Sharing with other computers

Hello I have a tower pc on xp with itunes 7.5. Everyone other computer in my house has a laptop with wireless connections to a router that is also connected to my pc via a network lead. Now on itunes all their music appears in the left hand column. How do i get access to their music and allow them to hav access to my music. Yesterday one of the other computers' music appeared in the column and has not returned since even though the computer is on and itunes is running. I have all the correct settings ticked in preferences.
Thanks

  • Why my .avi and .mkv files aren't shared with other computers or ipad?

i uploaded few movies to my itunes libary but i can't see them in other computers usind the home sharing.
i can see my movies, but in the movies section it says that there is nothing.
anyone has maybe explanation for that?

should i convert those files to m4v files?

  • E72 internet sharing with other computers

I am having problems with my modem at home and am only able to access the internet via my E72 connected via USB to my computer. Is it possible to share this internet connection with other users on my home wireless network?

You can share the internet access from your phone to other devices by using the Joikuspot application. His effectively turns your phone into a wifi hotspot. There is the premium Joikuspot or Joikuspot light which is free but has limited security. Both are available for download from www.ovi.com.

  • All Music on one computer, but shared with other computers

This has probably been answered here somewhere, but I have yet to find it.
    Situation:
Three PCs in the same house on the same network. I want to store all music on one PC, and share it between the three. I have turned on sharing on all Itunes. I can play Music on all PCs. No album info is displayed from the shared library, and it will not let me create a playlist to burn a CD on the PC that does not have the music physically on it.
Computer 1 - Main PC - Has Music files stored on it.
    Computer 2 - My PC
    Computer 3 - Kids PC
    What I have done:
I have created a mapped drive to the itunes music library (computer 1), so that when ever music is ripped from a CD it is placed there(Comp 2 or Comp 3). When ever music is purchased it is also placed on the mapped drive (Comp 2 or Comp 3).
    Problems now:
If a disc is ripped from Computer 2, it shows up on Computer 1 and 2, but not 3. If a disc is ripped from Computer 3, it shows up on Computer 1 and 3, but not 2. If music is purchased on Computer 2, it shows up on Computer 1 and 2, but not 3. If music is purchased on Computer 3, it shows up on Computer 1 and 3, but not 2.
So the question is: Is there a way to allow multiple PCs to share a mapped drive and update there individual databases to show current information?

You also need to map your iTunes library file. If you are on Windows it is probably in your My Documents folder. Once you find the folder it is in, share it, and then the next time you start iTunes in computer 2 or 3 hold down shift and select the recently shared library file as the library to open. This will allow all computers to read from the same library, but unfortunately they cannot all write to the same library at the same time. The last computer with iTunes open will be the last one to write the new iTunes library. Hope this makes sense.

  • HT3819 can you use home sharing with other computers

i got a new laptop, but my old one has all my songs, and i sync my ipod to that one. I tried home sharing so everty time i download on one laptop, it goes to the other but it is not working.

While it is possible, I have yet to see anyone in these forums report it working successfully.  Simply copy the ENTIRE C:\Users\<user>\Music folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • LAN-"shared to other computers"...not connecting {SOLVED}

    Hi,
I just downloaded the latest Arch 64-bit the other day and thanks to the excellent wikis I have been able to get KDe up and running and change to network manager for my mobile broadband internet.
The only main thing I have a problem with now is connecting to my (VU+ duo) satellite box over LAN with a cat 5 in order to stream my TV service. This has nothing to do with the internet.
The only thing I had to do in other distors in network manager was set up a new wired connection and  , in IPV4, change to "shared to other computers" and it would connect straight away. The satellite box has a static IP address saved into it
when I try now, I get a message "The shared service failed to start"
    ip link:

the address in the tv box is static 10.42.0.65, gateway 10.42.0.1. I never have to enter this info into nm, only in the browser after connection is established
I fired up a live cd of manjaro earlier and was able to connect to the shared link straight away, as usual.
    3 lines from that log:
    Jan 4 13:45:07 localhost NetworkManager[303]: <info> Starting dnsmasq...
    Jan 4 13:45:07 localhost NetworkManager[303]: <info> (eth0): device state change: ip-config -> activated (reason 'none') [70 100 0]
    Jan 4 13:45:07 localhost NetworkManager[303]: <info> Activation (eth0) successful, device activated.
    The result from Arch today:
    s]# journalctl _SYSTEMD_UNIT=NetworkManager.service + _SYSTEMD_UNIT=dnsmasq.service --since 2014-01-04 ^C
is below, at the bottom of the post. I didnt include modem manager as Iam not looking for an internet connection
I am guessing the most important lines are:
    Jan 04 18:25:43 archlinux NetworkManager[224]: <info> Activation (enp3s0) successful, device activated.
Jan 04 18:25:43 archlinux NetworkManager[224]: <warn> dnsmasq exited with error: Network access problem (address in use; permissions; etc) (2)
after googling, I found dnsmasq exitcodes
2 - A problem with network access occurred (address in use, attempt to use privileged ports without permission).
Could it be that I just need to add my user to a particular group to access http over the LAN? I cant find out how to determine which groupd I am in already. I added a load of groups already .

I bought a Mountain Lion upgrade for $20 off the Apple site. I have four other Macs all under the same ID. How can I share the new OS with other computers. Or can I?

You can share it with other Macs under your control (not your neighbor's).  You just need to be logged in under the buying AppleID for updates or to download again.

  • HT201317 My photos in photo stream automatically are shared with other people?

Your photos are not shared automatically. You must select photos and share them with others manually.

spill water on my Iphone and I want to recover photos on my Ipad The pictures on the Iphone were not shared with other apple devices is it possible get my photos from the iCloud ?

Had you set your iPhone up to use Photo Stream?
Had your performed an iCloud backup of your iPhone before it was damaged?
If you did neither of the above, then your photos are not in the cloud, and they are gone.
If you performed an iCloud backup, then it would contain the photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll (taken on the iPhone) at the time of your last backup.  You could restore this iCloud backup to a device.
If your iPhone used Photo Stream, those photos are immediately accessible to your iPad if you set it up to use the same Photo Stream.

  • Networking with other computers after xp updates stops

will networking with other computers  be possible , safely after xp updates stops?

None of the functionality of Windows XP will change.  Everything you can do today you will be able to do next month.  The only thing that is different is the fact that there will no longer be updates issued for XP.  If you
are doing ONLY internal networking with no internet access, you have nothing to worry about.  If you have internet access, then you will need to be especially certain that the anti-virus is up to date, and you have a good firewall running.

  • Syncing Safari with other computers

I just recently discovered that Google Chrome web browser has the ability to sync with other computers, by just signing on. I think this feature would be great with Safari, since it is the web browser that I use most often. I would love to see this option available soon.

My suggestion is to install a client application on your computer, which you can find it the following address (if you're using Windows):
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MobileMeControl_Panel_forWindows
This can help you to sync the bookmarks to your other computer or devices.

  • Home sharing sync with other computers

I have two computers with iTunes. They are logged into my account with Home Sharing setup. We have downloaded asps on the main PC but they don't appear on the other. I assume Home Sharing can make it where both PCs show the same apps. Isn't that right? Is there a setting I'm missing?

    Hello naremaka,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please ensure you have Automatic Transfer enabled, as it is disabled by default.
    Setting up Automatic Transfer
Automatic Transfer can transfer your newly-purchased apps, books, music, TV shows, and movie purchases to your other computers set up for Home Sharing.
To automatically transfer content between computers, click the Settings button in the lower-right while viewing a Home Share and select which content to transfer. Automatic transfer of iTunes Store content is off by default.
Note: The Settings and Import button aren't present if you're using Music Sharing, which is different from Home Sharing.
Automatic transfer applies to new purchases from the iTunes Store whenever they are made. However, updates aren't transferred (such as those from the App Store).
Automatic transfer only applies to iTunes Store content you purchase or download after enabling Home Sharing.
Previously downloaded or non-iTunes Store content can only be manually transferred. It may be necessary to authorize iTunes Store content for playback on other computers.
Audiobooks purchased through the iTunes Store can be automatically or manually transferred.
Home Sharing can't transfer or stream audiobook content purchased from Audible.com. See Audible.com for assistance in using their content on multiple computers.
In addition, rentals from the iTunes Store can't be streamed or transferred to another computer using Home Sharing.
iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer
    Take care,
    Alex H.
