Sharper Image Projector EC-PJ10

I know that this projector isn't going to be the best thing since sliced bread, but I'd expect more from their manufacturer.
I sent an email asking their manufacturer a simple question, what's the specifications of the product, resolution, lumens output, etc.  They tell me that they can not help people that don't buy from them directly.  I remind them that it doesn't matter, they are obligated to release these specifications upon release, after all, I am going to be performing a full studied review, and without specifications, the review won't be complete, and will get a bad rating on customer support.  They tell me the same thing again.  I send another email requesting it to be forwarded to their general manager.
That is I hope, Best Buy ships the product.  It's on backorder for me, on my order.

  • Making QT Movie slideshow from iPhoto/iMovie with sharp images

Can anyone tell me how to make a QT slideshow that has sharp images after the rendering stage, or if there is any software that can make a good slideshow for a photographer to show clients

It all depends on your "distribution" format and the video codecs used in it.
iMovie isn't a good tool because it is intended to be used on true "video" and would have to convert your images into video formats.
To avoid conversion your should use QuickTime Pro to assemble your project and leave it in a QuickTime format (no exports to iDVD).
Video formats have a predefined frame rate. TV is 29.97 frames per second and your single image file would have hundreds of "duplicates" depending on the frame rate.
QuickTime Pro can create files that have widely varying frame rates. You could have one frame play for 10 seconds and the next play for 1 second. Mix and match to your hearts content.
Older version of iPhoto could also make these low frame rate files but newer versions make your image files into "video" so that leaves iPhoto out (for the most part). There are some tricks but I won't go into them here.
To make a project using QuickTime Pro you would first resize your images to the final distribution dimensions. For playback via computer your could size them to the dimensions of your screen. For "projector" projects size them at 640X480 (4:3 aspect).
You can import these as an "Image Sequence" using QuickTime Pro if you want all the images be displayed at the same frame rate.
Let's assume you have 50 images from a multi-megabyte digital camera. You can use iPhoto to export them (to a Desktop folder) to resize them to computer display size (your screen resolution) or to a fixed size (640X480 for TV or projector).
Use the Finder to rename the files in sequence (1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc.) and open the image sequence via QuickTime Pro.
You could also add them one at a time to an audio track. This allows you to vary the display time of your images.
Open the first of your image files using QuickTime Pro.
Select all (Command-A) and Copy (Command-C).
Open an audio file with QuickTime Pro and make a selection (via the controller to set in and out points). Once you have a selection use the Edit menu and choose "Add to Selection & Scale".
This will add your single image file to the duration of that selection.
Leave the "out" point as your next "in" point and make a new selection in the audio track. Open your next image file and repeat the steps above. If you want to display all black (no video) you could move the selection further forward in the timeline (past the previous image).
Now your file has your series of images or individual files set in a timeline. You could "Delete" the audio track (to play just the images) to keep just your varying frame rate movie.

  • Which aperture setting takes sharper images. f/8 or f/11?

I have t2i (550D) and two lenses i.e. 18-55 mm and 55-250 mm. Any idea how to take sharper images of landscape by selecting a particular aperture setting? I read on a different forum that for sharper images f/8 or f/11 are the ideal settings. Any suggestions?

Seems this topic is having many hits so let me give some more info that might be useful to all:
When you need to know real detail analysis of a lens, there is no better place to check than:
    PhotoZone
Specific to your question are the 2 links below. Just scroll down to MTF  or Modulation Transfer Function  also known as spatial frequency response (Way sharpness is measured objectively) That let you know exactly what you wanted to know about the sharpness.
    Link to EF-S 18-55mm IS

The site should be very useful for any one eager to know specifically a detail about any lens so enjoy.

  • Creating Pdf's under 1 mb with sharp images

Hi how does one save a PDF (Acrobat 9) from illustrator (CS3) to be under 1 mb but still retain sharp images?  Do i have to resave images as lower res rgb's instead of hi res cymk? or?

Most Illustrator files are composed of vectors which are not easily compressed. Is that the case with your file? But you're referring to images ("resave as lower res rgb's"). Do you have high-resolution images included in your Acrobat file?
If they are large images you can use the PDF Optimizer in Acrobat 9 Pro or Acrobat X Pro to reduce the image resolution and reduce the PDF file size.

  • PHOTOMERGE in CS6 is not producing sharp images

I am trying to create a panorama using 5 images.  I did this 6 months ago using Photoshop CS5 and it produced a nice sharp image like my originals were.  Using CS6 it is not sharp at all, to the point of being quite useless.  If I can't figure this one out I am just going to go back to CS5.
both panorama's were created from the same 5 images, in the second one I just wanted to make it a bit warmer because the white balance in the first image doesn't accurate reflect the colours that I saw.  The second one created in CS6 looks really bad.  Has anyone else been experiencing this?  And are there any solutions besides scrapping CS6 in favour of CS5?
    Thanks

Your second image looks motion-blurred and/or blurred because of lens issues.
Were there multiple exposures from which Photomerge could have chosen that particular section of the image?  I ask because it looks like the noise pattern is completely different in the one than the other.  I'm guessing it chose differently which shot to use for that area.
Are these converted directly from raw files during the Photomerge?
I don't know what to suggest except perhaps dialing in more noise reduction in the raw converter and seeing if that will help Photoshop to pick the sharper of multiple overlapping areas.

P.S., For what it's worth, I've been doing Photomerges in Photoshop CS6 today and not having any problems with sharpness.

  • I tower sharper image ipod connector bad .Can this be repaired or replaced

I have a sharper image Itower model # S1353 and it will not play. My kid said someone fell into it while it was playing and messed up the ipod jack in the tower. Nice unit can it be repaired and where can I get a new pod jack for this? thanks

Sorry, but I doubt that you can get it fixed. Sharper Image is out of business (the current company bought the rights to the name, but is not the same company and provides no service for products sold by the former SI) and left no information I can find on any possible repair services. You can try to look for an electronics repair service in your area and see if they could perhaps replace the jack, but my suspicion is that it would cost more to repair than to just buy something else.
    Regards.

  • Ipod touch does not work with hex from sharper image

I just bought an ipod docking/speaker from sharper image (Hex) for my ipod touch.  My ipod does not work on it. I have also had problems playing my ipod touch music on ihome products - works on some but does not work on others. Is it my ipod touch. thanks.

Some docks are not compatible with iOS 5. Ceeck with the manufacturer. Other users have post problems with iOS 5 and iHome docks too.

  • Iphone integration with sharper image itower

i am very very close to purchasing an iphone, but before i do, i would like to know if anyone has success using the ipod function with the sharper image itower.

It is very frustrating! I also have the Sharper Image KO 500 Bluetooth stereo speakers and used them with my previous phone, the Samsung Blackjack, which worked perfectly with the speakers. When my contract expired, I purchased an iPhone 3Gs because I liked the phone, the apps AND the new A2DP capability. I was soooooooooo disappointed when the speakers wouldn't play the music coming out of the iPhone even though the phone said it was "Connected." I called Apple support and they said that there was no documentation on the new iPhone and Bluetooth speakers. I've scowered the Internete to no avail and am as frustrated as you are. I don't have a solution, so I guess I'm just venting. At least it's good to know that I'm not alone in my frustration. I guess misery DOES love company. If you by chance find a fix, PLEASE post it! THANKS!

  • Problem connecting MacBook to a Sharp video projector

One of the great things I like about Macs is the easy way they (usually) connect to a video projector. Unlike a lot of my friends who run PCs with Windows I never had any problems whatsoever connecting my MacBook to a projector at the university and start my presentations.
    Until today that is.
I tried to connect my MacBook with Apple's mini-DVI to VGA adapter to a Sharp ("Notevision") video projector and although the MacBook had the projector (even with its correct name "PG-M20X" and available resolution settings) listed under "Displays" immediately, I couldn't get the projector to show any more than "no signal" whatever input source I chose...
What did I do wrong? Or is it the projector that is somehow "incompatible"?! Please help!
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9) Core Duo 2GHz, July 2006
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Core Duo 2GHz, July 2006

Maybe this could help as well:
After we tried several things with the MacBook (reboot, "detect displays" etc.), we successfully connected a Powerbook (15", FireWire 800, late 2003) to the projector, using Apple's DVI-VGA Adapter.
So that did work out fine, but the MacBook didn't work on the projector. The cable that came with the projector was a VGA--DVI-A cable: there were only a few pins on the DVI-end of it going into the DVI-Connector on the projector. Could it have something to do with that? But why didn't the Powerbook have any problems connecting to the projector then?

  • Convert rtf to pdf with good font and sharp images

I can convert rtf to pdf in Microsoft Word (2004) using the Print function but the resulting document doesn't maintain the same font and the images look a bit hinky as a result.
I tried to convert from rtf to pdf in Acrobat 9 but it sez unsupported file type.
I just want a really clean conversion that keeps the images sharp and the fonts looking good.  Am I out of luck?

  • Non-sharp images

I recently downloaded and installed Lightroom 5, upgrading from Lightroom 4. The catalog converted and it was working OK. I then imported images from a CF card.. When opening an image Lightroom starts to open it, but the image never gets sharp. I can open the file in Photoshop and it works. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks for the note.  The camera effects are set (and have been set) on “normal” which is what I hoped the images would look like. None of the other settings are what I really want (e.g., I don’t want my  photos of an Autumn scene with bright colorful trees to be in sepia).  I have a sinking feeling that the RAZR camera is just not very good and that I must always carry my point and shoot if I want any kind of reasonable photos.  My daughter’s phone takes such good photos that she uses it exclusively (hers is an iphone).  I doubt that I will be in her shoes anytime soon.

  • Avatar - how to get sharp image?

I tried a using a small jpeg picture as avatar but it turned out even more blurry by the time it was approved.  Then tried a clip art that was 165 X 165 pixel.  When I reduced image size to 128 X128 it just got more blurry.
So question is how does one get a sharp avatar?  I have only CS3 to work with.  Some of the pictures, and all of the clip art  seem relatively sharp.

well, the biggest one is 48 if i remember correctly(the one from the popup profile)
    HOLY SMOKES, YOU'RE RIGHT!
I wasn't trying to be a pedantic smarty-pants about the 46px vs. 48px. The only image I checked the properties on was the one seen in the left column, which does, indeed measure out to 46 × 46. That's the size I used when I created my avatar. I never measured the avatar as displayed in the profile pop-up, because even when taking a pretty long look, they appear virtually identical.
Why they'd hassle with two different display sizes of only 2 px difference is indicative of how Jive has their priorities screwed up.
I'd LOVE to hear the explanation about how they came to the decision where they thought this was the smartest way to manage assets.

  • How can I create clearer, sharper images and buttons in Muse?

How can I create buttons and images that have a vector like clarity? When I upload images (buttons, jpegs and pngs) a lot of the time they seem to have a slightly fuzzy quality to them. I have read previous posts on this matter and none have helped. Any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you place your images in exactly the size you saved them in Photoshop or whatever, Muse doesn’t touch it.
The quality in this case is the quality you saved the image.
The best way is, to examine in Muse the available pixel size of the image and then use Photoshop to obtain this size
A helpful widget to examine the potential size of an image in advance, is the "lore ipsum"-Muse-widget, that you find in the free widget collection "Andrew’s Prototypes":

  • Process for Sharpe images

    Hi,
I have read through the forums and followed a lot of the suggestions. But I still find images appear out of focus once placed into Muse. My current workflow is creating the image in illustrator (if vector, most of mine are), save for web at right size. Place into Muse. For some unexplained reason, some graphics look great and others look out of focus? Even though I use the same workflow?
Can anyone suggest a solid workflow for rendering vector images for the use in muse.
    Thanks in advance

Turn off the Convert Opaque PNG Images to JPEG option in Site Properties.
By default Muse will convert an opaque PNG image to JPEG to produce a generally much smaller image (and thus faster page load times). This works well if the original image is photographic in nature, but doesn't work as well for computer generated illustrations or other line art since JPEG compression introduces noise and softens such images.
