    Hi,
In Inventory management there is a which helps you "Set expiration Date Check". This allows you to make sure that the shelf life of the material is checked before delivery.
In Material master, you would need to enter relevant information in the "Plant Data/Stor. 1" tab page (Min remaining shelf life, total shelf life). Also in IMG settings, you need to activate the check for both Plant and movement type. The path is as follows:
IMG Settings > Material Management > Inventory Management and Physical Inventory > Goods Receipt > Set Expiration Date Check. TCode: OMJ5
    Cheers.

  • Shelf Life Expired Material will automatically be transferred to block stk

    Hi,
We have purchased a material, RM u2013 XYZ, Qty u2013 5000 kg, Mfg date u2013 01.06.2010 and Expire date is 30.09.2011. The material was received on 25.06.2010. Presently the stock of material is lying as unrestricted type.
I want to know that when the shelf life of the material will be expired, the material will atomically be transferred to block stock. How do I configure the same?
Further, is there any standard alarming system as to know the shelf life of material is going to be expired?
    Regards,
    Amit

The problem is that the section of the program (QA07) that blocks the stock  runs first.  Therefor all "expired" stcok within the time frame specified is moved.  When the program runs the section to create inspection lots, it will only take into consideration stock that is in unrestricted stock.  Since the stocks have already been moved to blocked stock, there is no stock in unrestricted inventory and hence no inspection lots.
In your case, in the section "Batch status change when expiration date is reached"  you need to untick the "Block batch" and remove and values iin "Initial run in days" in this section.
In the section above that tick on "Block batch at inspection date" and maintain a value in "Initial run in days".
This will have the effect of creating lots when the next inspection date falls within the window specified and will move the material to blocked stock on the inspection date.
Keep in mind that this is all working on the "Next Inspection Date" of the batch.  Not the expiration date.  So you should have a process to keep the next inspection date and the expriation date in sync.
To cover yourself and make sure that batches are blocked if the expriation date is reached, set up QA07 to run again immediately after the above job.  In the varinat for this run, tick back on the "Block batch" and set a value in the "Initial run in days".  This will then block any stocks missed in the inspection lot creation process above.

  • Any Config Option to Remove Shelf Life from Material Spec Summary Tab?

    Hi All,
We are on PLMv6.1 and have been using a custom section for Shelf Life for both Trade and Material specs to meet our business needs while we were on 6.0. At this time, we would like to remove the "internal" Shelf Life section from Material Trade specs Summary tab and not have it included in eQ. We have found that having two instances of Shelf Life confusing for users. Is there any method for us to config the Material Shelf Life Section "Off" as there is in the Trade Spec?

At this time, there is no config to turn this off. You may want to consider submitting an enhancement request. you could try utilizing section level editing to disable it, however, it will still be visible. this would not affect eQ, however.

  • Doubts in Shelf life scenarios........

    Hi All,
I have some doubts regarding Shelf life scenarios:-
    1. In material master there are 2 fields in Plant/stor.1  view those are Min. rem. shelf life and Total shelf life.
the field "Total shelf life" is ok. this field means in how long the perticular product will get useless and we can decide it at the time of material master creation for ex. for a perticular material it may be 30 days or 4 months etc.
but how can be decide the field Min. rem. shelf life bcoz as I know its mean How many days are remaining to get the product useless.and we can decide this field, if we know the manufactring date of product and  total shelf life. hence we can calculate it
as suppose total shelf life for a product= 30 days
                       Manufacturing date =  1 jan 2010
                       current date =  20 Jan 2010
so  Min. rem. shelf life   =  10 days
but here in material master how to calculate Min. rem. shelf life, and why its mandatory field, if we put Total shelf life field.
2.whats the use of Rem. shelf life field in po or what will its impact, while shelf life is only provide the impact to GR.
3.In GR,its mandatory to put the date in the field "Date of Manufacture" or we can get it any other ways excluding batch.
4.In GR there are a field "Shelf Life Exp. Date" ,we can get through Date of Manufacture (from gr) + Total Shelf Life (from Material  Master) here again then whats the use of "Min. rem. shelf life" field  shows in Material master and PO.

    Hi Himanshu,
I mean if a goods are recived under the expiration date and min shelf life is also ok.
First of all no business will allow to receive already expired date into the premises.
but goods are issue at that time when date has been expired,so how this scenario is run/maintained.
At this instance system will throw an error while Goods issue " Goods expired , kindly check expiry date".
    Hope this helps.

  • Shortfall of 818 days against remaining shelf life

    Hi Experts:
I am trying to perform MIGO for an inbound delivery coming from a Scheduling Agreement.  I got the errror "shortfall of 818 days against remaining shelf life". I checked the material master, the shelf life of the material is 182 days only. How could it be? I would appreciate receiving solutions to the problem.

    hi,
    Pls check some points:
You enter the shelf life data into the storage view of the material master record. This data includes:
Maximum time a material can be stored
Minimum shelf life a material must have available to be accepted by the system
Percentage of the total shelf life that must still be available if the goods are to be sent to another distribution point
Time unit used for the shelf life data (days, weeks or years)
Total number of days that the goods can be kept u2013 from production to the shelf life expiration date...
If anything else will soon update it..

  • Self life of material

    Hello SAP gurus,
I have an outbound number and for that the remain shelf life of material  43281 is defined  >30 days for customer group X and Y. The material has been delivered with a shelf life less than 30 days. How is it possible when we donu2019t change the customer group.
Could some one please help me on this?
    Thanks

real shelf life managment can only be done with batch management.
Then you have to setup the batch search strategy accordingly to only pick batches that meet the requirment.

Are you in a ERP system or in a industry solution?
is it a standard material type like ROH and FERT, or a customized own material type?
I have rarely been im OMT3, which I usally need to do when adding own subscreens with Z.fields.
You are talking about standard SAP fields, so the screen sequence should not really be the place to check.
I think it is pure customizing of field selection.
What is your material type?, what is its industry, what is the transaction you use for maintenance?

  • Packing Material with Batch Management and Shelf life expiration date check

    Dear All,
I created a packing material and activated batch managemnt with shelf life.
At the time of GR the batch should be created automatically or if i want to create a batch manually for some materials how to do it in the system.
                         Help me

Before going ahead with the batch creation,
you need to activate the batch mngmnt level (i.e.Client,plant,material level)
    And also activate the Nor.ranges.
Then Create the Classification,Characteristics and assign the Chrctstics to Class.
    Then create the batch
    T Code:
    CT04 create Char.
    CL02-Create Class
    CL24N:Assign class to material

  • Shelf Lif of a material

    Dear ALl
System should not allow to issue a material whose shelf lie is expired?
Can you suggest any soultion for this?
    Pl update ASAP
    Manoj

    Hi,
During creation of  Material in MM01.....In Gen Plant data/storage 1 view, Maintain required values in the Field of .....Total Self Life ( lets say 90days) and in Min. Remaining shelf life  ( is 60days).....
When you do GR for this material the System will ask for Date of Production of material( u enter here0 ...from that the system automatically calculates it SLED....and it checks the Remaining shelf life Expiry Date also...and if it falls earlier than that...the system will give you Error message and will not allow you to Post the GR...(example:1, If ur receiving today ie..27.03.2008 and production date is 29.01.2008{  falls within 60days, then system will post GR, example:2, If ur receiving today ie..27.03.2008 and production date is 12.01.2008{ not falls within 60days} , then system will not post GR.
