All sorted! dont suppose you know how to fix another problem I have??? for weeks now, since updating to ios5 I think, for some reason every time I have tried to log onto app store it says CANNOT CONNECT TO ITUNES STORE. It's nothing to do with my computer, and I've been to the Geniius bar but they couldnt help and nothing I seem to do lets me update my Apps and even worse, I cant even buy any more. Any suggestions?

While updating my iphone 4s to ios6, I had to restore it. Now every time I connect to itunes, I get the "Set Up Your iPhone" window with the set up as new iphone and restore from backup options. After the restore, I got everything except my apps and music back. Do I need to set the phone up as new again?

I am trying to download a Video from the new iTunes 6 and I do have an iPod Video, but for some reason everytime I check for purchases to download it, I get this error message: "There was an error downloading your purchased music. The disk could not be read from or written to."
For some reason the Apple Team cannot seem to help me with this, does anyone have any idea what is going wrong? I have purchased the video about 1 1/2 ago and no one has helped me from Apple yet. Please let me know....Thanks so much!
iPod Video 60 GB Windows XP ProI had this same issue today. I was able to download songs but not videos. It turned out that the machine that I was downloading on was my work machine and my music storage location was redirected to my company server. The path was
\\Rgafiles-2\bcross$\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
I suspected that this redirection was an issue so I installed iTunes on another maching and was able to successfully download the song locally. I then copied the .m4v file to my original machine.

I had to restore all the files on my pc using carbonite. I reinstalled iTunes and was able to find my music with the help of Apple support. How do I find my podcasts?
This helped, I restored them, but when I go to iTunes they are not there. Is there another step?

How do I manually transfer music with the new itunes update for Windows? I don't want to sync my library and lose all of my music for what I have in my current library.
The same way it was done in every previous version.
Connect the device to the computer.
Right click on the device in iTunes and select Transfer Purchases.
Why would you lose any content by syncing with iTunes?
Is this not the computer that the device is normally synced with? -
Your heat experiences with the MBP 13 2012
Looking to buy a new machine, actually I already picked one, I'm going for a MPB 13.3inch i7 (2012).
Even though, I read a lot of people saying around the internet, that this machine tends to heat a LOT.
I want to know your personal experience with the mbp13 (2012 please, i7 experience would be even better). All kind of people welcome to share, from web-browsing like facebook, to word processing and even video edition or gamers (if you managed to play something on this ).Good, because I have the Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13-inch Non-Retina. I would say this computer really doesn't get hot at all. With your average Internet browsing with nothing else opened this computer is relatively cool and the fan is quiet. If you have multiple applications opened such as Safari, iTunes, Notes, and iPhoto for example, it gets a little warm but the fan is still just as quiet. Now video editing/gaming. When I am editing a YouTube video or playing a game (depending on how graphic intensive/big the game is) alone with nothing else opened, the computer gets fairly warm and the fan is louder. Now if I am editing a video/gaming and have other applications opened the fan can get really loud and the computer can get really hot. When I say 'really hot' I mean REALLY hot, because this is made out of aluminum the outside surface of the MacBook Pro can get even more hot then the inside. Keep in mind that the heat is different depending on what surface I'm on because on my pants, bed, couch, etc. it would be hotter but on a table it would be substantially cooler.

Can you play music with the laptop closed?
Is there a way play music with the Laptop closed? I have a MacBook Pro w/Retina display.
You'll either need to have a keyboard and monitor attached so you can wake the computer with the screen closed or use one of the third-party utilities that keeps the MBP from sleeping when you close the lid such as InsomniaX.

Sharing Playlists and Music on the Same Computer with Different Users
I'm trying to share music and playlists between different users of the same computer.
Ideally I'd like to use the same iTunes music folder for all users, and have the same music and playlists show up no matter which user logs in (without having duplicate copies/files of the same songs clogging up our hard drive).
also would like to be able to sync our shared iPod no matter which user panel we're logged onto.
is any of this possible with the new version of iTunes?

vinceIf you want all users to be able to access the same music, but with different libraries, NikkiG's advice is spot on. However, I thought I'd throw in my 2¢ since I just set this up for a friend.
If you want all your users to have exactly the same library, and not just access to a shared library, do the following:
-move the entire "iTunes" folder (~/Music/iTunes) into the Shared folder or to separate drive.
-in each user's account, remove the iTunes folders (or just move them to a new location until you're positive this method works for you)
-pop open Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and here's where it gets a little dicey; type the following into the command line:
ln -s /Users/Shared/iTunes/ ~/Music/iTunes/
What this does is create a symbolic link (think alias, but more technical and powerful) between the iTunes folder in the Shared folder, and each user's iTunes folder. This way, each user is directly accessing the iTunes library, and not just through the shared area in iTunes itself. This allows them to add/remove music and playlists to the same library.
HOWEVER, this method will mess up if you have multiple users logged in and using iTunes at the same time. -
I have set up home sharing for my music, but I can't access playlists, although I made the entire library available through 'Preferences'. Can anyone suggest a solution?
ok i actually got a id set up and allegedly home sharing is on but the thing is the ipod when syncing keeps saying it can only use one itunes library do i want to erase my songs? i do not want to erase my songs. my itunes library i originally used is on my other computer which has no more disk space to add music to and this computer the xp also has not enough disk space to put both libraries on .. I need to move an iTunes library from Computer 1 to Computer 2. Can I do this through Home Sharing, by dragging and dropping library items from one to the other? The library consists of iTunes purchases, home shared items and music/movies from our personal collection. Both computers have had all the accounts authorized, so I don't anticipate an issue there. I'd like to do this so that my son's ipod is impacted as little as possible -- specifically, his game scores/levels and other 3rd party data remain intact after the 1st sync and the organization of his icons remain intact.
Is there a way to do this smoothly and easily, protecting his ipod data/organization?Sorry, I obviously wasn't clear. If you replicate the library from Computer 1 to Computer 2 by copying it, then all will be well. I routinely sync my iPhone and iPad both at home and at work using a single library that I migrate between the two locations via an external drive which is kept up do date using SyncToy.
Backup the iPod touch on Computer 1.
Copy the entire iTunes folder from Computer 1 to Computer 2, replacing any existing iTunes folder on Computer 2.
Check that content is accessible in the migrated library. (Won't be a problem for a standard iTunes library where all the content is inside the iTunes Media folder which in turn is inside your iTunes folder).
Connect iPod touch to Computer 2.
Sync.
In the unlikely event that something goes wrong (it won't) then you can connect the device back to Computer 1 to restore it.
Note device backups are not stored within the iTunes library and stay on the machine on which they were created. It is theorectically possible to migrate them but there isn't really any point. Once you have synced the iPod with the copy of the library on Computer 2 then Computer 2 will make its own backup of the device.
