Sharing with my family

I have 5 family members all with their own apple computers and all with their own itunes accounts. I would like to know how I can easily share music my wife and I have already bought under our Itunes accounts. Is there a better way to share for the whole family going forward than just manually having to autherize each and then refeshing them every so often?

First, the current set up is good. All of you should have separate iTunes accounts. It is a lot messier if you all have one account.
This is what I would do...
Authorise the computers you want to share your content with and do this with all of the family computer that wants to share iTunes content. Open iTunes then go to iTunes>Preferences>Sharing. Check the "share my library on my local network". Do this for all of the computers in the household.
If you are already using this function then there is nothing to change. This is the most convenient way to share different accounts among different users in the same household.

You can drag and drop (this will result in a compressed JPG) or hold the alt key and drag and drop (this will copy the original). You can also select the pictures and choose Export from the File menu.

No. All iTunes purchases are forever tied to the account used to make the purchase.

Creating a private ICloud that will not be shared with my family?

I recently lost (and recovered) all of my data on my phone, so now I'm looking into ICloud to prevent this from happening again. My family currently uses the same Apple ID for itunes and this works fine, but I am under the impression that if i back up all my data on ICloud it will be shared with everyone using this account along with me. Is there a way to create a private SEPERATE ICloud backup that only I have access to?

Go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with a separate Apple ID to create a personal iCloud account. Your synced data, photo stream and backup will be kept separate from your family.
You can continue to share the same ID for iTunes, it doesn't need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.

An app that i had and used to be free can't be shared with my Family??

i've downloaded an app when it was free a long time ago, then i've deleted it. Reciently i've searched it and now it has a pricetag. I tried to buy it in my new iphone 5S (same icloud account) and it didn't charge me After agreeing the purchase because i've downloaded it for free in the past. Thats great, BUT it doesn't appears in Purchases at all!, so i cant share it with my family neither delete it and try to actually pay for it so I can share it. I dont want to be charged if same rules apply! But anyways, please i need a solution! We are a touring band and we need our tuner!. The app is "InsTuner Chromatic tuner". Please help! I use the same tuner. There are now two different versions (I'm not sure if there were two in the past). I know for certain I've downloaded the FREE version in the past to try it but looking under the FREE version of the app, it states I have not purchased it (app says GET in the App Store). I then later purchased either the paid version or the FREE version with the in-app purchase of the Pro version (are you confused yet?)...
1. InsTuner Free - Chromatic Tuner (in-app purchase of Pro version)
2. InsTuner - Chromatic Tuner with Tone Generator (NO in-app purchases & not free but I don't know the price since I've seemingly paid for it)
I have full access to #2 and it shows in my purchases and can use it on all my devices
I have no access to #1, it does not show in my purchases as it shows I have not yet bought it (GET in the App Store)
I don't seem to have the same problem as you but it still seems to be a confusing mess. This has happened in the past with other apps as well (can't say for certain which though) that start out with a FREE version only, then come out with a separate paid version and add an in-app purchase to the FREE version that makes it essentially the same as the paid version. Two versions: one is paid & the full version, the other is FREE but has an in-app purchase that makes it the same as the paid version...again, confusing if you initially downloaded the FREE version and possibly paid for an in-app purchase with that version.
You may want to try downloading the FREE version if you haven't already and see if it works for you.

Remote sharing with a family member

I've read some of the other suggestions, but either I don't understand exactly what the information entailed (a bit too non-specific for my purposes), or it's information that doesn't apply.
What I'm wanting to do is set up access so a family member can get some files from me, without me having to upload things to a filesharing site (way too tedious, time consuming and counter-productive...for ME) for him to download from or have him drive over and borrow my external drive (I'll have to put the stuff on there, then delete it later - also counter productive...again, for ME).
I looked at the Mac Help and seems I should choose Remote Login and have him access through Terminal (I'll have to give him the 411 on Terminal; I'm positive he doesn't even know what it is, LOL). Based on what I'm seeing, it looks like I should choose "Only these users" > "+" > "Administrators." I don't like the Administrators choice but don't know how to just add him, specifically...unless I should add another login on my Mac with his name so it appears under Users. This is a temporary thing and I'll turn remote login off (or just delete everyone but me) and delete his temporary login. This is my guesstimate based on what I read in Mac Help and a traipse through the various options in Sharing.
We're both running Snow Leo 10.6.8; I'm on an iMac and he's on a Macbook Pro. This is my 33 y/o son, so trust isn't an issue. Let me know if I'm on the right track or if there's something else I need to do.

This forum is for Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Macs, and so is probably not the best place for this question. I'd suggest the Mac OS X 10.6 forum.
Unless your family member understands UNIX commands, I would not suggest Terminal. There's too much chance for things to go wrong. Simple file sharing is probably you best bet if you really don't want to use any external service, but I think Dropbox (or a similar service) would be a lot easier since all you or your family member would need to upload and download the files is a web browser. Dropbox gives you 2GB for free, is easy to set up, and never plagues you with spam.

Sharing with large family and many iOS devices

We have a large family -- two adults and four kids -- with multiple iOS devices -- five iMac computers, one airbook, five ipads and three iphones. What is the ideal set up so that we can share music, apps, books, etc., but also maintain our separate identities, contacts, emails, etc.? This appears to be a common problem.

My sister owned an new Ipad and I owned an Iphone 4s and both of us using different apple id. Recently I found out that purchased apps can be shared between family member and login my iphone apple store using my sister apple id (icloud using my own apple id) , however when i download the apps, it is not the purchased version. Sync using itunes also not working.

Hello, I am finishing up High School ready to go to college, and I wanted to make a new iTunes account with my billing information so I could start fresh. I have an iPod synced to a current account, and the rest of my family has their computers synced to this universal account as well. What I'm really trying to do is just create a new account, but find a way to move all of my apps, music, and movies to this account as well, all while keeping the old account untouched. Any infromation for this would be greatly appreciated.

Content can't be moved from the old account to the new one unless the iTunes Store staff says otherwise. You'll be able to use the old content after setting up the new account, but will require the old account's password to be able to update it or make in-app purchases from it.

Music download from the iTunes Store can not be associated with another account. However, if the music has been purchased within the last 3 or so years then there is no DRM on the music and anyone can listen to it. But you should read the iTunes Store TOS to and make sure your family is adhering to it. http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/ww/

Home sharing with different family members

Hi-
I'm trying to get the whole home sharing figured out. I have my PC my iPhone 4, my kids iPod 4's. Itunes in my pc would recognize our pods individually. We added an iPhone 4s for my hubby but iTunes recognizes his as me and not him. Any suggestions to fix this? Siri doesn't realize it's him, he gets all of my contacts, etc. do we have to set up his own iTunes and not be able to do the home sharing?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can use your own ID's for the iTunes Store, so that you each have your own account and content, but you need to use the same ID (doesn't matter which) for home sharing on all devices.

Content is permanently tied to the account it is acquired with.
Apple ID's cannot be deleted.
Simply sign out of the undesired account and stop using it. Sign in with the desired account.

Applications will not be shared with family sharing mac app store

I wanted to ask why some apps on mac app store after you enable the "family sharing" with another family member if I go to "purchase application tab" next to the name of some application there "can not be shared". what's the point if I can not share activate the app.

I am having a similar problem. I get one of two errors: "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)" OR "We could not complete your purchase INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE".
I am having this trouble on a brand new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.1. My firewall is off and no virus software is installed.
I can download and update apps on a different computer using OS X 10.6.8 just fine.
Any other recommendations?

Also it is obvious I would not like to share my Passwords. Can you please help. This feature "Sharing with Friends & Family Members" is functional in 'XMARKS Sync'.

All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another Apple ID, nor can they be updated using any ID other than the ID used to originally obtain them.
