or are lagging when played. Is there something wrong with the video or is it my computer that can't play such a video?

Thank you for your answer. I'm making the video to someone else and they
have asked for a MOV format.
I have some other questions about exporting from Premiere Elements 11 to a
    MOV format:
    - Do I get a MOV format when exporting in QuickTime?
    - What is the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit? What is the best choice?
    - What is 'Field type - progressive, upper first and lower first'?
I hope you can help me.

  • Sharing MobilMe movies with others

I recently shared a movie I made in iMovie '09 with friends. One friend and wife could not open the movie on their computer. One was using a Sony PC with Windows. His wife was using Vista. Neither of them could open the movie. Can anyone help with this so I could pass on advice to them as to what they or I should do?

They need to download QuickTime Player, which is a free download from Apple.

  • TS2972 How do I use home sharing to move a movie to another computer

I am trying to move my digital copy of The hunger games to another computer through home sharing is this posssible?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

  • Family sharing - Stream movies to idevice instead of downloading?

    HI!
i Just set up Family Sharing.
All good in apps, but have this annoying thing with movies:
in the past, with my kid's ipad, I used to have my own iTunes account on it so, when going to the Video app, all my movies purchases where ready to stream directly to the device.
Now with Family Sharing, on my kid's iPad, no movies are available for streaming. I (he) need(s) to go to purchased items on iTunes app, choose my profile, then select movies and yes, he's able to DOWNLOAD it to tjhe ipad, but not stream it.
The fact is that this is less comfortable than the previous situation, as he's not able to directly stream them, which is a pity...
I do have eitherway an iTunes 'server' with the old Home Sharing setup, and yes, he's able to get them from the 'shared' tab of the Videos app, but he was already able to do so in the past.
Also, home sharing only works at home, as it needs to get the media from the iTunes library which has Home Sharing enabled, so it's useless (as it was) outside home.
Now, the new Family Sharing is intersting, but I'm annoyed I read on Apple's website that, upon getting to any other member's itunes items, the rest would be able to  DOWNLOAD OR PLAY the items.
    (See here;
    Family Sharing
Either taht info was wrong, or there's something wrong in my case, or the feature is not working for some other reason.
    Any ideas?

Couldn't agree more.   I bought my wife a new iPad and the sharing of the Apple ID was something I was looking forward to switching over to family sharing to simplify trying to manage multiple phone #'s and email addresses under one Apple ID by device and to also prepare for the day when my kids are teenagers and want their own accounts to make their own purchases, etc.   Issues like having 5 devices ringing/buzzing away when someone calls me is annoying and could be tackled by adding Apple ID's and switching to family sharing.   However, the inability to stream movies is an immediate deal killer.   My wife wants to watch a movie while working out and certainly isn't going to wait for an hour for it to download first.   Yuck!

  • Sharing multiple movies to existing Mobile Me Gallery

I have used the Share menu to put lot of movies in MMe Gallery. In that process, is there any way to put a movie that I'm Sharing into an existing album on MMe?

I don't know if it is the best or only way, but I did that by initiating the upload of movies from within an album on the gallery part of my MobileMe account--I mean something done as the as the logged in MobileMe site owner, not from the public version of the gallery. Within gallery section of your MobileMe site, click on the name of the gallery (on the left of the screen), then within the particular gallery click on the upward-aiming arrow within a circle that is at the top of the screen. You then get a window that allows you to browse until you find the file you want to upload.

  • Bringing in an uncompressed .mov...when exported, comes out lower quality??

    hello
i am dealing with a project using adobe flash cs3 and final cut pro 2 on a mac.
i am exporting a quicktime from flash and then bringing that .mov into FC to edit, add music, etc.
when i export from final cut, i see that the clip isnt as crisp as it was when i originally exported from flash?
im wondering what could be the issue. the clip itself is short, roughly ten seconds, although, even if my final result would be a 300 mb clip to still retain that perfect quality, i won't mind.
when i exported from flash, i had to do different trial and errors to get it to keep its full quality. the aspect ratio is 720X480 .. although upon export trying an NTSC it was extremly pixelated. i just ended up doing an uncompressed, no codec, quicktime export...having the final result be 350mb for ten seconds! either way, i love the final result. nice and crisp.
i brought this into final cut...heres the problem, what i am assuming is happening, is there is a setting wrong in the sequence settings. here is what i have it currently set to:
    in the general tab:
frame size 720X480 NTSC DV (3:2)
pixel aspect ratio NTSC - CCIR 601
    field dominace none
    editing timebase 30
    compressor non
    quality 100%
    advanced - compressor none / quality 100%
^^^ i thought maybe the whole ntsc issue is what causes the slight lower quality, considering even though it is the same aspect ratio its not dv footage but just an uncompressed flash video quicktime
^^^ i tried changing the aspect ratio next to frame size to custom/ custom (3:2) ... everytime i clicked okay, and re-opened the seq. settings, it resorted back to ntsc automatically
also the pixel aspect ratio section (the one directly under) only lets you choose ntsc , square pix, or hd - there wasn't even a custom thing to choose for that one
the problem with my final export is that is has slight artifacting on the edges of things...
maybe it isnt the sequence settings, for when i changed the settings to this, the little video box in the canvas of the fcp interface has no artifacting.
so possibly it can be the export settings in final cut?
if i do an export in FC which is an ntsc, it comes out extremly pixelated
the closest thing i can get to 100 quality is doing an uncompressed 10 bit....which is still causing the slight artifacting on the edges of objects.
any ideas of what i can do to fix this problem? it would be extremly appreciated and thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
    thankyou,
    -Mike

    UPDATE:
    i discovered a way,
    upon export,
instead of choosing uncompressed, i chose custom,
i then typed in whatever and exported...came out clean.
i don't know what uncompressed 10 bit caused artifacting though

  • Exporting an uncompressed movie out of AE

I just upgraded to Mtn Lion from Snow Leopard.  One difference is I used to be able to export a QT movie out of AE that was uncompressed.  Now that option is gone, have to compress it with one of the many options. I have a sound added so I can't export stills.  The uncompressed will give me more options as i create different formats. Thanks!!

  • Sharing iTunes movies with family member

Hi everyone and thank you in advance if you can help me at all.
At home my partner and I share my MBP (using only one account), which contains my iTunes library that I use with several of my own devices (ipad, iphone, ipod). My partner is going to buy an iPad this week and I want us to be able to share TV/Movies whilst maintaining separate iTunes libraries on the MBP (we have very different music tastes and do not want to 'pollute' each others' libaries). Any future TV/Movies purchases will not be made from a shared itunes account - in case we break up we'd want to walk away with our respective movies.
Apart from creating a new user account on the MBP for my partner and re-locating both iTunes libraries to the shared 'public' folder so that we can manually add movies and TV to our individual iTunes accounts (which seems like a clunky and hard-drive consuming solution) I'm not sure what to do.
    Is there another way?
    Thanks
    Carrie

    Hi bcarrie,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The method you mention above is the best way to share your iTunes libraries:

The other option would be to backup the iTunes library to an external drive, and then copy it to the new User Account if you want to develop the two libraries independently.

  • Home Sharing - Purchased movies aren't crossing over?

I just got a new laptop, installed itunes and enabled Home Sharing. I was then able to share all my songs from my old computer over to the new system - so far, so good. Most of the movies I had transferred to the new system no problem. However, some of them give me an "The Download of "movie" was interupted. Please shoose "check for available downloads" from the Store menu to resume the download". When I do that, it says all purchases have been downloaded.
These are movies that I've purchased from itunes and are my other computer, so what gives? Any ideas? Help?

    Doh! My mistake!
I just read - straight from iTunes that some films from Fox and a few other studios aren't available in the Cloud!
I'll just leave this here in case someone else missed that too..
It's movies from Fox, MGM, and Universal so I'll just go ahead and not purchase their content.

  • Sharing iTunes movie rentals with Apple TV

I've downloaded  a rental movie from iTunes on my iPad but cannot see it in the menu for rentals on the Apple TV. I have the home sharing function selected on all devices. Any suggestions on how to resolve so I can view on the Apple TV?

Do you mean you rented on iTunes on a computer or on AppleTV from iTunes store?
If in iTunes on a computer check it's still there otherwise it won't show.  If it's more than 24 or 48 hours (US or some other countries) since you started watching the rental will have expired even if you've not finished watching it.
