Sharpening-Shift when export/convert a RAW

I have a really big Problem:
If i convert or export (compressing / pre sharpening deactivatet) a RAW - File from Lightrom 4.3 (or ACR 7.3) too Photoshop CS6 13.01 (as a .tiff / smartobject)
I have a little clarity an sharpening shift. Colorspaces are the same etc.
All Drivers an both Programms are Up-to-Date etc.

How are you measuring size? If in bytes, why are you concerned about the size in bytes compared to a RAW file of the same pixel dimensions?
JPG, Original Size, Quality 12 is the best JPG file you can create of an Image in Aperture.

Artwork shifting when exporting or saving for web?

Have been creating some simple icons in Illustrator (CS 5.5), but the artwork is shifting when I try to export. For example, I'll create a 30x30px artboard, draw the icon inside the artboard, end export as a PNG. When I do this, even though the artwork is completely within the bounds of the artboard (no drop shadows or anything like that that would extend outside the artboard), there is some slight clippling that occurs in the exported icon. It's like Illustrator is shifting the artwork to the right and/or down 1 pixel as it exports. Any ideas what might be happening here?
In the meantime, as a work-around I've just been copying the artwork from Illustrator, pasting it into a 30x30px canvas in Photoshop, pasting the artwork, adn then doing Save for Web. This works fine, but is an extra step that I'd rather not have to do.

I tried enabling "Use Preview Bounds" as you suggested, but it still showed everything within the artboard. This was as expected since I set the button stroke for inside alignment rather than centered alignment when I created it.
I've attached an image showing the icon in 3 states. The left most image is the icon as it appears in Illustrator shown within the artboard. Actually the artboard was created by clicking on the icon. When "Use Preview Bounds" was enabled, it lined up perfectly with the artboard lines. The middle image shows the icon in the Save for Web dialog preview. You can see that it already looks shifted. The last image on the right shows the exported icon where the right and bottom edges looked cropped.
As I mentioned, if I create a 30x30px canvas in PS, copy the artwork into it, and export using Save for Web for PS, it looks fine.

Gamma shift when exporting MP4

I know this is a known issue, but I have yet to see a viable solution.
Working off PC and exporting via Adobe encoder.
When exporting H.264 in an mp4 container, there are significant gamma shift issues that void several hours/days of color correction work. It really washes out the color. I have viewed these exported mp4's in quicktime and VLC on multiple computers and the issue is still present.
Quicktime MOV exports seem to be fine, it is only when exporting H.264 mp4.
Some have mentioned changing the NVIDIA settings which seems to be an internal fix for that monitor, but I am exporting video's that will be going on the web for distribution. I really need consistency across all media platforms.
This is a very big deal that needs attention and hopefully a fix is in the works if it is not already out there.

The above demonstration is the same in VLC as well.
We exported black for a few seconds and then faded into a jpg image using the generic fade in effect.
All that was used in this clip was a jpg image at the end that we faded into. For this test we used no video.
Running Premiere Pro 8.1 Caravan on a Dell Precision T5610 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v2 @2.10 GHz 32gb RAM
Working off a Synology diskstation ds1513 20TB 4GB RAM
Only third party installed effects are film impact transitions, but they were not used in this clip.

Color shift when exporting to sRGB (mac)

I just noticed the following: when I export an image (shot with my Nikon D80, RAW, developed from within Lightroom 2) as JPEG, 100%, sRGB color space, I get a strange color shift towards red, more saturated colors. Everything looks great when I view my image after export from within Finder or Apple Preview. However, when I drag that same file into the browser (Firefox) or then order prints from a photo service, the heavy red color shift is noticable. I've attached an image for you guys to see what I mean.
What am I doing wrong? Can someone please help?
I'm thinking that it might have to do with my color calibration? (I calibrated my monitor using the Spyder3 Elite device)
Edit: By the way, I just turned off my color calibration (changed display profiles), but that didn't fix the problem. Also, the color shift is not visible in Safari (I guess it is able to handle color profiles and Firefox isn't). But still, the color shift is there if I upload photos to a photo printing service and order prints. So, maybe there's something wrong with the color profile that Lightroom embeds in the JPEG file??

...from both Nikon and Canon RAW sources (I use a 5D MkII), but is it an LR3 issue or a Mac issue? Having read all the posts, I'm still struggling, but here's my contribution.
A while ago I noticed that colour files, once uploaded to the net, were way too red and saturated as per image below. Resolutions attempted so far below (all to no avail):
Tested different web browsers; found Firefox and Safari to be similar (to each other), Chrome very much brighter, but none of them are even close to original, so I'm not sure the Firefox loss of colour management mentioned by another contributor explains the issue.
Change web display vehicle; I find the same on my new web site as I did on Jalbum and various others.
Calibrate monitor (of course). Screen to output is 99% perfect on this monitor, when soft proofed with correct ICC profiles, so I very much doubt the wide gamut monitor is at fault. (I do find it hard to agree with the notion of it being the wide gamut screen. The whole point of a wide gamut screen is that it cn show a wider range of colours (e.g. in Adobe 98), and when an image's colour space is reduced (e.g. to sRGB) a wide gamut screen can still show that - especially if it is the same screen that didn't have this problem a year ago...).
Looked at images on a narrow-gamut screen. Same problem.
Changed colour space from Adobe 98 to ProPhoto in LR3 & CS3. Suspected mismatch between LR3 and CS3 because RAW files converted to DNG and edited in LR3, then pixel edited in CS3 and returned to LR3, come back in a different colour. Using ProPhoto has resolved that particular problem, but made no difference to faulty JPG display once on net.
Tested JPG conversion compared to other file formats; match between JPG and original RAW and PSD files perfect, whether displayed in LR3, CS3 or Preview, and whether exported to JPG from LR3, CS3 or Bridge. Problem definitely only occurs once images are on web.
Does anybody know anyone who doesn't have this issue and is using LR3 on a Mac with CS3 and OS 10.5.8?
Any updates or new ideas most welcome.

Color shifts when exporting a picture sequence in both FCP/Compressor

For a project I had to make a movie from still images. I imported the .tiff files and edited them in the right order. Then I added transitions and motion to the images (zoom in or zoom out). When I playback the sequence in Final Cut Pro everything looked perfectly fine. But when I exported to Quicktime... from both Final Cut Pro itself as from Compressor I got strange color shifts. I rendered like 10 times and every time two or three photo's were affected with a purple/blueish haze over them. Finally, the 11 time I tried it rendered as it was supposed to. It felt like playing Russian roulette.
The question that is bugging me: what can have caused this?
I tried both HDV and ProRes as timeline setting. What is the best setting for working with still images? And is .tiff the best format to work with or can I better convert to .png or .jpeg?
I hope someone can tell me what happened that horrible night.

The problem is that you haven't answered Jerry's question. it is very difficult to troubleshoot these sort of questions from a distance if you don't systematically check for the obvious things. Jerry is one of the best resources here and if he suggests a possible solution, it's a good idea to explore that first.

Pattern swatches are shifting when exported to PDF and viewed in Preview/GoodReader

I've tried for days to find an answer to this question, but haven't succeeded. Please also be aware that I'm a self-taught Adobe Creative Suite user. I'm working on a Mac with CS6.
I work for a small publisher that produces knitting books. The problem is this: our tech editor has created charts in Illustrator using the pattern swatches feature. (These are knitting charts. Each square contains a pattern swatch representing the knitted stitch.)
I am then placing these charts in their native .ai format into an Indesign file and exporting them to PDF. In Acrobat, the charts look fabulous. In the Mac Preview reader and in GoodReader, the charts do this...
... the pattern swatches shift around inside their squares. Each of those dots should be centered inside their squares. In Preview, when I resize the application frame, the pattern swatches move as I re-size the frame. Any ideas about what might be happening here?
I've tried saving the charts as PDFs and placing those into the InDesign file. Doesn't help. Exporting the charts as images (jpg or tif) works, but I have to make the resolution/file size ridiculously large to get the quality of the vector image. I'd rather place the .ai files into the .indd file if possible.

Try using File>Object>Expand on a copy of the original before making the PDF for placing.

Major placement shift when exporting to PDF

I have InDesign files that were created in CS2. I had CS3 for about a year; some of them have been edited in CS3 during that time. I am now using CS4 to edit them, then exporting them to PDF. (Previous versions of the files have all been exported to PDF with no problem.)
I'm using a MacBook Pro, System 10.6. I upgraded to CS4 when I got it, about a month ago.
Occasionally, some of the elements shift dramatically on the page (several inches) in the PDF. (Some of this shifts the elements completely off the page.) I think it's limited to master-page items, but it's not happening consistently, so that's hard to say. Elements include both text and graphic boxes.
I haven't had layout adjustment turned on at all.
I can replace the shifting items and that tends to fix an individual problem, but I've got 60 files and fixing one doesn't take care of the others.
Any suggestions on what might be causing the problem? I've got a major client who's starting to get irritated, so suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Peter, thanks for continuing to follow up on this thread. I had actually already found the thread you mentioned. It seemed to describe the problem I was having, but it was solved by turning off Layout Adjustment ... and as far as I can tell (checking both ID3 & ID4 files), I've never had Layout Adjustment on.
I've been able to correct the problem by replacing the graphics that are shifting, and that may be what I need to do if and when it occurs in the future. (Replacing graphics are a real pain when the shifting graphics are on a master page that is the basis for another 6 master pages. I have to rebuild those pages, also.)

Layout shifting when exporting notation to PDF File

Hi,
Wrote a sonata in logic. Made notation. Now I want to "export" it by printing into a pdf file. When doing so - the pdf-Layout DOES NOT match the Layout which I see on screen in the notation/score window. It seems to be "compressed". F.E. on the screen there´s a instruction-word "ritardando" (classical for "slow down") which has enough space and does not "touch" the notes. In the PDF however the same word/position the word "crosses" the notes or the beam and thus is not readable.
It seems the distance between the upper system and the lower system (right&left hand -....piano) is "reduced" when printing into pdf File.
Any Ideas ?

What PDF preset are you using? If high quality print, try flattening the image, and saving again. If that works, then it might point to something fonts. Obviously a flattened JPG is entirely useless as a PDF file, so it needs fixing.

My text boxes shift when exporting to PDF

I'm having an odd problem. I'm using a file that I've created and whenever I export my INDD file to PDF, some of my text boxes shift and rotate.
As you can see in the example below, my "language" box gets rotated 90º and pushed slightly left and off the page.
I've never encountered this problem before. Also, if I reorder the layers, other text boxes will end up moving. I've even tried inserting blank frames into the document with no success.
I'm not getting any errors from the program either.
Please advise!

OK, overridding would have been the first suggestion, so we'll move on. Are you patched to 7.0.4? If not, try that first, and if there's still a problem, try exporting to .idml. See Remove minor corruption by exporting

Color shift when exporting to tiff

Hi,
I have a vector image which I created using multiply transparency layers, however when I export it to tiff or import it to psd, the color changes (it gets darken). The ai file is in cmyk.
The image is intended for print and will most likely be place in a word document. How should I set the color setting/profile so that I could get a consistent color across the different file formats?

You take an object and set multiply to interact with others, ok? So select that object and all object underneath influenced or token by multiply. Go to Object > Rasterize. Select high for the resolution.
After process, color changes?
If yes, stop and report me
If no, try exporting to tiff and tell me results

Color Shifting when exporting AVID DNxHD

Hey everybody,
I'm stuck. I have been have warp stabilization problems in Premeire CS6, so now Im using AE to do the work.
Im noticing that when I export my clips using Quicktime - Codec DNxHD, 1080p, 23.976, 175, 10 bit. Color Space 709
When I re-import the clip back into Premiere the colors are darker. I'm not putting the clips into another program,
just render files out of Premeire (DNxHD) and import them back in.
I really need help, I'm having to manually color correct the footage to match the original footage.
The project footage is Canon 7D H264. Plus Premeire CS5 didn't have this issue.

Audio shift when exporting to quicktime

Frustrated! Everytime I export my iMovie in iMovie 09, the audio shifts at some point in the movie. I dont know why. I've tried several different edits and each time it shifts in a different place. Shift= audio way out of sync with video.

Colour shift when exporting from lightroom 5 into Photoshop CS6

Hi there,
Having a really weird problem in Lightroom/Photoshop that no amount of Googling can seem to fix.
When I grade an image for colour in lightroom, and then use the "edit in" function to send the file to Photoshop, the file is a completely different colour.
Here's an example:
I'm using SRGB for both Lightroom and Photoshop, and the "preserve embedded profiles" is selected for RGB, CMYK, and gray.
If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be great. I don't want to have to use ProPhotoRGB, because most of my work is delivered online.

I am also having this issue with the "Merge to HDR Pro" function in both LR5.2 and PSCC. When the image is viewed at 50% image size in the HDR app everything appears fine. However, once you start to zoom in the image begins to crop out segements starting on the right hand side. See the screen shots below:

Crashing when exporting Raw to Jpeg Windows

when converting from raw to jpegs sometimes my computer crashes completely, a complete stop!!!!
other times it comes up with problem and needs to shut down listing

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same problem and am hoping perhaps to get some new feedback. I also have used all the same settings,
the best quality settings that I can do on export, but the quality I get when I convert to JPG is very poor. I do save at 100% because I want to send some of my images to stock agencies that want JPGs but at the very best possible quality. I have experimented in changing the resolution to 300, resizing to 18MP (which is the native size from my camera (Canon 7D), leaving the resizing box unchecked, and tried all all levels and types of sharpening, and none of these settings makes any improvement. I honestly do not think this is an issue of color calibration. The images that I get when I convert from RAW to JPG are are very poor quality, but not so much noise as they appear pixelated. I am going to try to attach a screen capture of a RAW image and a JPG that has been converted. Realize there is a bit of loss of quality in both of these images as they were done by the print screen function, then saved as BMP and then JPG..But doing it this way actually produced a much better quality image than exporting the RAW file to JPG in LR3. Both of these images were saved at 100%
The image at the top is a small segment of the RAW capture at 100% and the bottom one is a segment of the same area of the exported JPG at 100% Note the writing and how it is very pixelated. I think you would agree that it is quite a deterioration in quality. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry that the images do not appear to be showing up on the thread. They do show up when I uploaded them and when I edit them, but I don't see them once I do the update. Any suggestions there would be appreciated as well.

Converting Canon raw files

I use a Canon 30D. When I convert the raw files with the default Canon software, there are no issues. However, using Elements 6, the JPEGS appear with lots of jagged edges. Why would this be?
